I've seen Tank several times and will say that considering them simply an "acupuncturist" is a total undersell. They are a healer that's very passionate about the various modalities of Chinese medicine including acupuncture. In fact, our first session was mostly a qigong session. I had to experience it to believe that I could actually feel them moving qi against me without actually physically touching me, and afterwards I was able to confirm that what I sensed (eyes closed) was what they were doing. It was totally wild. Besides their skills and knowledge, Tank is just such a good listener. I love the first part of our sessions because they really ask good questions and are completely present for the conversation. I can tell they really want to know the whole context to help a person. One thing that Tank is especially good at is being sensitive to sensitive people. I get cold easily and am sensitive to noise, and every time they get the ultra-crinkly mylar blanket to warm me up (it's very light so it doesn't disturb the needles, but also super noisy), they put it on me with exquisite care to ensure the noise isn't detracting from the experience. Tank is amazing! Their needle work is very gentle and light (a lot of times I don't feel it at all!). I highly recommend their acupuncture for any ailments. Tank really listens to you and answers questions holistically, giving great advice on how to remedy via sleep, diet, or other everyday means in a very approachable manner. It had been many years since I came to Living Tree, but tank was just as warm and welcoming. This time, I came in for some acid reflux/ food poisoning symptoms that had been persisting daily for me for over a month. I felt like I had a lump in my throat and didn't have an appetite. 2 days after treatment here, the lump feeling was finally gone and I gained an appetite again! I've received care for several issues from Tank (shoulder pain, depression, digestion amongst others) and have been amazed by the insight and care that she provides. The shoulder treatment was 3 needles and provided instant and lasting relief, the treatment I received for depression was a weekly session for a few weeks and Chinese herbs to take twice a day for a week. The treatment plan for digestion included needles, advice about diet and herbs and has made a huge quality of life difference for me. Having had back pain for YEARS... and a recent worsening of symptoms, I was desperate for any relief. I made an appointment with 'Tank' at Living Tree. I wasn't expecting magic, just a little relief. I have to say, she is a very special practitioner. Takes time to assess and relate to each person. The space is warm, inviting and Tank makes sure you are comfortable. Tank was wonderful at addressing a very challenging issue - sudden tinnitus. I'd never had a sustained problem with this and when it came on I realized that there are very few options for treatment. I recently had a neck injury to where I could barely turn my head, but thanks to Tank, I found some relief. I knew if I went to my regular doctor, I would probably go home with a handful of Ibuprofen and maybe some Vicodin. So I know I needed some other alternative and I wholeheartedly believe in Easter medicine. Tank was thorough while she asked questions and assessed my condition. She was attentive and listened to my needs. The best way to approach this form of healing is to communicate your needs. When I told her I didn't like to lay on my stomach because I had difficulty breathing that way, she was accommodating. When I told her my feet runs cold, she had a heat lamp to make sure that my exposed feet were warm. She made sure I was comfortable throughout my session. She used both acupuncture and cupping to relieve some of the tension and pain in my neck and I felt a lot better coming out of the session. I also appreciated the fact that she followed up with me after my session with a phone call the next day. Bottom line: Her integrative approach to healing is highly recommended. Tank's experience in acupuncture, massage, and other holistic methods of wellness is solid. She is compassionate, a detail oriented listener and remained aware of how I was feeling throughout the whole session. Since it was my first time getting acupuncture done, I was nervous and she eased my concerns by answering (and encouraging) my questions, a level of patience and care that is not seen everyday. Tank is a highly intellectual person who clearly spends a TON of time thinking about integrative medicine. I'm a skeptical and curious person, and they happily gave me all the details I could ever want about the whats and whys and hows of their work. Tank also really takes the time to listen and asks thoughtful questions. Our first intake interview was extensive (before we even got to the table), and we have had a pretty thorough check-in at the beginning of every visit since. Based on what we discuss, and with reference to previous notes too, Tank comes up with a customized plan for the acupuncture session. The needles really don't hurt--a quick little prick in more sensitive spots, but nothing lasting. Tank is very good about checking in about comfort too, and has a calm and safe demeanor. I always feel well cared for while in their office, and consistently feel relaxed and settled upon departure. Tank is more than an acupuncturist, they are also an exceptional health coach. They helped me navigate my health insurance provider--a service I didn't even know I needed, but for which I am now so grateful. Upon learning about my struggles, Tank quickly jumped into this role seamlessly, and spent quite a bit of extra time talking to me at the beginning and end of every session. I've gone to Tank for several years, and feel better every single time, often immediately and dramatically (a surprise for me--I generally thought acupuncture was a slower and more subtle form of treatment). I went to see Tank at Living Tree for my tension headaches. I had been suffering with a headache that was interfering with my daily life off and on for years. I had tried ibuprofen, but it upsets my stomach. Mostly I had been trying to ignore it, but it got to the point where I knew I couldn't ignore it. Tank listened carefully and took a thorough history. She used her background in massage and her knowledge of acupuncture to come up with a plan for me. You will be hard pressed to find a practitioner more compassionate, understanding, and experienced with chronic pain than Tank. Too frequently, doctors, nurses and other providers (and I have seen many) treat pain as an acute, isolated experience. Even if they desire to alleviate your pain, they neither take the time to seek a root cause, nor do they consider the impact that never-ending pain has on the rest of your systems. But not Tank. Tank listened and inquired beyond my immediate symptoms/diagnoses, researched autoimmune-related pancreatitis, then assessed how the rest of my body was impacted. Tank considered the treatment plans before me, provided excellent and frank advice, and complemented the care I received from the rest of my team to ensure that I was able to function on multiple levels.
