First things first, I do want to point out the inconvenience of parking at this establishment. The…read moreparking is on the pricey side just for a couple hours and the app/website to pay for parking is extremely inconvenient. I do not think that the restaurant has control over that, but the plaza area that it's placed makes it such an inconvenient place to eat. My rating makes it clear that it also was not worth the time, money, nor the inconvenience of eating here. So you're just better off going somewhere else. Furthermore, trying to find the right door to this place is like trying to find Waldo within a minute of looking in the book. I was going around the whole building until I found the door. 1. The Cheeseburger Egg Rolls: this was actually the best dish out of the bunch. I enjoyed the flavor of the egg rolls and the sauce along with it was quite nice. 2. I had The Smokehouse Smash Burger and my friend had the Chicken Avocado Wrap. -The Smokehouse Smash Burger was extremely lackluster. No juiciness in the burger at all. Either I'm just not a fan of Smash Burgers or Smash Burgers just generally are bad because it was not appetizing whatsoever. My fries were excessively salty (in case the photo doesn't do much justice). We have salt and pepper seasoning on the table. Why does the chef feel the need to douse my fries in a ton of salt? I had to scrape off the salt piece by piece just to appreciate the taste of the fries. -The Chicken Avocado Wrap my friend had also came with sweet potato fries. Which again, were just as salty. The wrap was falling apart. The chicken inside the wrap had a bunch of tendons in it. Definitely not what a wrap should have. The Service was mediocre. Our waitress was nice, but not at all attentive. My friend couldn't wait to get going and leave so she had to leave without me because of how much pain she was in from sitting too long. She reported about the bad sweet potato fries and then it took forever for the new batch to come out. Not sure if it's the fault of chef or the waitress, but she was already done with her wrap by the time the waitress arrived to say the fries are coming out soon. So my friend told her they're not worth it anymore. They did refund for the fries I believe, but if the waitress had been more attentive to who she was assigned to, maybe the fries would've been handled in a timely manner, but I digress. The chef is also to blame for this lackluster meal that my friend and I had to tolerate. I'm sorry, but with The Tap Room, I am Tapping out! I will not be coming back to this place. Not just the fact that the food was mostly bad. Not just the fact that the service was poor. The parking! That's another batch of money I will never get back. It's not worth your time and money, folks. Find a unique bar/restaurant worth your while and actually is a plaza with CONVENIENT FREE PARKING

I would have given 1 star, if the staff, when present, wasn't so nice. Here was our experience: 6 PM Christmas Eve Reservation for 7 people. Showed up on time. No Hostess greeting. It took several minutes by the worker, sitting at a table directly in front of us, to realize that we should be greeted/seated. The restaurant was far from packed. There were many empty tables, and maybe 3 groups between 10 and 20 people. Menu looked decent. Ordered beverages. It took a quite a while for waiter (very nice/friendly) to take food order and a while to be served appetizers/salad. Baked clams were good. The spinach salad was slightly wilted from sitting in the kitchen heat, the onions were clearly not sliced by a chef (big inedible chunks), goat cheese was scarce, and salad barely dressed. It was 7:30 PM (1.5 hours post arrival) when the main course was served. We were starving! My father's chicken Francaise was cold and lacked sauce, but didn't want to complain. So my brother got warm sauce for him. The rest of us didn't know at this time that all meals were sub-par, luke-warm or almost cold. All of the food appeared to be sitting a while, except for the stuffed fish dish. All meals, except for the stuffed rigatoni Bolognese came with broccoli (no other choice available). The broccoli was too cold for the frozen butter to melt on it. The rigatoni was topped off with a marinara sauce that took away from the Bolognese, and was clearly sitting for some time. My nephew had to use the Francaise sauce on his beef to try to warm it, as the wait staff (very few of them) disappeared. Refill requests for beverages were not served. Empty water glasses sat for at least 1/2 hour and never was refilled. No one checked to see how our dinner was while we were eating...they knew the response they would get. We would have walked out, but it was Christmas Eve and we wouldn't get in anywhere else. It was either eat what we got, or starve. When the waiter (possibly one of the owners) finally appeared, He was clearly exhausted from running around. We wanted to be kind, as he was informed the food could have been good if it was served warm. The excuse we got was that a cook cut his hand badly and had to leave, and they were short on wait staff, as many didn't show up. He was cooking and waiting tables. This was not our problem. We tried to be sympathetic. The waiter disappeared again. When I found him was going to give us a $50 gift card to come back again. This really was not an option because my parents are elderly, I was in town from the West Coast, just for the holiday, and the rest of my family works shift work. It was an act of God that all of us could have dinner together this night. He took $50 off the bill. It should have been more. But, it was a holiday and we felt bad for him.

