My friends say I am hard to please when it comes to food and I don't disagree with them. I am a good cook myself and I appreciate food that looks and tastes great. One of my favorite places to go is Inka Chicken. It is not a fancy place, but I discovered it two years ago and have been a regular customer since. I have seen many delicious looking dishes come out of the kitchen, but I have always ordered the same thing: chaufa aeropuerto. It's spice and varied flavors are so satisfying and enjoyable that I can't make myself order anything else. Maybe one day... The owner and staff of this restaurant are good, friendly people that strive to provide quality food and a pleasant atmosphere. I really can't recommend this place enough. read more

Wow. Never heard of this place but after a friendly get together, we decided to swing by here on the way back to Dallas. One of my friends works down the street from here and said it was good so decided to give it a try. Overwhelmed is the first word that came to mind when I bit into my quarter chicken. The meat is extremely tender, succulent, moist, juicy; it's been a long time since I've had proper chicken. The spices work great with the meat and provide flavor bombs with each bite. To further accentuate the taste are two sauces: a green spicy sauce that hits you up front but really takes the chicken to another level and a milder, sweeter sauce for those who like it that way. Either way you can't go wrong. You can grab some corn tortillas if you like to wrap the chicken and while they're warm and help make eating it easier, I think you can do without it. As for the sides, they let you sample everything before you pick so you know what you're getting ahead of time. If you could only pick one though, I recommend the yucca fries: starchier than its potato steak fry cousin, but it absorbs the ketchup well, is ultra crisp while puffy and tender within and is the perfect mobile to try some of that green sauce. A close second is the fried plantains, which are not as sweet as I'm used too, but well caramelized. Mashed potatoes and mac and cheese are good too, but it's the yucca fries and plantains that steal this show. You also get a free ice cream cone if you check in on yelp. This place also had some of the best service I've been to in a long time too. The guys at the counter are quick in carving up chicken, offering suggestions, being friendly in general. Heck, if you get the ice cream cone, they hand deliver it to the table. The owner/manager also comes by and checks up on each patron individually to see how their meal is. I sometimes don't even get that attention when I'm at a $$$ place. It feels strange to find this as almost fast foodish feel when the food is clearly clearly much better than that. I've never had Peruvian food before, so I knew I had to try Inka Chicken. The chicken here is amazing. Marinated over 24 hours and slow cooked over charcoal and wood. Full of flavor. They also pride themselves on being hormone free and MSG/preservative free. As for the sides, I tried a couple of them. From left to right I got the yuca (potato root), fried plantain, cilantro-lime rice, and roasted corn. All great choices! Food came out fast and the service was great. Absolutely LOVE Inka Chicken. If you're a fan of flame grilled whole chicken (pollo asado), this is THE SPOT. They sell the chicken whole, 1/2, and single portion. This is a great for family meals or I'd you're wanting hella leftovers for the rest of the week. Number of sides depends on amount of chicken. Just know you can't go wrong with any of them. My personal favorites are- yuca frita, cilantro rice, black beans, plantain, mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. Your mouth should definitely be watering by this point lol Now on to the SAUCES- Aji Amarillo is great if you love garlic and don't want spice. Rich and flavorful. My absolute favorite sauce is Huacatay & Jalaoeños. Garlic and jalaoeño pair so well with the cilantro & mint. Ask for at least two of this sauce. You're gonna want it for your chicken and yuca frita/rice/beans/mased potatoes (pretty much you'll want it to top anything!) When I'm in the mood for a salad I'll go with their Causa Limeña- a beautiful stack of mashed potatoes, quinoa, avocado, grilled chicken and another layer of mashed potatoes. If you're a fan of aguas, highly recommend you try their passion fruit lemonade. They've got delish desserts too- Tres Leches and Inka's Delight are my top two. This locally owned spot is a must try. This. Is. Damn. Good. Chicken! What makes it that good? The chicken is cooked over charcoals in a rotisserie. Just writing that down is making my mouth water. It's sweet. Succulent. Tender. Delicious! My order was straight up Peruvian/Caribbean with fried plantains and yucca fries. But it's just not the bird or the sides that make Inka Chicken great, throw in their two types of salsas, spicy and super spicy! Either one goes well with the chicken and make a great dipping sauce for the yucca. They even offered up specialty drinks ala aguas frescas style but with a South American flare to it. I ordered this cinnamon infused juice blend that was wicked good. Inka is way up north, just west of I35 from Pflugerville on Wells Branch. To me, it's worth the drive from Austin. read more

