Food was amazing. Everything was flavorful and delicious. I never really eat Indian food but this was an amazing first time try. My friends and I will definitely be back to eat. Our servers were also very kind and was good with getting our empty plates so our table had space. The restaurant was also very cute and clean. Overall great experience!!

Food was OK, the butter chicken had a weird marinara sauce flavor to it that threw us off. The bindi was great, and chicken tikka had a weird smell on the chicken. Service was 10/10! Really appreciated our waiter and the managers hospitality and help. Ambiance: They were playing Arabic music in an Indian restaurant. My biggest pet peeve is when restaurants of a specific culture play other culture's music. Music is key to building ambiance and when the music is not a match to the vibe, it's a no go. We asked the water to change it to Indian music and they so kindly did but hope they learned from that haha. Lastly I must mention I had a rough night on the toilet. Would not come again.

Great variety of food at their lunch buffet. I was surprised to see that it also came with tandoori chicken on a sizzling pan a lot of naan. My server, Roza was very friendly and refilled my water every time it was about to run out without me even needing to ask. The samosas were crispy and had nice filling on the inside. I also love the music they play in there, it's mostly in Hindi which I cannot understand, but is cool.

The restaurant was very cute inside and can seat many people. We didn't have to wait for a table for 2 on a Saturday lunch. When you get seated, they ask if naan and chicken tandoori is good and will bring that out for you while you grab your food at the buffet bar. They have the typical food you would expect and I enjoyed everything. I think the chicken was a little dry but that may be difficult to keep moist when it's buffet style. I think there was a broad range of foods for any flavor palette.

We were wanting to have lunch at Indian restaurant and preferably buffet place. Found this absolute gem by accident!! The ambience is amazing and very pleasing. The food quality is excellent!! There were limited menu items for veg and non veg dishes. However every one of the item was delicious!! I really loved when they gave the chicken tandoori on a sizzler plate! It was the highlight. Also another thing that I noticed was warm towels were given to us after our lunch! That really was nice to clean hands on the table. Please do visit this place if you are craving Indian food for lunch or dinner :)

A Cozy Post-Valentine's Indian Buffet Experience My husband and I visited 'India House Restaurant Chicago' on a pleasant, snowy weekend for a post-Valentine's celebration. Located in downtown Chicago, this restaurant offered a warm and inviting atmosphere. Food: We opted for the weekend buffet, which is available every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM. As a vegetarian, I was pleasantly surprised by the wide range of vegetarian options. Starters: The Pani Puri was a highlight--crispy shells filled with tangy and spicy water, perfectly balanced. The samosas were fresh, crispy. *Main Dishes* There were four vegetarian gravies, including Palak paneer, Dal Makani, Gobi and Machurian balls. While the gravies were decent, they could have been more spicy and tasty. *Rice & Breads* The biriyani was fragrant, and they also had plain naan. *Desserts* The rice kheer was rich and creamy, and the mango kulfi was a refreshing end to the meal. The mandarin oranges added a fresh, fruity touch. Overall, the food was mildly spiced, which might appeal to those who prefer less spice, but I would have liked an option for spicier dishes. Compared to other Indian buffets in the area, the vegetarian variety here is above average, though the flavors could be more robust. Service & Ambience: The service was excellent--our plates were cleared promptly, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The ambiance was cozy and romantic, with soft lighting and red roses on each table, a nice touch for Valentine's Day. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, with traditional Indian decor that added to the experience. Pricing: The buffet cost $50 for two which we found reasonable for downtown Chicago. This is a fair price for the variety and quality offered. Parking: Paid street parking was available nearby, which was convenient. However, parking in downtown Chicago can be challenging, so I'd recommend using a parking app like Spot Hero to reserve a spot in advance. Alternatively, the restaurant is easily accessible via public transit, being just a short walk from the Red line Grand station. Overall: If you're looking for a vegetarian-friendly Indian buffet in downtown Chicago, India House Restaurant Chicago is a decent choice for those who prefer mildly spiced food or are new to Indian cuisine. For a more adventurous spice level, you might want to request customizations from the kitchen. I'd rate this experience 3.5/5 stars.

