I had an extremely disappointing experience with Industrial Tattoo. I went into the shop around 5:30pm on a Thursday evening for a double second lobe piercing. One of the employees had me fill out a release form on the iPad, and then instructed me to go and select my jewelry. A second customer came into the shop, and she began helping her. A new employee came over to help me and we talked a little bit about the size of the stud I wanted for the piercings. After I selected my jewelry, Josh pierced my ears and I went to pay for the piercing. The cashier told me the total would be over $100, which was confusing because I had read online that the piercing cost would be $35. I asked her why the price was so high, and she told me that it was because of the jewelry I selected. Prior to this moment, of the employees had mentioned anything about pricing to me, for the piercing or the jewelry, so I had assumed the total cost would be $35 as stated on the website. When I told her that, she told me that it was my responsibility as a consumer to ask whether the jewelry would cost extra. She also told me that the website states that jewelry is not included in the piercing fee. However, I missed this information because it's at the bottom of the page, and I checked the prices before coming to the store on my phone, and didn't scroll past the top of the page with the piercing fees. Regardless, though, the employees should have mentioned the pricing to me, especially because the jewelry was going to be even more expensive than the cost of the piercing service. At this point, at least 4 employees were gathered around me as I explained that I had not walked into the store prepared to spend this amount of money on the piercing, and, had I been informed that it would cost this much, I wouldn't have gotten the service. The employee then offered me a discount, bringing the total down to $78. However, I explained that this was still more than double the amount I was prepared to spend. She told me that I couldn't walk out of the store with the jewelry in my ears, and we agreed to have Josh remove it- as this seemed to be the only way I could avoid paying the full amount. However, I was still asked to pay $35 for the piercing fee, despite the fact that the piercings were unusable and closing up. I walked out with two bloody holes in my ears. The fact that the employees made a mistake in not informing me of the pricing was in no way my fault, and yet I still had to pay for the service and waste my time. I now have two scabs forming on my lobes. I contacted the manager to request a refund to remedy my bad experience, and she responded with an extremely condescending email which is attached below. read more

okay so i usually don't give reviews but i felt like i had to because i had such a great experience. when i initially got my nose pierced at a different shop i was given poor advice and incorrect jewelry that resulted in the dreaded irritation bump. i tried to get my jewelry changed but my previous piercer refused and said it would "cause more complications" and i knew this was untrue and i had to find a new piercer. i went on the APP website to find a nearby piercing place and industrial tattoo showed up. i booked a jewelry change appt with Anwyn and they were so sweet! told me what went wrong, changed my jewelry from a super snug hoop to a flat back labret (super gentle btw!), and let me know when to come in to get my jewelry downsized. after a week my irritation bump has shrunk so much and it's barely noticeable. can't wait to come in for my downsizing appt and for future piercings! read more

This post is for Lysa and the industrial tattoo staff. We were welcomed by two lovely ladies when my sisters, bf and I walked in. We hadn't planned to get a piercing yet but had a few questions to ask about their piercing prices as well as jewelry. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and nice even though we didn't have anything done. My sisters and I left. We came back a few hours later with more questions and decided to all get our helix piercings. Lysa pierced my sisters and I. She was really nice and made us feel comfortable. I previously had my helix pierced before but had to let it close because it was pierced badly at another shop. My sisters hadn't had any piercings since they were 10 (they are 19 & 20). She dealt with our sisterly drama and made us feel really comfortable. The piercings did not hurt (I got a double helix). That was an indicator for me that she knew what she was doing. She was great! It was definitely worth coming from San Jose to their shop and get piercings. I'll definitely come back in the future. I recently turned 30 and have been reminiscing about my youth when I used to have a nose stud. I stupidly took it out before it healed and it closed up. Ten years later, I decided to give it another go. Let me tell you, either the place I went to in college was shit or piercing has changed for the better in the past 10 years. I was amazed at the sterilizing machines they used, and how the studs aren't those weird hooked/fish tail studs, they just disconnect to come out, so no weird twisting and turning to get it out. And they sell a saline spray for cleaning so you don't have to do an annoying salt nose bath everyday. Ain't nobody got time