Update --- the massages are good but payment has become a major hassle, so I can't really come here anymore. At first they used to accept my insurance. Then, they sent their request for reimbursement to the *wrong* insurance company and after they didn't get paid (since the request was sent to the wrong insurer), they said they didn't want to work with my insurer and that I'd have to pay the full price. Then came their change of heart, after my insurer cleared up the misunderstanding and paid them. Source for Wellness said I could return for a service, once again paying a copay. So I made an appointment for a service and came to a very clear understanding with them that my insurance was indeed covering the treatment. I did this BEFORE the appointment so that there would be no misunderstanding on the day of treatment. But since my appointment was in the evening there was nobody in their office to settle payment before the treatment. So imagine my surprise when a couple of days AFTER the treatment, I was informed by them that I now have to pay for all services up front and then request reimbursement by myself. If I had known they'd make me pay everything up front I would not have come. The reason I chose this place was specifically BECAUSE they said earlier that they accept insurance. I'm done. read more

In the past I have received massages that were extremely painful, but this is not the case with Raquel. Dr. Little is a wonderful and professional chiropractor. I went to see Dr. Little due to missed period for 3 months and after just 2 sessions, I got my period again! Paz gives a really good deep tissue massage. The acupuncture was painful especially when Paz inserted the thicker Chinese needles. The thinner Japanese needles did not hurt. Unfortunately, the acupuncture did not relieve my headaches. My headache came back as usual after the treatment but my shoulders did feel better. read more

I called Dr Little last minute. It was a Saturday afternoon right before the SF Marathon and I had pulled something fierce in my neck and hip from my CrossFit workouts. He got back to me and offered to meet me at the office to get me fixed up before my run. I was thoroughly impressed by his professionalism and the depth of questions he asked before performing any body work. He seemed genuinely concerned for my overall well-being. So after a bunch of massaging and various muscle manipulations, I was walking out of there (albeit a touch sore) feeling much better than I had in a few days. I first met Dr. Robert at a street festival when I was an Account Executive at East Bay Express. He was giving free consultations and looked at my spine. It turned out I was holding my head up slightly to the right and I never even realized it. My friend looked too and confirmed. After a while, I'd forgotten about the incident. Then I received a discount in the mail for an appointment to meet with him. I decided to visit him. Dr. Robert was very personable and easy to talk to. Dr. Little is awesome. I've had numerous massage therapists and two different chiropractors in my life and I always thought, "It'd be nice if these two things were in the same person so the soft tissue work and the skeletal alignments were working in better harmony." Well that's Dr. Little. His treatment method is a combination of soft tissue work - releasing tightness and tension in muscles - and skeletal work. There is no loud pop, knock-the-wind-out-of-you pressure, or pain, but I always leave feeling like my body moves more naturally, standing taller, and in less pain. Can I give a bonus star? Depending on if you are there fore preventative/maintenance care or corrective care, you could spend every visit starting with fifteen minutes in the BEST MASSAGE CHAIR IN THE WORLD. It includes calf/foot massage rather than just back/neck and they adjust where the machine things your shoulders are to make it more comfortable. AWESOME. I'd pay for just that. But then, depending on whether you are there for preventative/maintenance care or because of a current problem, you spend 20-40 minutes with Dr. Little getting all your muscular-skeletal wrinkles ironed out. Dr. Main has never treated me as a chiropractor, but she is usually the one handling my scheduling and invoicing needs. She is exceptionally pleasant and very helpful. As a nice touch they will call, email, or text you appointment reminders. If you become a loyal customer, you get a cup and eye pillow devoted to your own personal use so you are not perpetually using and throwing away little disposable water cups. Dr. Little also has an adorable little dog named Dusty who hangs out around the office at times. He never gets in the way, and he's a sweetheart. Pricing - For chiropractic? A little high - certainly higher than my last two chiropractors. But when you consider how much I was paying for a chiropractic visit and a massage appointment to get the same effect as one visit with Dr. Little? It's a bargain. read more

