I recently used Intense Movers for a move. They were quick, responsive and very accommodating handling most of the coordination over email. They really made the whole setup process very easy and I was very impressed. On the day of they even showed up early at my request. My movers did a good job. The only thing to note is that my move was conducted in about an hour's time but they charged me a two-hour minimum which you agree to up front. I would absolutely recommend. read more

I HATE moving and had avoided moving for over 10 years until it was clear I needed a change. Thankfully, the team at Intense Movers made a normally miserable experience smooth and stress-free. All of the communication was clear and concise from the initial survey to determine my price quote to the little changes I had to make at the end. I've used these guys four times now, and they consistently provide a solid service for a reasonable price. Setting up the move is all done by email - it may require a little more legwork on your part, but you can do it on your own schedule and they are always very prompt at replying. Customer service is always very friendly and professional. And the movers themselves are hard working dudes with a friendly attitude. The size of my moves has increased from a studio to a one-bedroom to a three-bedroom apartment, and each time they've put in a full day's work to get the job done. I like the fact that it is a set fee so if the move takes longer than expected, you're not on the hook for extra charges. I used Intense Movers to move to a new apartment today and I am so happy with my experience. I emailed back and forth with the team a few times to work out cost, timing, and inventory and everyone I spoke to was so helpful. This morning the movers called me when they were almost to my apartment, loaded everything onto the truck in the blink of an eye, unloaded just as fast, were so pleasant and communicative, and all of my belongings arrived in perfect condition. Intense movers just did a Manhattan to Brooklyn move for me. They gave me a flat rate in the quote which I really like - no unknowns about how much the move is going to cost. The price was cheaper than other flat rate quotes I got from other companies in the city. In the weeks leading up to my move, I had to reschedule twice and they were super accommodating both times. I was a little short on my estimate for how many boxes I would be taking with me, but when the truck showed up and I had 10 extra boxes, they didn't charge me anything extra. This is the second time I have used Intense Movers and once again, I had a pain-free move. Email correspondence was prompt and they were able to quickly secure a COI for my new building. The crew (3 people) were very friendly and mindful of furniture and buildings. Despite the fact that I was moving on the hottest day of the year, their attitude was great throughout the move. They moved me in record time. Completely cleared out of my old one-bedroom apartment and moved into new apartment in about 2 hours (same neighborhood). No damage to any of my nice furniture pieces (I trust these guys with Herman Miller, DWR, and vintage mid-century pieces). They also were able to quickly navigate a giant 96" couch through tight corners/stairwells with no issues. Finally, the price is unbeatable--which lets you provide a great tip while also keeping some cash in your own pockets. read more

Going to pile on with a five-star review. A very good friend recommended them for my nerve-wracking move after using them the year before. I'll be honest and thought from the 80s adult film name that she was joking (sorry, my mind goes there) but so happy I went with them. From the rapid quote response and flexibility to edit the packing list late afternoon the day before the scheduled move, the experience was the opposite of intense -- it was as close to easy and breezy as moving could be. They didn't rush and took great care to wrap the stuff I couldn't fit in bins (yeah, rental bins, DO IT). They were utterly polite and didn't stress any curveballs in the form of rampless lobby steps or parking issues. The truck was decorated with awesome graffiti art and who doesn't like that? I hope I don't have to move again any time soon but if I do, it'll be Intense. read more

Great experience from start to finish. I hired Intense Movers to take me from Brooklyn to Philadelphia. They were super responsive over email in the lead up to the move, and day of--just as stated--the lead guy in charge of my move reached out over text to confirm. They showed up outside my apartment at 8AM on the dot, figured out a place to park that was acceptably out of the way, and loaded everything promptly. They were careful and thorough, checking that all of my furniture was properly packed up. Same drill in Philadelphia--efficient unpacking, everything just as promised, my belongings taken care of. Not only the worst moving company, one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. After showing up almost an hour late they came in and took inventory. We underestimated the inventory, but we ended up being correct on the moving time (2 hours), mind you this was from a 1st fl to 1st fl apartment. The employee then left the apartment to call his boss to verify if it was ok for them to go ahead with the move. After another hour wasted sitting in his van waiting for the boss to give the ok, he came back into the apartment and told us to reschedule. We ended up walking to the nearest home depot and hiring a few dudes to lend us a van and help us out since we were so strapped for time. It took us two hours. So in the end I had a better experience hiring people from a parking lot rather than using this terrible company. read more

