Pickup counter
Susan C.

Tried this location of Wonder today with a friend after having eaten over a dozen times at one of their other locations. A generally positive experience and would come by again if I wanted something decently tasty and a slight step up in number of options compared to places like Dig Inn, Cava, Naya and Sweetgreen to eat in the neighborhood. This is a ghost kitchen with a variety of "restaurant names" and cuisines to choose from, and they have dozens of locations popping up in the NY metro area, marketing themselves as "a new kind of food hall." Order online, via their app or in person at a kiosk and food takes about 10-30 minutes to be ready depending on the time of day. Food is made to order and ingredients are fresh. Walking into this location kiosks and single non-gender restroom are to the back left, pickup shelves and counter to the back right, and about a dozen seats to the immediate right. We went with a couple of my tried and true options here: - chicken souvlaki and avocado open face pits sandwich from Yasas $14.20: comes with grilled chicken chunks, tomatoes, cucumbers, red pepper, feta, avocado, romaine, hummus, eggplant spread, and crispy shallots, on a warm fluffy pita. Kinda like a Mediterranean flatbread covered with lots of toppings. Tasty lunch fare. - build-your-own salad from Royal Greens $9.95+marinated tofu $2.50: choose your own lettuce and/grains mix, I chose kale and quinoa, add up to six toppings (I chose edamame, beets, pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, herbed broccoli, roasted sweet potatoes), two crunch toppings (I chose only croutons this time and seems like somehow they were missed), a mini pita (if it's early enough--sometimes they run out), with a choice of dressing (charred scallion is one of my favorites here). - for drinks ordered a Diet Coke $2.50 no description needed and Poppi root beer $3.50 which is a soda with less sugar than normal (5g versus 20g+). Generally speaking since there are many cuisines coming out of the same kitchen, feels like there are items used across recipes where some dishes may have ingredients and flavors that work better with other dishes. For example I've tried poke once from Hanu Poke and it tasted kinda like a salad from Royal Greens with chunks of not-quite-made-for-poke-cuts of salmon added. And the beef burrito from Limesalt tasted like it used similar ingredients as used in the beef souvlaki sandwich. To be fair the items that are unique I've tried so far are decent quality and delicious.

I've had wonder a few times trying multiple restaurants and have only found 1 item to be so good and priced well it's worth returning. The souvlaki salad from Yaas by Michael Simon. The food is NEVER ready within the timeframe they say so always order way in advance. As I wait for food as I write this review the inside is packed and I have witnessed an employee on her phone for the last 5-7 minutes in the kitchen area. I hope she washed her hands before touching any food. This place has potential but they need better management and some dishes need higher quality ingredients.

Beef souvlaki bowl.

We got an experimental order of takeout from Wonder. I have a bias against ghost kitchens. The proliferation of them during the pandemic has established them as a fixture in the USA. I can better understand them in suburbs and small towns that lack an assortment of restaurants. Manhattan is full of genuine, small restaurants. So why patronize a corporate entity like this? Having said that, we figured what the hell... The online ordering process is straightforward. It's a bit unnerving to see all of those different restaurants on one website. We ordered Greek food from two ostensibly different restaurants. I had a beef souvlaki grain bowl and my wife had a salad. We also ordered a chicken souvlaki sandwich. The type of chicken wasn't specified. We assumed that it would be white meat, but it was dark meat. The food was good and the ingredients seemed to be good quality. This place stands up well against other chains like Chopt and Sweetgreen. It will fill a niche for take out. I would still rather dine in a real restaurant.

Cobb salad from Royal Greens

Delivery took a bit. All fine. Cobb Salad from Royal Greens: 7/10 - I wish the lettuce was chopped, solid salad Truffle Mac and cheese from The Mainstay: 7/10 - good but nothing special Garlic fries from Fred's: 9/10 - can't do fries wrong

Truffle parm wings with a side of homemade blue cheese ?
Gabriela P.

If I could rate this no stars I would. If you need a quick ER trip please order this meal. The salt did come with fries, wings and a drink. Everything is heavily salted. I tasted no garlic or any parm on any of the wings, just salt. The fries were crispy but salty. The wings were also on the large side which is not preferred. I ordered a side of blue cheese and receive this homemade dilly something which wasn't bad but not the blue cheese flavor I expected. The drink that comes with the order did come very cold and it was appreciated. Not as upset about the order because I did have a first time promo code I was able to use but overall would not order this ever again.

A variety of virtual food hall "booths".
Al H.

I was passing by and this place caught my eye. It had been open about a month. The concept is a virtual food hall with booths created by celebrity chefs, such as Bobby Flay, Michael Symon, and even Di Fara's Pizzerria. Physical premises would not let on that there are so many menu choices. You are faced with a line of tablets where you place your order and pay up front. There is an option to complete your purchase with cash, but I paid with a credit card. If you download the app, ypu will receive a $5 credit on your first order. Although it appears they are set up for takeout and delivery, there are a number of tables to seat 2 or 3 and a few stools at a window counter looking out towards East 86th Street. The food came out very quickly. There is a casual feel, but the food I enjoyed had a sit down feel and was delicious. When ordering, there was an option for additional beef to what was originally included for $2 more, but I took the standard portion, for me was fine. The steak was nicely seasoned and tender. My Greek salad came with nice feta cheese and everythingwas fresh. Although I requested red wine vinaigrette dressing, I got just vinegrette. To use the rest room, there is a single occupancy accommodation.

