Can I give them 10 stars? It started with Steve, who spent valuable time on the phone with me to answer mundane questions and provided me with much-needed guidance for a newbie. Then David was awesome and super patient in helping choose the right bike today. (My family would've walked off on me after 10 minutes lol ) Kevin finished it off with a tutorial on my new bike and even tried to squeeze it into my car. It was well worth the wait in order to adapt to their new social distancing protocols. The whole experience made me realize how much I appreciate businesses like this to salvage my sanity. Incycle has been a great discovery since the beginning. After visiting several stores in the area I can say without a doubt that this one has been the best! Ed, Abe and Edwin have been great from the start. Very kind, helpful and knowledgeable about whatever you need. I thank you very much for the good attention and the great work. I look forward to the opportunity to be able to return soon and recommend it to acquaintances who need something for their bicycles! You guys rock! ‍ read more

People here are very friendly and helpful. The store managers, Jason and Rico, are super nice. Jason always finds a way to help my friends save money on bike upgrades. My friend Everet has worn out bar tapes on his bike. Jason recommended a set of comfortable bar tapes and he installed the bar tapes himself for Everet at no extra cost. The service manager Kevin is very knowledgeable . Kevin performed a RETUL fit for me and it was the best money I have ever spent on cycling. There are many seasoned mechanics in the shop, they often fix my bike issues on the spot. Over the past ten years, I wanted to get an all around lightweight aero bike that I can ride anywhere. One of the shop mechanics, James Wood, spent a few months on researching of lightweight bike components for cyclists who are over 220 lbs. He communicated the game plan with me on how we can built a very stiff and compliant bike based on S Works Tarmac. The result of his hard work was a custom built bike in size 54 with pedals and bottle cages weighed 11.6 lbs. I didn't think it could be done and James has made it a reality. There are many bike shops in the city, and bikes will always be rolling on two wheels. What you get here is an experience with people who believe in helping each other. Bicycles, builders and excellence are what Incycle Pasadena is all about. read more

Incycle Bicycles - 11.6 lbs S Works Tarmac by Mr. James Wood. Thank you James! - Bikes Near Me - Pasadena, California

I have never had a bad experience buying a new bike. I was always excited and happy and on cloud nine until Incycle. I typically gravel and mountain bike, but I made some roadies friends recently and started some road riding. I couldn't keep up with them. Speed is not a gravel or mountain bike thing. I am also in my late 60s and decided to get a road eBike. I came across the Scott Addict 20 eRide and liked what I read about them. They were in stock at Incycle, but the full specs were not on their website. So, I contacted Incycle and was told that the bike I was considering was a 2022 with the Mahle X20 motor. Scott used the X35 motor before upgrading to the X20, which is lighter and is claimed to be more efficient and have a better feel. I ordered one and had it delivered to the Pasadena store for pickup. When the bike came, it had the X35 motor. I should have refused it because that was not the bike I ordered. Still, I rationalized that the X35 motor has been around longer, proven reliable, and used by many other manufacturers, such as Orbea and Ribble. I accepted the bike and asked for the tires to be set up tubeless. But after the installation, I was asked to pay for the sealant. I have bought many bikes from other stores before - JensonUSA, 2Wheelers, and a few others and never charged for the sealant. I felt it was rather cheap of them, but they did give me the bottle with the balance of unused sealant. I took the bike home and charged it, but the bike's e-system gave an error message after the charge. I suspected that I may have the wrong charger, the one for X20 motor instead of X35. I called the store about it and also enquired about the bike's model year. The store manager asked for the serial number to determine the bike's model year. I emailed the number to the store but never heard back to this date. The next day, I drove the 33 miles (one way) back to the store, and after four hours of waiting, I was told that they had loaded the wrong firmware update earlier. This correct firmware was loaded. Good right? Happy ending? Should be, but: (1) from my research and response from Scott, I discovered that the bike is a 2021 and not a 2022, a misrepresented by Incycle. (b) on my first ride, there was a crackling noise from the front wheel. I initially thought there was some debris in the wheel, which got in when the tire was installed. I took off the tire and cleaned everything, but the noise remained. There is debris within the rim. So, I took the wheel to Incycle's San Dimes store, which was closer. They agreed with my suspicion and said they would take care of it for free since the bike is under warranty (I had the bike for just over a week and rode it only once for about 35 miles.) I went and picked up the wheel today. I was correct that there was debris in the rim, and the problem was fixed. But when I was about to leave ... Surprise! I was asked to pay $32 because the wheel had been upgraded to tubeless (note that I bought the bike and the upgraded tires from them, which they had installed). I did not want to make a scene and argue with them. I paid the $32. I was unhappy, but let's look at the bright side. I now have a "working" bike. Wrong! I got home and was about to install the wheel, but crap! The tire was incorrectly installed ... wrong rotational direction. Am I happy with my Incycle experience? You tell me. Don't get me wrong, the people working there are very polite and attentive, but the ultimate delivery of their products and services is questionable. They either do not know their products or lie about them. I have not walked out of the store with what I went in for. I will never buy another bike from them. And I am in the market for a couple of Specialized Turbo Como, which they carry and have in inventory. Got to start looking around ... read more

