I read and heard so much about this spot, so I was really looking forward to visiting here. I'll keep this review short. I ordered the Butter Chicken, the Shrimp Butter Masala and an order of garlic naan. My girl and I shared our meals. First of all, the food is excellent! So much flavor in every savory bite. The chicken was tender and the shrimp were big and well cooked. The garlic naan was also very good. No getting that out of the way, let me tell you why I only gave them 3 stars. The Butter Chicken was $16.95, and it does NOT come with the rice. NOthing. They say you have to order a side of the rice. The "side" is $8.99!!!! For rice!!! Although the BC was tasty, you only get like 8 chunks of chicken breast. Like they gave me what amounted to be ONE chicken breast for $16.95!!?? They give you so much of the sauce, you can make a bowl of soup from it. Same the with the Shrimp Butter Masala. GREAT flavor, but for $17.95, (no rice), I got 7 shrimp!!! 7!! They charge $1 each for the chutneys. It appears you pay for EVERY LITTLE THING. Well I ordered 2 chutneys. They came in SUPER small containers that would hold about 2 teaspoons. I'm used to chutney having some consistency and depth that you can use a fork or knife, but these were obviously so watered down, it ran over my plate like it was rain water. When I told the waiter about it, he said they always serve it that way. I told him I never, ever seen chutney to be watery. Anyway, he didn't offer to take it off my bill, and I didn't ask. I really didn't want to make this an issue. So all in all, the food is all what everyone says it is...fantastic. Service was average, and ambience...well, I heard it used to be an Italian restaurant, so there you go. But damn y'all, why so stingy on the protein? I really liked their chicken biriyani and indo Chinese noodles which came out nice and hot. Adda has always been one of the better Indian restaurants in town when it comes to food quality -- the flavors are rich, authentic, and worth trying. But honestly, the service has become unbearable. The staff are consistently rude and inattentive, and it feels like they simply don't care about the customer experience. No matter how good the food is, the horrible service ruins the entire visit. I kept giving them another chance, but I'm completely fed up now. It's disappointing because I would genuinely prefer to go here for the food, but the lack of basic courtesy and service makes it impossible to recommend. Our bill came out to $60.29. We paid cash, in twenty dollar bills. The server returned saying they didn't have enough change on hand. He asked us if it was okay if we paid using a credit card. We said that would be fine. Returning with a credit card slip, we filled out the tip and totaled the amount. We then noticed that a 3 percent credit card transaction fee had been added to the bill. We asked the server to return to our table. Why, we asked, were we not made aware of the fee when we agreed to use a card? He stated that "we don't impose that fee, the credit card does." How is this our problem? We had the cash on hand. We were angered by this. He knew about the fee, and when he asked us for the favor of paying by the card, didn't inform us we would incur a charge. Had we known we would have fished around for the 29 cents to pay the bill with exact change. At that point it was too late to reduce the tip and total from the charge slip. We're very disappointed in this restaurant and doubt we'll return, but not only because of the issue with the gratuitous credit card fee. Also, because the food is no longer to our taste. The gravies that they use in their curries have for some reason gotten very thick during recent visits, rather than saucy. We got the fried fish which had so much flavors that paired well with the chutney. Came back and everything was SO GOOD and better than I last remembered. The indochinese menu is immaculate, chili paneer and triple fried rice and Gobi Manchurian are SO SO SO GOOD! I can't get over how clever the idea of having a little bit of Gobi Manchurian with the triple fried rice was. I will come back here over and over again. We ordered triple fried rice- this is very unique dish from indo-chinese fusion. Recommend it for people that have not yet explored this fusion. We ordered this through doordash- Appreciate that the manchurian was given separately from rice, noodle combo. They know what they are doing thankfully. Adda Indian Cuisine is an Indian spot that also serves some Indian Chinese food in the Little Italy area. Good Indo Chinese is still rare in Chicago so I wanted to give this place a shot. I got the chicken schezwan rice and goat biryani. Unfortunately the chicken Schezwan rice was mid. The rice is mostly red coloring with the flavor of tandoori chicken and some sautéed onions. Not bad by any means but not great and left some to be desired. The hunt for great, finger licking type of indo chinese food in the city continues. The goat biryani was a lot better! This is definitely a restaurant that you might go to for Indian food and you're less likely to go wrong. The rice was well balanced and generously flavored with whole spices and not dry with good meat pieces. I did like that they also included a boiled egg which is more traditional. Also not too spicy. The only con is that the box wasn't fully packed but a great option nevertheless. Overall a good spot for indian takeout and delivery - can't speak to dining inside. read more

