Butter chicken
Ankit S.

The service here was good and the ambiance inside was very nice. The food came out in a timely manner and they had a variety of options on the menu. I really liked their chicken biriyani and indo Chinese noodles which came out nice and hot. Tried their fried fish which was really good, not too salty like other places but with the side of the sauce it gave a little kick to it.

Adda has always been one of the better Indian restaurants in town when it comes to food quality -- the flavors are rich, authentic, and worth trying. But honestly, the service has become unbearable. The staff are consistently rude and inattentive, and it feels like they simply don't care about the customer experience. No matter how good the food is, the horrible service ruins the entire visit. I kept giving them another chance, but I'm completely fed up now. It's disappointing because I would genuinely prefer to go here for the food, but the lack of basic courtesy and service makes it impossible to recommend. Hopefully management takes service seriously, because until then, I won't be going back. Ambiance Ok.

Throughly enjoyed dinner at Adda! Great spot in the city that you don't need a reservation for that has great food. Highly recommend the vegetable samosas as an appetizer. The butter chicken and chicken tiki masala were both delicious but didn't come with all that much chicken, so not great to share.

The ambiance inside was really nice. We got sat at the top and it also smelled nice inside too. The service was quick and the food was delicious. We got the fried fish which had so much flavors that paired well with the chutney. We also got their fish coconut curry which was so good, the coconut gave a little creamy taste to it and paired well with the garlic naan. We got their noodles and rice schechaun friend rice, which was good but was expecting it to be noodles and rice mixed together. Everything was good.

Came back and everything was SO GOOD and better than I last remembered. The indochinese menu is immaculate, chili paneer and triple fried rice and Gobi Manchurian are SO SO SO GOOD! I can't get over how clever the idea of having a little bit of Gobi Manchurian with the triple fried rice was. I will come back here over and over again. Indian food was great too, paneer was delicious and garlic naan was perfect. Service was also very quick! My request: PLEASE bring back ur lotus appetizer. I never got to try it and chili lotus is my absolute favorite I will buy your entire supply if you add it to your menu again!

Triple fried rice chicken and angarey tandoori chicken

We ordered triple fried rice- this is very unique dish from indo-chinese fusion. Recommend it for people that have not yet explored this fusion. We ordered this through doordash- Appreciate that the manchurian was given separately from rice, noodle combo. They know what they are doing thankfully. Manchurian good amount of chicken manchurian balls. Schezwan chutney was amazing, just perfect garlicky, spicy!!! Tandoori chicken was well flavored, well bbqed. Highly encourage the business to avoid food coloring in this, your chicken is well seasoned, flavored, definitely goes some sort of tandoor. You really dont need color, usually businesses that are faking the tandoori chicken procedure need color, I promise you dont need it.

I love this place! I can't say enough great things! The flavors are delicious, the waiters are kind, and everyone I've brought here has loved it.

Chicken Schezwan Rice Goat Biryani

Adda Indian Cuisine is an Indian spot that also serves some Indian Chinese food in the Little Italy area. Good Indo Chinese is still rare in Chicago so I wanted to give this place a shot. I got the chicken schezwan rice and goat biryani. Unfortunately the chicken Schezwan rice was mid. The rice is mostly red coloring with the flavor of tandoori chicken and some sautéed onions. Not bad by any means but not great and left some to be desired. The hunt for great, finger licking type of indo chinese food in the city continues. The goat biryani was a lot better! This is definitely a restaurant that you might go to for Indian food and you're less likely to go wrong. The rice was well balanced and generously flavored with whole spices and not dry with good meat pieces. I did like that they also included a boiled egg which is more traditional. Also not too spicy. The only con is that the box wasn't fully packed but a great option nevertheless. Overall a good spot for indian takeout and delivery - can't speak to dining inside.

Chicken Tikka Masala

I have never had Indian cuisine and passed by this place too often not to try it. We went in on a Friday night. We were immediately seated as there was only one other table, and the sat us next to them. For starters we ordered gobi Manchurian and samosas. The samosas had a strong flavor but were so good. My favorite was the gobi. It was so crispy on the outside but so gooey on the inside. It was spicy too. For our entrees, we ordered chicken tikka masala (medium spicy) and buttered chicken (mild) with a side of rice and 2 buttered naan. The food smelled so delicious! To be honest though, I was a little worried I wouldn't like it based on the smell itself but once I tried it, it was amazing. The buttered chicken was so buttery and the tikka masala delectable. I'm glad I got naan and rice. We ended up ordering some to go as well. All in all it was a great experience. I just wish the servers were more attentive and would recommend dishes. It was our first time there and we were confused as to what to order. Also, this restaurant is a la carte. Nothing wrong with that, I just want to share that information.

Schezwan Babycorn

Placed in Little Italy, this restaurant is in a really great location. The restaurant is nice inside. Service was pleasant. Food came out quick after ordering. In appetizers, we had the veg manchurian and the schezwan babycorn. Of the two, we all enjoyed the manchurian more. It is nearly identical to what you'd find in actual street food shops of India. The corn was also good and crunchy coating. For the mains, we had butter chicken and paneer makhni with garlic naan. Both dishes were really really good. We got them in medium spice but a little more spice would be better. Next time, I will be ordering the dishes spicy. Their garlic naan is really good. Taking a star off for a couple reasons. The main dishes had some food coloring which stained our fingers. That was an unnecessary addition to already delicious dishes. And, the tea was served warm not hot. I will 100% be visiting again and trying new dishes! I recommend anyone to go here to try some delish Indian.

