I have been to this location a couple of times since moving to the Indi area. I have found very reasonable prices on the spices, you get to chose the volumes you want, and you don't get politics forced on you. This weekend, as I was stocking up, I think it was the owner I was talking with, he was saying that they will be bringing in a selection of loose leaf teas soo. I do prefer to shop in person, build a relationship with the BM location, and since all the Teavanas closed, I really haven't had that opportunity for teas This is a business I will continue to support read more

I like Artisano's. I had never been in the shop until this past Thursday. I had only dealt with them at Yelp events and different shows. I am glad I was able to finally get into the store. I signed up for a class they were offering. I was a little bit early getting there so I was able to do some shopping before everyone got there. Because I was taking a class they gave me a 10% discount so that was an unexpected nice thing to happen. In addition for checking in on Yelp I had a coupon for a tuxedo blend sesame seed packet. They also allowed me to use the coupon at the same time. Awesome! One of the gals that worked there told me I could take the lid off of any of the spices to see what it smelled like. Also note if there's one of them that you want then there should already be some pre-packaged behind each container. I picked out black cardamom pods, ginger sugar, and Ethiopian berbere spice. Something new for me to try. The class was for French onion soup and cheese fondue. They had a full house. 16 people were there and we were sat in tables of four. The class cost around $50 and it appears from Eventbrite that they are holding a couple a month. Keep in mind this is not a commercial kitchen so we cooked on portable gas burners that were powered by a can of gas. I met some nice people and learned a couple of things. Although I will make my soup at home I will change something slightly in the recipe. The cheese fondue the chef made it, really did not come out as he intended due to the conditions we were cooking in and how they were served. It came out more stringy and not smooth like it should be. I may take another class in the future in the meantime we will see what delicious dishes I can come up with at home for my new seasonings. read more

My friend and I stumbled on this store randomly. Been to several of the shops in the same center but never noticed this one. The selection of oil, balsamic, and spices are amazing! And the staff are so friendly and helpful, you can try everything so you know you will love what you buy! If you've never done an oil/balsamic tasting you have to try it. It's not as weird as it sounds, the tastings are sips, and you'll be surprised by the various flavors. If you're looking for a random spice or something, good bet you might find it here. We felt welcome from the moment the hostess greeted us as we walked through the door. The food was amazing! And our waitress, Leisha equally so! She was truly delightful, attentive, and very well versed in the menu. We started with the bread basket which was incredibly delicious. It got even better from there. My husband had the Texas pork ribs, fries, and pimento mac and cheese. I had the filet - perfectly cooked, tender and juicy - mashed potatoes, and fried okra with spicy ranch for dipping. Everything was absolutely delicious! The portions were generous - my husband even had leftovers which is very unusual for him. We carried out a slice of French silk pie which was also amazing. Searched Indy area for a local shop that had the variety, quality, knowledge, and integrity we originally experienced. And, YES, Artisano's is it! Staff listened to our requests and responded with wonderful suggestions and lots of information. Flavors and quality were incredible. Prices are reasonable, especially for such high caliber balsamics and oils. Our purchases were carefully packaged. Staff friendly and professional. A really great spot which was easy to find. I like how the store is laid out as the staff makes it easy for them to help you and discuss what you make be looking for or like there. There was a lot of sampling which they even had some mixing of both oils and vinegars. I was personally thrilled to have found some coffee related spices and balsamic vinegars! This is the best place for oils and vinegars (and salts, spices, etc.) in central Indiana. There are some other chain stores that are similar, but you won't get the personalized attention from the owner like you get here. read more

BUT if you enjoy vinaigrette, or just a little olive oil drizzle or balsamic vinegar drizzle on your foods, like freshly picked tomatoes from your garden... then this is what you need. Something for every taste bud... Just let the staff know what you want it for, or your preferences and they will happily help you pick out the perfect product for your needs. Also they do carry a wide assortment of spices including hard to find salt varieties. There are cooking gadgets from knives to pans to gift bags for your purchases. It had been over a decade since I visited Artisano's, and was glad to see they were in a location that provided more space. They specialize in most anything that caters to the inner chef in you, or the beginner that wants to try a bit of everything. "Katie/Katy"(? not sure of correct spelling) was a gem! She is the epitome of someone that is perfectly suited with her position there. Very kind, knowledgeable and personable. I went in for past time favs and came out with new loves, as well. This shop is worth the drive, (from Speedway) with a "masked" smile on the end of it. Will go back again very soon. read more