I have never had Indian cuisine and passed by this place too often not to try it. We went in on a Friday night. We were immediately seated as there was only one other table, and the sat us next to them. For starters we ordered gobi Manchurian and samosas. The samosas had a strong flavor but were so good. My favorite was the gobi. It was so crispy on the outside but so gooey on the inside. It was spicy too. For our entrees, we ordered chicken tikka masala (medium spicy) and buttered chicken (mild) with a side of rice and 2 buttered naan. The food smelled so delicious! To be honest though, I was a little worried I wouldn't like it based on the smell itself but once I tried it, it was amazing. The buttered chicken was so buttery and the tikka masala delectable. I'm glad I got naan and rice. We ended up ordering some to go as well. All in all it was a great experience. I just wish the servers were more attentive and would recommend dishes. Placed in Little Italy, this restaurant is in a really great location. The restaurant is nice inside. Service was pleasant. Food came out quick after ordering. In appetizers, we had the veg manchurian and the schezwan babycorn. Of the two, we all enjoyed the manchurian more. It is nearly identical to what you'd find in actual street food shops of India. The corn was also good and crunchy coating. For the mains, we had butter chicken and paneer makhni with garlic naan. Both dishes were really really good. We got them in medium spice but a little more spice would be better. Next time, I will be ordering the dishes spicy. Their garlic naan is really good. Taking a star off for a couple reasons. The main dishes had some food coloring which stained our fingers. That was an unnecessary addition to already delicious dishes. And, the tea was served warm not hot. I came here on my birthday with my mom who is visiting and we both enjoyed a quiet evening celebrating my birthday and I couldn't have asked for more since it was a week day. We ordered the Amritsari chicken tikka which had a little kick to it and came sizzling on a platter. Chicken was marinated nicely and had depth of flavor. It was smoky on the palette and juicy on the bite. We then got the nargissi saloon with Tandoori roti and it was a hit. It came 2 big pieces of potato stuffed with paneer in a cashew gravy. Great ambiance, good value for the money, not afraid to use spice for those who like it hot and diverse adult cocktail options. What's interesting is, before entering, we questioned if it was any good because no one was dining in and there was a large sheet of paper taped to the window that said hiring for all positions. The quality of several staples was lacking and when we received an incorrect entree, our server didn't acknowledge it or apologize. To add to this, we were told that they were waiting on us to leave so they could close while two other tables that arrived after us continued to dine. Kerala Fish Curry Great flavor. Hands down the star of the evening. Butter Chicken I've had dozens over the years and it was my least favorite, The flavorful and texture were underwhelming. I wouldn't recommend it. One of the things I love about traveling is trying new restaurants. I was so excited to try this Indian restaurant just a block or so away from the Medical District in Chicago. It did not disappoint. My friend and I ordered Paneer, Biryani, Tikka Masala, and Garlic Naan. Yes, it was a lot of food, but it made great leftovers the next day! I will absolutely get food from here again. I only have two small gripes. We asked to sit by a window as there were many empty window tables but were told they were all for 4 people. I was greeted upon the door and great service throughout my entire experience with the waiter checking in on our table. We ordered the medium spice for both and it had more of a kick than we thought (but still a good heat level to it!). It makes your nose just a little runny but not enough to break a sweat yet. The dishes all were extremely flavorful in true Indian fashion. The paneer was soft and soaked in the makhani sauce, and big pieces of chunks lamb in the vindaloo. Their Kerala Pepper Chicken was insane. I got it spicy and it was the perfect spice level for me. Called to make a reservation, other places had 8-9 PM time slots, but at Adda we were able to walk right in and be seated at a cozy window booth. The restaurant is so charming. Warm and inviting with such fragrant and enticing flavors welcoming you as you enter. Seated at a booth, we ordered samosas, biryanis, naan and vegetarian entrees. The vegetarians samoas were a perfect appetizer. Stuffed with potatoes and green peas, these pyramid shaped pastries served with a spicy chutney were delicious. The kadhai paneer was filled with large chunks of panner, green peppers, tomatoes and onions. Delish! Found a new favorite with the Baigan Saraf. Japanese