Intelligent Kitchen is a GEM and located in my UWS neighborhood too. I came across Intelligent Kitchen (IK) as my family was in need of design and project management help for our apartment renovation. We had met with a number of design build firms but were not finding what we were looking for in personalized attention. When I first met IK, the project was a certain size - one kitchen and one bathroom, possibly two bathrooms. After we met IK, heard their ideas and shared some of our dream items for our family home, we decided to re-design our ENTIRE apartment using IK as our design team for architectural services and selections across 2300 interior square feet. This included redesigning our apartment layout, tripling the size of our kitchen and gutting 3 full bathrooms and enhancing one other bathroom. We could not have done it without Lauren, Olga, Adriana and the entire IK team of designers and project managers. IK is on top of it all. We had weekly design and logistics meetings that included our budget tracking and our selection tracking. They were able to show us what our apartment was going to look like through amazing renderings that were so life-like, it was the first time I was able to truly see what I was putting together. They worked with us on finishing selections, coordination with the contracting team over 6 months with multiple weekly visits, the architect and expeditors, the ancillary services and resources for glass, marble, cabinetry and more. IK was able to deliver us the home of our dreams in NYC. Although it was a complicated and nearly year long project, we felt ready to take it all on because of IK and their team and their contacts. They were there for us every step of the way, kept us on budget and were able to meet with varying providers when we weren't, acting like our own right hand. I would recommend IK to anyone looking to do a bathroom or a kitchen or a complete and total renovation just like ours. Matter of fact, I have already referred several friends and neighbors to them. How can I begin to sing the praises of Lauren (owner), Jen and our amazing contractor Roger D. We live in a pre war UWS apt, took 9 months just to get building approval for a kitchen renovation/replacement. The last renovation had taken place 25 years ago. Building approval was the worst part of the process. We started renovation 7 weeks ago and as of today the only major item missing is a glass backsplash we specially ordered. The renovation went like clockwork. Roger and his crew showed up EVERY DAY and methodically, step by step demolished and replaced and did a magnificent job. At all times the workmen made sure to control dust, they were very neat and cleaned up at the end of each day. Jen and Lauren made the selection process (cabinets, floor tile, etc) painless. Things were delivered when they said they would be, electricians and plumber showed up as planned. Quite frankly I couldn't believe it. If you can get Roger D. as your contractor you will not be disappointed. Direct, honest, and a heck of great guy who delivers as he promises. We are almost finished and I have to say I would wholeheartedly recommend Intelligent Kitchen. The kitchen is gorgeous and we are thrilled. read more

I LOVE my new kitchen!!! It's sleek, modern, and totally functional. My rep, Jen Cohen was fabulous. She had great ideas, and was available at all times to facilitate the process. Following delivery she comes to your house to inspect the kitchen. There was a minor repair required due to delivery damage which was replaced immediately. I'd give 6 stars if I could. I am a single guy and definitely lack the design gene. The best I could do is say what I didn't like and offer a very vague description of what I wanted. I definitely required an unusually high amount of time and hand holding. Even though this was not a huge project, Lauren provided plenty of both. And somehow , without pushing anything on me, Lauren was able to gently steer me in the right direction and I wound up with the exact kitchen I would have described if I actually had the vision and vocabulary to do so. I could not be happier with it. And better yet she really went the extra mile to ensure I was 100% happy with the project. When I discovered a problem with one of the materials 12 months after project completion (it wasnt Laurens fault) she went the extra mile to get a replacement to me at no cost. Even though it was long after my relatively small project was finished. Great design plus great service will always be a winning formula in my book, and that's what you get at Intelligent Kitchen. read more

I recently hired Intelligent Kitchen for my kitchen remodel (June 2016). Truth be told, since this was my first ever remodel, I went to a couple other places before I made my decision (including a large national chain). Just finished a complete re-do of our kitchen with the help of Lisa of Intelligent Kitchen. From the day we first walked in to their shop on Amsterdam Avenue to a week or two after our project was finished, Lisa was their every step of the way - from the initial design, to selection of cabinetry, finishes, appliances and the contractor, to overseeing the construction process, to dealing with little but important things like selecting the right trash bin. If you have a tiny Manhattan kitchen and you need excellent design and service, STOP and don't look any further. Lauren the owner and designer was very generous with her time and expertise. Not only did she help me choose what cabinets, countertop and backsplash to pick, but she also gave me her educated opinions on what appliances I might want to consider. Then... drumroll... there was a problem with one of the cabinets. The finish seemed to "blister" a few weeks after we moved into our new apartment. This was no problem. Lauren had the manufactures of the custom made cabinets we bought show up and they placed a veneer over the cabinet. It looked good so I was satisfied. 2, yes two years later the veneer started to peel and I was really disappointed. When I called Lauren she showed up the next day and said she would take care of it. She actually had the company replace the entire cabinet, which was expensive and did it at her own expense. Thank you Lauren, we love our kitchen! read more

