We interviewed Mike pretty early in our process and pretty much knew we wanted him right off the bat. However, we chose to do our due diligence and interviewed a few more places. We had a few bids come in slightly under him but the "feeling" you get when you know something is "just the right choice", brought us back to Mike and Indian Summer pools. I can't say enough about this man and his company. He may come off a little gruff to some people but I love that about the guy because what he says is coming from his heart and he will not BS or sugar coat things for you. You know exactly what you are getting with Mike. After the first few meetings with him you will understand that he says what he will do, and does what he says. Being the contractor he didn't just win our bid and subcontract out. He was there at every stage of the project and then some. He would tell you he and his crew would be at the house and "X" time and he was ringing the doorbell 5 minutes early with crew there ready to go.....every time!!!!!! I never had to wait on or for anyone during this process. They came in and demo'd my pool, shot it, and finished it in 3-4 different stages and were never once late. We are extremely happy with the work completed by Indian Summer Pools and would recommend them to others without reservation. Our pool and backyard was build alomst 10 years ago and has help up incredibly well. Our concrete pours have ZERO cracks and actually drain well when it rains. Some of the reasons we are so happy include: Polite and conscientious crew - we never felt uncomfortable or worried about anyone who worked on our job. Thorough process - Bid was higher than others, but included all necessary pieces and parts and did not get increased materially over the length of the job. Small touches - The pebble tech drain covers, the stone skimmer cover, the finish of the concrete, the use of plenty of drains. Great after job service - Mike is always in contact and willing to fix or correct any little thing (within reason). He is very hard on himself, so you don't have to be. I can't say enough positive things about Mike, of Indian Summer Pools. I called Mike after Premier Pools ignored my multiple bid request. In retrospect, I am glad Premier didn't get that bid back to me. Mike did a AMAZING job with our pool, hot tub, deck, and outdoor kitchen. It is absolutely beautiful how he made our pool blend in with our lanscapes unique attributes. He even made hand scuplted "concrete trees" seem to grow up from the pool, with cascading water falling from them. The slide is SUPER slick, and FAST!!! ....yes, just as you said it would be! Mike and the crew that works with him were very punctual, professional, and knowledgeable. Mike and his team installed a Pentair water heater at our home, and also installed a salt water system. I like that Mike is honest, and gives honest advice even if they don't create more work for him, by that I mean that I asked about doing certain things, and rather than say "oh yeah, we can add that on to the job as well, he said "I don't recommend you do that". The best part of the whole job was that there wasn't any "surprises" along the way. I have noticed that a lot of contractors have "situations" that come up during the jobs that result in more money. Mike Durfee and the entire crew at Indian Summer Pools have been such a pleasure to work with. We had our 20ish year old pool completely redone. We could not be more happy with the result. If you're on the fence about plaster or pebble sheen...our blue surf pebble sheen is amazing. It along with the new tile has changed our old worn pool to a diamond! I recently had Mike replace my skimmer and a section of tile. Full disclosure: Mike will probably charge a bit more than the competition. I was convinced though that he would deliver a top notch product so I decided to go with him. Ultimately, the old adage "you get what you pay for" applied here in a good way! Mike's plumbing crew did a fantastic job cutting out the old skimmer and putting in the new one. He even had them pressure test the suction line leading away from the skimmer since I was concerned that it may be leaking. This involved having to cut a pipe near the pool equipment and taking out an existing valve. He did this all for free and you'd never even notice that the pipe was cut and the old valve taken out. I had a lot of questions about the process and Mike answered everything with very in-depth answers. His knowledge and experience in the industry is quickly evident. At one point, I even mentioned to him that I wished the pool equipment pipes were all one uniform color. He then later that day spray painted the equipment pipes. They really look good now and that was a nice touch. He even sanded and retouched up my auto-fill pipe as well. Again, at no extra charge. The tiling was replaced and it all looks great now. Overall, I couldn't have asked for more. I am just really pleased I was able to find someone in the Temecula area that I know I can rely on for any future pool needs..although hopefully there won't be any! read more

Mike built our pool in the summer of 2004. By biggest concern was having my yard torn up for a long period of time like so many people I've talked to while a builder borrows from one job to pay off another. Mike was great about coming up with a great design for our yard and incorporating a waterfall and spa into a hillside along with little details that really make our pool special. Ours was built in 6 weeks which was amazing considering it took the builder of our grill, which is nothing that special, longer! We've had very few issues in the 11 years we've had the pool and Mike is always there to answer questions or help with little things when they do come up. He's helped with the restoration of several of our friends pools and they were all very happy with the results. I have never left a review of any contractor that I have used, basically because there has never been anything positive to say. This was a completely different experience. Mike made us realize that there are still good trustworthy contractors out there that stand behind their word, go above and beyond what is expected, and get the job done right...the first time. Our pool