Fun decor for sale

Great event and a fun coffee shop to explore. The seating was delightful with little nooks and crannies which begged for a visit. My rose latte was so aromatic and full of flavor. I felt like I was in a spring flower bed. My husband got tea and found it so tasty. He often can't find good herbal tea but they had a white tea which was lovely. It is a fun spot and we will definitely go back. Thank you for hosting a Yelp event!

I adore this cool and casual cafe in FSQ. To me, this feels more than a coffee shop. It feels like a true "third space" where people can relax, hang with friends, look at cool art, and feel a true sense of community. The employees are also so nice, the coffee is unique and delicious, and it's woman & minority owned. Just love and happy to have this in my neighborhood!

10/10 obsessed with 1656 Club's seasonal drinks! Banana Carmel? Tiramisu? Excuse me, I can't wait for next seasons!

Such a cute place! They opened just a few months ago (women owned) and are in the perfect spot, right on the corner of English and State. Super cozy with great vibes, and they had an amazing playlist going. They specialize in matcha which I was excited to discover. I got the banana horchata matcha hot, and it did not disappoint. I also tried a friend's cookie butter latte, which I thought was good, even though coffee isn't usually my thing. Can't wait to come back and try something else!

I absolutely love this little coffee shop. The area right outside of fountain Square doesn't typically have any businesses to venture to but 1656 club was just the addition that this neighborhood needed. It's at the corner of State and English and has plenty of parking on the street and off of State. The vibe inside is so eclectic and artsy. It's a perfect environment for people that wanna gather and have a conversation and then enjoy a great cup of coffee. While I was in the store, I noticed some marketing for live DJ sessions inside of the area. This is a huge industry on YouTube and I thought it was very cool. That somewhere in Indy had the same kind of vibe. There are a lot of options that are appealing to me in the coffee department. I love anything Matcha and they had a lot of drinks that featured Matcha. I opted for the Horchata latte and it was very tasty and next time I will try a Matcha latte and be able to spend a little bit more time there. They also have options for Mexican pastries like conchas and artisanal bread and even sometimes tamales. When I came, it was too late in the day for them to have any of those pastries left but next time I visit, I'll make sure I get there early so I can try some of those out. So glad that 1656 is in the neighborhood and I will definitely be back and tell my friends about this cute little shop .

Woman owned coffee shop? Count me in! My close friend lives around the corner & it's really cool to see this neighborhood on the come up! I've driven past this establishment a million times & didn't notice it but the location is perfect, right on the corner of English & State. I heard great things since it's opening & had the perfect opportunity to visit for a yoga event (Breathe & Brews) with the purchase of a ticket you received a complimentary coffee. I tried the Banana Caramel Latte & loved it! The banana didn't taste like artificial banana and it was not too sweet. It's smaller on the inside but cozy! The owner, Paloma was so nice and was working hard getting our drinks to us. I had to take my latte to go because I had plans immediately after but will plan to visit again soon!

Enjoyed the open and cozy vibes of this place! Drinks tasted light to me. The mango horchata was sweet and mango, not much of the horchata. I was a little confused my the menu because I thought it was a matcha based drink but the barista confirmed it's just mango and horchata. I didn't really taste the matcha in the coconut lavender. My friend tried the banana horchata matcha and I was able to taste all flavors. This was my favorite out of the three. I would consider trying the coffee drink if I came back.

Loved this cute coffee spot! I live a handcrafted drink and you can tell the young lady here takes pride in providing that. I was so intrigued I got two coffees lol. The s'mores and the cheesecake. Both were delicious can't wait to return.

I stopped in for a latte shortly after they opened, and the vibes were immaculate from the start. The art and music complemented each other perfectly, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere to begin my day. The barista was friendly and accommodating, even making me a Horchata Oatmilk Latte (not a regular menu item), which turned out amazing. I also love how the shop is using its space to host events and foster a sense of community. Although it's not the closest coffee spot to me, I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in the area!

