I just love Peruvian food! For those of you who haven't had it, it can be hard to describe. It's nothing like Mexican food or anything else really. It's a fusion of Spanish and Asian influences, and it's delicious. My favorite items on the menu here are the Picante Mariscos (like a stew with potatoes and mild gravy sauce served with rice), Peruvian Paella (saffron rice with seafood), Peruvian Boullibase (seafood soup). One of the most popular dishes is the Saltado which is kind of a stir fry with onions, tomatoes, french fries, and your choice of protein in a lovely soy/balsamic sauce. As you can see I happen to love seafood, but they have excellent chicken, beef, and vegetarian dishes as well. Before the meal they serve warm baguette with the Aji green chili sauce, so yum! read more

Visiting Laguna Beach and decided to treat some new friends to Peruvian food. Being Peruvian myself I was crossing my fingers the experience would be a good one. It sure was!!! The food was amazing and the service outstanding! The prices are pretty good for the portion sizes. The Chicha Morada homemade and honestly, just like my abuelita would make it! Made me miss her. My only regret was not having taken any pictures! Sorry! Dishes ordered were: Parihuela, Lo Saltado, Tallarín Verde, Seco Norteño (that's what I had!) and Chicha Morada to drink along with Inka Cola and some Cusqueñas (beer). Highly recommend! read more

I live in Quail Hill very close to this restaurant and I have been coming here off and on for two years. Most recent experience was on our date night with my wife. Juanita introduces herself as your server was very polite and professional. She always seems to be very happy and has the love and passion in her job. It really felt like eating at a Disney restaurant with her hospitality. The food is always great. Arroz con pollo is a classic and chicken picante is my all time favorite. Food is excellent. Our usual server, Juana, is professional . She was not there on Wednesday, April 6 and Jose was new and attentive. However, there was another new server who stood at the counter and constantly lint rolled himself. Then he shouted to a customer outside if he was going to eat there. Then he came over and took our bread plate away because he thought we needed more space on the table. The guy definitely needs some dining and hospitality training. Great go-to place for Peruvian food. I've enjoyed Peruvian food for a good while now. I have clear favorites--chaufa, tallarin, lomo saltado, picante, aji, yum! Some restaurants do a few, or sometimes, one or two, well. The people at Inka's have yet to disappoint. Everything I've tried here is excellent. A previous favorite Peruvian restaurant of mine was hearty and flavorful but tended to be greasy. Inka's brings the flavor and eschews the grease, making them my new favorites, supplanting a long time favorite. I definitely recommend the chaufas (they're all good and you can have seafood/chicken/beef or a combo), and the tallarin verde con pollo. The breaded chicken is spot on and goes perfectly with the pesto spaghetti. The staff here is always friendly and remembers the regulars. There's nothing like feeling welcome in a place that brings quality and flavor to the table. The best thing is that Inka's is right around the corner from the office. read more

Their food made me sick... As an appetizer we ordered the ceviche -- the calamari and shrimp were okay but the fish was super fishy. I am not sure how fresh it was. The other dish I ordered was the Tallarin a la mar - A lightly fried fillet of fish, topped with a sauce of tomatoes, onions, garlic, sautéed shrimp and calamari, served on spaghetti. This dish was not impressive either. The fish tastes like dirt, you can tell the fish they served was a bottom feeder. The other dish we had was the Jugoso -- this dish was made up of a fillet of fish cooked in a broth of tomatoes, garlic and onion topped with a splash of Peruvian wine, served with yucca and steamed rice. AGAIN! with the fish. :P The descriptions on their menu sound a lot better than they really are. The service was a whole other issue. Both the bus boy and the waiter were rude and ambivalent. You got the feeling they didn't want you there and you were imposing on their Saturday night. You would assume for a place that does not have a great location and not a lot of people coming in they would be a little happier when they do see people. This Inka's is close to my house and office, and the food is as good as their other sister restaurants (the one on Bristol and thelake forest one). OUt of all the peruvian places, I only ONLY only like the green sauce from Inka's. it tastes exactly the way I like it. Some places add peanut butter and other stuff to make it sweeter, and I am really not the fan. sorry!!! Service is always friendly, as its the family that works there, to wait the tables and the front. It shows in their interaction. THey are proud of their ownership to this place, and do everything to keep the service nice sweet and friendly!!! Prices are reasonable. They are on a business park, so I dont know how much of a good crowd they get, but during the work day they get by just fine 'coz of the blizzard and other office people coming here. read more

