THEY OFFER A THOUSAND NEW THINGS, BUT NO LONGER CAN YOU GET THE BEST THING ON THE MENU. NO MORE BUTTERCREAM FROSTING CELEBRATION COOKIES.... WHY? Insomnia cookies had the perfect special occasion cookie with a message that it was the best special occasion pastry. However, in their rush to expand, someone decided that the core product for this company didn't need the buttercream icing. I ordered a 10" Cookie with a "Happy Birthday Message" that I expected to be printed on sugar paper and attached to the cookie with the most amazing buttercream icing around the message and around the edge of the cookie. The combo of buttercream icing, and a cookie is just over-the-top decadent and makes the perfect special occasion dessert. Only this time, when I ordered it, the message was printed on just normal paper, which had fallen to the bottom of the cooker and melted into the cookie. It was a total mess and we had to throw it away. When I called, the manager told me that they stopped offering the message printed on sugar paper, and it was now printed on just plain paper and was not meant to be eaten. She further explained that they no longer offered the 10" cookie with buttercream icing piped around the outer edge and the message's edge. Instead of printing the message on edible sugar paper, the message was printed on just normal paper, which she said sometimes comes loose during delivery, and if the cookie is right out of the oven, it can get melted into the cookie. I don't understand why Insomnia would stop offering the 10" cookie with the special customizable message in the center printed on a sugar wafer that is edged in icing. That product was the only reason why I ever ordered from Insomnia; it was the perfect way to say Happy Birthday or any other special occasion; they offered messages for every occasion. Why mess up their best product by removing the buttercream frosting? Now it's just a 10" cookie that is way too thick with a piece of printed paper that says Happy Birthday. The paper isn't supposed to be eaten; it is no longer a sugar wafer, just paper on a cookie. Meanwhile, Insomnia has added five times more cookie flavors that are essentially the same--sugar cookie, snickerdoodle, and confetti are essentially all the same flavor cookies. Then there are all the different boxes, which they now charge $3 for the box to put the cookie in and ice cream. In other words, they added a whole bunch of nothing. Ordering a cookie requires you to download an app, sign up, then page down through hundreds of different variations of essentially the same thing to find the cookie you want finally. If you read the description and then go back, it will bounce you to the top of the menu. So. you have to scroll, scroll, scroll, and get back to the cookie you are looking for. It's almost as if someone made it overly complex on purpose. They essentially offer 4 flavors of cookies with slight variations that turn into hundreds of options. In short, a whole lot of nothing. Insomnia, why did you have to ruin the best product you offered? The 10" celebration cookie with a custom message printed on a candy wafer, then iced with buttercream frosting, was incredible, and now you don't offer it anymore? Why would you mess up the one thing you offered that was different from anyone else? There are 100 different cookie companies in New York, but Insomnia was the only one with a celebration cookie, which is now gone, Really poor choice to get rid of the best product you offered. read more

I haven't tried my cookies yet but my friend got his deluxe triple chocolate chunk which he said it was SUPER SOFT and that he really liked it. I love cookies, if my friend liked his chocolate chunk cookie then I probably wouldn't be disappointed with my cookies that I have chosen. I liked it because the chocolate was nice and gooey but overall pales in comparison to Levain. Chocolate PB cup: Eat one of these babies and you won't feel like getting off the couch anytime soon. This needs to come with a bottle of milk as a chaser. Towards the end, the cookie verged on being sickeningly sweet and dense. Double chocolate mint: Surprisingly my favorite out of the three. The mint wasn't overpoweringly strong (in other words, did not remind me of chewing on a stick of toothpaste). All in all, quick and convenient to satisfy a cookie fix but probably not the best options in the neighborhood.