Movers are in the customer service business, and moving is stressful. In customer service you focus on making it easy for the customer to get things done, and movers should make the process less painful. NOT THESE GUYS. They show they only care about making things easier for themselves, not the customer. Their quote process is unreasonably burdensome, and have no problem asking busy customers who've spent 1+ hour on it to send the yet another set of answers back in another form that's "easier on the eye." I noticed that almost TWO MONTHS later, Intense Movers decided to update their response to my review, and included this comment: "After reading his review, I immediately sent Konstantin a friendly email apologizing for missing that email and explaining politely what had happened, assuring him that we never intended to blow him off. We've received no reply. " This is just not true. As I mentioned in my review, I never heard back from Intense after I replied to their request for further details. They had replied to my initial review saying that my email fell through the cracks and that's it. Please don't try to imply that I somehow dropped the ball when your service was unable to give a proper reply. Yelp automatically updates about your responses to my review so don't think you're being sly and flying under the radar two months later. read more

Read the details of your agreement carefully. I just moved with intense movers and had a generally unpleasant experience. No reassembly of your furniture despite a high price. I moved from a 1br in Greenpoint to Williamsburg, a short distance. First, you have to provide your own boxes - and they recommended a company that rents boxes. I also hired them for packing (not considered part of the moving and be warned that the packers come with nothing to your house - no packing paper, no tape, nothing). Also be aware you have to pay in cash unless you make prior arrangements. The movers came the next day, and were going to reassemble none of my furniture when they left. The instructions they give you say no complex assembly beyond a table. I had to argue for them to assemble my desk even and my dining table was not put back together which is just a piece of glass onto some legs. For this level of service I paid 100 dollars for the boxes, and 660 for the packing and moving. All together 760$ for a 1br move with not much furniture; I think the price was steep - especially considering reassembly is not included, you have to get your own packing materials and order the boxes separately. I told Matt I hired packers from his company to pack, and so I assumed they would tell me what needs to be packed beforehand to optimize their move. Dan said he would be doing the move tomorrow so I assumed he knew what needed to be packed. The next morning it was a different moving crew. Dan did say we were in good shape for the move tomorrow. The next day the movers came. They started moving stuff out while I quickly did a few remaining dishes, and they told me they had to charge 60 more dollars for the couch I forgot to list and a few more boxes - no problem. Ss the move carried on they complained there was so much stuff to take down and that they're going to run late. They told me I had to pack the toilet plunger and cleaner ( not sure why the packers didn't pack those). They were frustrated when I told them they had to take the things from the laundry room ( which were brooms and buckets), and they said I should have told them about them ahead of time - not sure why I would do that since its just stuff they have to take down. Also the door was open and it was clearly visible there was stuff there. In general they just kept complaining that they have another move and they have to hurry. I told them that if there is stuff they felt should have been packed the packers yesterday should have either done it or advised that it be done - I hired movers from their company to do this stuff so if anything they should be bothered by the packers (the dirty dishes isn't what held anything up. I did those as soon as they came and packed them myself), and the move as a whole didn't take all that long. The unload at the final apartment was not bad. Except they kept complaining that they had to be at their next move ( which I understand, but then you likely tried to schedule too many moves). They just dropped everything in the apartment, not even asking where things should go- eg bedside table in the living room. Couch in the center of the room. Everything everywhere. And started to leave. I asked what about assembling and placing the furniture ( they said they don't do that as part of the moving service - pay for assembly experts to come). I said wait, and looked at the contract where they said they don't assemble 'complex' furniture but that they do assemble tables. I told them I felt they should assemble my desk and they called Matt and then grudgingly began to do it. They acted as though this was somehow a favor to me. I then said to the movers that I'm surprised it cost this much and that they're not putting together my tables even. The mover the told me that the courteous thing for me to do would be to at least help him assemble the table given they're running late to the next move. I thought that was a bit much - I paid for your service, and not only that but to help their move along I took down a bunch of the dining room chairs and smaller items myself when we were loading. I reached out to Matt with my concerns and he wasn't too receptive to them. His big point to me is you should have read the material - so given that response I am now warning you to read the material too. Although in the material it does say they should have assembled things like my tables, and I think they should just have spent a bit of time at the end helping to put stuff in the right place but at that point they were so eager to go I told them just go. I still gave both the packers and movers tips since i thought its more the company's fault for putting on the time pressure, although in retrospect maybe this is one of those occasions when you shouldn't tip. So read the material carefully when you sign up for these guys. It's expensive for what they provided and there is inconvenience associated with the extra coordination you have to do. read more