Honestly some of the WORST service I have had in a long time. I really hate to give 2 stars but the service was just that bad. My parents own and operate a small family restaurant so I totally understand when things get busy but this was outside of my comfort zone. So I meet my friends here for lunch yesterday at around 12:20. I was about 10 mins late so i got there at around 12:30. I sat down with my friends and waited for someone to take my order. My friends had already gotten their food and were chowing down. It took 10 mins and constant waving for someone to come over and take my drink and food order. I got the Chicken lettuce wraps. It felt like they purposely were ignoring me. Well as I waited for my food and enjoyed my company I realized they were done eating and I still had not gotten my food. Its now 1:00 and nearing time for us to leave. How long does it take to make chicken wraps? With much waving I asked the waitress if I could just cancel my order. She said "you were late, its almost ready." I told her could I then get it to go? With a quick ok she ran off. Well 10 mins later I finally got my togo. I would think in 10 mins you could easily have cancelled my order but se la vi. We tried splitting the check between 3 cards and were told they only take up to two cards.... In a business heavy location like this I was surprised. Anyways I payed my $8.00 went and took the food back to my office. I open the box to find literally half a head of lettuce. With wraps they usually separate the heart out for you but not in this case (see photo). The outer leaves were wilty I had to pull them off to get to the better ones inside. The chicken was tender and well flavored though a little salty for my taste. (I am more sensitive to salt than most). 2 1/2 stars for the food -3 for the poor bordering on rude service. read more

It had been an incredibly hard week for the family, so we needed to tie it up nice. Lovely atmosphere on a Friday night. Server was so kind. Would have appreciated real candles, but hey; safety pays. This was my first try at Peruvian. I've been a big fan of Puerto Rican and Colombian food, so I decided to expand my palate of Latin American food. The cheese and spinach empanadas were killer with the lime sauce. The cilantro sauce on the bread was way too spicy for a spice lover like myself to enjoy. I had a main of the Seafood Saltado: shrimp, squid, fish, stir fried with fries, onions, and peppers. The garlicky spice all over the dish was lovely. Squid wasn't rubbery. Shrimp was delicious, but I felt skimped out on only having two. An overabundance of onions. Would have appreciated another vegetable and crispier fries (add them in to the stir fry last for just a few seconds!) Asked for fried sweet plantains on the side. Before heading over to a Kings of Leon concert, a good friend of mine raved about this Peruvian restaurant and suggested to grab some Peruvian food. I love Peruvian food! So we were all up for it. The location is situated in a business park area. I'm sure this place gets overly crowded during lunch break on a weekday. I can see that happening. When we picked up the food, I noticed that the worker knew my friends. Apparently they frequent the place so they were all chummy with one another. I signed for the bill and left a tip even though it was take-out. I normally don't do that for take-out. But because she, the worker, was very nice, friendly, and she included some bread and dipping sauces for us as well. Also, she knew who my friends were. So I gave a couple of bucks. On the way to the concert, I can smell the aroma from the food. I was so tempted to sample my meal! After a quick detour to the concert, we finally reached the parking lot and had a mini tailgate session going on. We had a case of beer and a bottle of wine to go with our food. So we were ready to dig in. Or were we? They didn't include utensils nor any napkins for us to use. LAME! Luckily my friend had a couple of plastic forks in his truck. I don't know if I was just hungry or if it was the tease from the aroma that I kept smelling on the way to the concert, but my order was pretty damn good! I ordered the arros con pollo, which is green rice with marinated grilled bonless chicken. It had a little bit of a kick to it, but that just made it even better. I would have given them 4 stars if they included napkins and utensils. I must say that for me, this is the best Peruvian restaurant I've been to in Irvine. This place is a hidden gem. Our favorite local spot for Peruvian. Juanita is incredibly friendly and makes me feel like I'm on vacation...that's the level of customer service she provides. Very hospitable and goes above and beyond. She always makes sure we are happy. Food is amazing!! My dishes I order are usually: Beef picante, Lomo Soltado, and the empanadas appetizer. My husband usually gets similar dishes but in the chicken version. Amazing flavor. I love the Chicha Morada (sp?) drink. I've also tried the Inka Cola. Yum! My coworker kept telling me I had to try the Peruvian place near our work. It's in a non-descript business park, you can't really stumble upon it unless you work in the area. Atmosphere: Sit down. I can see why guys would like this place: very cute waitresses that kill you with kind service. Food: It was good. I had a chicken breast with sauteed onions and tomatoes with a side of steamed rice. My complaint is that it's obviously aimed for the lunch crowd, but the price is a bit high. My dish wasn't as piled on as some of the others around me, but it was $10. I see maybe $7 - $8, but perhaps you're paying a premium for the eye candy and meh bread and butter they give you at the beginning of your meal. Lowdown: Ok Peruvian option for the area, but a tad pricey. Good if you like cute girls waiting on you during your lunch break. Just a 3 for me. read more

