After reading other reviews, I took my laptop to ITM Computer. It did not start properly. Being in the web development industry and having several computers, it's always good idea to find a reliable hardware repair company. That was my thought when I first approached ITM. Letizia, the person who answer the phone calls, told me to take the laptop to the ITM office. Once there, she made me fill out a form in the lobby of the office building explaining the problem and with my contact data. As I always do, I asked to be called with an estimate before they do anything. A few hours later, a technician named Mark called to ask for the laptop's main password. I had already written down this data in the form (since they ask me to do so), but I gave the password to him again. Some time after that, Letizia called to say that the laptop was ready to pick up. It will be $100. I didn't like not have been called before with an estimate. This time I entered in the office, a little one-room space in one of these multi-offices' buildings. In the tiny space there were the two desks of Letizia and Clyde, the owner. Mark, the technician who called, was not there. I asked Clyde politely to explain me the causes of the problem and how had they fixed it. He says that they had run the CheckDisk feature of Windows to fix some damaged sectors of the hard disk. Being familiar with this feature since the MS-DOS times, this solution seemed a little weird to me. But the fact was that the computer seemed to work properly. So, 100 dollars for having a CheckDisk done (for anyone not familiar with it, it is a feature of Windows that takes 2 seconds to set it in your computer). They say it took one hour of labor. Clyde tells me that, apart from this issue, the computer looks fine and it will probably be o.k. for a long time. Well, one week later my laptop crashes again. Same problem: it does not start. I've called ITM. I explain the situation to Letizia. She tells me that she has another client on hold and that the technician will call me back. A few minutes later, Mark calls. I explain the situation again: I paid $100 and my computer is not fixed. He "guesses" that maybe the problem is the hard drive, and that he will charge me 50-80 dollars for a replacement and nothing for the labor. If it is not the hardware, he thinks I would better buy a new computer (this one is a two-years-old HP Pavilion). I politely tell him that I am very disappointed with ITM. I don't think their behavior have been professional and ethical with me. They made a wrong diagnostic, didn't give me an estimate, did not fix the problem and do not response properly when I complain. Mark tells me that "he is just a technician", that he will speak with Clyde about it and that Clyde will call me. Since then, I've had no news from Clyde. Being an entrepreneur myself, I would had been happy to write a good review for ITM and help a small company grow. Unfortunately their behavior has not been correct and I cannot recommend ITM to my fellow yelpers. UPDATE. One day later, I update the previous rating from 1 star to 4 stars due to the fast and ethical response I got from Clyde. A few hours after speaking to Mark, Clyde called and invited me to have a free diagnostic. I went back to his office and meet with him and Richard, other technician. After one hour trying, Richard was unable to determine the cause and the solution of my laptop's problem. At that point, Clyde offered me to have my money back since the problem was not fixed. I appreciate very much the interest and attention Clyde has showed in order to solve my complaint. As I told him, there is no shame in recognize that sometimes one just don't have the solution. On the contrary, it shows professionalism and respect for your client. On top of that, it maintains your reputation intact so the client will be sure that you are a trustworthy professional. read more

During the process of changing out my laptop's HDD for a larger one and formatting the new internal drive, somehow my external backup drive became corrupted and inaccessible. All I got when trying to access the external drive was the message "Your drive is not formatted. Do you want to format now?" A sick feeling welled up in me. The external drive was physically fine, but the partition had somehow become corrupted and would not let me access the contents, which contained over ten years of digital images as well as several recent image backups of my laptop's HDD. Since I have never found myself in this predicament before, I didn't know where to look for professional help. A Google search of data recovery services yielded many names - too many to deal with. I looked to 'Yelp' for assistance in narrowing the list. This is where I discovered 'ITM Computing' and found them to have a high customer rating. I went to the 'ITM' offices on Stewart Drive in Sunnyvale and met office manager, Lisa Fernandez, and technical engineer, Nick. Lisa and Nick were very friendly and professional. After explaining the events preceding the problem with my 500GB external drive to Nick, he went immediately to work on examining the drive. It turned out that the recovery program Nick used to examine the drive was going to take more than four hours to run and he advised that I should check back the next morning for a status report. Unfortunately, the next day's report was not good. ITM's technical engineer, Frank, explained that they were unable to access or recover the data on my external drive. Lisa and Frank gave me contact information for another data recovery company with clean room resources that could take the recovery to the next level. Since 'ITM' was not able to recover data from my drive, I was not charged the normal $200-250 fee. Even though my first experience with 'ITM Computing' did not end with a successful data recovery, I would highly recommend them to anyone as this experience left me with a sense of respect for their integrity, professionalism and compassion. This in spite of my deep disappointment