I love Doug . I went here on Sunday for a curbside lobster roll it was served with Cole slaw . Everything was separated in its own containers for take home which. I love . The lobster is on a warm bun . It was fantastic . The Cole slaw was the perfection of sweet and tangy just like I like it . The curbside was easy To understand. Artisano's is the epicurean's paradise for all your gourmet, hard to find spices, specialty salts, baking condiments, curing needs (if you so fancy charcuterie/jerky making), flavored olive oils/vinegars, and local Indiana goodies that you just can't find in your plain-jane grocery store. I would never have found this place tucked into a tiny Nora complex, where most go next door to Starbucks, if it wasn't for a good friend. Unlimited sampling of fine olive oils and vinegar until your heart is content before purchasing bottles to take home to make a five star meal. The ladies there are very helpful, attentive, and patient with you. I like how it's full service if you want anything more than 2oz. No germy hands reaching in for samples or children digging in bulk bins! We left with a bottle of black truffle oil, espresso balsamic, seasoning packets of blackened Cajun, truffle salt, juniper berries, Saigon cinnamon sticks, smoked applewood salt, and Hiwa Kai Hawaiian Black Sea salt. Wonderful aromas and organized spices in jars. Love the packet labels with descriptions, so classy! Felt like a gypsy traveling in the Far East during the spice trade. Finally went into this place on 6/8/19 at 11AM. There was one individual browsing. The lady at the front counter was messing with something. Was not greeted or anything. Not that it is required, but it will become apparent why I am making a point of it. I tasted one oil. The White truffle and it was amazing. I picked up a bottle to start filling when i got a snide/rude "SIR, I HAVE TO DO THAT." OK, well had you even greeted me when i came in or bothered to even mention to me as I had never been there then I might not have tried to fill the bottle on my own. I guess it takes rocket science to fill the oil. I just waited then and the lady still kept messing with something at the front counter. It was nothing urgent, as i think it was just an oil canister, but apparently it was urgent enough to not deal with me or another customer. We (I had my behaving 3 year old with me) waited for a little longer and just left. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but the way she behaved when we were in the store and then when I started to fill the oil and her tone was outrageous. Especially, since it was obvious i did not know what i was doing since i had not been there and was given no instruction when i did enter the store. She was not helping other customers. She was messing with something and seemed put out to even be there. I over heard her mention that something was out to the other customer and he said "no it is right here," and she said, "oh i must be thinking of something else." Yeah, that's good service there. I will never come back in the store. I am positive they have great items in there but I'm sure i can shop elsewhere for similar product. read more

Nice little shop for different flavored salts, spices, oils and balsamic vinegar. I love the bacon flavored salt and they have chocolate balsamic that I use for cookies I make. After looking around was easily able to find more things I needed. To make things even better the staff there are very helpful. read more

This cute little shop has a wonderful selection of wines and vinegars. The taste of them is too notch too so you will not be disappointed, The staff was knowledgeable about each one and can assist you in pairing with whatever meat, dessert, wine etc. you want to be having. They were friendly as well so it was a welcoming environment. The store offers gift sets right now for the holidays which could be the perfect unexpected gift for the friend or family member you have who loves to cook! My only complaint is that the address on both Facebook and the website takes you to the wrong location so I was frustrated, but luckily stumbled upon the actual store by accident. read more

Found a bacon salt spice there that manages to give the flavor of bacon without the pig. Works for me. David has amazingly creative flavors of oils and vinegars too. Great place to find a gift fir that foodie in your life. He's at Carmel farmers market as well as the Nora location. His oils and spices make a huge difference when you're cooking. read more

I literally could spend a $1000.00 at this place. To say amazing is an understatement. I am a CHEF wanna be and many recipe call for spices not readily available. BUT this place has it all. So, I am the type of person who likes to make his own fancy vinaigrette. If you are like me you will really like Artisano's. There are a lot of different oil and vinegar options to choose from. I prefer my oil unflavored, and add in the flavor in the vinegar. The staff is very helpful and you can taste anything they have. I was so so happy to see that Artisano's had a storefront location near me! I tried their vinegar and olive oils through Citybox (if you haven't heard of this, look it up. It's also awesome). The staff is amazing and helpful. I walked in and was given an introduction to all they have. I got to try a few samples. So far I've tried their Persian lime olive oil, a pomegranate vinegar, their seasoning salt (like Lawry's but so much more flavorful), and a lime pepper blend. My favorite part is that you can get as little or as much as you want. They also carry small selection of fresh pasta and cheeses from the local Tulip Tree Creamery. If you are in the area and love to find ways to add new flavor to your food, this place is a must! read more

