Dr. Cohen saw me on short notice to look at my hand and arm, and he worked efficiently to treat me. I had severe carpal tunnel from my hand to the top of my shoulder. After my visit with Dr. Cohen, they felt significantly better. After some muscle testing to pinpoint the problem muscles, he used 2 different techniques on the problem muscle. One of the techniques involved a special tool and some rock tape. He explained what he was doing and why he did it, which was helpful, because I like to know that treatments on me make sense. He also aligned the bottom of my spine with a special tool. Dr. Cohen demonstrated the proper way to sit and work, which will help me going forward. I always heard amazing things about Dr. Cohen. Dr. Cohen is amazing. It would not be an overstatement to say that he literally fixed my broken, beaten body and mind and got me back in shape to run a marathon in 3 months. I've been nagged by injury and illness for several years, and have become cynical when it comes to doctors and the medical industry as a whole (allopathic or otherwise) promising to help me. So when I met him at the Solano Stroll a year ago I expected him to tell me what I already knew - that my knee was messed up and that my career as a runner was over unless I wanted to be in PT for the rest of my life. Here are the facts: - In one 15 min-session he realigned the hip that physical therapists have been telling me for years was genetic and couldn't be helped. It's like the Geico commercial: 15 minutes with him could have saved saved me 3 years of PT. - In just 1 month after beginning to see him, I was able to run a half-marathon. In 3 months I ran the full marathon I'd always dreamed of doing. - Dr. Cohen focuses on all of your issues - not just the ones you notice. I've gone in before for a routine and he'll go through the motions and detect something I hadn't - like a vertebra out of alignment or blood being shunted away from my stomach. From him I've learned how much of a toll stress takes on my body. - Dr. Cohen focuses on a holistic approach that addresses what your body really needs, not what you think it needs. This approach focuses on your mind and body working together in harmony (called the Neuro Emotional Technique) - and when one goes out the other follows suit. Many of my early appointments involved tapping into emotional stresses I'd buried in the back of my mind that were silently eating me alive from the inside. - He practices ART (Active-Release-Technique), and I can't tell you how much it has helped return me to being fully functional. As a student, I spend too much of my time with my head down staring at a book or writing (throwing out my neck and back), and as a runner and weightlifter I'm always finding new ways to pull, strain, and tighten my muscles. Where other health workers cannot seem to untangle me, Dr. Cohen always knows exactly what to do to straighten me out. - His office is a pleasant place to be with friendly people and a nice ambiance (the massage chair and chocolate doesn't hurt either). Dr. Cohen gets a rare five star review from me. He is not your every day crack and go chiropractor. Rather, he has an intuitive healing sense about him and always seems to get to the bottom of what I need when I need my monthly to bi-monthly "tune-up" (which I know I need because something in my back, neck or hips has started to hurt). Sometimes he does some cracking, sometimes he does some other forms of adjusting, stretching, or using a machine of some sort. Every time he checks pressure points and uses various other methods to get a sense of what's out of whack. I'm not exactly sure what he is doing, but I am sure that he gets to the bottom of it and my pain is almost always gone shortly thereafter. Stefan is the absolute greatest! I had been experiencing a bout of very intense sciatic and lower back pain, and was having trouble walking. Great guy. I went to him because I have an ankle that benefits from an occasional adjustment. Dr. Cohen did the usual chiropractor thing, which is try to talk me into multiple vists, but he was very nice and respectful when I said no. He did manage to sell me a second, full body adjusment, which was great. Best of all, he has been very patient in helping me to deal with my insurance company - I'll spare you the details of that issue, but Dr. Cohen is still providing me with information that the insurance jerks are demanding over a year after both visits. I was some what skeptical about how a chiropractor to help me until I injured my ribs and shoulder in a bike accident - I'm not a racer, I'm a middle-aged woman trying to stay in shape. I came to Dr Cohen after my neighbor's back problem was solved she said in three sessions. Dr. Cohen helped me figure out the source for ongoing shoulder pain that was keeping me from enjoyable physical activities. I appreciated that he asked me many questions to get at the source of the problem from a holistic perspective. He tests movements/range of motion, made adjustments, and after 5 treatments I had much more mobility and strength. He not only alleviated the pain, but discovered the cause (under and over use of various muscles) so that I could also help myself by implementing recommended exercises and stretches.
