    Order at counter
    Dan O.

Inferno's Pizza was a favorite of mine in days past, so I was interested when a Yelper posted that they are now in Waikiki in the Ohana Hale building at 1958 Kalakaua. Flying back home at night, I was ono for pizza. My usual pizza haunts were already closed, so it was time to chance the wilds of Waikiki for dinner! There is only street parking, but eventually I found something. Making my way to the counter, Kyle the owner, came up and gave me the menu. Inferno's sells both thin crust and Detroit-style deep crust pizzas. Having lived in the Detroit Metropolitan area for 5 years, and having been privileged to attend two Yelp events at Buddys Original Detroit Pizza, I have a soft spot for Detroit-style pizza. Due to the parking situation, I knew I wasn't going to visit Inferno's often, so I decided to order both a Combination 12" thin crust and Pepperoni & Sausage Detroit pizza to check them out. The Detroit-style pizza first came out, smelling ono-licious! After the obligatory "the camera eats first" pictures, I took my first bite with a satisfying crunch! Mmm, the crispy crust, one of my favorite things about Detroit pizza! They originally got their rectangular shape from the auto parts trays that were first used to bake them. And the tomato sauce is layered on top of the cheese in a reverse of the usual process to help prevent the cheese from being too well done in the baking. Despite the modest size of the Detroit pizza, I was nearly filled up from eating two of the slices. Although the thin crust pizza was supposed to be for take out, I grabbed a slice to try it while hot. Kyle doesn't have a brick oven at this location, so it wasn't exactly like the Inferno brick oven pizza in the past. But still satisfying! There is still the Inferno's location on Kona Street, so it's nice to have a second option. There is also a kamaaina discount available, good deal! There's a cash price and a higher price with the credit card surcharge, a not so nice deal. Total with tax and tip for the two pizzas came out to $58, average these days. Very enjoyable, Inferno's Waikiki will be part of my regular pizza rotation! Will repeat and recommend!

Had the Margherita pizza and it was outstanding! The crust was perfectly crisp on the outside with a light, chewy center, and the fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil came together beautifully. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and definitely a spot I'll be coming back to. Highly recommend Inferno Pizza if you're looking for authentic, delicious pizza!

Bruv, best pizza I've had on the island. I went with the Detroit style crust with pepperoni. I like that the marinara comes on the side.

When you first arrive, you walk through the shop and then have the option of taking the stairs--which are quite a few--or the elevator upstairs. Once you get to the actual restaurant and bar area, you're greeted with a nice little view of Waikiki below. The bar is pretty long, so I opted to sit there. They had Maui Brewing Company limited-release beers, guest taps from all over Hawaii, and their traditional year-round beers. They also have cocktails and slushies. They offer a happy hour with pizza and appetizer specials, plus $2 off beer and $3 off craft cocktails. The food menu was pretty extensive, with appetizers, salads, craft pizzas, sandwiches, and classic dinner favorites like New York steak and macadamia nut-crusted mahi mahi. They also have a kids' menu. I was mainly there to taste the beer, and I enjoyed trying some of their limited releases. The bartender was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions, which I really appreciated. They have TVs where you can watch the game, and they also had music playing, so I think this would be a fun spot to come back to at night. They even offer a late-night happy hour. Definitely a fun place to stop by if you're in Waikiki and looking for some good beer, food, and a lively atmosphere!

No wait for our party of 2, and we were sat immediately at a high top communal style table. It is a bar type establishment, with pour your own beers and wines on the wall. Not super noisy, but everyone was having their conversations and having a great time. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, and food walking past us looked amazing! The only difference to this establishment was instead of a server taking our order, we were instructed to go to the front podium to place the order when we were ready. We opted for the Fried Calamari with Cilantro Lime Aioli to start, and ordered the Chop Salad with Tofu and the Verde Bowl. The food came out so quickly, and we were actually surprised with the portion sizes for all the dishes. We were able to share the salad and bowl and still had enough to pack a take out box. Everything was delicious! I'm sure it can get busy on the weekends, but overall seems like a nice place to chill with good food, good drinks and good conversation. Wish we had more time to hang out!

Had sliced avocado and seeds, but mostly greens. The Grilled Cheese was mostly pork adobo and very little cheese. The adobo was on the salty side and didn't have the tangy adobo flavor, sadly. The bread was nicely buttered and crispy, though. Giant steak fries came with it and they were tasty. We both wanted to like this place but it seemed like only one guy was working the floor and the check-in/payment (don't like having to pay a tip in advance if service hasn't been provided yet) and serving the food. It looked like only one person was in the kitchen, too. It wasn't busy so we didn't have to wait long to be served. A plus.

The space has a more upscale feel, with a really nice vibe inside and plenty of tables. They have a great selection beyond their own beer, including cocktails, wine, non-alcoholic drinks, and guest taps. I especially loved that they offered smaller beer pours, which let me try several different beers without committing to a full pour of each. I was there for the beer, and I definitely wasn't disappointed! I was also really impressed by the food menu. They had lunch specials that sounded fantastic, and they even offer a brunch menu with special brunch cocktails. I wasn't hungry enough to try the food this time, but it definitely gives me a reason to come back. Great beer, a beautiful space, and lots of options for everyone. An afterthought at best, which is why we usually go elsewhere. Parking lot for convenience, but ONLY if you don't come at peak hours. Otherwise, it's a shit show. Why bad beer and iffy parking can be tolerated. Possibly the best fish and chips I've had on island and beyond. You get a generous, flaky filet fried in a crispy, golden beer batter with the proper proportion of fish to coating. It's paired with seasoned french fries that come hot and fresh. But. The rest of the menu is hit or miss. The burger was underwhelming. The grilled chicken sandwich arrived dry even though it was thigh meat. Some serious quality issues if that gets out of the kitchen. The list goes on. Honestly, I come back for the fish. And that's about it.

So my friend's birthday passed last week and this was an opportunity to find a place to enjoy going to, and that led me to Yard House. Coming into this review, I had limited expectations because I was unsure of what my first-time experience was going to look like. Sure enough, they get two thumbs-up from me. I decided to eat on the lighter side today, and ordered their Poke Nachos appetizer. From what I got in terms of presentation, it looked so inviting to dig into. I like the fact you can enjoy mixing and matching bites as you're eating the Nachos. The freshness of the fish, the spicy chiles, and the bites of nori, and the sauce all work really well. I really enjoyed them very much. Maybe next time, I'll try the BLT or one of the burgers (without cheese) on my next visit.
