Located on the first floor of the Saleforce Tower in the heart of Downtown Indy, Moody Eyes is an affordable destination for purchasing glasses with lots of great options to choose from. We've been coming here for many years now and much prefer it to Lens Crafters and the other pricey alternatives. Dr Moody himself is such a kind man with a great sense of humor and I dread the day he retires. I don't want to go anywhere else! Where do I begin? I have been a customer of Dr. Moody for nearly 10 years and have never had an issue with customer service, but there is a first for everything. After looking at some frames i was told that with my "you have amazing vision insurance", I would still be required to pay nearly $100 for just a pair of single prescrition glasses. I then asked for a cheaper alternative and was told that i wouldnt be saving much money by doing so. I was then reasured how good my insurance was and how good of a deal I was getting. After several minutes of being intimidated by who I assume is Mrs. Moody, I then calmly explained how I normally do not pay for frames at the place I had previously gone. She responded with a look and tone that I can only describe as "unnecessary" and asked "well why didn't you go there then'? She was not nice, she absolutely meant it to be rude. I then said that I would not be getting glasses today and that i just want to pay for my visit. "Ten Dollars" are the only words she says next and I quietly handed her my payment, asked for my prescription to which she says "well we aren't going to give you measurements", which i replied with silence. I then proceeded to leave while promising never to return. I have never been treated so poorly by someone at a doctors office. I want to believe that I took things out of context or the wrong way but body language and tone said everything. As if they are angry because I can not afford their overpriced Luxottica frames... I will take my "had to do a double take your insurance was so good" and go somewhere better. read more

Panicked, I emailed a couple optometrists in Indianapolis to see if I could pick up a spare pack of daily contacts and sent along my prescription. Dr. Moody responded right away and set out a few sets of contacts to tide me over -- at no charge. I was blown away by their kindness and help, and couldn't recommend them enough. read more

Went in to establish a new care after moving to the city. Was there trying to figure out insurance. Was treated very rudely because I wasn't understanding what she was saying about the insurance plan. And they weren't willing to help me figure it out after making one phone call. Could have been handled in a much more professional way. Disappointing because I read great reviews about the doctor himself but would not recommend for the way I was treated before getting to see him. Again it's not what was said but how it was said to me, it could have been said in a more professional and less rude way. read more

I moved to downtown Indianapolis about 4 years ago and was in search of an eye doctor. I just did a quick google search online and found this company, and I have been coming here ever since. The staff is super knowledgeable and they have a WONDERFUL selection of frames and crazy affordable discounts that were sometimes cheaper than my own vision insurance (I know right? Crazy). They have three great locations: downtown, uptown (castleton) and Southport. You can sometimes catch the owner at one of the locations and he's a fantastic eye doctor, and very pleasant. Anyways, I only had one "bad" experience ever and it was my most recent visit. The experience started because my glasses had broken in two and were unrepairable thanks to the price no longer being purchasable. Anyways I went had a great exam, picked some wonderful glasses with the help of Moody and his staff and placed my order. It had been over 2 weeks and my order still hadn't arrived. After some emails with Moody we realized it was mainly FedEx's fault, and it is all during COVID-19. Needless to stay I'm still frustrated and defeated because I have no glasses, my contacts are daily's and expensive and I didn't wanna run through my supply. So moody, being the gracious man that he was, gifted me some contacts to hold me over and was very apologetic. Time passes and still no glasses. He emails me on a Sunday stating that he felt so bad he went down to his lab and made me a pair of glasses!!! Over the weekend!! And it was free of charge and met me that weekend to pick those glasses up and it was after business hours. I WAS SO IMPRESSED with the customer service. I had no way to thank him other than this review. TLDR; if you're looking for a eye doctor/place to get glasses - go to Moody's! 5/5 stars! read more

I have written just one negative online review in my life and that distinguished honor belongs to Moody Eyes. In 2021 I found a GREAT optometrist (ZIONSVILLE EYECARE), which made me sadly recall the awful experience I had with Moody Eyes in 2020 and the runaround I got from one Connie Moody in the process. During a time when none of us could go anywhere because of Covid 19, my recently-purchased Moody-supplied eyeglasses broke. I wanted to order a quick replacement pair of quality glasses online from Warby Parker. I requested , via Moody's online contact form, my prescription details. I was quickly contacted by Connie Moody, who unilaterally decided that Moody Eyes would not provide me with my vision prescription despite the fact that the low quality frames I purchased from Moody's Salesforce Tower location had broken less than a year after purchase. Moody's product:: expensive but cheaply made frames. No, said Connie Moody. We don't provide that information because we want our patients to buy our frames, she said coldly. Instead, said Connie Moody, here's a lengthy warranty replacement process to fill your needs. Connie, I can't read without my glasses. Just my prescription please. No, said Connie. So I wrote a negative Yelp review. And now I notice, two years later, that Yelp review has been wiped from existence. Interesting. Dr. Moody and Connie, mistress of sales for Moody Eyes, your behavior is atrocious. Your service is a commodity and it's obvious that you are only interested in selling frames and lenses. Your customer service is below zero. Downtown Indy people, don't make the mistake I made and assume that a quiet little optometry shop in Salesforce tower cares enough about you to help you actually see when you need it most. Moody Eyes, it's not just that your service disappointed me...you seemed to take great personal pleasure in denying me the ability to see when I wanted to purchase an alternative pair of affordable eyeglasses. Their contact lens pricing is not competitive with other providers. They quote you with a price that includes a mail in rebate to get a prepaid Visa card. If you do not jump through their hoops exactly as scheduled (wait for contacts to ship, immediately fill out rebate information and spend rebate card in allotted time period months after submitting) then it is void. Save yourself the hassle and additional money and just order from a competitive provider. I wish I did read more

