I called for an appointment at Byrd and brought my truck in this morning. I ask for a front and rear brake job, to rotate my tires and perform an all wheel alignment and to check the rear tire for a slow leak. These folks are true professionals. They informed me that I had 40% and 60% of my front and rear brakes pads remaining, (the truck has 82K mikes on it) and therefore I did not need brakes at this time. They rotated the tires and put the truck on the alignment machine. They told me no alignment adjustment was required. I expected to pay for the hours of work that was done to check my vehicle. I got the bill and was surprised that $0.00 amount was due. I actually challenged Tim and said i needed to pay something. He said no all they had done was a complimentary inspection. I appreciate honesty. when they could have followed my directions and replaced all the brakes and on top of that charged me for an alignment. Wow ...they are some honest folks. I would recommend them to anyone!

Turns out the converters were fine, sensor turned off on its own. The sensor light was the result of bad gasoline, once that cleared out the light went off. We researched failures of catalytic converters and the failure rate on modern cars. This is a rare event according to the major manufacturer of converters. We were really disappointed in this very expensive recommendation, as this business had great reviews.

I was told by a Milstead employee that their drivers were behind because of traffic and could not arrive before 7 pm. This was going to be a problem because the business my vehicle was at closed at 7 pm. The employee said that she could reschedule my service for 8 am the next day and I agreed to that. For the original service request, I spoke to a Milstead employee at 4:24 pm to confirm that they had received my request and it was confirmed. No one from Milstead contacted me to say that they were not going to be able to adhere to their arrival time. The next day, I called Milstead around 8:15 am to see if my car had been picked up and the employee said that my service had been set for 10-11 am and could not be moved to a sooner time. I let the employee know about my situation from the previous day and she said there was no documentation that my tow service was rescheduled for 8 am that day. I canceled my service with Milstead because they pushed back their arrival time twice without updating me that they would be doing so.

I had a friend, who moved from up north, trying to get his vehicles inspected elsewhere and was getting the runaround at another place. They told him he needed to spend a couple of thousand dollars before they would pass it by Texas standards. Josh and Liz looked at the list of things they said and told him that they were trying to put one over on him. He got his vehicles inspected with no hassles and passed with flying colors. Take my advice. If you are worried about being screwed by automotive shops, bring it in here and they will make you feel better.

I had my check…read moreengine light pop on, stopped by Auto Zone to have it scanned and it told me the issue was my VVT Solenoid. This was for a 2016 Santa Fe Limited. I called Hyundai, 3 week wait just to get an analysis, a couple other places gave me 5-7 days before they could analyze it and told me it would be north of $400 to fix (minimum). Then I talked to Tyler at Christian Brothers. He was willing to set up a time to check out the SUV but he also asked me a couple questions. He told me the Hyundai was known to be an internal oil burner and asked when I had my last oil change. Ironically, it was a little overdue but no warnings or anything. He said if it was a little low it could set off that solenoid issue and he advised me to get a good oil change, drive the vehicle a couple of days and see if it resets itself. If not, they would be happy to look at it. Guess what? He was 100% accurate. I changed the oil, the check engine light went off. I even had the vehicle scanned again to check and there was no code error. Imagine that, a company giving sound advice to help you and not keeping their knowledge for profit. Thanks Tyler for being inquisitive, helpful and saving me an expense that would have been unnecessary. That customer care alone made me a loyal customer.

I took my FOrd F150 to them because my regular mechanic was taking vacation when my AC went out…read more They charged me a diagnostic fee to look at it and said there was a big problem with the entire system. They wanted to put dye in to check where the leak was and said it was leaking everywhere- had to replace all the hoses and may have to get a new compressor, etc. the estimated cost of repair to the AC working was $1800. They claimed to have put in several hours tracking down all the leaks. I told them I couldn't afford that and they would discount the hours to generate good will, etc. I think they charged me around $500 which included an oil change but did nothing for my AC other than an expensive diagnosis. When my regular mechanic came back from vacation he looked at it and said it was a minor problem he sees all the time. He replaced some seals and charged it up with Freon (it is still working) and told me there were no leaks in the hoses and compressor was fine) he charged me $186. So great to work with an honest mechanic! These guys are not honest and prey on people who trust them. Don't trust them and take your vehicle to another place for a second opinion. I think you'll find it doesn't have the problem they said and it will be much cheaper. I saved over $1600 by just saying no thanks.
