The Inn on Coventry in Cleveland Heights has been part of the local breakfast scene since 1981. Coventry neighborhood is an eclectic neighborhood also known for its music scene, vintage finds, and whiskey. Venture out and explore the area while visiting the inn. Let me share my latest experience, one of many. AMBIANCE: This cafe feels nostalgic and comforting. Simple surroundings - white brick walls, plaid tablecloth, chalk menu boards, and CLE spirit on the walls. It feels like the cafe recently received a gentle face lift. You'll usually find the cafe quiet during early weekday mornings and very lively on weekends. Seating is limited to one dining room. If I had to describe this cafe in one word it would be unpretentious. FOOD: I visited this cafe plenty of times over the years. My favorite dish is lemon ricotta pancakes - perfectly zesty, fluffy, and perfect. I find the rest of the menu to be simple - Benedict, omelets, scrambled eggs, pancakes, burgers, and sandwiches. Early birds (7-10 AM, dine-in) get access to $7.99 value breakfast special. What a deal! My latest order included Meat Lovers Omelette ($11.32), Texas Toast ($0.50), and Hot Tea ($3.08). The price for omelette was different from the menu, listed as $12.99 in the menu. The up-charge for Texas Toast was not shared during ordering. The portion was pretty small, extremely light on the meat. Potatoes were cold. Toast was very small, and also not warm. The meal was not as good as during my previous visits. The tea was a small teapot of tea for $3.08. The tea was just Bigelow tea bags. The teapot did not look particularly clean. Pricing tea so high for tea bags is a strange choice. It seems like a very handsome profit margin. SERVICE: The service was really good and customer focused. In the past, the service used to be chaotic and mediocre. My waitress Anastasia was very warm, attentive, and anticipated my every need. She also informed me about the timing of the order. Huge kudos on service! Great change! PARKING: The main parking area is a parking garage on Coventry. The garage is city owned and free to use. There is also free limited parking in the area. I would recommend visiting the Inn for lemon ricotta pancakes. They are really a special and delicious breakfast meal. I won't be a frequent visitor. I'd rather have a more hearty breakfast that is warm and delicious.

Solid brunch and breakfast spot in Cleveland (Near Cleveland Heights). While shooting on location in Cleveland, I stayed in the CH area and found this little diner style breakfast spot. They close around 130pm so be sure not to sleep in too much! Great service and decent prices -- I recommend the Benedict -- they all seem pretty yummy. I've gotten the Eggs Benny with corn beef hash and lox. I sub the English muffin for a biscuit bc it's a better base. Good coffee, service, and food. Great spot on the weekend to get grub after a long work week. Next time maybe it'll be the pancakes!

    Steak and eggs

The inn on Coventry is a mid place. Not bad, just not great. They do great poached eggs and the hash browns are pretty crispy, but the coffee is always burnt/bitter. We got the poached eggs with crab cakes and steak with scrambled eggs. They patched eggs were very good, but the crab cakes were a little too fishy. Still good, but won't get again. The steak unfortunately was tasteless. Luke it had been boiled first and then grilled a little to warm it up, and very tough. Won't get again. The service was decent but the place was cold and loud. Like I said, not a bad place, just mid.

The food was great. Huge pancakes and the Benedict(s) were masterpieces. The cooks clearly are doing THEIR job. It really sucks because the establishment is cute, food was great, but the service was beyond subpar. It was relatively busy, so I tried to be understanding, but we made an order from our server and then saw her maybe one time after that. Someone else delivered our food, we had to ask for a coffee refill multiple times (from other staff members), only for it to be refilled once, halfway. I didn't receive my hot tea until after I finished the meal. Our plates were not taken away at any point, and it felt like ages before we received our check. I will likely be returning at some point, because the food is great and I think this place deserves a second chance. Hoping the service gets better.

A gem if the East, in my opinion. Cozy little breakfast/lunch spot. Vegan/vegetarian options available. Hennessey available also. Enjoy! Lox Benedict pictured below.