They are more interested in selling frames and lenses than providing quality eye care. I had an exam and purchased an expensive pair of glasses from Moody early in 2020. After recently damaging this pair by accident, I requested that Moody provide my prescription information so I could order a replacement pair from an online seller. Moody refused to provide me with my prescription information unless I visited the office in person. I explained that I could not come in person due to recent illness and general health concerns. Then they said that even if I came into the office they would not provide me with all the information I required because it's their policy not to provide prescription information for patients to use elsewhere...my information...about my eyes...which I already paid for. They did offer to replace my glasses under warranty, which I appreciated, but again, they would require that prescriptions be picked up in person. The rigid refusal to allow me to use my information to purchase an additional pair of glasses elsewhere is hard to believe. I might understand their position if i had not already purchased an expensive pair of glasses from Moody within the last year. But to flatly deny my request despite my circumstances (especially during a global pandemic) seems uncaring and arrogant. Connie Moody, the person I dealt with, seemed completely uninterested in my situation and 100% unconcerned about losing me as a patient over this issue, which Moody most certainly has. read more

How bored do you have to be to write a review for an optometrist? Well, if you're as blind as me, a quality eye doc is life changing. I easily scheduled my appointment online with Moody Eyes and had an easy check in process upon arrival (although the lady I was working with mistakenly told me my exam would be $62 because my insurance didn't cover it. Lies.) After that she took me back for the pre-exam tests. She was kind and expertly explained every part of the process. I was happy to learn they have a new way of doing the pressure (air shot directly into your eye) and it no longer required that method. Thank goodness! I then moved onto my appointment with THE Dr. Moody. Wonderful! Very informative and pretty much schooled me on my bad contact lens habits. But trust, I've left most of the very bad habits behind. He swiftly identified the power I needed and offered for me to try Dailies after intently listening to how often I wear my contacts. Though he suggested I try a half power weaker than I'm used to and I couldn't see as crisply as I was used to. They scheduled me for a follow up in a week to see how the trials worked for me. Moody eyes will make you moody! I have to go back 3 times. The doctor still couldn't get my prescription right. Lack of samples, not many choices for glasses. Doesn't have new technology to measure your eyes sight. My eyes sight is not even complicate but they don't have sample! Right now, I have to wait another week and go back there again. I have nothing bad to say, so here is what I liked about Moody Eyes: 1. My appointment was quick. There was no wait or downtime. Both the check-in process as well as the exam felt efficient, though not rushed. 2. Their hours are friendly to those of us working 9-5 jobs - I got a Saturday appointment. 3. I appreciate being able to book and confirm appointments online. 4. The offices were modern and spotless. 5. Location is great for downtown workers and dwellers - although there is a Meridian Street address, the door is off Maryland. 6. The receptionist and Dr Cardis were both warm, friendly and welcoming. 7. Dr Cardis's exam felt thorough yet she did not push all the extra, more expensive tests I've had to endure at other optometrists. She took the time to understand my contacts/glasses habits and concerns. 8. Prices are reasonable - my exam was significantly less than my old provider's prices. This location just opened but the company has been around since 2005. Upon entering I really didn't feel welcomed. I did not like them wanting to copy/scan your ID is very off putting if it had not been optional I would have left. The office has been recently renovated and is very nice looking. Dr. Cardis was very friendly, helpful, approachable. My eye exam was a breeze and my glasses are calibrated perfectly. I had questions for her, and I felt totally comfortable asking them and she gave clear, helpful answers. The saleswoman was perfect - fun, knowledgable, knew when to help and knew when to give me space. I felt informed and not rushed. I have horrible eyes, so my glasses are usually very expensive (because of the necessarily pricy lenses). I walked out with a stylish pair (great selection) for under $150 (price of exam included). For a fuzzy-eyed guy like me, that's an outstanding rate. I purchased the frame Monday evening. I had them Friday afternoon, same week. A cheap exam + cheap online glasses is the same rate for me, but now I have a very friendly, knowledgeable staff to back up this higher-quality pair all in once place. I had a wonderful experience at Moody Eyes. I used to go to another well-known downtown eye care provider but after repeated visits where I would have long waits and a higher bill than I was expected, I decided to try Moody Eyes. I'm so glad that I did and it's even right around the corner from my office. I was greeted promptly and had no wait before my appointment. The appointment itself was quick yet thorough. Dr. Cardis explained a lot about the various eye tests and what the tests were telling her about my eye health. I didn't realize I would need my eyes dilated but I needed to get back to work, so they let me come back right at the end of the day just to get my eyes dilated and checked out. My bill for the exam was exactly what I expected to pay, given the dictates by my insurance company. I also browsed the frames and picked out a nice pair. The prices might be a bit higher than what you would pay at discount retailers but they will direct you to the lower priced frames. They also did a great job cutting the lenses to fit the frames (something I've had a problem elsewhere) and my glasses were ready the next day -- I have a very strong prescription and I have never ever been able to get my glasses the next day, no matter where I buy them! I will definitely be back to Moody Eyes for my next exam. read more

