I have accessed the Mobile Market many times at several different locations and have always found the produce to be extremely fresh and other goods to be of the highest quality. I have also volunteered at their annual Harvest Fest and Farm to Cocktail events and love how they bring the community together. I am always impressed with the passion, commitment, energy and knowledge of all the staff and I am grateful Lowell has such an amazing organization!

At their Mobile Market, I can get all kinds of produce I can't find anywhere else (lemon cucumbers, husk cherries, colorful beets, a huge variety of kale....). It's always grown locally, always in season, and you can use your SNAP card here. Check their website for the seasonal schedule. Sometimes staff will do taste tests, or offer recipe suggestions, which are really helpful. In addition to growing and selling the food, Mill City Grows also offers educational programming in gardening and preparing food, and provides support for community gardens in Lowell, so you can even grow your own with their help. I've now taken 5 personal interest cooking classes through the Northern Essex Community College…read morePersonal Interest program and can't recommend them enough. These classes are generally three hour hands on workshops held in the college's downtown Haverhill culinary school kitchens. Faculty have been friendly, knowledgable and helpful, and the food always delicious. Each instructor has the flexibility to teach their own way so it's always a new experience. Most recently I did a Thai Street food class in which our instructor, Ploy, walked us through making a rainbow salad (with carrots, apples and a variety seasonings), Thai corn fritters, red curry with chicken (served with white rice), and a fun color changing butterfly pea limeade. Our instructor was super professional and balanced learning and the practicalities or working with non-professionals just right. Other classes I've enjoyed include Empanadas, Vietnamese street food, Indian appetizers, and chinese buns. The variety offered is amazing, and you can pick either weeknights or Saturday 10am-1pm.

I felt like I got no real support from them they they didn't give me a chance to learn a lot of the basics that an RN should know by graduation. There was one Carol Nash, person, one of the instructors who was extremely unfair to me. She even admitted that she just didn't like me as a person so she decided not to give me a chance when there was an opportunity to learn; she would never let me partake in the interesting observations or learning experiences and that went on throughout the entire time. The instructors were poor quality not very fair markers, they would have their favorites. If I wasn't highly motivated to get my RN I would have never made it. And to top it off at the very end of the last semester when I was just about to graduate one of the instructors decided me and this one other student did not have good isolation technique The entire time we were in school they never said anything about that but then the last week of school they threatened not graduate me and this one other student because the instructor didn't like my technique. So in order for us to pass we both had to pay a special tutor $100 and at the time that was a lot of money in '86 $100 a piece .Yet the tutor said that both of our sterile technique was good. They tried everything just to trip me up and few other people. I wasn't the only one who was treated poorly in that school.