for that (but they still provide you with salt should you be so inclined to clean that way or if you inflict trauma unintentionally on your piercing to give it a little extra TLC). Anyway, this place is great. Clean, professional, experienced, and welcoming. Didn't feel lame for just wanting a tiny baby stud instead of like a septum piercing. Everyone was very helpful and provided me with the information I needed to decide on jewelry and placement of the ring. They sterilize everything prior to piercing. Overall a quick (but not rushed) and relatively painless experience. After care instructions were top notch. I will definitely come back here when it's time to change my piercing, and highly recommend Industrial for piercings, and specifically Danae pierced me and she was wonderful! I was looking to repierce one ear and pierce the other for the first time and chose this place based off reviews and location. They let me come in the shop a few days before and check out the earrings, get advice on what would be safest and talk pricing. The person helping me was super helpful, nice and respectful. Zero ego or attitude and very down to earth. They even encouraged me to get a safer stud to start out with. I was stubborn and got earrings instead lol . Even then, the piercer, Marina, I believe, did an amazing job! I chose a slightly thicker gauge, went with the earrings and have had no issues. They gave me clear instructions for aftercare and sold me a simple soap and saline spray that was really cheap. Overall leaving this review because they do amazing work, great customer service, have cheap/affordable prices and 3 months later my ears have zero problems, no keloids, and are healing perfectly. I love this place! I've been here twice, the first time to get my 2nd pair of lobe piercings from Marina, and today I went to get my helix piercing. Lysa helped me and she was so sweet and so friendly. The people are very patient and so professional, and even though I'm quite a newbie to piercings I didn't feel intimidated at all. On my way to the shop today I was catcalled by a random man and he yelled something racist at me, so I was visibly upset when I was there. I wanted to explain to Lysa that I was not moody because of my being there, and told her what happened beforehand. She and everyone else at the store was really sympathetic and sweet. Lysa gave me the saline spray for free because she felt bad for me. As simple as it sounds, that act of kindness and the lollipop really made me feel better. I would 100% recommend industrial to all my friends, my roommate and I are both big fans of this place. What is the difference between a piercing at Claire's and a piercing at Industrial Tattoo? 1. Claire's is cheaper (obviously) 2. You know who the professionals are. I've been thinking about getting a helix piercing for nearly a year or two. And yesterday, I finally said eff it and went into the shop with my friend. Should've done it earlier, the helix piercing was easy peasy. Lysa pierced my ears. She's calm, collected, cool, explained everything in a clear and precise manner to me, told me to take a deep breath, and in about 10 seconds tops, it was all done. The helix piercing was $20, the stud I chose was $32. Since helix piercings are probably more complicated then ear lobes, I recommend choosing this place for non-earlobe piercings, and probably somewhere a tad cheaper for regular earlobes. Given the professionalism of this place, there's a high chance I'll come here to get my tattoo as well. read more

Lovely people, incredible experience. You can tell everyone here loves their job and takes pride in where they work. Ally did a great job helping me pick jewelry and placements--I came in wanting two ear piercings but wasn't sure where. We talked through options and she had great advice. The jewelry was so pretty and more affordable than I was expecting. I ended up getting a third lobe piercing on one ear and a conch piercing on the other, as well as upgrading my existing studs. Everyone at the shop is warm and friendly but very professional; no one touches you without asking permission first. We were told it was a 45 minute wait so we went to get some food down the street. 45 minutes later they were ready for me! Lysa, who pierced me, was so comforting and gentle I barely felt either needle, and one went through pretty thick cartilage! Though some of the pieces can get a pricey (not all just certain ones), the design and attention to detail is worth every penny. The customer service is amazing. They walked me through the whole process multiple times just so I understood what was going on. The people who work here are very nice! When I first walked in for just a price check, the girl who helped me was very understanding and patient, answering all my questions without being condescending about the fact that I'm a complete beginner in piercings. A couple days later, I was helped by two other friendly workers. The man advised me to get a larger bead instead of the initial tiny bead I chose because it ran the risk of ripping through my lobe if it got snagged, which I really appreciated. I'm not even afraid to pull on a shirt after this fresh piercing because of the complete absence of pain. I have 10 piercings total and the majority of which were done at