This place would get a 3.5, but I'm rounding down for reasons I will say in the review…read more I started off by seeing this place by searching for fish and chips. Seeing they had a Wednesday special, I decided to put off my adventure from Roslyn to Ronkonkoma from Monday to Wednesday. I also found a bunch of things I was interested in to pad my experience and make the drive worth it. The waitress came quickly, got our drink orders, took a few minutes, and we started our order. I started off by getting the Fire Island Fries, the Flanagan's Nachos minus Jalapenos and Chipotle Ranch, sub the chicken in, the Fish and Chips special with additional pay for French Onion Soup and Curry sauce, and my friend got the Penne Alla Vodka add chicken. I asked how the Mozzarella sticks were and she said they were very popular so I got those as well. We'll start with my addition. The mozzarella sticks are good. Fried properly, not raw, not burnt, you get I believe 9 in an order. I greatly enjoyed them, however I would never pay more than a buck for a small brick of cheese. They were great, but not that great. The nachos were very barebones, something getting them at full capacity wouldn't have done much for. The queso is gross, and put me off from eating too much. The avocado was a single, sliced avocado which is fine, but pretty hard to eat with chips. The chicken was a bit of an issue, not tasting great. The fire island fries were good, I enjoyed the flavor change, but I feel like some cheddar would have made them from "good" to "amazing". Adding cheddar to my leftovers later confirmed that. The french onion soup was the shiniest turd I've had the experience of eating. It is the best of the worst, in every way. The cheese tastes a bit off, the broth did't have much flavor or salt, the onions were sour, and overall it looks tremendous, proper quality, but tasted like I was eating expired progresso with some sour cheese melted over it. I love proper French Onion soup, but this was very difficult to force myself to eat. The penne alla vodka was fine, but they could have added more salt, it just felt a little bland. The chicken was hard and dry. It didn't work with the dish itself, it felt like eating two different things at once, neither of them tasting as good as they should. The fish and chips were the real star. The fish was as crunchy as you expect, the chips were proper chips. The curry was hot but delicious, everything was absolutely fantastic. If I was reviewing on the fish and chips alone, this place would absolutely get five dtars. But they need to work on the other areas of their menu, they're heavily dragging this place down. I also got the donut with ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. A donut from dunkin would have been better in my opinion, and you would save $10 assembling everything yourself. Finally, the service. It was very here and there. At first, we were getting checked up on often, but at the end, there was a good 20 minute stint where they wouldn't show up at our table and we had to flag them over to get our check. I'm not rating this against them, but I would have liked a little more observation. It was a one and done place, with excellent fish and chips this side of the pond. If I was closer, this would be a Wednesday night thing, but I'm too far to justify that.

The diner has a large lot so there's plenty of parking. Back slaps happen as we're all seated in a nice booth. Coffees are ordered all the way around, nothing too bougie. I'm waiting to see what the guys order, I want to see how adult they're gonna be. The majority is omelets with spinach and feta cheese. Nice but guess what? My wife isn't here so waffles with bacon for me! The waffle was good, typical diner food that always welcomed. Of course, like every diner they have a syrup pouches and individual pats of butter. Then the half and half mini cups, I think we had a mountain of plastic after we finished our meal. The diner, it's a very large space. They also have counter service if you are dining solo. Guys catching up, do you want to know what we talk about? Current aches and pains but more importantly, the fun we had in this neighborhood. The amount of breweries in Holbrook is crazy. We went to clubs in the 80s, now kids today drink IPAs from a microbrewery. I haven't been here in a long time but it was fun catching up. We'll be back again. Call us - The Breakfast Club

The interior was a typical diner atmosphere along with a Christmas Tree and a few holiday decorations. I was seated timely in a booth and my server appeared promptly and took my drink order. She was very pleasant. There were so many dinner choices on the menu and all the typical diner breakfast and lunch options as well. Being from NY originally, I was craving a hard roll and what better to have on it but rare roast beef with lettuce and mayo. I was in luck! I ordered and it was delivered as I expected along with complimentary pickle and cole slaw. It was an extremely cold day so hot tea was the beverage of choice. After dinner I perused the dessert case however nothing stood out so I passed. I have had many diner desserts in other places. These appeared to me as less than average. All in all the experience was average. I would have rated higher if the desserts looked appealing. My server was helpful and my sandwhich was great. I took half back to the hotel and had it for breakfast the next morning!
