So I admit I haven't been to their true storefront, I've just had their cheeses…read more I first encountered their cheese at Shea Cheese in Phoenix Arizona, back when I was living in that area. I was immediately wowed, but decided not to buy any at that time because I was moving to Indiana soon! I thought I'd be able to find some in Bloomington, but alas it's not easy... But as fortune had it, I ended up at a farmers' market up in Indy one day, at which they had a stand. And it lived up to expectations. The Queen Anne's Lace (which they had samples of on offer) was up to the standards of the best French bries, and much better than any of the big-name bries. Tiger Lily is a nice washed rind with the expected pungency. My complaint would be that I wish they used some non-cow milks too. I also found the rinds to be less edible than with some European cheese, but that's fine, just cut them off.

I visited for the February Open House. The group that was there got a cheese plate to sample. The…read morecheese plate consisted of Snapdragon, Nettle, Fromage Frais, Trillium, and one other cheese which I think was Dutch Tulip. They were all fantastic. There was a short presentation and then a tour given by Co-Owner Laura Davenport. It was interesting to hear about how the different cheeses are processed and how Tulip Tree Creamery came to be. After the tour I made a purchase of two cheeses: Nightshade and Fromage Frais. If you enjoy cheese then you need to check them out. Their website is https://www.tuliptreecreamery.com/ On there you can find out about all the cheeses and where to purchase them. They also have classes you can take to make your own cheese. They are located in Castleton on E 82nd, tucked behind another big Asian restaurant, so don't let it get overlooked! We went for lunch, which is a $25 all you can eat bbq and hot pot. I chose the mushroom broth and my friend got the chicken broth - there are about 8 from which to choose. You order certain meats/proteins with the server and then the rest is "salad bar style" to choose sauces, noodles, other proteins, vegetable and more to either cook on the grill or in your broth. My mushroom broth was really flavorful, and there are plenty of options. Some of my favorites today were quail eggs, lotus root, lobster rolls, dumplings, shrimp & scallops. There were also a few dessert options (some ice cream and cold jello-type of items) but we were too stuffed to try them. The soups is served in a very generous portion - I'm guessing at least a quart of broth, and at the end, our server did tell us that you can request to be served less. If it appears you are wasting food, or want to take any home, that is charged at $12.99 per pound. #yum #ReviewsByRL

We went with the spicy beef bulgogi, sirloin, ribeye, spicy five spice chicken, and garlic chicken. The meats were fresh, well marinated, and the ribeye disappeared embarrassingly fast. For the hot pot, we built a spicy broth loaded with udon noodles, lobster balls, fish balls, crab stick, bean sprouts, lotus root, corn, bell peppers, spinach, cilantro, enoki mushrooms, and carrots. The broth just kept getting better as everything cooked together, so don't judge it by the first few bites. One thing that really stood out was the service. They stayed on top of the grill, replacing it when it got too charred and oiling it without us having to ask. The hot pot bar was also impressively stocked, and I never felt like the popular ingredients had been picked over. The ambiance was upbeat without feeling chaotic, and the whole experience was one notch up from just going out to dinner. My only piece of advice is to dress in layers. Between the tabletop grill and a bubbling pot of broth, you'll be questioning every life decision that involved wearing a sweater. Overall, this is the kind of place that's worth bringing friends who like food and don't mind leaving smelling faintly of barbecue. Honestly, that's part of the experience. I can't wait to come back!

They sell a variety of pot pies, lasagnas, noodle dishes, breakfast casseroles and fruit pies. The pies are beautiful with preparing instructions on the package. I bought a Spinach-Feta Quiche, which was absolutely delicious. The small pie easily served four and was decently priced at $13. The clerk was probably the friendliest person that I ever met. She took time with each customer, smiled, thank them for purchased and packaged the frozen meals carefully. She let us know where to purchase the pies after the market closed for the season. I can't wait to try other meals. The pies/casseroles make a great gift for someone homebound.

When you are ready for a no stress great meal, you preheat your oven and stick the casserole /pot pie in and cook it per instructions on the foil top. I just made the Sweet Corn and Chicken casserole last night and was pleased with the results. Yummy. Plenty leftover for lunch tomorrow. I have heard tell that the Allisonville location is very convenient for those on the northeast side.
