My pledge to commit to that philosophy is even more serious in the instance when I received my first exam from the optical professionals at Whitson Vision, with locations on East 86th Street in Indianapolis and at IU West Hospital in Avon (in addition to surgical facilities at 9002 N. Meridian Street in Indy). I recently completed my first appointment with Dr. Doore, an Optometrist who, along with several others, ran a series of tests to ensure that my Type 2 Diabetes was not causing any severe issues with my sight. Each and every individual displayed the finest measure of kindness, compassion and a commitment to concise and easily understandable, plain English doctor-patient communication. This was not my first experience with the Whitson Workforce! My domestic partner has experienced a decades- long case of chronic glaucoma and has benefitted from Dr. Whitson's direct surgical expertise, including two significant procedures that seem to have turned out...well, to be succinct, brilliant! Doctors and patients seem unanimous in their opinions that Dr. Whitson is the "go-to" opthalmologist when no one else can fix a difficult eye problem. I am more than pleased to report that, thanks to his work with my partner and now with me, William Whitson, MD continues to foster that same reputation with our household! I recommend his services enthusiastically.

Prior…read moreto this, I had been a patient of Dr. Keeling for most of my life, and my mother was also a patient there. Because of that long-standing relationship, I trusted him completely with my vision and my care. Before surgery, I had multiple consultations with Dr. Keeling. I was told that I was an excellent candidate for LASEK. After surgery, I carefully followed all post-operative instructions and attended many follow-up appointments. Throughout those appointments, I repeatedly reported that the vision in my right eye was not as clear as my left eye. Approximately one year later, Dr. Keeling discussed performing a LASEK enhancement. At that visit, additional testing was finally performed, including a visual field test and OCT scan. At that point, it was discovered that I had a retinal detachment in my right eye. I was told the detachment was severe and "macula off," meaning the central retina had detached. I required emergency retinal surgery the very next day, including placement of a scleral buckle. The retinal surgeon explained that the detachment was serious and had likely been present for a significant amount of time. Following the scleral buckle surgery, my vision permanently changed. I now experience double vision, distortion, loss of detail, and ongoing visual complications. I later learned that I had lattice degeneration associated with my high prescription (-6.00), which raised serious questions for me about whether I was an appropriate candidate for LASEK in the first place. This experience had a profound impact on my quality of life and mental health. I share this review so others will ask questions, seek second opinions, and carefully research all risks.

This is our third appointment here and still need to schedule two surgeries back to back. All three appointments have been 2-3 hours long. 5-10 minutes for a scan. 10-15 minutes to talk to doctor. All staff have been polite, well-trained, and professional (with one exception out of perhaps 20). Dr. Holbrook is the best - he explains things to you and listens. Dr. Chang did my cataract and Lasik surgery with Melanie the best nurse ever as well as the other nurses whose names I don't remember. She would even remember that I liked coffee and mentioned it to the receptionist to make sure she made me a cup. What doc does that? One that cares for her patients. I go about 1x a year nowadays for a check in, and have continued to get great care from all the Drs Busby, Feipel & Ray. Also they offer a free eye checkup for babies. Dr. Ray was great with my kiddo and had a fun little light up toy so she wasn't frightened during the exam. They are a great asset to the community.

The statement is: "All sales final on custom products." There is no definition on the receipt on what constitutes a custom product. Would not every pair of glasses with a doctor-approved prescription be a custom product, tailored to the needs of that client?

All of this was very important to me- I've had emergency eye surgery for a rare glaucoma and I don't take lightly who I see for my eyes! The office staff were incredibly friendly and a pleasure to see! The technology they've invested in is fantastic. The Dr. was excellent! She listened, gave great advise (saving me from future trauma even), and then went above and beyond to order me trial contact lenses- What I absolutely loved was not only that the service and care was wonderful, but I got those trials in exactly a week and all I needed to do was swing by and pick them up. I have been going here for years. The staff is made up of people who make me feel like part of the…read morefamily. While getting excellent eye care and answers, they don't mind lots of talking or even if something said does not come out just right, they are good with people just being people. This creates an environment that is hard to find these days, leaving you feeling amazing afterward and inspired to keep it going in your next environment. I don't know how their prices compare but I do know using my glasses and contacts reminds me of really great people that I am grateful to interact with. Also Dr. Avila, who advises me, has always given great advice and has been one of the best doctors I have ever worked with.