I've never had Indian food, so this review might need to be taken with a grain of salt HOWEVER a hob-nob kinda fella who lives in my building was raving about India House having the absolute best lunch buffet in Chicagoland. So once again, curious tastebuds sent me out to explore for myself. Note to self: I wish I arrived earlier because lunch buffet ends at 2:30p and it was almost 2pm (1:48p to be exact) when I strolled in the door. A friendly host greeted me, pointed me to the hot plates and adjacent buffet tables. I immediately scooped up a bowl of fresh white basmati rice. There were so many curry type options (vegetarian, lamb, chicken) prepared to self-serve. Honestly as a first timer, it was overwhelming but in a good way! My waiter Dhiraj asked if I had any questions and did I want tandoori chicken and fresh naan to be sent to the table separately. I said yes to both and pleasantly surprised it was included in lunch buffet price ($17.95 weekdays, $19.95 weekends with an expanded menu). The tandoori chicken arrived on a sizzling hot iron skillet with onions, garlic and chili spice soaked in yogurt. So good! I devoured it. The naan arrived in a bread- basket hot and nicely seasoned with garlic and butter. I am not even feeling guilty about eating the whole basket on my own and I could have easily asked for more to mop up all the curry sauce from my other dish. Back at the buffet, I was a bit fearful my stomach might hate me later so I played it safe and scooped up some chicken tikka masala which is on the sweeter side for curry dishes and a side of vegetables to enjoy with the jasmine rice. Yes I totally could have tried one of everything on the buffet line up but I would definitely need to wear my stretchy pants for that lol!! (Next time) Table service was really great, water glass stayed filled, super friendly and very willing to answer my many questions about the food preparation since I have to watch for food allergies. The vibe is cozy, upscale with pretty crystal chandeliers, black linen napkins and dim lighting. Yelp tip: they don't allow any food to be wrapped to go home with you on the lunch buffet, but they don't seem to mind if you stick around a while to get your money's worth. They also pull everything from the buffet promptly at 2:30p (3pm on weekends) so plan accordingly! The regular menu is a lot more expansive but at a much higher price point a la carte. So I truly feel the lunch buffet is a great value, especially if you want to sample a variety of inspired main dishes and Indian desserts. I'm already looking forward to go back so I can get more of that yummy tandoori and garlic naan goodness and expand my palate. I can see Indian food will be a nice "belly warming option" as Chicago's cooler weather moves in!

Everything was amazing. Tamarind whiskey sour was delicious. We had the Lamb Pasanda and Dal Palak which were both full of flavors. The Lamb Pasanda was amazing! Jose our server took excellent care of us while we were there.

Great experience at India House. Even though I got in a 1/2 hour before they closed the lunch session, I was greeted warmly and welcomed in. They had a wide variety of tasty Indian foods to try, and I got a little of most of them. Everything I tried from the tandoori chicken to the chicken masala was fresh. A charming spot I think you would enjoy, India House is worth checking out. My server was lovely and I enjoyed myself.

We walked into a casual and modern space that works well for stopping by after a meal or meeting up with friends for something sweet. The interior is bright and clean, with a relaxed energy that makes it easy to settle in for a dessert without feeling rushed. The menu has a wide range of options, from shaved ice and mango sago to cakes and other fruit desserts, making it easy to find something depending on your mood. The mango mille crepe cake is one of the highlights and a great representation of what the shop does well. We ordered a slice and found the cake made with thin layers of crepe stacked together with cream and fresh mango, creating a texture that feels light while still being satisfying. The layers are soft and delicate, and the mango adds a bright fruitiness that keeps the dessert from feeling overly heavy or too sweet. The balance between the creamy layers and the fresh mango flavor made it feel more refreshing than a traditional cake, especially with the mango being ripe and fragrant. It was also one of the better choices for sharing, as the slice was generous enough to pass around the table. Beyond the mille crepe cake, the menu has plenty of variety with options like mango shaved ice, mango sticky rice, and fruit-based drinks. We appreciated that the desserts are presented carefully, making the experience feel more like a sit-down dessert stop rather than just grabbing something quick. The shaved ice was light and fluffy, with a good amount of mango and toppings that added texture without overwhelming the base. The fruit-based drinks were also refreshing and served as a nice palate cleanser between the richer desserts. The shop can get busy, especially after dinner hours, but the line usually moves along at a steady pace. The staff handled the flow efficiently, and the turnover was fast enough that even with a small wait, we were seated quickly. The seating area is comfortable, and the energy of the room stays lively without becoming too loud. Mango Mango Dessert is a solid Chinatown dessert destination if you are looking for fruit-forward sweets with a lighter, refreshing style. The mango mille crepe cake is a must-try for first visits and one of the items that best captures the appeal of the menu, offering a dessert that feels both visually appealing and satisfying to eat.

I wish I was able to travel with one of their cheesecakes but they require refrigeration. Anyhow the cheesecake itself was delicious super light, fluffy, and honestly felt like biting into a cloud. I had the salted egg but they had several flavor options that I would've loved to try if slices were available. The texture is what really stands out, and the flavor was unique and interesting in a good way. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it taste like, but it was sweet, but not too sweet They only sale but I consider a personal size but it's definitely enough to share with two people, maybe even three depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have. My only downside like others is the price. Paying around $19-$20 for a small cheesecake felt a bit steep, especially since they don't offer slices. I really wish they had smaller portions available so you could try different flavors without committing to a full cake prize. They package it very well and they also serve you a cute little fork set and a knife for cutting which I think is contributes to the price. The shop itself is very cute with chic décor and a lot of Asian-inspired artwork, which adds to the overall vibe. Customer service was friendly. When I visit Chicago again I'd definitely go back the texture and taste alone make it worth it but I do hope they consider offering smaller portions in the future.
