Every baked good I've tried has been excellent! I've ordered dozens of their breakfast pastries and a few sandwiches. Their treats are tempting and I finally decided to order one of their cakes for a special occasion. It was, of course, incredibly delicious. You must try the lemon curd with vanilla cake, with buttercream frosting. I ordered the one that came with coconut too. The thickness and smell of the coconut pieces were delightful and all of the textures seemed just right--the sponginess and moistness of the cake; and the tastes--the lemon which was not too tart, and the frosting which was not too sweet! I'm usually not a fan of frosting because it tastes so sugary but I finished the frosting on this one. The small size actually provided a lot of thinner slices to my liking, although it could be cut into eight larger slices. It lasted about a day or two because we kept returning to it for another slice. The presentation was also quite pretty. read more

I have been to this lunch spot before and it has wonderful homemade cuisine and a relaxed/picturesque ambiance. I'm not actually sure what was happening today, but the restaurant-on the whole-was off. I arrived at 2:00 p.m. and was informed while standing in line that, while the restaurant is open until 3:00 p.m., it stops serving lunch at 2:00 p.m. Huh? Yes, that's right: open until 3:00, but can't order lunch past 2:00. This unique practice is incredibly confusing especially when the restaurant fails to publicize this information. After standing in line for ten minutes (just to order) I finally sat down outside, as the locale has a very nice outdoor seating area. Once seated, I attempted to access the two restaurant-related Wifi portals, both of which were password protected. No Wifi for customers and only the owner knows the passwords. This despite the fact that the restaurant has several posts requesting its customers to follow it on FB, and has a coffee shop look and feel. After a short wait, my food arrives: a ham, cheddar, apple, and honey dijon sandwich on a Croissant, sans the apple. I go to the counter to ask if they gave me the correct sandwich and the dude at the cash register informs me that I received the right sandwich, as the "apple" listed on the menu is actually puréed and spread with the mustard, which is completely false. lol. I've had the sandwich before, so I correct cash-register dude and ask for a new sandwich. After a short wait, an apologetic waitress brings me a small plate of sliced apples, not a new sandwich, just the blatantly missing ingredient. This is a customer service no no. If the restaurant makes a mistake on an entree, denies it has made a mistake, and then realizes that the customer is actually correct, the kitchen should make a new entree and replace it with the one it messed up. That is common sense; but again, not today. I will return to this restaurant, one more time, as the food is incredibly good and the restaurant has a pleasant and relaxed vibe. I'm just not a fan of the customer inconveniences, e.g., long waits to order, no Wifi, incorrect food preparation, and argumentative cashiers; which need to be remedied before I'll become more of a regular. read more

This place is AMAZING, in everyway. First, I'm a very healthy eater and have been abroad over ten times. I must say this place competes with the best restaurants in Europe. We passed by looking for lunch, and we werent expecting such an amazing experience. You walk through a beautiful courtyard into a gorgeous Victorian house to order. The menu changes everyday and samples of bread are offered while in line. They were great handling my son's deathly peanut and sesame allergies, and the food came out perfectly. The food and drinks were amazing, the house you ate in was more beautiful than the old capital building, and the atmosphere was so gentle and relaxing. When I moved to Springfield after 40 years in Chicago, "culture shock" was an understatement. Thanks to Incredibly Delicious, I've been able to get over most of it! In fact. I have a Chicago friend who visits regularly thanks to the goodies he can get at Incredibly Delicious! Birthday cakes are ordered there and never disappoint; the raspberry croissants they sell at the farmer's market are reason enough to get there before 8:00 a.m.or risk them being sold out: the fruit tarts are visually breathtaking with flavor to match and they always have macarons that melt in your mouth. Truly a five-star breakfast. We have tried this place a couple of times, and the quality is without question. The breakfast croissants start with croissants made there. My wife says the French toast is the best she's ever had, and I would agree. It manages to be fresh and sweet without crossing the line into cloying. The cookies and macaroons are also good. Only minus is that they don't offer fresh squeezed orange juice, an odd oversight for a place with such an emphasis on fresh ingredients. We were driving to St. Louis and we wanted to stop for lunch, I of course hopped on Super Yelp and found this place in our states capital a little ways off the highway. We got lunch that was tasty, nothing to die for but good solid café lunch. The place oozes charm and is an amazingly beautiful old mansion, that was worth the stop in itself. Well let me tell you why you should get off the highway and go: THE MACAROONS! These are the best macaroons that I have ever had. Just writing this is making me want to drive 4 hours to Sprinfield to get some. I have to tell you I have had some serious macaroon experience on the other side of the pond and I stand by this statement these were hands down undisputedly the best! So glad we stopped! read more