Every time I visit Incycle, the staff is great. It does take a minute to get someone's attention, but when you do, you get treated well. Be patient as the store is busy. I finally had the opportunity to purchase a bike from them. When I got home and tried it with my full gear, it turned out to be one size too small. I went in and talked to the manager who was very helpful. He did everything possible to get me a larger frame and when that didn't work out, he offered me a refund. Exceptional customer service. It states that no small parts are included, but mine did come with a derailleur hander and seat post clamp. Ordered a helmet online and came to pick it up. They had it in a liquor store bag. No box, nothing showing it's new... Looked like a return. Really bashed up. Hilarious thing is that last year I got a Fox fork with a friend, different Incycle store but ordered online and picked up in store. It was used (and abused) and nothing mentioned in the ad. I've purchased bikes and parts in store without similar issues, but the kids they have working in here are hit or miss in their knowledge. I've been told a tool wasn't in stock and wasn't available, only to find it on the shelf with the tools. Be your own guide and just rummage, but expect to pay full price. Managers seem nice and more bent on customer service. Service guys are way backed up it seems so I wouldn't come here for that right now. read more

I've been coming here for quite a while. It's a sponsor of the Pasadena Athletic Association (PAA), and as a PAA member, I get discounts and bike maintenance workshops, totally worth the $10 per year student membership fee. The staff is really friendly and one of my favorite things about this place is the conversations about our voyages. The bike mechanics did a good job fixing my bike. I got a professional bike fit here, which helped with my wrist numbness. Not sure how the bike fit compares to other bike shops, but I had some fun conversations with Sergio, who did the bike fit. A relevant comment not specifically about this place: In Pasadena, we have the big bike shops Incycle and Velo Pasadena, and somewhat smaller ones Pasadena Cyclery and Around the Cycle, which sell higher end bikes. Empire Bike Shop sells lower end bikes. Ironically, Pasadena really is not bike friendly. Even more ironic is that the two big bike shops are on really bike unfriendly roads. Incycle is on Fair Oaks, which is so bike unfriendly that I avoid riding on Fair Oaks whenever possible. I would take Raymond and then ride inside the Central Park or take De Lacey to get to Incycle. Velo Pasadena is on Colorado Blvd, which I also try to avoid. Isn't it bizarre? read more