Wings, pizza, and fries. TRASH
Justin W.

Trash. Ordered the "Detroit" pizza, the peri peri wings, and the fries. I ordered off the wonder app. Clearly this food is meant for the taste buds of upper Eastside. Typical. Because not only is this food bland it's definitely not what it advertises to be. Think of it like this... TV dinners with extra sauce on it from people who think they know flavor. Zero stars. Food is just disgusting.

Sun was our staff person who provided us with our order. We ordered from Limesalt (similar to chipotle where you can make your own bowl and the salsa sauce red one was so good with fresh veges ground up in there!). Sun was very nice and friendly. And Alisha was also nice too! There's a code for the bathroom and it's very nice that it's air-conditioned and that there is even a bathroom to begin with. It is gender neutral. And right now they have a promotional where you get a free dessert for an order. We got magnolia bakery banana pudding. It was really good. They have many ghost kitchens across the 5 boroughs and even one in Bay Ridge brooklyn. We also ordered a Poboy shrimp sandwich, which was pretty good also with the bread toasted and fried shrimp. If you have a friend who has a cold, you could use that code for $15 off your first and second order. And the person who gives you the Code can also get $15 off their next order. The concept is really amazing because you can order at a wonder location that's closest to you and order from many different restaurants in this one app and then you don't have to pay for delivery fees because you're picking it up yourself. And you don't have to wait for the delivery person because you can just get it when you're ready. The food is not great, but I'm sure there are certain dishes that are really amazing. I just haven't tried everything yet. But I think this is really efficient because you can order from many food places in 1 ghost kitchen and pick up yourself when you have time.

Mushroom & Goat Cheese Bruschetta !
Jasmine S.

Must try!! My fav entree. It comes with at least 4 to 5 pieces of bruschetta. Btw! Shoutout to the team at Wonder E.86th street! I felt the energy off the walk in. Thanks for making my day. It was also nice and clean inside, down to the bathroom!

Alexa T.

I used my friend's code to get $15 off an order of $20 or more. I chose to pick up and I got a poke bowl and spicy tuna. The poke bowl was huge!! I would order again.

Whitney D.

I came here for the opening of street bird. Wonder has a few restaurants in one. Sounds odd I know. But it's an interesting concept and there are more food choices for the community. The place itself is pretty small with some places to sit. There are 22 restaurants within this wonder. You order your food from tablets that are set up by the counter. There is delivery/ take out from wonder too.

Counter
Toby L.

It's a food hall. The idea is you can: -order and eat here -pick up and take home -order delivery They have at least 12 menus from different places, and apparently 5 different kitchen areas in the back. You can order electronically at the booth or download the app. They do have a small area to eat with several tables.

What a bizarre concept. I will never go to any Wonder restaurant again. There are so many other restaurants in NYC.

LimeSalt uses fresh ingredients, and the bowl is well balanced. You can get a better deal and tastier dishes than the typical Tex-Mex.

I entered and viewed a smorgasbord of restaurants to satisfy different appetites: Pizza? Check! Thai? Check! Sweets? Check! Fried Chicken? Check! Happy Hour? Yep! Ambience? Casual "elegance".. there is a wealth of communal seating. Some tables have whimsical stools made of cork to sit, booths and comfy leather chairs. There are more restaurants in the upper level. Here are some additional facts: 1. You catch E,F,R train to Queensboro Plaza stop, the food hall is steps away 2. The food hall is located on Jackson Avenue and there is shopping and other cool places to scope out 3. The hall was designed by METTRA, "the space features a modern industrial design, steel archways, and plenty of open communal seating. "The vibe is "trendy, casual, and social--frequently hosting evening DJ sets, themed trivia nights, and happy hours." Cool! I definitely would come back to try the other restaurants and of course Happy Hour. More to come!

Though on a serious note--kinda bummed bc I wanted to make one last visit before they closed July 17, though unfortunately I didn't make it back to town in time :( What a loss of a cultural connection point for the city! Food is a gateway to experiencing and understanding other cultures and this location was front and center in midtown, blocks from Times Square. In a sea of other cuisines, this part of Southeast Asia didn't/doesn't have much representation in general in Manhattan, and even less so now. Scouring articles and comments online I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they're able to find a different space in the near future! Was it the best food court? I'll admit this was easily debatable for many reasons. But each stall had their own standouts. Tradsiyon was a later addition though had really solid braised meat and veggie bowls; Hainan Jones stepped into a midtown scene several years ago with no other similar Hainanese chicken spots in midtown (a few others thankfully are around today); Kopifellas brought uniquely Singaporean/Malasian tea and coffee options; I still remember the first bite of Prawnaholic's signature shrimp and rib noodles tasting that savory goodness for the first time; and most of all I will dearly miss this location of Lady Wong, where I rarely walked away empty handed. Thank you for the memories (and think about that movie plot twist I mentioned above)!

The burger has a big (almost as big as the bun!) and a small chunk of flaky Cod, coated in a crisp sturdy batter. The bolo added some sweetness, which went well in the burger. Most of the bolo is missing that flaky crisp bite, but that is the nature of making it into a sandwich. The edges were still crisp. - Wedges: fantastic! Crispy exterior, with a fluffy interior. The shape (looks like it is a thick spiral cut) lends well to that texture. - Salad: was fresh, with a non descript dressing. Added some greens and crunch (onions and pickled radish) to the meal. - HK Milk Tea: Great tea flavor and not too milky. There was a lot of ice though.