similar to inka grill in costa mesa - big portions, decent taste, nice people. nothing out of this world but it's a good stop for lunch or dinner. i dont know which i prefer since i tried a rice dish at inka grill and tried a soup/broth here. i think the bf definitely prefers here. i liked their empanadas. but who can really go wrong with empanadas? the sauce is much better than inka grill's sauce though. i much prefer this place's emapanda sauce because it doesn't have an overpowering citrus taste and is more balanced. the aji/spicy green sauce here was much less "creamy" and a little more spicy. a lot of the entrees are spicy. spicy overload...haha :P parihuela was decent - like a seafood stew but more brothy than stew...lots of heart goodness. plenty of seating indoors and outdoors - might be good for groups! read more

Hands down the best peruvian food I've ever had. This has become a natural choice when grabbing lunch during the workday, the waitresses are great, always totally on the ball, although the lunch hour can get crazy at times. Eat here enough and they end up remembering everything about what you like, your usual drink and food order, if you want the green sauce (green sauce is so awesome!) and the spiciness you prefer in your food. Chicken Picante is my favorite dish, an excellent, spicy broth over bite sized potatoes and chicken breast sliced up, with a generous helping of white rice. They also have these awesome cookies as a desert, I can't remember what they call them, but they are like crack! The sweet potato fries and empanadas are also very tasty an excellent side to share with the table. Go try it! :) read more

The decor of the place screams "nice place for a casual lunch at work" but the cost for lunch will probably just end up making you scream "overpriced". They don't have any lunch specials on their menu so your basically going to pay the same for dinner as you are lunch which is unfortunate. The place might be good for a casual dinner but nothing more than that considering Inka's is in the middle of a business complex/park. I ordered the lomo saltado and I do have to admit the food pretty good and that green sauce is excellent. That sauce in the squeeze bottle is tasty and spicy all wrapped up into one. You can drop that sauce on anything... your lomo saltado, the complementary bread they give you, and it will make it that much better. The beef in the lomo saltado was pretty good, they used standard french fries, and the amount of onion and peppers was decent... but like I said... your looking at about $9 on average of a dish here... combine that with a drink, tax and tip.... and it can get pricey for lunch real fast. I should correct myself... they did offer a lunch special but it was to add a side for an additional but discounted cost which would drive the price up even more. No bueno. Great food, but overpriced for lunch at work. The prices are more comparable for dinner pricing, but then again, I am not sure if I would come here for dinner since the location is a bit odd. I would definitely do take out here for dinner if your in the area. All things considered, 3 star getting docked due to price. read more

I stumbled upon this gem while visiting a friend in irvine and it's pretty amazing. The decor is very chic with lounge chairs and comfy cushions, affordable prices, huge portions and friendly service. And by friendly service I mean hot girls. The spicy and delicious green sauce tastes like nothing I've ever had before and goes great with the bread. The spinach basil pasta with lightly breaded chicken breast is seasoned to perfection and melts in your mouth. The lomo saltado is also very tasty with a combination of steak, onions and french fries next to a mound of cilantro rice. The ceviche is packed with citrus and flavor. My friend and I definitely ordered more than we could eat, but that's because the low prices deceptively masked the large portions. I've been coming here for years during lunch time, as I work nearby. It's one of my favorite stops for authentic almost-like-home-cooking in the area. With all the other generic lunch stops, this place is a gem. Yes, they do get swampped sometimes especially right at noon, and yes, it is frequented by corporate males from the surronding corporate buildings. But do you blame them? It's a small place, family-run, and the girls are sweet and remember you if you visit often. To the girl who was P'd off because she thought the girls working there are big flirts and don't pay attention to you if you're a girl: I'm sorry you had that experience, but I disagree with you entirely. I come often with female co-workers and we get good service. Maybe because I'm a regular, but still, even when I started coming here, I never felt neglected. And one server even gives ME a hug sometimes. I don't know her name and I don't think she knows my name either... so, I think she flirts with everyone! LOL. It's innocent and sweet, but I guess I could see how it can be offensive to some people. Anyways, I LOVE this place, and the food is worth the wait to me. My favorites are: Lomo Saltado Arroz con Mariscos and their Empanadas are yummy! Cons: 1. The tables are way too small for the amount of plates they put on them. 2. Sometimes they forget to give you the green sauce. 3. Sometimes you don't get what you ask for or need to ask another server for something. 4. First of all, unless you're part of group of guys, you won't get much service here. If you're ok with being ignored, the food is decent. The servers, on the other hand, were ugly girls trying to pose as bimbos. I've been here twice and both times I have had really bad luck with just getting a cup of hot water (hey, it was cold out). First time, after asking for a cup of hot water, the server gave me this dumbfounded look and in her broken English said, "Oh, you know, this must be a part of the culture in the Orient, because only people from the Orient ask for hot water. That's just so different from here." I kid you not. Haha. Yep, us Oriental people love our hot water. Second time, I asked three different servers for a cup of hot water and all three times they had to ask twice "hot... water?" haha. Yes, lady, agua caliente. Needless to say, I never got my hot water. To make matters worse, each and every server has this super high-pitched voice and you can hear them flirt from across the restaurant. Haha. Hey, whatever helps that tip jar. They claim their inability to provide decent service was due to their busy lunch hour, so if you're gonna give this place a shot, be sure not to go during the twelve o'clock lunch hour. And, ladies, since a lot of guys frequent this place, beware of gross, old perverted men staring at you while you eat your salad or bowl of soup... or stand up to pay for your lunch at the register. read more

