I've been to this salon a few times and they always do a great job, both manicures and pedicures. They don't do acrylic but offered gel-x which I've never had but they look fantastic! I asked for a French manicure and Lily brought out the perfect colors and painted the tips an off white shade rather than the regular white to give a more natural look. They also have a new cat eye collection that I want to try. It gets pretty busy so I recommend making a reservation which can be booked online. read more

Convenient but nail techs could use training. Got a manicure and she pushed my cuticles back way too hard to where she injured my cuticle with cuts in the skin around nail bed which are now swollen and irritated. Not okay and praying no infection sinks in. Also did not cleanup skin on sides of nails so the polish is now lifting on the sides. I didn't press her on it because she wasn't that skilled as it was and I didn't want more damage. I had Ari. Pedicure was quick. Next time I'll stick with my place in Georgetown. read more

I was visiting the wharf and had some downtime so I walked over when this place opened and even though I didn't have an appointment, they got me in quickly. They had a group of people waiting after a bit, but I never felt rushed. The place is clean and pleasant-- calm as well-- not too much chatting. I got a spa pedicure (honey/milk) and it was great-- I was in there for over an hour and the technician, Lily was so patient and diligent. I hadn't picked out colors before hand so I told her what I wanted and she took the time to pick the right fit. Now, over a week later, my pedicure looks good as new and my feet are still so soft. Clean establishment. Masking not required but plexiglass separators still in place for clients. Adequate color selection. Overpriced Gel mani-pedi that has already chipped after 3 days. The point of gel is its lasting effect. Right on the wharf so this is probably the reason for the high prices. read more

Made an online appointment about 4 ish for 530 called at 430 asked if I could come in at 5 if possible if not 530 is ok. They said we can't, but 530 works. then I get a text at 515 as i'm headed down there saying it's canceled. I called and they were rude, and finally they said yes. I sat down about 535, was already done by 550, rude and fast. nails turned out ok, she was mad I accidentally scraped the nail when putting under the lights. But where the light is placed and being rushed it's easy to hit. Expensive for the fast and poor service they have here, have a feeling this will chip fast. read more

I had a lady who cleaned up my cracked nail situation quite nicely--put on the tips--and recommended SNS for my nail shape to have a better experience, since apparently I have uniquely shaped nails. I am a Broadway actor in town doing a show. My theater company scheduled an appointment for me to have nails done for our show a week in advance. Even put a card on file and 20% gratuity. I get to the salon 10 minutes before my appointment and still had to wait 20 mins after my appointment to be seen. When I finally get seen nail tech starts doing GelX nails on me. She clearly doesn't know what she is doing as I get this service done frequently in NYC. Mid service she says she ran out of builder gel which adheres nail tip. She gets mad and they give me another nail tech which proceeds to try doing my nails. She doesn't know what she's doing either. Half way through the service a nail literally pops off. So I tell them to stop service. This nail tech proceeds to yell something in her native language and drills/files my nail down to the point where she burns me. So I tell her to stop and take off what she started. This is bad business. From the moment I walked in I felt half assed welcomed probably because of my race. I came here for the first time for the lavender pedicure and gel manicure. The pedicure was so relaxing, and smelled amazing. The nails were exactly what I wanted (but will get them shorter next time, I've learned having them this long is kinda cumbersome)! Mimi did my nails and another tech who was really sweet did my pedicure. I don't recommend this place. The color selection isn't good. Almost every nail salon in DC offers beverages and InStyle doesn't. But my biggest issue was the staff. I called for an appointment and asked for a gel color change. When I arrived I told the front desk person I wanted a gel color change. I wrote down on the sign-in sheet that I wanted a gel color change. And what does the nail tech do? Tried to do a full pedicure before I had to stop her, and then ended up doing a full manicure (that costs $38 bucks plus a $2 fee for taking the old ones off - a total ripoff). Why are you not listening to your customers? I didn't want to cause a scene so I just paid the full price for the manicure but I've been feeling upset about spending that much money on something I never asked for. After all of that, it's starting to chip after less than 24 hrs. I'm taking my $$ right back to Mimosa on 18th street because they do an excellent job, the manicure never chips before 2 weeks and don't they don't try and scam you. read more

I went in for a regular mani and pedi. When I got there the woman who was going to do my nails didn't even acknowledge me. I brushed it off. As she was painting my nail I asked her to only do two coats because three is too thick. She said 3 was better and proceeded until I gently said two. Then they started speaking in Korean. She then put on the disposable flip flops instead of the ones I wore there which would have avoided switching over. At the point I cancelled my manicure. They are extremely rude in there. read more

Walked in and out in 30 minutes without an appointment on a Saturday morning. Salon is pretty and clean and the tech did a great job on my nails. I got a gel polish change and it was a good price! Tech was very receptive to how I wanted my nails shaped. Overall I'm a happy customer. I'm only giving 4 starts because some of the tools were communal (I think they have been used on other customers) but there was no clipping cuticle or nail so it didn't bother me too much. It was the nail file and buffer block. I used to go to a salon that never reused anything and had them in sanitized packets, so that's my standard. I don't think it was unsanitary however. read more

Yikes. What a mess! I had a 3:00 appointment for gel nails. I sat there until ~3:25 until I was seen without apology. While the technician was doing my nails, she asked to be reminded what hand she had already done. After, I noticed my right thumb had polish missing from the edge of my nails. The technician 's solution was to file my nail down. Four days later, the polish on that nail is peeling back and so I have to be careful to not lose it. TWO days after my manicure, I was in the airport (I had gotten a gel manicure because I was going on work travel and wanted to look good) when the polish on my left off simply flew off while I was unzipping my bag. I now carry around the polish hoping I can glue it back on... though it is hard to find super glue in the country I am in. Five days in, almost all my nails are chipped. This has become my go-to spot because LyLy is a miracle worker! Even the first time I went to her (my nails were messy, weak, and uneven) she was able to take my disastrous nails and make them look perfect. Now several months later they look the best they ever have! She has such attention to detail, shaping them so that they're all even and uniform--no matter what shape I ask for or the condition they're in when I arrive. She goes out of her way to identify ways to help my natural nails hold up better--putting extra layers on the tips, etc.--so that they last between appointments. I have walked in thinking there is no way my nails can ever recover after having to go somewhere else, and somehow I walk out with them perfect. On top of all of that, the space is new, clean, and modern. I have never had issues getting an appointment and can often walk-in. I will note that like many other nail bars they take tips in cash. As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I'm thrilled to have a spot I can count on so close! read more
