I had a relaxing experience and after 25 days my nails have barely chipped at all. I'm super impressed and will be coming back. Thank you for the great work! It is nice to know your nails will last a month when you travel a lot for work, and don't have time to be at the salon!! Both hands look the same, I also built furniture, moved, did laundry, and cooked! I did not go easy on these nails lol

gel by Wednesday at 2pm, manicure was 2pm on Saturday

I am a repeat customer and came in every two weeks for nail services. I am usually 100% satisfied with customer service and with my nails. I am always on time for my appointments and tip 20%. Unfortunately, I came in to Varnish Lane Navy Yard for a gel manicure on Saturday March 23, 2024. My nails immediately started lifting and peeling. Four days later (today) all of my nail polish is fully removed except for a tiny pit on my left pinky. I called and was instructed to send pictures to Patricia. Patricia said her manager only approved 7 of my nails to be repainted or 50% off (The operational manager of Navy Yard would not give me her name so I only have the position to reference to.) She said they looked like I peeled them off myself on purpose. The reality of the situation is that I'm a busy lawyer and coming into the nail salon twice in 4 days is definitely a inconvenience to me and certainly not intentional. I was willing to pay the extra amount (62.40) for a gel manicure plus tip for good nails but definitely will not be shelling out that amount anymore. I am so turned off by this experience that I will no longer be a customer of Varnish Lane!!!!!

    3 days after no chip

I usually go to the Varnish Lane Mount Vernon location but took and appointment at the Navy Yard location because I needed my nails done last minute before a conference. 3 days after getting my gel manicure done it began to chip at my conference. It was the most embarrassing thing. I have tried to reach out to this location but no one gets back to me. Do yourself a favor and find a different nail salon!

The interior is aesthetically pleasing, but it's not worth the price. Something to note: they don't do dip removal, so if you have dip you need to take it off yourself before you go in or they'll up-charge you more than their price for gel removal. The total for my dip removal, gel manicure, and design would have been $93. Insane for the outcome I got. My service was comped, aside from tip, because I had an appointment during their grand opening that they had to cancel. It's only been 3 days, and 2 of my nails (last pic) have already broken, something that's never happened before. The white was my inspiration pic, but I asked for a pink version that fit with my nail. It's giving Patrick Star vibes. Won't be going back, don't think the quality is worth the price tag.

My second visit was as fantastic as the first! Had a pedi this time and my toes are still sandal-worthy days later!

I read some good reviews about this place so I decided to check them out but unfortunately my…read moreexperience was the total opposite. It's small & clean in a nice looking neighborhood. I went in for a basic mani & French pedi. Now for those that get French - we know it's a specialized service (meaning they upcharge for it). A specialized service needs a specialist. While the nail tech was polite and tried her best, you could tell that wasn't her speciality and with the language barrier it was hard communicating exactly what was needed. Plus I think techs today put more effort into those that get gel/acrylic etc over basic/natural which is disappointing. She asked me if I wanted my toes cut down (I said yes) but she ended up filing them so they were still long. The towels are pretty dingy and they dry your feet with the same towel they work on, cuticle clean up was great but the leg massage was way too much pressure. I asked for bubble bath nail color but they gave me a purple equivalent & I had to ask for a 2nd coat. The white lines aren't crispy, & while I appreciate her trying to emulate the look I had when I came in, I think it would've been better if she just did her own thing. The manicure was standard, she skipped a few nails and had to go back. I asked for square square all around (hands & feet) but ended up with round square. Again, she was sweet & polite but for $78 - it wasn't worth the experience, especially not the French because my toe nails are still long so you can barely see the white tips and the color gives more of a purple than pink

Meticulous, precise, clean, patient, hospitable. I have absolutely zero complaints about this place. I wanted gel x, a cat eye look and my nails were done beautifully. While my nail tech was doing my nails, I decided I wanted them a little shorter and was met with no resistance. She happily obliged to any and all request regarding my nails. She took her time, made sure I liked the design of the first nail before continuing on to complete the rest of my nails. It was the most enjoyable experience I've had at a nail salon in a long time. I'm sold and I will be returning.

I originally came in for a pedicure and a full set, but I ended up not getting the full set I'll explain why. When I sat down, I was never asked if I wanted a drink, while other white customers around me were. I was also not given a menu to choose the type of pedicure I wanted. That immediately rubbed me the wrong way treat everyone the same. I asked for square nails and told her multiple times not to round them, yet she continued to do so anyway. I requested French toes with a soft pink base and black tips, but she acted like she couldn't find the colors. At that point, I told her to just do solid black to keep it moving. When we went to her nail station, I showed her the reference for the full set pink acrylic with a black French tip. She tried to tell me it wasn't possible and claimed she only had gel polish. I had to pull up a TikTok and show her, and suddenly she understood exactly what I meant. By then, I already knew my nails were about to be messed up, so I told her to just do a manicure instead. I paid over $100, and my polish is already peeling off. On top of that, the tools do not appear to be properly disinfected, which is unacceptable. I am a board-certified esthetician, and this experience was extremely unprofessional. Connie was careless, and this salon overall was a huge disappointment. I will not be returning. So pissed my gel polish is already coming off..