eggplant, desiccated coconut, and peanuts is a flavorful creamy yogurt sauce. So good! The lamb biryani was flavorful and filled with large chunks of lamb and topped with a had boiled egg and red onions. The biryani rice pilaf paired perfectly with the vegetarian entrees. Add some of the cucumber raita for a filling effect. Grab a basket of naan to dip in the raita or the other curries. The garlic naan was so flavorful. With the Indian scene in Chicagoland shifting away from Devon as it were, we are on the lookout for new places to try. Adda seems like a good addition to the Indian rotation. This Little Italy joint serves authentic Indian flavors along with some Indo-Chinese offerings (we only tried the Gobi Manchurian which was tasty and NOT your run-of-the-mill tomato ketchup variety). Portions were generous and everything we tried was tasty (though we had to request 'Indian spicy' and every dish could've used just a grain or two more of salt). The veg biryani was serviceable, the bullet Naan was acceptable while the Peshawari Chole had a unique flavor. Service was attentive and prices were reasonable for this area though entrees should include a small rice (its un-Indian to expect customers to order rice separately :)). The dining space is clean/functional but lacks Indian vibes - has a somewhat American/Irish pub aesthetic. They apparently serve chaat till 3PM (?) so we have to try that one of these days. This is by far my favorite Indian restaurant in the city. I have higher standards given I grew up with it and Adda never disappoints. The gobi manchurian, kadhai paneer and chole are always phenomenal. My husband loves the chicken 65, chicken tikka and the lamb vindaloo. We had the Bhatti Paneer first which was sooooo well seasoned and cooked. This was probably my favorite dish. It tasted like tandoori paneer and the whole spice on top added crunch. Serviced with a cool mint chutney which was a good juxtaposition to the spicy paneer. Gobi Manchurian was a great appetizer to share. Very crispy and saucy and salty if you're a fan. We did paneer makhani for main which tastes like paneer tikka masala if that's what your craving. They don't have PTM on the menu, but this definitely does the job. We asked them to make it spicy which was good choice! It was tomato-y and spicy creamy goodness. We ordered raita, bullet naan and garlic naan on the side. I tried Adda back in 2021 and I didn't like it as much, but I gave it another try recently and it definitely changed my mind. My friends and I had a games night over the weekday and we wanted to order in some chill desi food for dinner. We ordered Veg Machurian, Schezwan Baby Corn, Hakka Noodles and Triple Fried rice. It surely was an Indo Chinese Feast night! Everything tasted really good. They add food color for sure as the schezwan was really red. I place a Togo order, drive to the location and they cancel my order 5 mins before it is as expected to be done. So I reordered it thinking I made a typo with mt car.. and guess what... after waiting 25 mins they cancel my second order. (Again 5 mins before it said it would be done). The reasoning?! We had a reservation but as soon as we got there, the host didn't really offer a friendly welcome or greeting. He immediately said that we wouldn't be able to dine in without a reservation. We informed him that he did in fact have a rsvp but he just nodded saying that he had nothing available. It took a few tries before we were able to get someone to confirm our rsvp. Once we were seated, things ran a bit better. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The food took a bit long to come out but I'm going to say that it could've been because this was a school graduation weekend. The food was delicious, portions are adequate and priced perfectly. The place is decorated very nicely, the music is great, good volume so that you can hold a conversation with others. Street parking is a bit challenging. I have been wanting to try (they are open for lunch, close and then open for dinner). Finally tried for lunch on a Wednesday. 5/5-service and ambiance. Kind workers and staff checks in just enough and provided requested items/more water etc. but not too much to be annoying. 4/5-food. Tried chicken tikka masala and a lamb dish recommended by the kind server basmati rice and 2 types of naan bread. (Tikka masala is a traditional dish I use to compare other Indian restaurants). Asked for medium spicy on both. Lamb came out much spicier than tikka masala. Lamb was okay-a little too spicy for medium spice and I don't really know what to compare since I don't often order the same thing at other restaurant other than the tikka masala. Tikka masala was good but not phenomenal. My favorites so far are from Rangoli on north ave (there's a Lincoln Park location which I didn't like as much) and Chicago Curry House South Loop. In general, the chunks of meat are large so you get what seemed like 3-4-ish chunks of meat and a bunch of sauce and a few big chunks of veggies. I tend to like my meat broken up more. The rice was made well and the garlic and pepper naan were great! I will come back to try other dishes. And again, great, kind service! read more