Great selection and even better customer service! I went in to see if a bike I found by a dumpster was worth a tune-up - it was too far gone, but I was happy to get a new bike. Then when I needed help finding one, the guy who helped me was so knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and was happy to show me things within my budget while explaining the trade offs kindly. I walked into In Cycle for the first time yesterday to purchase my first road bike after recommendation from an avid bike user who frequents this shop. Upon arriving, we were greeted and asked almost immediately if we needed help, we said no as I wanted to take some time to look around. After finding the road bikes section and perusing through each one available, a young man approached us to ask if we needed help. I proceeded to tell him that I was looking for a road bike something such as the Allez Sport and told him my budget. I had already glanced at a Specialized and asked him what the difference was between the one I had researched. He proceeded to ask if I have ever rode a bike and said yes, odd question, but okay. When I asked about the riding difference between different group sets, he told me that I would not notice a difference. Could be true, but he also never asked where I would be riding or how often. The bike I was looking at was in the Sora group set and the Specialized bike available was in the Claris group set. Again, this would be my first road bike so I was not sure how important this was, but telling me I wouldn't notice a difference when you don't know what my intentions with the bike will be seems as if he didn't want to make the effort. He proceeds to tell me that he is more interested in selling me the gear, such as the helmet, shorts, and shoes vs. the bike as that would make more of a difference. When I asked about the other bike selection, he mentions that they do not have many feminine color bikes and tells me which ones they have. I did ask this, but he was more focused on the color of the bike than providing me actual details on a bike. Not sure if it was because I am woman and he was under the assumption that color would be my deciding factor in making a purchase, but it certainly was not. When I asked about trying out the bikes, he looked at me, I told him my height (not something he asked) and gave me a bike, but realized that was too big. At this point, my boyfriend and I had asked a few times that I wanted to test ride one and tells me that they didn't have my size and eventually provides me with a Cannondale, but does not offer any specs or information on this bike which was also in my price range. Once I gave him my ID and credit card to test ride the bike, I start walking out of the store to ride the bike and am stopped my another sales associate who asks if I had been helped which I said yes and asks if someone had taken my ID and credit card. At this point, I was really frustrated by the lack of professionalism and degrading behavior I had already endured, that I responded annoyedly, yes. The bikes require a sales associate to install the pedals, I do not think I can take a bike out of the store with pedals. After test riding, the bike was still a bit too big and I told the young man who was helping me and tells me it was my shoes (which could have been it) and am just shrugged off. At that point, I thanked him and asked for my ID and credit card so we could leave. I was hoping In Cycle would be able to help me with some questions I had to purchase a bike which is why I asked the young man several questions as I assumed he out of all people would be able to help. I understand if you don't know and that would have been fine to say, but there was no attempt in trying to get answers to some of my questions and instead say things such as, I would not notice the different gears and can purchase another bike once I start riding. No, this is why I came to In Cycle so I could purchase a bike that I would not regret purchasing a year from now. When I first walked in, I thought with the wide selection of bikes they carry that I would be purchasing my first bike here. I have never been treated in such a degrading manner at any business before. I am not sure if it's because I am a Hispanic woman and perhaps not their usual clientele, but I offered a very cushy budget after doing research with my partner who has been riding for over 10 years and had an idea of what I wanted to get. I am really disappointed with the poor customer service I received and refuse to support a business that treat people in such a demeaning way. read more

Come here early as possible during covid times/social distancing. If you come later, be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes before you can get in, whether to shop or get a repair. If you come here, better come first thing. Also, there is only street parking. Bring enough coins to wait or download passport parking app if you are driving here. I wish they were better at letting customers know about how long until you can get inside or saying something to the effect of, sorry, we are short staffed, our repair shop is very busy, it'll be another 15 minutes. I bought my bike there and the salesperson was wonderful! I told him how much I wanted to spend and he showed me a few options and explained the strengths/weaknesses of each. He let me test ride the bike and didn't pressure me to buy at the end when I wasn't sure (it's a fairly big purchase). The negatives come with the service. It's totally a mixed bag depending on who works on it. Sometimes they're really responsive and will fix it on the spot if it's something minor. Or you'll get a tool who will argue with you about something that you know is definitely not the case and then tell you it'll take up to three days for them to call you back and let you know what needs to be done after they inspect it. This is one of the biggest dealerships for a lot of brands, my advice, go to the San finals location instead. read more

My husband and I walked into this store today looking for a mountain bike for myself and our son. My husband also is looking for a new road bike and wanted to test ride a Specialized tarmac pro. He had it narrowed down to 2 bikes. We had just visited the location in Santa Clarita and was sent down to Pasadena because they didn't have his size in stock, 54cm. Onto the offensive part of the story. When my husband asked if he could test ride the bike, he was asked for his drivers license. But he left it at work and offered my drivers license and a credit card. We just came from Velo Pasadena as well and this was not a problem. The sales associate indicated that he would have to ask his manager which my husband said OK. He also said if it isn't permitted, that it is fine as well. Back story: my husband is not Caucasian. Instead of going to ask his manager at that time he went on say that there has been a lot of issues with theft (what does that have to do with my husband). He was deeply offended and walked away; we left immediately. Pfff. No thank you. You just lost out on a $7000 sale. Take your sales over to Velo Pasadena. read more