was 20 years old and long over due for a remodel. Mike and his team started on a Tuesday and we had water in the pool the following Thursday, despite a two day weather delay. Mike's guys even fixed some plumbing issues that were unrelated to the pool that occured while I was at work on two different occassions. Not enough good things to say about them. All of his guys were friendly and respectful, cleaned up after themselves daily, and most of all, do excellent work. I called 6 different contractors, and had three of them come out for estimates. Thirteen years ago I started the process of building a pool in my backyard. I contacted 4 pool companies that do business in Temecula, CA. There was one individual that just stood out; Mike Durfee. He was just starting his own pool building business in Temecula and I remember he went out of his way on so many occasions to make sure I was getting a quality product and a fair price. I decided to go with Mike Durfee (now of Indian Summer Pools) based on his excellent customer service and unique way of explaining the entire pool process; from building and designing a pool to cleaning and servicing the pool after it was built. After my pool was finished, Mike came to my house on numerous occasions to make sure everything was to my satisfaction, to help me with servicing my own pool and to just make himself available. I was completely satisfied. About 6-7 years later I was having a very minor equipment problem (lid to the waste basket on pump), Mike came to my house, replaced the part without charging me for his time. He also brought me an upgraded chemical test kit just to make sure I still had the proper equipment to manage my own pool service. I would call that "above and beyond" service. Just last week I was having another minor problem with a check valve, remember my pool is now about 13 years old and these are the only problems I've had to this point. I contacted 3 people I know that do minor pool service jobs, Mike Durfee of Indian Summer Pools was one of those 3. Mike called me back within the day (none of the other 2 ever called me back) and based on my description of the problem he guided me to the proper course of repair, and gave me several other options if the first didn't fix my problem. He also told me he would come to my house if I needed him to. The problem was fixed fairly quickly based on his recommendation and my pool is running perfectly once again!! I just can't think Mike enough for everything he has done for me and my family regarding our backyard swimming pool. It looks as beautiful today as the day he built it and the whole family is elated with our pool to this day! The quality of the pool, the ease of having Mike in charge as the contractor and listening to my input while we designed the pool together has made this pool experience absolutely amazing and a positive experience. Indian Summer Pools - This is my (MJ J.) pool, 13 years old!! - Pool & Hot Tub Service Near Me - Temecula, California

We had a "Holiday Inn" blue pool that needed to be remodeled. We called 1/2 dozen pool companies. We contacted Mike about 3/4 through the list. Instead of showing pictures Mike took us to a bunch of former pools, they were very well constructed and the customers were delighted. We are extremely fussy folks when we remodel or build, maybe the worst. Mike worked with us and we were able to do a pool using stone tiles (not ceramic) on the waterline and a beautiful stack stone on the spa wall, and stone coping. We added a 3 hp faux stone waterfall with some real slab stones on the spillway. We also added a few more stones on the periphery. The faux stones look classy, we were absolutely paranoid of a the Flintstone dinosaur turd look--we were are 210% happy with the waterfall and surroundings. Mike does not cut corners, and applies and engineered product, Aquron (from Australia), that sealed the existing pool shell from water. He also applies Aquron products on the grout and seals the stone with these products. He does not advertise or tell you about this, and in fact his pool work would look every bit as good without it, but he does it because he wants a pool product that he is proud of, and a product that will last. This extra waterproofing and sealing in my opinion comes out of his back pocket, he was competitive price-wise and most other companies do not apply these coatings to protect you years down the road. Mike's subcontractors are excellent, and very talented, and they clean up every day. Mike supervises the entire project and is a stickler for detail. My wife is our quality inspector and she would not consider any other pool company no matter the price. When we do a house project she knows every nook and cranny and with our pool project she had no issues with anything--nothing. Very few contractors (we have built/remodeled our house(s)) have made it into the "wife hall of fame" and Mike is one of them. Added Note: Mike warned us of the potential for added cost if he found major structural issues as they stripped off the old plaster. No one else did this. after researching this a bit there are many issues if the original pool was built in a deficient manner or has degraded. Mike wanted to fully inform us of any potential up-charges or risk before we entered into a contract. This may scare people but realize that Mike is being 100% honest upfront. BTW--no issues so no cost adder. Mike does not come after you for extras and in fact he tossed some things in as we went. Second note: Mike sets up a payment schedule based on work completed. At one point i asked if we could just pay him for the next step to save time etc. At this stage i had no fear of him not performing. MIKE ACTUALLY REFUSED TO ACCEPT PAYMENT AHEAD OF HIS SCHEDULE!!!!!!!!!!! I am still flabbergasted by this, i can guarantee you that no other pool contractor or contractor would actually turn down a check in advance. Last note: I welcome anyone to see our pool, just arrange with Mike. I never met Mike before the pool project and he is not a social friend or family acquaintance. We will show you before and after pictures and are happy to run the waterfall or anything needed. I don't recommend people often and Mike is really one of the best. read more