My back and shoulders had been killing me for about a week, the masseuse that would have been my first choice (Andrea Turner) was all booked up (and too far away in Oakland) and I had a physical training session planned the next day so I decided to go find a place that would do some magic. It was a Friday afternoon and I wasn't very hopeful that I would find a place that would give me a good sports massage on such short notice. I was working in the city that day and hoped I could find one close to work. Nope. Fortunately this place was on my way home within walking distance of the El Cerrito Plaza BART station (essentially across the street from Trader Joe's). I found this place first using google and decided to check it out based on the yelp reviews. I called and they were able to accommodate me on the same day at a time that was convenient for me. Hurray! The receptionist was very helpful and nice. I believe Raquel was the masseuse that worked on all the knots in my back and shoulders. There were some painful moments (but I took it like a man lol) as she was digging into some of those knots and there were a couple of moments when I completely dozed off for a second or two. I hope I didn't snore. I may have. It was one hour of AWESOMENESS! I drank about a gallon of water afterward and my back and shoulders felt great the next day. I apologize because I forgot to tip her! Ooops. I think I was still trying to get my bearings straight after the massage. I'll get ya next time Raquel! Although I was initially hesitant to try Chiropractic, my MD recommended it as part of my healing after being rear-ended. I immediately liked the professional, clean waiting room and the pleasant Dr. Main. She is gentle and knows what she's doing. The massage chair that you sit in for 15 minutes before your adjustment rocks! Both myself & my 3 year-old son have been seeing her and we're both feeling better. The massages are also excellent! A friend started coming here recently, raved about it, and offered me a coupon to check it out. Not one to turn down a discount, I made an appointment, despite my skepticism about chiropractic care. My exam with Dr. Main went smoothly; she was friendly and open throughout and was not put off when I expressed that skepticism. Between paperwork and exam, I was there a little over an hour and then came back a few days later for a 30-minute consultation about her finding and suggestions. That follow-up went smoothly, though I thought the video they showed scorned traditional medicine's response to any findings - for someone like me who's already uncertain about chiropractic care, that theme of "chiropractic care is rainbows and sunshine; all else is vastly inferior" was a turn-off. My subsequent conversation with Dr. Main was fine, though it seemed little different from what I'd expect from my regular doctor - work on my posture, do more stretching. In fairness, I have no chronic pains or medical issues. I understand that chiropractic care can be a lifesaver for people with such conditions who aren't helped by traditional medicine; that's just not the case for me. And to be clear, I did not undergo a treatment, so I cannot speak to its quality or effectiveness. I did also take advantage of a special they are running on massages. I got a 90-minute combination of Swedish and deep-tissue work from Raquel and was generally happy with it. She was easy to work with, responsive to questions, and checked in throughout but was not overly chatty. It was nice to have some major knots worked out, which is exactly what I needed. read more

My husband and I have had several wonderful massages with Source in the last 3 years. I recently bought a groupon to go back in and check out their chiropractic work and get a massage. I was told that the groupon would not be honored and that I needed to get my money back, even though the fine print said 6 months. The person I spoke with proceeded to rant that he would not honor services for people only coming in one time and using them. He then said "have a nice day," and hung up. It's too bad, because we are locals, with great insurance, needed and liked their services in the past. Strange treatment for trying to schedule a service with w repeat customer. I checked Yelp before attempting to make an appointment to have a massage at Source for Wellness Health Center. Let's just say I ingnored the negative Yelp comments and wanted to give a local business a chance. When trying to make my appointment today (12/17/14), I encountered a hurried gentleman who was anything but professional. When attempting to make the appointment he asked for my personal information and was curt and short with me. After asking for the information to make the appointment I got silence. I asked if he needed anything else from me and he said he was having computer issues. He asked me to hold and when he came back on line said he was still having issues scheduling the appointment and he would call me back. He then just hung up abrubtly without waiting for a response. When I called back to ask why he hung up and let him know how rude he was and that I now have a bad feeling about making an appointment with the business, he promptly told me there would be no services rendered to me and told me to get my money back and hung up on me again! I am really disappointed in this employees' lack of professionalism and customer service. I was looking forward to supporting a community business and receiving chiropractic services. I had 3 friends that were interested in coming to this business for chiropractic services and asked that I share my experience when I had my massage. I will definately share my negative experience and recommend that they NOT support this business! Bad manners in today's competitive market is NEVER OK! She knows your muscles through and through. She's probably not the best at super deep tissue massages (which is what I LOVE) but she's able to get some of my many knots for a bit. Me and my boyfriend have been trying out local spa centers and went here last Sunday to avail of the $95 two 90-minute massage for our post-Valentine's date and here's my personal rating of the over-all experience: Price & Promo: 3.5 Stars It's comparable to other spa center's prices and promotions. Place: 3 Stars Distance from where we live (El Sobrante) was okay. The traffic was very minimal. We were able to find the center right away. Parking was ample. Inside, the reception areawas quiet and relaxing. The massage/therapy room was clean. The bed was warm and the fuzzy blanket, comfy. They played a relaxing music to match the ambiance. We went there at 5pm, so it was still sunny and the room, very bright. They could use a darker shade of curtain to filter out some of the light coming in. It can also use essential oils to give a relaxing aromatherapy. The room can also get a little cold. People: Allison and Raquel (my boyfriend's massage therapist) 4 stars They were both good at their jobs. Allison has good customer service skills, is friendly and welcoming. I like her email reminder of the schedule. Raquel's massage was good, according to my boyfriend. He got a combination of Swedish and Deep Tissue massage. He said it was relaxing and that she did not talk very much. I am glad he got a good massage because I certainly didn't. My Massage therapist, Rabel: 1 star for the Effort? Here's why. He came in and asked if I wanted to tell him anything before we start the session. I didn't think he reviewed the chart I just filled-out and submitted. I told him about the things I wrote on my chart. I told him I wanted a combination of Swedish and Deep Tissue massage. He said okay and he started with my tennis elbow. He began rambling about the names of the muscles he is applying pressure on and will not keep quiet. He asked me a couple of times to inhale and exhale--I couldn't rest and relax the whole session. I think he thought I was there for treatment, not a massage! This went on for the whole 75-minute session. Afterwards, he came back with notes on what I needed to do at home and gave his name, email address and cellphone number. That's so unprofessional! I have no intentions of calling him to give me another massage and if I do (which I certainly won't), I will call Allison from the center! He was also setting me up with Allison for a follow-up appointment which I did not care for. I completely ignored him. After the massage, I developed a headached and until now, my upper back is sore. I will definitely not recommend this man to give anybody a massage. read more