for the loss of access to my backup HDD. Thanks again Lisa, Nick and Frank. There are too few businesses that carry out their functions while also heeding the sincere moral obligation we expect of decent people or teams. Frankly, I never saw one such business in California until about 3 weeks ago when I dealt with ITM for the second time. After I spilled water on my tablet PC and haplessly fried my motherboard in an unsuccessful attempt to repair the system myself, I checked in my tablet PC to Clyde's team. I wanted a quote instantly so I could lock in a price and have them commit to a "no-change-in-price-or-timing" term -- you know, the kind of terms in a terms sheet a la business as usual; sort of risky but that's the nature of hedging. Anyway, ITM got back to me with a quote, but they stated that this could change. This was the exact response I did not want, because -- in my mind -- I thought: 'of course, they'll return and present a more expensive quote'. So, I asked them to send me a "definitive" quote. And they did...yet, Clyde stated again, that this could change since I wanted a refurbished part as opposed to a brand new part whose price is known to be more fixed than the "refurb". In any case, after a few weeks or so, I was stunned. Really, I thought it was a prank. They fixed my computer and sent me the bill. It was a reduced charge; indeed, price changed and the price ITM got from its parts supplier was lower than the initial quote -- and ITM went ahead to make this known to me, asking that I pay about $100 less than had been anticipated, when, frankly, they -- like most other businesses -- could have just kept quiet and let me pay the initial higher charge. But they did not! Indeed, I find this very exemplary. I think I have seen one or two honest businesses but seldom the kind of honesty that has to do with money -- especially when a client was just about to write a check for a higher "figure". Wow...so far, these guys are good - in many respects if not all. Pure and simple! I'm in awe and am still pleasantly surprised. Hopefully, other businesses (and even individuals) in the area and yonder will take a cue from ITM. How lovely that would be! read more

I have had a long and happy business relationship with Clyde, which began not long after he began his business. I wanted to share my impressions of him. Clyde has a sweeping knowledge of the entire computer & electronic industry (it never ceases to amazes me). I admire his professionalism, his happy, calm, gentle personality (he is truly one of the good guys in this world), his flexibility, and his ability to alleviate severe panic attacks! Clyde has totally been there for me daytime, evenings, and weekends, when I was sure I just did some stupid thing that resulted in the loss of all the information on my computer. He has also constructed a computer for me, program by program, that I feel is secure, has a really great spam protection, and also has bells and whistles that Clyde offered to install because he knew would lighten my work load. He has also been open to installing programs that I have seen discussed somewhere and like, provided they are safe, do not interfere with my other programs, and that there aren't better ones available. I love his premium service plan that provides me with remote tune-ups and at least one on-site visit every year. It keeps my computer very up-to-date in all ways. Clyde keeps completely current on all issues concerning not only computers but also telephones, palm-type devices, etc. He holds conferences and training events frequently that deal with a variety of electronic programs and gadgetry. He will even teach you how to use Send Out Cards (and gifts), a great program that will let you send cards and small presents to family, friends, and clients. For my birthday late last month, I received a lovely card and some goodies that were so exquisite that they were gone in just hours! Clyde is, in short, just the very best. Good quality IT support is very hard to find these days. I have worked with several in the Phoenix area and have not had any luck. A friend from California recommended ITM Computing as they also have remote support in addition to live support. I had already read many of the reviews on Yelp before I made the call. When I called I was amazed at the quick response from this company. When I deal with local IT personnel it takes 2-3 days for the professionals to find time to fix my computer. ITM Computing was on the phone within a couple hours aiding in my issues. They were able to successfully resolve my problem all over the phone!! This is a major advantage for me as I can not find the time to bring my computer in to someone to have it looked at. Not only did they resolve my issue, but they increased the computer's performance as part of the whole deal. I know that I will continue to utilize this excellent remote service for my own IT needs. One thing I did notice were the reviews about the location of the company. As I have never gone, being in Phoenix and all, I have never experienced this. Although I will say I noticed the address is now different from the original address so I bet the actual office address is now listed. I am glad I decided to experience the company for myself instead of just taking the word of the two 1 star reviews. We are a small business with very modest IT needs, but they are crucial to our operations, and security is paramount. We previously had an IT professional to keep our systems current, running and "clean", and it was a disaster! The bills came regularly for "tech support", but when we actually needed it (always an emergency!), he could never be found. What a difference when we contracted with ITM and Clyde! After assessing our needs and reconfiguring our systems to function as expected, they have been a dream! When there is a problem, not only can they be reached 24/7, but they get back to you right away and most problems are fixed over the phone, remotely, or, if required, "on site", usually