We would definitely recommend Home Revision and Rachel for anybody look to re-imagine their living quarters. We contacted Home Revision about organizing and sprucing up our one-bedroom rental for an upcoming addition of a baby in our life. The way Rachel approached this project was very appealing to us. After a 1 hour consultation she recommended that we tackle this with one day of work together to get the apartment into a workable state, and follow up with any needed furniture upgrades later. This was great in that it was affordable and time-limited yet tackled the full scope. It was somewhat difficult to imagine what our apartment would look like with just 8 hours of work. It turned out even better than we expected, neater and cozier even before rugs or new furniture arrived. At the end of the day, we had a fully functional, rearranged apartment, with unimposing markings of future rugs/furniture replacements/decoration. For example, since we didn't get side tables yet for our living room couch, Rachel put similar dimension furniture in those spots to capture the idea and function of side tables. We had family visiting the same weekend, and it was great to be able to show them the new look! Rachel thought through the recommended design offline between the consultation and the work day. When we met in the morning, she already had some sketches of the where she saw the apartment heading and print outs of suggested furniture purchases. These were within a similar price range as other things in the apartment and would work with what we already have. Rachel took care to incorporate tastefully into the design various things she spotted in the apartment earlier, like travel mementos, plants, old books, wine/bar collection, etc. We felt we were in good hands with her as a designer and her process made us feel better about things that had importance to us but were just creating clutter before. She worked tirelessly and brought such good energy, moving furniture, lugging books, setting up things on shelves. The day was organized and Rachel made sure there is enough time as the end to map out what decorative pieces would be good for our walls. She made general recommendations to leave us enough room for creativity but also helped in narrowing down the type, color palette, and marking dimensions on the walls. We also found her guidance on sites/stores for sourcing these things very useful! read more

Very pleased to have experienced the transformational services of Rachel and Home Revision. She stepped in after an initial zoom consultation about my cramped apartment to help make the changes that were desperately needed -- changes I couldn't visualise myself. She listens, she encourages you to work alongside her, and she helps "trim the fat" to find out what's actually needed, while bringing time-honoured expertise to the table. Rachel's thoughtful, transformative and eclectic styling accommodated my desk-space, my framed art and photographs, plants, musical instruments, vinyl collection and small library to compliment each other and give intentionality to the entire place. She also made little additions to add efficiency and functionality without overwhelming the limited space I have. She actually helped me to maximize space in the process. I have more room in my apartment now to enjoy. She's brilliant, she's tireless and has boundless energy. I'm just so grateful to her for helping me to achieve a multi-functional space and a live/work sanctuary that I now love to spend time in. read more

Rachel at Home ReVision brings beauty & organization to everything she touches. Her vision & talent has helped our home through several stages of life. We hired her to first bring sophistication & charm to our home shortly after we moved in. She was able to take an inventory of our things then transform & reuse them in ways beyond my imagination. Rachel helped us stay in our limited budget but when she was done it looked magazine worthy! A few years down the road we had her return to create space for our baby on the way in addition to organizing all our closets and my home office. As a mother to be she was a lifesaver! She uses her time as wisely as her resources. My son's nursery turned out unique, delightful and very functional. It was an added bonus to have each of my closets uncluttered & organized. Such a relief! My home office has never functioned so smoothly and looked so lovely! We look forward to having her return to create space in the current nursery for baby number 2!! I would highly recommend her talent and services! read more

We have a beautiful apartment, but it was FULL OF STUFF. Rachel helped us understand what we needed to store, get rid of, and what to leave out to make our space as lovely and stylish and functional as it can be... and then she stuck around to box, sort, label, and arrange. Rachel is gifted, I think, because her goal isn't just a beautiful, clean home. Her goal is also for us to understand that KEEPING your home nice and stylish is PROCESS, and the process must be compatible with the way you actually live. The way you actually inhabit your rooms, use your stuff, and live your life. As I contemplate buying new things for the apartment, I would like to think I've kept a little bit of Rachel with me, asking myself, how will I use this? How will the flow of daily life interact with this thing [furniture, container, diaper station, etc.]? Every minute with Rachel Plotkin is a genuine delight and the dollars I spent on her time wis the money I have fretted the * least * over this past year. The difference she made to our home is clear every day. read more

Rachel is absolutely fantastic! I literally cannot express the multitude of gratitude I have for her and her design aesthetic. As many New Yorkers know, having space in this city is a luxury, and having a studio in the west village, space is not only a luxury but the rarest of commodities. Somehow, through Rachel's magic, my once tiny village studio feels like palace! With only the addition of some shelving and IKEA drawers, she incorporated everything that I already owned to make the whole place feel so much more vibrant, clean and spacious. She was able to see through all the mountains of clutter to find exactly what I was looking for. My queen sized bed that once felt like it dominated my entire living room/bedroom/everything space, now feels like just another piece of furniture. Rachel was so flexible, kind and imaginative, the whole day of the redesign seem to fly by in a flash! My bunny, Beatrice, and I are jumping for joy over Rachel! read more

I had Rachel redo my kitchen and I have never been happier with the space. Its is beautiful, bigger and so much more functional. My storage and cabinets areas are so useful now, and I have new shelves for my loved keep sakes and my furniture works better in the whole room. Plus I love that we painted it bright colors and got some of my art work to flow with the theme. Its become such a better space for entertaining. It was cluttered and dark before and now its my favorite room in my place. Plus Rachel is a delight to work with, listens, understand how to compliment the stuff I already have and has over all a great energy. All my friends want to work with her after they saw my kitchen and she has been booking with them too. She making all of our spaces better every day. I"m going to have her do more of my place very soon. read more

As a guy in my late 20's, I was very interested in organizing and classing up my apartment, leaving the college junkiness behind. I really needed my place to be welcoming and interesting without being gaudy, fussy, and especially without looking like a sloppy bachelor pad. Rachel helped me a ton, working almost entirely with things I already owned. I was already interested in buying a new couch (the only big purchase I wanted to make), so in addition to already designing my space, she was also able to help me pick the perfect one to go with what we had done. It's pretty amazing how much more organized and comfortable you feel when your living space is set up so well! I'd like to say that I was pleasantly shocked at how much more awesome my apartment is now after she helped me. read more

Words cannot describe the happy feeling both my husband and I were left with after working with Rachel. We had been wanting to redecorate our downstairs for a long while - clear out the clutter, make it homey and livable and we just couldn't get our act together. I called upon Rachel for help and not only did she get the job done efficiently and quickly, but her taste level, patience and great eye made the space better than we could have ever imagined. She is sensitive to the things that might whole sentimental value, doesn't push and helps you reorganize what's already there, while adding a few new touches like pillows/rugs/lights, etc. She was amazing to work with and we would definitely use her services again! read more

I cannot even begin to describe what Rachel did for my home. I've never met anyone who can take what you already have and make it look new again. I've never seen someone stand in a room that I've stood in so many times and automatically see where things look best... and she's right. They DO look much better the way she designs it. I recommend her services to anyone who has just moved to NYC and is downsizing due to lack of space. I also recommend her to anyone who doesn't feel like their apartment has that "put together" feeling of a high end designer's touch. She can do that "put together" thing without breaking the bank. She's an absolute gift and I'm using her services when I move in the future. read more

Rachel at Home ReVision brilliantly helped us reorganize our brownstone in Bed-Stuy, find the right place for everything, and figure out what would make it feel like the place we envisioned. She did everything from assembling boxes and shelves to helping us trot out forgotten furniture in new ways to arranging objets d'art from stuff we already had but didn't make enough use of. Highly recommended! read more