I went in today because I bought a groupon for a 90 min deep tissue/ Swedish massage. It was totally worth it! I booked it with Raquel and she has amazing hands! When I went in the room, it was very nicely prepared. It smelt like calming mint, the massage table was bigger then I've ever seen, and it was warm when I laid in it. She was very vocal, which I liked. Made sure my experience was excellent. She catered to my massage needs and made sure the right amount of pressure was applied. I needed a deep tissue massage because my back has soo much knots. It hurt, but I asked for it and in the end my back felt better and more relaxed then before. I have been getting regular treatments from Dr. Main for a while now and she has done a great job of working with me on my various back and neck issues which is my main criteria for dealing with a chiropractor. The additional treatments to help me with knee pain, sinus issues and advice for overall health are an added benefit. Chiropractic is not a miracle cure all but I have worked with a variety of chiropractors in the past and I appreciate the way she tailors her approach to my needs and in my case it has given me good results. I have also received accupuncture and massage therapy from Paz who is very good as well. I'm still new to accupuncture so I don't have much to compare to, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her services based on what I've seen. Overall it's a good place with helpful folks, which makes the experience that much better. read more

Dr. Little is excellent. I highly recommend him to anyone suffering from chronic back pain. The Source for Wellness Health Center offers a more holistic approach which I very much appreciate. I have found it to be a place where I come in feeling stressed and tight, but leave feeling calm and relaxed. Compared to all other health care experiences, this is the first time I really feel that I am receiving true medical care. I feel better when I leave and I have seen a positive response to chronic low back pain after two months of regular advanced chiropractic treatments. I can't say enough good things about RAQUEL at Source for Wellness. I first went to this place back in Oct 2012 when I badly needed a massage and spotted a Groupon Now! deal for this place. And I've never looked back! :) Man, Raquel did the best massage I ever had... I'm generally very particular about massage and sensitive to what a masseuse does to me! Somehow, Raquel knows EXACTLY what I want - she's always gotten it right. She stretches my arms, pampers my neck and shoulders, and gives me a head massage exactly the way I like these to be! I've been there about 5 times so far; I got one of their massage packages after my first trip. I'm glad I did. Ultimately, I know there are many Now! massage deals all over the town. There are even "public" massages for $20/hr. But I do not like to give out my personal details to every clinic/spa out there. I am happy to stick to one place as long as it's resonably priced, aesthetically acceptable and gives me what I want. Luckily, my wife talked me into coming here after a few years (I had an injury to my back; it had been about 3 years). I had pain from time to time but I was mostly feeling discomfort, lots of cracking and a noticeable decline in organ function, mainly my bladder, elevated blood pressure and other things around my lower torso. I did not know what to expect, and honestly I was expecting a 'crack-and-go' experience where I would receive an adjustment and leave within 10-15 minutes. There is far much more going on at Dr Little's office than that! The office visits always flow very nicely. Dr Little has an incredible intuitiveness and an experienced blend of methods. I expected my back to feel better, but not this good. After a month of visits I feel like I'm 17 again. There have been improvements in my body function that I thought were in decline as a result of aging (I'm 31), but things such as my bladder function improving fantastically and my blood pressure going down significantly were signs that there was more going on that just an out of alignment spine. I am sensitive to changes in my body and I have noticed unquestionably that there have been many improvements in my body. Every visit seems to solidify that further. I wish I knew about this doctor a long time ago, as I would have become a patient years ago. One more tidbit you might find interesting: I had visited a chiro a year prior and it was 'ok'. We had done x-rays and he had discovered that I had some curving in my spine. We had done adjustments but the treatments did not have any lasting effect. Years later, when I visited Dr Little, he gave me the same, but more more detailed diagnosis + more details about what was subluxated (sp) in my lower back, identified the curve and some other vertebrae that were out of place WITHOUT xrays.
