There is no satisfactory way to explain just how pleased I am with Independent Pest Solutions. I've had numerous occasions to call upon pest control companies and until now none of them fulfilled my wishes. They always found a way to explain away a problem and subsequently leave it up to me for the solution. I had a wasp nest take up residence in the crawl space of my home. So happened to see one of their trucks on a Saturday morning, left contact information on their website over the weekend, was contacted for an appointment on Monday. The inspection was on Wednesday morning. Don showed up timely, let me show him my pest problem and express my concerns, he answered my questions, made a quick inspection, provided a fair price quote and was efficient in dealing with the pests. The first service was great. It was a Sunday and they came right out because I had a bee problem. Very reasonably priced!!! Fast and friendly. However a couple months ago I called because these little bugs started to appear. I called and was told by the woman that the guy would call me with a time to come inspect. Found this group online and they had good reviews so I set up an appointment. Don came to the house and did a thorough investigation from the attic to the basement and all around the perimeter of the house looking at my rat problem. Unfortunately he was unable to pinpoint their access point to the house but gave me some really good advice and left me some equipment to address a few potential infiltration spots. I called Independent Pest Solutions on Friday about an animal problem under our house. They were able to schedule an appointment for Monday between 11am-1pm. A professionally dressed man named Dave showed up at 11:20am and after telling him what we had been hearing from under the house he went to work. He spent 15 minutes under the house looking around and let me know that there were only signs of a cat under the house and that everything else looked great. When I asked how much it was going to be he let me know the inspection was free. I was pleasantly surprised to hear there would be no cost. We have a ~1700sf manufactured home with a crawl space and three access points. The house was "installed" in 1986. When we bought this house six years ago, we guessed that the crawl space had never been cleaned or the insulation/vapor barrier replaced. We want to close up two of the access points in 2019 so this was a good time to have the crawl space "redone." We contacted three companies. In all cases, the main bid was to clean out the crawl space, remove existing insulation and vapor barrier, sanitize the crawl space, and replace the insulation and vapor barrier. The first company has offices in three Western Washington counties and its bid was $9,722.33. Because we hadn't decided whether to replace all of the existing insulation, they included an option to replace only damaged insulation but the deduction was on the same page as the complete insulation and not easy to understand. They also wanted to use spray foam on all rigid ducting. We didn't like that as we thought it would be difficult to spot a water leak in the future. The second company has offices in Seattle, Spokane, and Portland so they serve a much larger area. We really liked the guy who came out to give us the bid. He was very professional and even took eight photos under the house. He gave us two separate bids. The bid to do everything was $10,421.92. The second bid to remove everything but not replace the insulation was $3,789.98. Independent Pest Solutions has only one office (on Meridian in Puyallup). Their bid for the complete cleanout/reinstallation was $5,875.31. It took two and a half days over a two-week period to complete the work. I think this is due to them being so busy this time of year, their crews are spread pretty thin. Found out something interesting: it took one full day to remove the insulation, vapor barrier, and carcasses (rats, possums, one cat, and a snake). The access points were closed up with snap-traps inside but the crew couldn't get back for a week. During that week (April 4-11), my feet were freezing and we were really glad we didn't try to save money by not insulating under the floor. We're glad we went with Independent Pest Solutions and think they did a great job. We didn't get under the house ourselves to check but, next year after re-siding the house, we're going to have our original inspector come back to do an entirely new inspection. read more

We have been using them for a number of years and they have never let me down. We started with a rodent issues under the house when we moved in and they came - eliminated the rodents, removed the insulation that was destroyed, replaced the plastic on the ground and the dirt that was an issue. They have been monitoring the area under the house and in the attic and we have not had any issues since. They check out the home - inside and outside - every quarter and are efficient with what they do. Occasionally we have had wasp issues in the summer under the eves which they have removed as part of the monthly fee. Today they came and took care of a major wasp issue which was under the shingles on the roof and they (wasp) made an entry into the house. The technician came out immediately and eliminated the issue. I would encourage all home owners to talk to them. read more

When conducting research on pest control companies, Independent Pest Solutions (IPS) was the most non-aggressive and invasive company that I dealt with, just seeking information over the phone talking with Matt. I'm glad I settled with IPS to evaluate my home for rodent activity - the assessment was free. Jen, the service technician, was humble, straight forward, and very professional in outlining what was needed for our house to control the rodent activity and to modify the access points to our house. Due to Jen's thoroughness, she found areas in our crawlspace that I knew about. Work was done to seal up x3 points of entry, spray/deodorize, set multiple traps, vacuum droppings, and investigate our needs further. The reason I'm writing this review is because during the initial follow-up, Jen and Matthew fixed a door leading into a crawl space, discovered a nesting bat - sealed it with a "bat cone" (so it could escape but not re-enter), sprayed and swept the perimeter of the house, vacuumed, and deodorized again. Fixing my door was above and beyond what I expected - that's the customer service IPS provides. They came out to clean my crawl space. We notified them it was for the sale of a house prior to listing it for sale. The house was just professionally cleaned. They did not cover the crawl space entrance while doing the work and made a huge mess which blew nasty dust all over the house. This dust contained rodent feces as well making it health hazardous particularly to my infant son. It was a thick coating of dust as you can see in the photos. Enough to turn your feet black in a few steps. I called and asked to speak to management. Their remediation to correct the problem was to send their 'guys' back out to help me clean up the mess. No thank you. A credit should have been made to pay the house keeper I had to pay to come in and reclean everything. read more

I was told that there was insulation work and cleaning that needed to be done. They showed up on time, however they only spent 10 minutes under the house and charged $270 dollars!! also the crawl space entry was not even resealed to keep out any future unwanted pests. The owner of the company deals with the scheduling and customer service. The prices are completely unreasonable when compared to competitors in the area. Initially I tried them for a month out of desperation, the next month I was entered into a contract because a houseguest let them in unscheduled to perform a treatment. I called to resolve the situation and spoke to Don the owner, I called to come to an agreement about the houseguest situation and he proceeded to speak to me in the most demeaning and rude manner, aggressively trying to bully me into paying for an unscheduled visit. I was willing to pay double to get off the phone with him. Even when I first called the company the guy was incredibly rude when I asked basic questions about his product. Clearly he does not see customer service as an important feature of his company, maybe this is the cause of his sales desperation. read more

I only wish I could give them ZERO stars!!.. We recently purchased a home. The inspection showed previous rodent activity. The seller agreed to fix specific things, got quotes that were more expensive, so went with Independent. Upon taking ownership of our home, hubs went in the crawl space and found that only one thing on the list was done (when the receipt said they did more). Things like replacing the insulation, to them ment "fix" and just shoved the contaminated material back up. Cleaning the rodent droppings to them, ment pushing it out of the way to put in the THREE traps (you could physically see the trail where the tech went). Plus other things that were not even attempted. We had to call our inspector out again, at our expense, just to verify what was/was not done...At that point, shockingly the seller felt they needed to make it right, hired a different company at almost $3000 MORE to get it done correctly. This crew just left my new home...7 hours after two of them started. They took out so many contaminated bags I stopped counting.