within 24 hours. I cannot say enough good things about ITM!! They are one of the most professional, efficient, and reasonably priced businesses you will EVER have the pleasure of working with. My laptop was infected with spyware and many other viruses and the amazing folks at ITM took care of my computer within just a few hours. As soon as I dropped off my laptop, they had their tech take a look and called me back right away with an estimate on both the time it would take to fix my laptop as well as an estimate on the cost. I want more than 5 stars for Clyde and the In The Moment staff! When I moved, I was looking for a geek-type to guide me through a router install and to get some wireless things going at my new apt. I Yelped In the Moment (ITM), liked what I read, made an appt. and waited. And waited. Nothing. Well!, I fumed, THEY blew ME off! I was going to move on and thought, "Wait. They need to know that I'm not happy being ignored like this." So I sent an unhappy email, not expecting much in return. Well, Clyde was on it in a flash! He apologized, wanted to know how and with whom I'd made the original appt., and then -- Ta! Da! -- sent Josh the Wonder Kid to set me up and make me smile. (Do I dare mention that Josh's initial visit was gratis?) Josh is far too young to know so much! And don't let his quiet demeanor fool you for one minute. This kid knows of what he speaks. We have a small business and moved in January, when many tax-related items are due. We moved in early January, so I had decided to do the tax stuff after the move when there would be more time. Well, the unimaginable happened. In its new location, my iMac would not turn on. I was feeling distressed until I found In The Moment Computing's Yelp page and the amazing reviews they received. Surely, they could do something to make the computer work again. I was not disappointed. It took two or three days to diagnose the problem. After one day, they thought it might be a power supply issue, but wanted to have another tech look at it to make sure. Two days ago, I became one of "those people" that I used to make fun of...you know...the ones who "spill" something on their laptops? Outstanding Help!!! I oftend access my work computer from home and work evenings, weekends and holidays, I'm in real estate. Just before the holiday weekend my computer froze up and stopped me dead in my tracks. I'm not very computer friendly, so when my daughters moved out and went away to school I realized that the only way to keep in contact with them was to become computer friendly. Unfortunately I did it it all wrong, I went on sites that I was not supposed to and did some changes of my own thinking it was the way to fix my computer from doing the things it did, well I was wrong. My computer got infected with a really bad virus and it was very frustrating. My neighbor then pointed me to ITM Computing for service. When I called and explained my issues they sent someone to my home the next day. The tech was very helpful and quick he fixed my computer right up even installed some programs that will help me with learning how to move around better in my computer, he also trained me on alot of questions that I had he was more then beyond helpful. First let me just say I don't usually write reviews, however the guys at In The Moment Computing REALLY helped me out of a pickle. Last weekend in the middle of an online training course my computer was attacked with a virus, actually I had 8 of them!!!!!!!! I immediately took it to a local computer place in Oakland, and they told me they could clean it up by Monday afternoon. Yikes, that wasn't what I wanted to here. I was desperate and needed to finish this course come week's end. I called ITM, and without seeing the damage, they said it was very likely it could be cleaned up and back to me in the same day. I drove over an hour to Sunnyvale, and let me say it was well worthy the drive. Everything was saved and intact. Suddenly and without warning, I was unable to get into my email at a time when I especially needed immediate access for various reasons. I spent an hour with Comcast online and over the phone to no avail, then I called In the Moment Computing,a superb company of responsive, patient and courteous experts I have used before. Clyde Lerner made time to call me that same day to try to diagnose and fix the problem by phone - he patiently and with good humor persevered with my computer ignorance and fear. Nick came the next day and zeroed in on the proper fix in just a few minutes, then cleaned temp files and registry errors before doing likewise on my son's older laptop. I had a problem with a computer that was under warranty but the computer company continually put me off and gave me the run-around. I appealed to ITM Computing who actively fought for my case and succeeded in getting a replacement. They spent many hours on my behalf, then sent Mark, an excellent technician, to my home to set it up. ITM went beyond the call of duty to bring me satisfaction, even though it was not their responsibility. Their whole staff was always been courteous and prompt, and even though I am not a high profile company -- just an individual. -- they went out of their way to help me. I was working on an important project for college, when my computer started acting sluggish... thereafter it just came to a complete freeze!! I was freaking out... didnt know what to do... dont really even like using computers unless its necessary. I called one of my friends, and they referred me to ITM computing... I called and spoke with Cher, and she was the friendliest person I have ever had to communicate with. She got me an appointment that worked with my schedule... and was actually really concerned that my computer get fixed in time for the due date of my paper. =) SHE WAS GREAT!! Now I dont need to pay the ridiculous price that Geek Squad tried to throw at me... because I felt I was treated like an individual rather than just another customer. THANKS TO THE ITM TEAM!!!