There were a bunch of regulars sitting at the counter and chatting it up with the servers. We grabbed a table and were greeted right away. The server checked on us often but didn't smother us. We also witnessed a lot of folks coming in to grab to-go orders. The menu is very simple and straightforward. They serve breakfast all day and lunch service begins at 11am. We both had breakfast. Between us, we had scrambled eggs with cheese, eggs fried over-medium, bacon, French toast, pancakes and potatoes. Everything was decent. I wished that the cheese had been cooked into the scrambled eggs and allowed to melt, but that was okay. Also, the texture of the breakfast potatoes were like mashed potatoes that had been smashed and burned on the flattop grill. We weren't a fan of those. Overall, the place was cute and quaint and the staff was friendly. Everything was priced very reasonably as well. Also, anywhere you can find the locals at is usually a good sign!

We were totally fine with that, went and grabbed a coffee from a local shop, and then returned to the restaurant. Food was great and the server was so kind! The reason for the 3-star review is because the hostess was very rude. She completely shattered an easy 5-star review. We had nine people in the family, and one was golfing. We intended to put in a takeout order for him but due to the 45-minute wait, he ended up finishing before we were even seated. We invited him to come along and then we were called to be sat. We ordered his meal for him prior to him arriving and this was still a major problem for the hostess. She basically threatened to move us back outside and told us we were "holding the table" even though we would have never done that. Instead of giving me the opportunity to explain to her we would have done takeout anyways had he not arrived(but he did because again, it was a 45 minute wait), she just continued to talk over me. It made all of us very uncomfortable and the first 10 minutes we felt very on edge and unwelcomed. She then did the same thing to our ninth person when they walked in the restaurant 5 minutes after. He had no idea what had already occurred and was also caught off guard. Most of us worked in this industry in the past, and we thought we were doing the right thing by letting her know. Thank you to everyone else who helped soften our experience. It was very appreciated. Every person who brought a dish to our table was extremely kind. We all had something different on the menu and there were no complaints!

On the outside it's a big silver diner. Looks smaller than it is. Inside there is a good amount of seating and it's not small. Parking is right out front. We sat and ordered pretty quick. I got the chicken noodle soup and salad. Kathy got the Greek salad with chicken. We both got the Greek dressing. The chicken noodle was homemade with plenty of big carrots, celery, egg noodles and a bit of chicken. It was good. Could have used a bit more chicken but it was full of veggies and tasted good. Plus it was hot. Love it. Salad came and it was a decent size. Also lots of veggies. It was just enough food. And the price was great under $8. The Greek salad could have been a bit larger. I thought it looked a bit skimpy. But Kathy got a whole chicken breast cut up. She sub's out the gyro meat. Again dressing was homemade and really good. The desserts looked super good but we did not partake. The menu is good with Bfast, lunch, dinners. Everything from burgers, sandwiches, pasta. Lots to choose from and prices are decent. Service was good. She was very attentive. Overall, good experience and good quick lunch. I'd go back.

As for everything else, this little diner is definitely locally owned and locally loved. It was only a few minutes from the farm I took my bf to go apple picking on the far east side of Cleveland. FYI!!! - The menu online is incredibly outdated!! Each thing is about 50% more expensive. Use the attached menu pictures to get an accurate idea of prices in late 2025. This is no longer a cheap place to eat. :( After about 15 minutes of waiting, we were sat at the counter right next to the cash register and could hear everything the staff said. I was enlightened as to how terrible they are treated by stingy, entitled customers. I felt terrible about my impatience at getting seated and getting our food but it seems like all the staff and cooks were just burnt out today. They still did a pretty good job at making yummy food though! My bf got a skillet with home fries and wheat toast. This was a lot of food and the toast was very thicccc and very heavily buttered. I ordered a gyro salad with tzaziki sauce and it came with buttered triangles of pita bread. Since we weren't prepared for the price changes, we just got water to drink. We both were shocked at how LARGE the portions were! The gyro meat was so good and the pita bread was nice and lightly buttered. My bf was a huge fan of the sausage in his skillet. Because we didn't want to leave the food in the car for a few hours, we ate everything and did not have leftovers although we could have! Not sure how well my gyro salad would taste as leftovers though so it was probably best I ate everything. Lastly, I made sure to thank them and tip generously. I hope everyone else there did the same. I ended up paying about $42.