This spot is a little off the beaten path, but it was worth the trip. It's on the corner of English and State, in an older part of Indy that's just a few minutes from downtown. The building is a bit older, but the inside is nicely remodeled. I immediately loved the vibe when I walked in. It's trendy and urban, with a Latinx flair. I ordered an horchata latte and pan dulce, both of which were solid. 1656 Club is relatively small and cozy, but there's plenty of seating. The music was upbeat and there's original artwork from local artists on the walls. The owner (Paloma) was working the Saturday morning shift. She and Naya both helped get my order ready, and they were super nice. Oh, and blazing fast WiFi. Definitely need to come back and work my way through the menu, because this place has a lot to offer.

Hosting fabulous exhibits featuring works by Mab herself and Indianapolis artist Justin Cooper, Monster has drawn quite the crowd on a number of 'First Friday' events, my favorites so far being Mab's Pretending to Be Human exhibit over Halloween 2013. The exterior boasts a neon MONSTER sign and a grand door to entice all passersby. Details abound the interior as well, with swoon worthly rest rooms full of character - feauting the likes of Johhny Cash, complete with black toilet paper. Beverages and sweet treats are always on hand to welcome guests and cater to children (both literally and at heart) in attendance. Make a point to stop by and take in the fabulousness that is one of the best examples of the flourishing Fountain Square art scene. Pick up some exclusive original art or perhaps a button, card or print, but you're guaranteed to leave with a smile!

But, it is well-worth the trip. Despite the fact that fire destroyed the entire interior of the building, the exterior shell was all intact. Mab and Larry (with the help of some local friends) have restored this once decrepit tavern into a unique art showing space on the first floor and whimsical living quarters above. The gallery space is small to begin with, but it gets even tighter when the many fans of the artists come out to view their works. You can tell a place (and an artist) is popular by the line extending out of the front door and along the side walk. We didn't wait too long to get in though, so no worries there. The line from the door flows around the room clockwise and takes you past a couple walls of art and ends with a small counter for purchasing prints, gifts, trinkets, and of course any of the pieces you see on the walls. My only qualm with this layout is that the bar area is tucked in the way back and breaks up the flow of the gallery walls. You may have to squeeze past the throngs of art lovers to get to it. Monster Gallery serves beer and wine to the adult guests and there is often candy and treats for any little, aspiring artists who visit. Mab and Larry are both perfect hosts and will gladly have a chat with you about art, love, life, and the likes. There's a very large FREE parking lot just behind the building and there's always an open space.

I've got a couple friends who regularly have exhibits in shows at The Garfield Park Arts Center,…read morehowever, since I live in Lawrence I simply don't get down this way as often. I really should. The Garfield Park Arts Center, like the park itself, falls under Indy Parks. Originally built in 1922 as the "Community House," it was designed to look like a picnic shelter with enclosed walls, high ceilings, and fireplaces at each end. In 1930, a large swimming pool was located in the area that is now the parking lot. At that time, it was primarily used as a locker room and rec center area. In 1990, the pool was removed and replaced by the Aquatic Center that is now located at the Burrello Family Center. In 2006, the "Community House" was remodeled with a $2.7 million grant. It became the Garfield Park Arts Center. The 8,000 square foot facility now houses a multi-use performing arts space, exhibition hall, visual and production arts classrooms, a recording studio, a literary arts library, and a rehearsal room. The GPAC is big enough that it typically has multiple exhibits going. For example, right now there's a modern quilting show, a solo show by Jay Hamm, and a show by Christy Harp. GPAC hosts a variety of workshops and classes including current activities like voice and piano lessons, ceramics, and quite a few visual arts options including those specifically for children. The classes are way affordable - for example, there's a $10 rock painting class for kids. As someone who has a pet rock, I'm all for rock painting. GPAC also hosts summer camps and special events. The calendar is on their website. I'm particularly enchanted by a classic movie night. They've also assisted with some of the public art in Garfield Park. The art center tends to be open limited hours - for example, 1-5pm during the week. It does participate in First Fridays. I'm a big fan of Garfield Park and I'm a big fan of having access to the arts. I find this facility to be quite accessible and even more after their 2006 renovation. It's not perfect (no building of this age is), however, it's quite good. Prices are affordable and the center itself has a nice combination of nostalgia with contemporary comforts. Especially for those with kids who may enjoy the classes, GPAC is a definite winner.