It appears that some people have had a good experience with these movers but mine was horrific. They brought a truck that was too small for our furniture (even though we gave them a very concise list of what needed to be moved) and refused to make a second trip (the distance between pick up and drop off was only a 15-20 minute drive). I tried to call the office for help and got no response. I left a message and no one called me back. Finally, the next day they said they would come pick up the rest of the stuff but that they would have to charge us. Needless to say we took our business elsewhere to complete the move. Please do not trust this company with your move!!! *******UPDATE********** since the owner of the company felt that it was necessary to send me a threatening email because of my yelp review and also decided to post an untrue response to my review I feel compelled to update my post. None of what he is saying is true. If you want to see for yourself- sort these reviews by rating and see how many other people have had this exact same experience (its a lot). Matt is rude, unhelpful and has no idea what "customer service" means. I would have moved with RABBIT but they were booked- anyone looking to move in the NYC area should go with RABBIT movers- I regret not waiting for their first available appointment. This has truly been a nightmare and the last thing any one needs while they are moving is added stress. ******ADDITIONAL UPDATE******* I usually refuse to participate in this type of back and forth but the truth is that Intense Movers always had a complete list of all our items. I find it ridiculous that the owner of the company is now bullying me and continues to lie about the circumstances now that I've given an accurate review. If he would have taken the time to complete our move for the original price quoted for the original list of items, I would have been completely satisfied. But instead I've spent my entire day going back and forth with him over a list that can be seen in our written correspondence. I do not need this drama, especially in the middle of a move. The guys that came to save our move is Super Man Van. They are quick, helpful and have positive attitudes. I would highly recommend them. read more

We had a mixed experience with these guys. The first move, we'd asked them to come from noon to 1pm, and they showed up at 1:30pm - wouldn't have been so bad but we were moving to an upscale building where they cut off for humping stuff in is 4pm. Had to repack everything and schedule a second move, when they were a coupla hours late, but this time it was e arly enough to do the move anyway. They were friendly and offered a future discount for the inconvenience, and now we know that New York City is more of a land of rules than ever. My friend in Normandy Towers tells me they charge people for getting a bed delivered, my brother in Queens got hassled for a $500 'moving out' fee by a superintendant. Tuff town! Honestly, I am so grateful to the guys I worked with at Intense Movers for making a very stressful process much less overwhelming for me. Matt, Carl and Noah were an absolute pleasure to work with. They had a great attitude about doing what most of us dread (a 1 bedroom, lower-Brooklyn move, 3 floors up - all the way to a house on Long Island with most stuff going upstairs...and on a semi-rainy day, no less). That was golden to me, but what made me book them in the first place (aside from great reviews) was their fair (and unchanging) quote based on an email Q & A upfront regarding the stuff I needed moved. They showed up late, showed up with a van that couldn't fit everything so we packed up our own car to the brim (inventory estimated was correct), and were slow as ever while moving. I feel bad writing this review because I liked my three movers so much (Chris - the leader, Hakeem and Atilla). Nice guys, did the job quickly and without fuss and went above and beyond in some ways. But still - a poor review for the company, because: 1. They messed up in the insurances required for my old building. If I was going to be charitable I'd say it was a misunderstanding, but logic dictates that it was not a misunderstanding. In short, I told them to use their standard insurance rather than the higher one my building wanted because I knew the building wouldn't complain if presented with it. They interpreted that as needing no insurance at all. When I pointed out the mistake and said I still wanted the lower value insurance, they told me I would need a waiver from my building or they'd have to cancel (this was three days before the move I booked a week earlier). They didn't own up to making a mistake, which was slightly galling. 2. They destroyed a six month old bookcase, which cost me $160. They have a clause in the contract saying that they don't take responsibility for chipboard stuff. Which I understand, yet I've managed to move those sorts of things in the past without a problem. Their supervisor only allowed them to knock $30 off, but they were very apologetic and reassembled some stuff for free which I appreciated. 3. They chipped a mid-century cabinet which cost me $700. In the movers' defence, they noticed it and told me and knocked off another $70 for this, but it's still not ideal. If they had been more apologetic about (1) they might have got 3-4 stars just for having nice guys do the moving job, but the combination of the three makes me wish I'd picked a different company. read more