never again! frames fit fine but when I get them, need a little bit of adjustment.. slides right off my face, cant do anything without them sliding off my face. I'm very frustrated want a refund. I spoke to Ms Moody herself, and repeats to ME for having 2 pairs of glasses and paying one time is wrong, when she should point that out to her staff. The staff is very nice, they just don't know what they're doing when it comes to adjusting frames.. or maybe the frames are just poorly made? Either way I've never had issues with glasses a day in my life until Moody. So yes, the company lives up to their name. I really want to give back frames and have a complete refund because this is not cool at all, no one deserves this type of service rendered and I hope everyone reads this. read more

My experience was horrible. I was blatantly lied to twice by staff, they had no brochures or pamphlets that gave me any information as to what types and brands of contact lenses they had to offer. Worst of all is the fact that they do not factor ethics into their pricing at all. To have overhead or simply not be able to stay competitive with pricing is one thing, but to charge $26 for a box of lenses that I can buy @ Wal Mart for $13 is ridiculous, as well as a charge of $9.50 to ship a small box of contacts is absurd. I even brought up the fact that their price was double their competitors and I was told that they were within a couple dollars of any competitors price. Did my homework, found it to be untrue. I'll never go back on the grounds I was lied to alone, the service and ethical issues were just sour icing on a bitter cake. read more

I didn't feel like any products were pushed my way that I didn't need, and the staff helped answer all of my questions about insurance, lenses and frames. The location is great. Absolutely amazing experience. I have been a patient of Moody's for a few years now, but I decided I needed to get another pair of glasses - I went to Moody because they always have really interesting frames. Not just the boring run of the mill options. Within moments I had honed in on a pair of glitter swoops, sat down at the eye bar, they filled out the forms and I had paid - all in within the span of about 15 minutes. I was pumped! My first appointment was over a month ago and I finally have my glasses although I am not sure yet if they are incorrectly done (again) or if I just need to give my eyes more time to adjust. I had an exam done by someone -she never introduced herself- who seemed to have no idea what she was doing. She didn't know how to use the equipment and had to keep starting over causing my appointment to run much longer than the hour I was quoted. Ten days after my initial appointment I called to check on my glasses having received no update. I was put on hold for quite a while and then was told that my glasses were done but wouldn't be delivered to the office until the next day after 12:00. I can't say for sure that I was lied to but it was pretty obvious someone would staying late at the lab to get my forgotten order done that night. I picked up my glasses and immediately knew something wasn't right. I was assured that it would just take time for my eyes to adjust even though I had been wearing progressives for many years. Ten days later I returned because I still couldn't use my reading level. Turns out that I had no reading level on my new lenses due to a "lab error"! Once again I left my glasses and even though I was assured they would be a "rush order" had to call back a week later to get a status and was told once again that they would be ready the next day. I chose Moody Eye because I like to support local small businesses and the convenient downtown location was close but there was nothing convenient about this evolution. I bought a Living Social deal for an eye exam and credit toward a glasses purchase at Moody Eyes. And I had a great experience. I got an appointment the same day I called, and she even called me back after they missed my earlier call. Dr. Cardis was very nice and knowledgeable and Maria was great with helping me narrow down frames that look good on my face. With my glasses credit the final price was very reasonable. And on top of all that my glasses were ready in about 3 hours (they told me it would be the next day, and I would have been fine with that). I wear daily wear contacts. I am in Indianapolis on vacation and realized that I completely forgot to pack my contacts! Moody Eye is right down the street from my hotel so I called to see if they could help me. They were so amazingly friendly and helpful. It took a couple calls to get my regular dr to send them my prescription so I had to contact Jennifer at Moody a couple times to work everything out and she was so nice! Once she finally got the prescription from my dr she found something compatible that they stocked and had it waiting for me when I came by. I would definitely use them if I lived in Indianapolis!