I recently was at Artisano's for a Yelp Meet the Maker event. The event itself was Awesome, but I want to focus more on the business itself. During the event we had the opportunity to try many different olive oils and balsamics. One of the best parts about Artisano's is that they will let you try pretty much anything you want in the store before you buy it. The owner said at the beginning, "You should never buy something, get home, and not like it." That sounds like a successful business motto to me. More on the owner, David, who had an incredible knowledge of the olive oils and balsamics. I hope to one day have that kind of expertise and passion about something. He was able to guide us effortlessly through many different tastings and you could tell that this was what made him happy. Having his won business and it being something he deeply cared about. His story about how Artisano's came to be was very interesting. I had not really thought about the different varieties of olive oils and balsamics that there could be out there. I tried too many to count, but I eventually got the garlic olive oil. Delicious stuff! There is also any abundance of spices and other items within the store. You can buy spices in half ounce increments. I love that! I hate having to buy more than what I need of a certain spice. The prices were reasonable for the quality of items that Artisano's offers. Chef Gordon is also someone that has to be mentioned. We were able to sample some of his delicious food and found out that they have cooking classes at least once a week at Artisano's. I am looking forward to trying to make it to one of those in the near future! David's wife was equally as passionate and helpful, as well as the other employee they had working. I had the best experience here last week. I was on the hunt for truffle oil and the saleswoman working gave me a whole truffle oil education, including where to find it, what to look for, area restaurants that feature it, and additional recipes to try. She was so helpful and really took the time to make sure I was getting the right product for my dish. She was incredibly friendly and provided wonderful service. I've passed by this place many of times but decided to stop in today. My first impression was that this place is super cleans and the lighting creates an inviting atmosphere. The person working greeted my wife and I immediately. She was very knowledgeable and walked us through how the store was laid out and gave us some pointers before starting to shop. She ended up staying with us the entire time we were in there to help with everything. We tried a couple samples of spices and vinaigrette's. She ended up showing me a combo of olive oil and vinaigrette that I immediately wanted. Overall, I really enjoyed the customer service and the massive amount of spices and oils they had. I got a tour of Artisano's during a Yelp event. I have been waiting for a place like this ever since I came back from living in Spain for 4 months. You can't seem to find crappy oils in Spain but it's quite easy here. It took me quite some time to find some that I could enjoy after my supply I brought back ran out. Not only does Artisano's have oil, they have many different choices, flavors, sources which is super awesome! How have I not reviewed this oil and vinegar paradise? I love this shop. You always feel really welcome and where else can you taste oil and vinegar in little cups? They have a fantastic selection of different flavored oils and vinegars to pair with them. You can also get your "regular" olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I love the basil olive oil and the fig balsamic vinegar. The raspberry balsamic vinegar is also an excellent choice. There are different sized bottles, so you can get a selection. Did you know you should use your olive oil within a year. Also, grocery store grade olive oil isn't usually pure olive oil. If you want to learn about oils and vinegars this is the place to go! I recently went to a Yelp Elite party here and the amount of olive oil knowledge that the owners had was impressive. I bought one of their basic EVOO options and it is great. My friend had the perfect description of the flavor, the EVOO tasted like smell of roma tomatoes in the garden. If you enjoy cooking, this is a great place to try new spices, oils, and vinegars. My boyfriend bought a sweeter, lemon vinegar and we used it like to shrub to make cocktails. It gave the cocktail a nice lemony flavor, without making it sweet. read more

Rema, was amazing! She showed us around and explained the whole set up to the store. There's lots of bulk spices, speciality sugars, balsamic vinegar, oils, local honey, and more. Just walking into this store felt like walking into a whole new world. It was a bit intimidating at first but like I said Rema was amazing and walked my fiance and I through the whole process. We bought Meteor Lemon Olive Oil, Honey Ginger Balsamic Vinegar, Vanilla Balsamic, sweet smoke paprika, whole cinnamon, and star anise. Amazing! Truly a wonderful experience.