The reason for the one star review is that my wife and I spent about six hours yesterday driving back to New York to move the remainder of our things that Intense was unable to move. Let's start with the good and then move into our issues. It's unfortunate it played out the way it did, because prior to our moving day I was poised to give Intense five stars. They were extremely communicative, professional, and gave a crystal-clear picture of what to expect on my moving day. Upon doing the price quote, I sent intense my initial estimate for the contents of our apartment. Their quote was reasonable, so I went with them. Two weeks before our move, once everything was ACTUALLY packed, I sent an updated inventory, and they reciprocated with an updated quote IMMEDIATELY. It was Awesome. I sent my final update the week of the move and they sent a final quote IMMEDIATELY. These dudes were on top of their stuff. Moving day rolled around an a INTENSE van pulled up at 9:00 AM sharp. Our movers were punctual, professional, efficient, and funny. They came up to the apartment to verify that everything we were planning on moving was in our itinerary. It was. Thus far it's been a five-star kinda day! About half way through the move one of the movers scratched his head in cartoon-like fashion while looking in the back of the truck and told me "It's gonna be a real tight squeeze. I don't think the truck is big enough." Turns out...it wasn't. When it was all said and done, the movers were only able to get about 90% of our things into the truck. Every single piece that was not able to be moved was listed in our inventory. Both movers confirmed that the truck should have been larger given the inventory we shared with Intense. It seemed to me like Intense rolled the dice during the busy season "hoping" that we'd scrape by with a smaller truck...and they lost. Mistakes happen. I get that. The problem was intensified when I attempted to get in touch with Intense. I wanted to know their solution to the problem, expecting a refund or a no-charge moving of the rest of our stuff. They didn't reply to my e-mail. I reached out again several days later. No response. At this point, I'm guessing that their immediate response and immaculate customer service does not extend to complaints. It's really a shame, too. I was super impressed until our moving day....but this is just not how you run a business. There are several shops all over Brooklyn that do the same thing as Intense...MOVAGE, Rabbit, Top Hat just to name a few. I'd recommend using one of them. read more

My move was from Brooklyn to Jersey on July 19th - one of the hottest days of the summer :-( I had 2 bedrooms worth of furniture, 1 bedroom was full of really good furniture. old heavy stuff that will last forever. the other a children's bedroom set. I also had a treadmill. weights, deep freezer....I had the works!! Intense Movers responded right away and after I gave them my detailed move list they gave me a fair moving price. on the day of the crew arrived promptly at 9 and got to work. they bubbled wrapped EVERYTHING, covered my furniture and was done packing the truck in four hours. they were very professional at all times. When they arrived in jersey and I felt bad when they had to carry the furniture up the stairs and I could see that they were exhausted but didn't complain. they placed the furniture where I wanted and left. My only issue was that the TV stand was broken on a TV so that it now has to be placed on the wall. The owner did offer to pay for the wall mount but I never mounted it. Overall I'd recommend them. they are fast and for the most part will take care of your stuff. They also let me keep me my food in the deep freezer :-) read more

Recently I moved once again but unfortunately Intense Movers didn't have a crew available and I certainly suffered because of it. In Mid-October, we arranged for Intense Movers to move the contents of our apartment from Brooklyn to Stamford. The two guys that arrived were amazing. Cameron and....can't remember his partner's name. They were to arrive between 9 and 10 and they were ready to move at exactly 9. They were hardworking, polite and professional. Above all, however, they stuck to their promises. They moved in the allocated timeframe, kept the agreed upon rate and went above and beyond to ensure things were safely moved. It was very clear from our conversations that any extra assembly and/or disassembly would be an additional cost, so we simply chose to disassemble and reassemble everything ourselves. I felt compelled to write this after reading several negative reviews. I am not a friend of Intense Movers nor am I an employee. I am simply a satisfied customer. i priced out 3 yelp approved companies for my apartment move and intense! was the lowest, and most responsive. you tell them exactly what they have, and they give you a fair flat rate. the guys showed up ten minutes early and got right to it. they were friendly, careful and fast. they took time to wrap delicate items, and didn't try to overload themselves and risk crushing/breaking anything. my new place is a 5 floor walk up, and it happened to be raining but neither slowed the guys down, or caused complaints. i hope i don't move again for a little while, but will definitely use these guys again. read more
