$7,000 diagnosis turned out to be a $10 gasket On July 7, 2026, I took my 1989 Jaguar to Rusty's Garage because of a fuel leak. They charged me $315 for a diagnosis and told me the steel fuel tank had rusted through and was leaking fuel into the cargo area. They recommended replacing the fuel tank, hoses and lines, fuel filter, and sending unit at an estimated cost of approximately $7,000. I was skeptical because the fuel pump had recently been replaced, so I took the car to another garage for a second opinion. They found that the leak was coming from the fuel-tank sending-unit gasket...a $10 part. They replaced the gasket, and the leak stopped. They also determined that the fuel tank was not rusted out and the fuel pump was fine. I returned to Rusty's and requested a refund of the $315 diagnostic charge because their diagnosis was incorrect and could have led me to spend thousands of dollars on unnecessary repairs. They refused. I have taken other vehicles to Rusty's in the past. Their customer service has always been very good, but I have previously questioned some of the work they recommended and the prices they charged. After this experience, I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving any major repair here. read more

CONMEN BEWARE: I was told by Paul and Tim at Rusty's Garage that they had my best interest in mind and both men said this more than once. Obviously, this is Rusty's Garage catch phrase, but it's their best interest that they have in mind. My other cars were serviced by them in the past and their prices were extremely high, but because my deceased husband cared for my cars, I assumed that I had been out of the loop too long. This is not the case. Tim is Paul's sidekick and they tag team on clients with Paul being more cutthroat. Paul is excessively abrasive and it's Tim's role to cushion the blow. The way these men manipulate clients is a classical scam. They both know exactly what to say and how to swindle people. If these grifters detect that you have the slightest bit of pocket change they'll milk you for every cent you have. When my daughter's 2020 vehicle was taken to Rusty's Garage because it was experiencing clogged fuel line-type issues, they diagnosed the problem but, once again, their quote was exuberant. Foolishly, I agreed to the repairs. Unfortunately, when they test drove the vehicle after performing extensive work, they conveniently unearthed more issues. Once again, I was told by Paul that he had my best interest in mind. This is untrue and Paul is a pathological liar and conman. Rusty's Garage held my daughter's vehicle hostage for almost a month. Under the guise of "being transparent" they changed their original diagnostic more than once, always claiming that something else was awry. Unless you have the time and the finances to afford their ridiculous tow fees and unnecessary, overpriced, mechanical antics, it's in your best interest to go elsewhere. Read all of their bad reviews and pay attention to the ones written by single women. Also read Paul's comments to the bad reviews. This is for show. He acts like he's concerned, when he knows that the clients have no recourse and he has no intentions to make things right. He's a conman to the very end. Beware. read more

I have been bringing my vehicle here for over 2 years and I love how they tell you what's needed as well as what can wait until next time in detail!! PLEASE BEWARE OF THESE FAKE 5 STAR REVIEWS! They ran and charged for diagnostics without asking me. They upped my tow charge for bringing my business elsewhere. They tried to charge me 11 hours of labor for two radiator hoses and a radiator cap on a 2001 vehicle. Their price for those things was $1436. They would not give me an itemized pricing list, which is illegal. I got estimates from separate shops for the same exact job, both totaling to under $300. Over 1400 for two hoses and a cap on a car worth maybe a thousand dollars. They can and will scam you. Please please stay far away. I had admitted that I had just underwent surgery to donate a kidney and couldn't handle much, and also that I didn't know what I was doing. I am a young woman and they tried to take me to the cleaners. Don't let this happen to you. read more

Not recommended!! So disappointed in my usual auto service, Rusty's Garage. They replaced the serpentine belt on my car last May costing over $500 (this was in addition to over $4500 in A/C repairs the last 2 years - that would have been cheaper to go to dealer to have replaced, and better warranty). Last night, the belt jumped groove and partially shredded. Took into Rusty's this morning - they said they would replace the belt that was under warranty, but needed over $350 more in addition due to "additional issues in relation to the belt" - so what was I charged for in May? The belt part itself cost $40 from Autozone! Not understanding. Auto Insurance coverage paid to have my car towed back to my house. read more

I am so disappointed that Rusty's Garage in the Woodlands TX, primarily, the owner, Pat, would price gouge after all the attention this is getting in the Houston media. I feel that you have not only scammed my family but you have also threatened my daughter with THEFT and to report her to the county. She never received a bill on services that would only include towing charges. You could have texted her a bill. You quoted her $100 or less on a tow and once you had the vehicle in your possession, a quote of $1400 to replace small radiator parts. In speaking with me, her mother, on the phone, you forced me to pay $300 after telling me I was her mother, and "it was my responsibility to pay her bill" . The charge was $200 for a tow and $100 for running diagnostics that were never approved by my daughter. Mr. Pat, we only wanted 2 hoses replaced. You took advantage of a young female, also a senior citizen collecting social security and just making ends meet. You are very demeaning to women and really need to rethink your customer service skills. I have looked at some of your not so good reviews and appears that there is a history of overcharging. Eventually this will catch up with you. There are so many honest automotive garages in the Woodlands TX. I can only hope that I can save someone the frustration, aggravation, and unethical behavior that I have experienced. read more

These people are not reputable. They tried to intimidate my daughter into paying $1400.00 for replacing a pair of radiator hoses and a radiator thermostat. When I heard about this attempt I personally called them and they repeated the scope of work and cost. At that time my wife and I removed the vehicle from their site. I will admit that I tried to ignore some of the sounds that were coming from my car, probably because I knew it was going to be expensive to fix my Infiniti.