What a charming bakery in a beautiful Victorian building. The pastries here are legit, you really can't go wrong. My cinnamon roll bun was not your grandma's cinnamon roll. It was light, flaky on the inside, crusty on the outside with a subtle sweet flavor and a beautiful golden brown color. It would put beautifully with any number of hot drink items on the menu. While we were going through Springfield, I wanted to stop and get a birthday cake. Incredibly Delicious came up as a great bakery. Prior to arriving, I read through the reviews and the place sounded incredibly intriguing. We decided to have lunch there. Upon entering, the building is an older, very well maintained venue-keeping up with the period that it was built. We walked in the main door, and were slightly confused as to where to go from there. We did ask and were directed down the hall. The display had two birthday cakes-both looked amazing. I selected the lemon-amazing!! We ordered lunch and chose a table-which they bring your lunch to you. The service was top notch, always getting refills etc. The lunch was flavorful and quick. When we served the cake later that night, it was unbelievable. Probably one of the best I have ever had!! If I could rate it a 10 star, I would. My only regret is that they are not closer. A co-worker brought me to Incredibly Delicious today for lunch. The restaurant is in a beautiful old house in Springfield with a cool garden and lots of charm. I had the BEST quiche (bacon and artichoke) that I have ever had in my life - hands down! The side salad with balsamic was also great. We went out of our way to make a stop here on our little trip. Kind of a let down. Although the treats we had were above average, I'd even say great, the whole experience was a little strange really. Upon walking into the house we were unsure where to start. We clearly had the look of "I have no idea what's going on" and were passed by numerous employees. We just guessed and went up to the counter to order a few things. Nothing in the case was marked, names or prices,and I felt like a big dummy having to ask what every single thing was. The girl at the counter didn't make it any less confusing and was not helpful. So after we awkwardly asked what we were to do next, seat ourselves in a randomly placed table or wait for somebody to bring us to our table, we carried our desserts and then waited for a server to bring our drinks. Really backwards to carry stuff to your table except our drinks? Why not just full table service? Then a potty break before we go see any and everything Lincoln. There were artificial flowers filling the bathtub. Filthy dusty and made me a little grossed out to think of the cleanliness of the kitchen. We've been here twice in the last few weeks. The food is GREAT! The service, after you finally make it through the line to order, is very good. This morning, the line was SO LONG! Granted, it is a holiday weekend, but they really, really, really need more than one register going! I've had all of the croissants and they are wonderful. Last visit, I had a scone with apricots in it and it was really good. We've only been here for breakfast. Well, they got the name right. We stopped for a treat on our way from the Chicago suburbs to St. Louis and it certainly was a treat. The coffee was excellent, and the baked goods divine. My 3 year old had a fruit tart ("blueberries! kiwis! strawberries!") and I had a vanilla raspberry cake (YUM). Our travel companions had a lemon tart and brownie, respectively. We all shared bites and all mmmMMMmmm'ed our way through our road snack. The front garden was adorable as well and the kiddos loved running around smelling the perennials and swinging on the swings. Single handedly the best bakery in town. Other than the layout everything is great I highly recommend the macaroons and any of the tarts. They make a wonderful buttercream icing for their cakes (it's so dense and melts in your mouth). Menu items are fairly simple, but done very well. They offer a limited breakfast and lunch menu also. The location is a historic old house converted into a business. As such, the lay out isn't great. You order and can wait for carry out or you can sit in one of the multiple dining rooms. If you go at lunch hour or right before close, it will be crowded and there really isn't a great place to wait on carry out, the area that would logically be a waiting room is a dining area. read more

Fantastic! My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. The cafe/restaurant is in a big, beautiful old home. My husband had a slice of quiche and a side salad which he really enjoyed. I opted for the chicken salad sandwich (which came on a hearty wheat) and a cup of the pumpkin/apple/bacon soup. The chicken salad was very tasty (lightly curried, not too mayo-y) and the soup was creamy and a great mix of fall flavors. A solid, healthy lunch. Friendly service to boot. ONLY negative - the tablecloths are super ugly (I can get over it). But really...... You come hear for that bakery case! Sweet heavens. We had a s'mores macaroon and a slice of the flourless chocolate cake, both of which we took to go. It's probably for the best because after eating the macaroon I immediately wanted to go back and purchase 47 more. So. Good. The flourless cake was impeccable - rich (RICH) chocolate flavor, but it had almost a mousse-like consistency. I would say that Incredibly Delicious lives up to its name. They have both breakfast, lunch, and dessert here. You can get whole pies & cakes to-go or on special order for the holidays. I'm a bit of a croissant snob, and these passed the test. The quiches looked fantastic, and the menu changes daily for the specials, which is always fun! There is a small selection of specialty dry goods that looked fantastic, but I don't see a lot of people buying 80-something-dollar bottles of pesto in Central IL. I ordered a vanilla cake with buttercream icing for an event and I had high expectations. The "icing" tasted like a pure stick of butter with the same consistency. It was falling off in clumps as I sliced the cake and had very little sweetness. I make cakes for events myself and this was not buttercream. It tasted more like creamed butter with a touch of vanilla and little to no sugar. The decorations were nice and the cake itself was moist, but we threw over half of the (very expensive) cake away. My suggestion is that you do a taste test prior to purchasing one of the cakes because the "buttercream icing" is not like anything I have ever eaten before. Many of the guests thought the icing tasted like biting into a stick of butter and those who did eat the cake, removed the "icing" first as it was not edible. read more