Amritsari Chicken Tikka

I came here on my birthday with my mom who is visiting and we both enjoyed a quiet evening celebrating my birthday and I couldn't have asked for more since it was a week day. We ordered the Amritsari chicken tikka which had a little kick to it and came sizzling on a platter. Chicken was marinated nicely and had depth of flavor. It was smoky on the palette and juicy on the bite. We then got the nargissi saloon with Tandoori roti and it was a hit. It came 2 big pieces of potato stuffed with paneer in a cashew gravy. It went really well with the roti. Prices are quite reasonable and service very good.

After ages I got to have a good Indian food around Chicago. These days the insta friendly places have no flavor and only good pictures when it comes to Indian cuisine. I am happy with the fact that they are good overall. We were 6 of us and 2 kids. A good big group calls for a big space. With the 2 kids high chair the space didn't feel like running with the other tables. Good ambience and warm light and decor was definitely good to be at. With food We ordered Chicken 65 -5/5 Chicken chetinad - i have had better, would still give 4/5 Kashmiri naan - 5/5 Hakka noodles 10/5 Triple rice -5/5 And few others. Service wise they were friendly and welcoming, not quick enough. I would expect them to tell us the that this is last order or what not. Or accommodate our req. Overall positive! Will visit agai

Roti
Tracy W.

Came here for lunch a random Wednesday. Was pretty empty. Prompt service and welcoming when we got there. It's a really nice ambiance. Glassware and white table cloths. We got the Roti, the chicken tiki Marsala, and the lamb curry ghoti with sides of rice. I had black tea and my friend had a mango drink. Very tasty food! Great portions. The service was nice.

I was honestly so pleasantly surprised by this place. I've been trying to find an Indian restaurant…read morethat compares to the ones back home in Georgia, and Maharaj definitely came close. For lunch especially, the quality and portion sizes are amazing for the price. The service was extremely friendly and welcoming. It truly feels like a family-owned restaurant, and the staff consistently checked in on our table to make sure we were enjoying everything. We ordered a variety of dishes. My favorite by far was the chicken tikka masala - rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. The tandoori chicken, however, was just average to me; it was a bit overcooked and lacked flavor. I also really enjoyed the Josh Rogan and the mango lassi, both of which were great. The ambiance is nice and comfortable, but the wait can be quite long, so keep that in mind. Despite the wait, this has become my go-to spot when I'm craving Indian food. Great value, warm service, and mostly excellent food make it worth returning.

To start with, my dining companion and I ordered the gobi manchurian, which was delicious. As a native Bangalorean, I take my gobi manchurian seriously, and was quite impressed with Maharaj's iteration (since then, I think they may have removed the Gobi Manchurian from the menu: it was great while it lasted!). My companion and I assumed that the stellar gobi would herald an even more incredible main course, but were quickly proven wrong. The malai kofta was insipid and texturally confusing. The gravy was tasteless and the kofta balls were simultaneously both chewy and crumbly. Listen: I love malai kofta, because as the name suggests, cream is the central ingredient. It is sometimes possible to paper over deficiencies in a malai kofta with extra cream, but alas, that was not the case here. It was close to inedible. The naan tasted like grocery store frozen naan: even Trader Joe's makes better naan. The bhindi masala was oily and not too flavourful. We did not dare order more at that point. On the plus side, our server, whose first day on the job it was, was super sweet. He made sure we were well-looked after, and gave us complimentary masala chai. The chai was lukewarm and overly milky, with little fresh masala. The decor consists of stereotypically Indian art of dubious quality. The seats were comfortable, and the restaurant was filled with South Asian people, which usually bodes well for an Indian restaurant. I continue to be baffled by that. It's entirely possible that it was just a bad day for the chef, but I don't think I want to risk another visit. Overall, as much as I want to support Indian restaurants in the city, I cannot in good faith recommend Maharaj.

Business picked up a little over the next hour, but generally speaking it seems Thursdays are slow. The restaurant is beautiful. There were two people working out front. They were kind, but not overly ebullient. When ordering we asked if one serving of rice would be enough for two. She suggested we order two servings. We didn't need two servings. One bowl of the Basmati Rice was plenty for two...at least these two. I decided I wanted to try something different. We have had Momo before, but nothing like Chicken Momo Chili Fry (steamed dumplings of minced chicken seasoned with nepalese spices and herbs | fried | sauteed with green chili, bell peppers, onions, ginger and spicy garlic-chili paste). What an amazing dish! I'm not a huge fan of super spicy food, but the Chicken Momo Chili Fry was outstanding. The spiciness was spicy flavor, not just heat. They were delicious. And the veggies (green peppers and onions) were so tender and flavorful. If you are a fan of spicy then you need to try this dish. You will not be disappointed. Keeping with the 'trying new things' theme, I ordered Gorkhali Khasi (chunks of bone-in goat meat stewed in flavourful nepalese spices | a delicious spice forward sauce with tomatoes, onions and nepalese spices) with a side of Basmati Rice. The dish was very tasty, but the bone-in goat was a lot of work. Once off the bone (though I still ended up with bones in my mouth, which was nerve wracking) some of the pieces were tender and delicious. Other pieces were a bit gristly. Since the flavor was great, when we return I will likely order this dish with chicken. Mark ordered Chicken Tikka Masala (spice-marinated diced boneless white meat chicken cooked to perfection in tandoor | simmered in rich creamy tomato sauce). He raved about it! When he was finished it looked as if he has licked his bowl. In fact, he used some naan (we ordered Garlic Naan) to get every last drop of the sauce out of the bowl. The Garlic Naan was good, but I must have been full. I didn't finish one piece. There were four in a serving. I had to take a picture of the silver and gold wear. So very fancy, but a bit over the top. The plates were beautiful and were warm when they were brought to the table. We had a delightful meal. Oh... don't know if it is always like this, but we were there well over an hour. There was no rush whatsoever. Next time we are in town staying at City Suites, we will definitely return to Cumin!
