There was no Starter diagnosed. The engine was completely junk. Not to mention. It was a propane LP gas vehicle, but it did not say that on the description found out the van was returned six times to IAA. They knew 100% it was junk, but they stuck it to me. They are like a government level agency they have contracts with all the major insurance company's and that is where the service goes. they don't give a shit about the buyers and they don't have to. So if you want a salvage vehicle they have you have to take it in the rear by them. And don't get me started with there corporate employees! They are based in IL and those people are lazy and could care even less about doing there jobs. This place is located on Broadway Rd out West kind of in the middle of nowhere but I guess they need alot of cheap land to do what they are doing. My car was declared a total loss and had to come get belongings out of the car. When you enter there are 4 people sitting at the desks. I was the 4th person in line but somehow each person took about 30 minutes. The person farthest to the left sees no customers so really there are only 3 people working and they work very slowly and inefficiently. It took me over an hour to be seen. Then you go into the back and wait for them to either bring your car to you with the forklift as others have described or they tell you where it is. I waited about another 15 minutes for them to tell me where my car was because you cannot go look for it yourself. It turns out that the car was about 10 yds away but it was behind a wall so I could not see it. They finally decided to point it out and let me go get my things. The entire process is unbelievably slow. I was there over 1.5 hours and again there were only 3 people in line before me. Be prepared to waste time when you go there. I did not expect my car to be declared a total loss so I got caught off guard but, hopefully not, but if there is a next time, I will take all my things out of my car rather than deal with that situation again. read more

I visited IAA to collect some belongings out of my vehicle. Everything was fine in that regard...the check in process was seamless and the wait time to get to my vehicle was acceptable. I was expecting them to bring my vehicle to me via forklift but they didn't, they brought me out to the yard, which was kind of interesting seeing all the wrecked vehicles. So why the 1 star? My vehicle shouldn't have been at IAA to begin with. IAA took my vehicle from the repair facility without my authorization or the shop's authorization. I called and spoke with the manager of IAA who stated it was probably a miscommunication. It is kind of unsettling that they just take vehicles without permission and without the proper paperwork. I was rear ended at a stoplight by a lady going 45 mph. Luckily I had a big heavy vehicle, or it could have been very bad. As it was my vehicle was totaled, and had to take my wife to the hospital in an ambulance, so we left everything in the car. I was not able to go to the car for four days. After reading the reviews here I was not expecting much. When I got there, I waited 5 minutes for help. They had me sign a liability release and leave my Driver License and gave me a safety vest. Took 5 minutes. Out the door to the waiting area, guard called for the car, it came in less than 5 minutes. When I opened the car, I found that they had bagged up everything that they could fine. This included gift cards, a camera, radar detector and a few other things that would be tempting to take. All there ready for me to take home. I only had to force open a hidden area to get a few things out. A guard came over a couple of times, to offer assistance, but I did not need any help. Put It all in the rental car. Went back in, was waived to the front of the line handed in the vest, got my DL back and was done. No issues. And my wife is recovering with soft tissue injuries, so that is positive as well. read more

Facility: There's the indoor office/waiting room, its medium sized, in a industrial building (it's where you'll check in if your here to retrieve personal items from your car). Then there's an outdoor waiting area where you wait for the guys in golf carts to escort you to your car. The auto salvage yard is ENORMOUS!!!! Organized by acres of rows of wrecked cars. Service: There was two people at the indoor waiting room checking people in pretty quickly, everyone was pleasant. The outdoor waiting area was a bit slow, seemed to only have two guys on golf carts. I waited 15 minutes and I was in the front of the line. I can imagine waiting 45 minutes or more if you happen to have a couple people in front of you. The men in the carts were of a rough-neck type but very pleasant and funny. A pretty unique experience. read more

Salvaged my car then they brought it here even though I said I was going to buy it back. I gave them the keys and key fob. The car was still running for 2 days after the accident and I drove it home from the accident. There was only front damage on the vehicle. When I got the car back the key fob was missing they said they never received it and the car was no longer running. My car was to be picked up and taken for salvage after an accident, this company contacted me to pick the car up for the salvage purchaser on Friday morning(scheduled for 3 days), on Thursday afternoon at 4 they call and stated that they were unable to pick up the car till sometime the following week. I had taken off work for the morning to meet and transfer title, I have the car at a body shop that will want storage fees, and now I have to organize another pick-up and miss that time at work. My birthday cards were ripped open and gifts card taken out of the sleeves. The emergency cash in my console gone, as well as my nice pocket knife. Figured the cash would be gone. If I could put less stars I would. My car was brought to this place of business for evaluation after an accident initially and then sent to a repair shop of my choosing. I picked up my car from the repair shop only to find my license plate missing. The repair shop stated that my car came to them without the plates. I called the insurance company who called this auction yard to be told that the plates weren't their responsibility. I called the yard and was told very rudely by the female operator that they aren't responsible for plates or personal items. I responded letting them know that plates are a legally required item for a car and there was no reason why they should have been removed. Upon speaking to the manager, he stated it was their policy to remove them (without a good reason mind you) and they aren't responsible for them. He stated that he didn't have the plates. So I filed a police report for stolen plates. I would not go here if I were you as they have nonsense policies and don't take action to minimize risk. read more

The car was not in run and drive condition, the coolant pipe was also broken, how it is possible to run this car with lack of coolant :) battery was dead, there was another problem in passenger rear wheel, front wheel lower arm engine frame was broken and they are still saying the steering wheel turns and car goes when you shift the gear. If you turn the steering wheel all the way right or left the wheel can tilt and they said they will not try it. It is not drive condition, you cannot drive. you should put clear information about car, you should say the car cranks and not driven. Shifting the the gear does not shows car as driven. We also request to see the car before payment to make sure if the car is driven but they did not let us to see, if they would let us to see it we would just pay the penalty fee and could cancel buying the car. They are top liar and cheating people. The manager was also rude in Phoenix, AZ location. Instead of understanding us he says "I dont have time to waste". Your duty is to help the buyers. They allow you to bid online but then don't photo or describe the issues, then they just say you should have come and looked at it. My car was towed here after an accident. Went to retrieve items from it and was told that I could not without a release form from my insurance agent? Never heard of that before. Its my car, its my dang belongings and I wanted them back. Had to step out of line and wait for the lady to get a hold of my insurance agent. Waited almost 20 minutes in their hot waiting room, growing impatient. I literally had to just grab a few things from my glove box, and unplug and retrieve my amp from under the seat. I finally get approval, then am told to go sit outside in the heat under a tarp and wait for them to bring my car around. They finally bring it around after 10 more minutes and then slam it rather hard on the ground with their forklift. ZERO compassion towards the customers here. Stating that cars start but a lot of times they do not start and have mechanical problems that they obviously apparently hide. This company is used by NPR Radio KJZZ 91.5FM in Phoenix, AZ for their car donation program. I made an appointment on a Wednesday to have my car picked up the following Monday between 8am-12pm, but by that Friday morning I had received 3 calls from tow truck drivers wanting to get the car right then and there. When I told the last caller that the appointment for pickup was for the upcoming Monday he stated that he would cancel my appointment and that I would have to remake it with KJZZ. I of course told him that he had no right to cancel the appointment and that I had made, and that he needs to get the accurate appointment info. He attempted to further argue, but got frustrated and then just hung up on me. I called the KJZZ vehicle donation program to let them know what happened, and that if Insurance Auto Auctions is the only company taking care of their vehicle donations, then they ought to get another company that would represent them better. read more