I did a complete renovation of my kitchen and Jen Cohen from Intelligent Kitchen made the process absolutely flawless and enjoyable. She listened to what I wanted in terms of design and drew up a plan that incorporated all the details that I wanted (including a spice pull out drawer, etc.). She went above and beyond the call of duty working with me and my contractor. When we came across a piping problem that no one foresaw, Jen took the initiative to work with my contractor to get everything right in terms of getting the right fit for the cabinets. We would highly recommend working with Lauren Park of Intelligent Kitchen. Lauren designed and coordinated the gut renovation of our kitchen. We couldn't be more pleased with the way our project turned out. It has transformed our apartment. Lauren had a genuine interest in our project, and we had close interaction and collaboration with her though every stage. We first discussed our vision of an open-kitchen concept and pictures of our style on Pinterest. Lauren then added her professional touch to our style and created 3D renderings of our new kitchen. These 3D renderings were very particularly helpful so we could see what really worked in our space. And when things didn't look perfect to us or Lauren, she was very flexible and adjusted the plans and 3D renderings on numerous occasions to perfectly suit our taste. We also liked how Lauren did not push any products on us and she did not require us to use one of her contractors. Instead, she presented her professional suggestions, and we were able to check those against what we found online. It was helpful to bounce ideas off of her so that we didn't make design mistakes - she alerted us of important functional considerations and then layered in a good sense of style and professionalism. Lauren also facilitated the project by liaising with our contractor (that we received from another recommendation) and with our other vendors (i.e. Cancos for tiles/counter, AJ Madison for appliances, etc). read more

I felt that the quality of their cabinets were second rate, but priced the same as high end cabinets. Moreover, I felt the store staff is not helpful, they were rude to me, and they quoted pretty high prices. I think you can probably do better with the numerous other cabinet stores in the city -- Shop around and do not believe anyone's false promises around the quality of their product and their customer service. Make sure anyone you buy from can really back it up! read more

We recently completed installation of our new kitchen made by Miralis. Lauren @ Intelligent Kitchen was recommended to us by friends who were already in the process of designing their kitchen with Lauren. We could not be happier with our choice. Intelligent Kitchen provided a combination of great value, quick turnaround (6 weeks vs. 3-4 months for comparable European-made kitchens) and excellent service. Lauren spent several hours meeting with us and helping to design our new kitchen. She provided great recommendations throughout the process that helped us optimize our space and get all the features we wanted in our kitchen. Lauren visited our apartment four times to make sure everything would be done correctly - to do the initial measurement, to meet with the general contractor to validate measurements, to accept delivery and make sure everything was correct, and finally to review the finished product. As in all construction projects we expected some hick-ups, but there were none with our kitchen project. The kitchen was delivered in 6 weeks, as originally promised. Nothing was missing, and everything was measured correctly. An installer recommended by Lauren came in an had everything done in less than 2 days. We have been using the kitchen for a few months now, and we are happy with the quality of the cabinets, and we love the final product. Therefore we are very happy to recommend Intelligent Kitchen, as well as Miralis (the manufacturer) for your kitchen project. I came to Lauren because while I very much wanted to renovate my kitchen, I had only amorphous ideas and no practical skills to design a functional and beautiful kitchen. After researching kitchen cabinet manufacturers and designers for near on a year, we stumbled into IKDNY exasperated by the challenge of finding the cabinet features, design and quality we wanted (best represented by the high priced SieMatic) but at an affordable price. Lauren was an absolute delight to work with as she gently guided us toward Miralis cabinets and quartz countertops/backsplash, and then negotiated with Miralis to get the beveled shaker finish and color tones we desired. We always felt Lauren balanced modernizing our space while respecting the building and location we are part of. Her design was perfect and the inevitable minor issues we encountered were quickly dealt with (at no cost to us) - her partnership with our contractor could not have been better. Lauren was always generous with her time and thorough with her follow ups. Her advice even extended to color coordination in the kitchen and adjacent room in the apartment. We never felt pressured and the price seemed right for the product and service we received. A gut renovation is a scary thing, but ultimately Lauren and her team gave us the feeling of confidence and control that we needed.