My only complaint is that ordering by phone is really difficult, the person picking up the phone have a hard time understanding me when I tried to order and omitted several items despite me repeating it 3 times and confirming he got the order. This place is so good because of value for money. The chicken is super flavorful and not dry at all. The sides are also really good. We got half a chicken with fried plantains, yucca fries, and roasted corn. Their sauces are also delicious. The mild sauce has a nice savoriness and the spicy sauce is great for the fattier parts of the chicken because it's fresh and acidic and spicy, but not too spicy. We also got the chicha morada specialty drink and it was really good and not too sweet like an artificial juice would taste. The best part is that we got more than enough to eat for two people and it was only $20. For a cheap meal that's way better than fast food, this place can't be beat. We will definitely be back when we're feeling something fast and cheap but also tastes made to order and really yummy but relatively healthy. read more

Initially I wasn't sold because chicken can be a bit boring, but INKA CHICKEN OPENED MY EYES & TASTEBUDS. Rotisserie chicken is reinvented with their charcoal burning in-house spit. We ordered the family meal #2 which includes a whole chicken and four sides. Each thing we ate was ridiculously delicious - my fave thing was def the fire roasted corn! My stomach growls just reminiscing about it. I tried Inka Chicken for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. It seems a little pricey, but if I stop and break down what I spend at other places it's not much different. I purchased a family meal with dark meat, plantains, and the vegetable medley. The chicken was so delicious, I even ate the skin and in fact that was the best part. The vegetable medley was also awesome. I love sautéed vegetables and this is carrots, onions, green beans and peppers with a little savory spice. PERFECT. I've never had plantains before and wanted to try them. They were good when fresh but definitely don't reheat well. I think next time I'll go for the rice. Last caveat - the rolls are basically Hawaiian sweet roll-type bread. Good, but nothing special. This place is different enough in a good way (including the interior) that I'll be back again. Only giving 4 out of 5 because they didn't have any empanadas when we went for lunch. They served us a new dish which was ok but we didn't care too much for the sweet plantain. However the sauces we got were the plain aji amarillo, the medium spicy aji amarillo and the jalepeno spicy sauce. My favorite was the spiciest one but I did like having the others to calm the burn. I seem to recall some song from the seventies about me and you and a dog from Peru, but since I'm in the middle of a temporary low-carb regimen, I figured it was as good as time as any to try some Peruvian rotisserie chicken. I do enjoy it when random thoughts gel neatly in an opening Yelp paragraph. And my half-order of Inka's "Just Chicken" was indeed good stuff, but if you blindfolded me with chicken samples from other BBQ places, I'm not sure I would tell the difference. You either like the taste of moist smoked poultry or you don't. And the two pieces I had seemed more like the size of very large quail, but if that were the case, it'd cost more than the $8.35 I paid. The sauces here are great, and you get a real knife & fork - I'm mildly curious how many people go for that instead of using their hands. The young lady doing everything on the Tuesday afternoon I was here was totally sweet & efficient, I hear the plantains & yuca/yucca sides are delicious, and for no particular reason, this place reminded me of a week I once spent in El Paso. Visited twice. Good both times. I had the chorizo sandwich yesterday. Everything is made fresh to order. They have their own drinks of various fruit flavors that are delicious. I've never had Peruvian before visiting but I really like it. Large dining room that was never full during my two visits. Since all food is fresh to order sometimes you might wait 10 to 15 minutes to receive your food but it's worth it. read more

My first time, I got a quarter chicken with plantains, yuca frites, the bread roll, and the mild sauce. Everything was pretty good- I found myself getting full pretty quickly. In addition, I checked in and got the free ice cream- this was not that great, just tasted like ice with a hint of vanilla. Today, I got the quarter chicken again with plantains, but mac and cheese as the other side, and the medium and spicy sauces. I think I prefer the medium sauce. The mac and cheese is actually creamy and yummy! Food is cheap, tastes great, great portions, and fast service. Definitely recommend coming here! read more