We've ate at Inka Mamas a few times and we like it, however this spot seemed to be a step above (flavor wise). I ordered the same dish at mamas spot (Ajiaco de Carne) and here it just had more flavor. The sauce base was fantastic a nice blend of flavor and spice. The empanadas were outstanding and the green sauce (whatever cilantro based sauce is called) is spicier here. Our waitress was quite friendly. She checked on us regularly and was sure to asked if we were using the sauce for the empanadas as it made it better. Drinks were consistently full even during the busy 12:00 lunch rush. Since this place is tucked away in a business center it seems to get some regulars as she knew a few patrons and their orders. They even made the announcement about a tornado warning, which you dont really hear all that often in OC. My only gripe was that she suggested the cilantro rice to my wife (which I liked more than she did) but neglected to tell her it was an extra 1.25$. Its tight seating so be sure to be there early if you are going for lunch or at least hope it doesnt rain and sit outside. This is a place that we'll go back to. read more

I can't remember where I read about this spot, but I recalled hearing this was a great hidden place to grab a unique bite. Can't say I come across too many Peruvian joints, especially in Orange County. It's bustling in here in the afternoon. There are a lot of offices nearby, so I'm guessing they have a lot of regulars. Got seated, handed a menu, and noticed everything looked kinda similar - protein, beans, rice. That's what you can expect from 90% of the offerings here. I went with the chicken... something. Number 23, I think? It was chunks of chicken, cooked in onion, garlic, and cilantro, served with white beans and either white or cilantro rice. I went cilantro. Presentation is obviously not of paramount importance for Peruvian food. The soupy white beans were the foundation for a column of rice and a decent portion of chicken chunks. But who cares how it looks? How it tastes it what matters. And it tasted good. All of the components work well together, so it's best to take a bite incorporating everything if you want to maximize flavor. I like how the beans are served up a little soupy; adds a nice element to things. Chicken was pretty good considering it wasn't white meat. read more

I like the other Inka Grills, but this location seems to be different from the rest. The menu may be the same, but the taste and portioning is off. The green sauce, which is pretty much the whole point of going to Inka Grill, just wasn't very good. It was watered down, too salty, and lacked the spiciness I love. Perhaps they were just having an off day, I don't know... But I was pretty disappointed that I couldn't douse my food in green sauce like always. I got the picante beef here. I thought it was pretty good. It wasn't what I was expecting. It's very stew-like with tough strips of beef in it. The cilantro rice wasn't anything to rave about. I like having plain rice with flavorful dishes to kind of balance out the flavors. Otherwise, there's too much going on. Also, I finished my whole plate. And a basket of bread. This has never happened before at other Inka Grills. So I have a suspicion that they may be stingy on their portions. read more

I've been here for lunch several times with coworkers, and everyone seems to like it, myself included. Service is friendly enough, food is solid. I've ordered the following dishes: Lomo Saltado: Decent, but I think there are better options. A couple coworkers get this all the time, but honestly, I think it's blander than some of the other items for whatever reason. Chicken Combinado: I like it better than the saltado. Portion size is decent, though I think there could be slightly more garlic and lime. That's probably personal preference though, since I tend to douse a lot of my stuff at home in both garlic and lime. Arroz con Pollo: Seriously good, but the portion size is reaaaally small for the price. I don't order this unless I know I'll be eating a snack afterwards or I've eaten something mid-morning. Place usually gets busy on weekdays for lunch. As I'm sure everyone has mentioned, the bread and green sauce are good, and you'll probably end up eating way more carbs than you planned.