I am giving this place 2 stars because after my in store online order transaction, the store never followed up with me regarding my order. The in store customer service was great but looking back, it seemed like they were motivated to make a sale. I went to Incycle Bicycles on a Sunday to buy spin shoes. One of the employees was very helpful asking me what type of style, price range and color I was looking for. The shoe I liked the most and was in my size was bright pink. The employee told me he can order my preferred color online and have it shipped to the store. I was told I would get a call when it arrives, and someone would also help to install the cleats for me. This was very kind of him and I decided to go with this option. I put down a $40 deposit. It was Sunday and after placing my order, the employee said the shoe will arrive by Thursday. Thursday comes around, I did not receive a confirmation email or call. I call in Friday morning to check on my order and another employee told me that the supplier has been out of stock and that the shoe did not even start packaging. He told me it would probably ship by Tuesday. At this point I realize they are just throwing dates around and I asked if this was a time real estimate. He confesses and says he wasn't sure when the shoe would be back in stock because it depends on the supplier. This is understandable and I do not expect him to know when but I just wish they were upfront about it from the start so I didn't have to wait 1.5 weeks to be told the shoe did not even ship. I also did not receive any updates on the status of the shoe from the moment I put down my deposit. After all this, I decided to cancel my order and order online elsewhere. They had also returned my deposit. My online order elsewhere was cheaper and arrived in 5 days. read more

New chain, new tire, tube install. They did it fast and were nice about it. I like this shop.

I've had nothing but pleasant experiences in my dealings with Incycle. I first called there a few weeks back asking about swapping out my Look cleats to SPD. Allan was so helpful and friendly over the phone, even told me about the studio he teaches at. I later went in and discovered my Shimanos were 3 hole and I couldn't put SPDs on them. I was provided with immediate assistance on this visit as well, from someone behind the front counter. I then called a couple of weeks later to inquire on renting a bike for a triathlon since it's my first and I don't own one. It's a quick reverse sprint tri and I want to participate so I don't feel I need to completely invest at this point, just need a little somethin' somethin' to get my ass around the Rosebowl a few times. I've only ever cycled indoors so I stopped off at Incycle again this weekend, to test out a bike in their back alley to see if it felt like something I could manage for the triathlon in a few weeks. I let Joaquin know I was new to outdoor biking. He was so helpful. I let him know I wasn't ready or comfortable to deal with a road bike and don't plan on really competing for a time so I want to rent a hybrid to use for this event. He grabbed one, got me set up and worked with me out back until I felt comfortable enough to know I can rent this thing for the purpose I want it for. He told me the rental is $25 and I should rent it a couple days in advance to become even more comfortable with it. I then decided since I was there, that I would also purchase new Shimanos with SPDs since a few places I cycle don't accommodate LOOK. He helped me with a couple of suggestions and then got my cleats installed free of charge. I'd highly recommend Incycle. I've heard a lot about iMartin/Helen's but if you are in this part of town it's pretty safe to see they are the premier bike shop in the area. Joaquin will also be teaching new riders, so I hope to connect with him if I want to start riding outdoors (which I'm pretty terrified of at the moment), so who knows. I say, live outside of your comfort zone, or you're not really livin' so I guess I'd better start riding outside. In the meantime my new Shimano's and SPDs clipped in just perfectly at the establishment I needed them for, that I hope to soon be instructing at. I'll be back soon to rent the bike for the triathlon. If you have a question regarding bikes/shoes/safety etc. I'm highly confident Incycle is an excellent resource for your needs. read more

Reading previous reviews, there's been talk about "oh it's too pricey" or "oh there is no service." From the moment I walked in, I have gotten many helpful employees asking what I was looking for and if I needed any assistance--without being overly bearing or clingy. They are all also very knowledgeable and can give advice on both indoor and outdoor cycles. The store is very well organized and clean, in a fashion which reminded me of Bass Pro stores (clean, organized, and an outdoorsy environment which made you feel at home). As for pricings, I got a pair of cycle shoes on sale for a decent price with cleats, which the nice employees put on for me for no extra charge. I've seen cheaper deals, but the shoes I've seen with those deals don't look so hot. I'm loving mine and I'll definitely be back for any cycle needs! read more