other shops around the Bay Area. Another great experience today getting my jewelry changed. I decided to go to Industrial instead of Zebra because Zebra told me that a jewelry change was "five or ten dollars", while Industrial said "five dollars" which was a more conclusive answer, and I like the atmosphere better there anyway, so it was awesome! I brought a cartilage hoop that I bought at Icing, and it turned out that the hoop was a larger gauge than the current starter piercing I had in my ear (also done at Icing). I was mad that Icing let me buy jewelry that was the wrong size!! Andrea said I could either go with the larger gauge and do a stretch, or buy a new piece that was the right size. I decided to buy a cheap piece from them that was the right size. I picked it out and just like that she put it in for me and gave me some pointers on how I could insert and remove hoops myself in the future with practice. The place was pretty busy and had a lot going on with little girls in getting lobe piercings and people getting birthday piercings and browsing for jewelry and things, so I was very pleased that they were able to tend to my jewelry change in a timely manner, even when I needed to take a moment to make a decision about buying a new jewelry piece or doing a stretch. I'm a student in Berkeley and I have been debating whether or not I was truly wanting a new piercing. The debate within myself went on for well over a year but as of recent it was constantly on my mind. I had researched several different places and had gone to Zebra's for two piercings but for some reason I have been trying to avoid going back there. I stumbled upon Industrial Tattoo and what a gem I found! I walked in and immediately knew these people knew what they were doing and were well known for it. Everyone was knowledgable about their products and very friendly. The wait is a little on the longer side but that's only because of how many people were wanting their service. Josh was my piercing artist. He walked me through the process step by step and even asked questions about whether or not I already had piercings. He made sure to show me that everything was thoroughly sterilized and changed his gloves constantly. He didn't trick me about when he was going to pierce me. Told me to take a deep breath so I knew when it was coming. Minimal to no pain, only a pinch at the beginning, even the swap of bar to jewelry was not even noticeable. I had gotten a cartilage, conch, and replaced a traigus that has been removed for 18 months. Was given instructions to return in a month to exchange my conch. The entire cost of jewelry and procedures was less than the procedures ALONE (excluding jewelry) at Zebras!!! Extremely satisfied! Great people. Great place. It had gotten caught on a zipper, from inside my nose and pulled the stone into the hole and then got stuck.I couldn't push it through in either direction! I went here to get my ears re-pierced because I thought one of my very old ear piercings had closed up, and the very nice and professional Anwyn found it had not! So now I have cute studs that I'll wear for a while to make sure everything stays open. The people here were all really, really nice and I felt welcome and well attended to. One word of caution: Unless you aren't at all price-conscious, be sure you know what all the charges add up to before agreeing to a service. I hadn't expected an extra charge for the type of backing that was provided with the earrings, so I spent more than I expected to even without piercing charges. Very professional services, however when booking online they should clarify there is still a wait even after checking in for your reserved time. I had an appointment and waited nearly 40mins to an hour to be assisted and this was after already choosing jewelry for my piercing. My first experience with Industrial was nearly four years ago when I got my nose pierced and I still have that piercing today. Over the years, I've returned to get new jewelry switched out and bring people with me to get their piercings done. I have always had an amazing experience when visiting because everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. They give great suggestions and advice. I trust their judgement! On a recent visit, I got a matching nostril piercing by Josh. He was great! He took his time, nearly five minutes trying to find the perfect spot to ensure my piercings matched. I really appreciate his patience and knowledge. Industrial really stands out from any other store because the workers seriously know what they're doing! They have a huge collection of jewelry from gold, rose gold to silver. I prefer gold jewelry which ends up being a bit more pricey but well worth it. I've had gold jewelry from them in my nose for years at one point and it never tarnished. As far as wait times/appointments, I've always done walk ins. Weekdays tend to be less busy but you can expect to wait a bit depending on what you're looking to get down. Make an effort to tend to the after care of your piercings. They do a good job to inform you as much as possible prior and provide cleaning products. They now offer a mist wash which is so much better than the salt water mixture. You can feel great knowing that you're entering a space that is welcoming, sanitary and trustworthy.
