We are definitely In-N-Out addicts, so we were super excited to see there were locations in San Antonio. It's a must stop every time we are in California. We were shocked that my mom had never tried it, so we had to take her! And yes, she is now a fan! This location has the same high quality of service and as all the locations I've visited If you haven't been, the menu is minimal, just burgers, cheeseburgers, pop and shakes. There is of course the "secret" menu to improve on the already delicious burgers and fries. Animal style is my "secret" item of choice. I say "secret" because I'm pretty sure most people that have been to an In-N-Out more than once know it. I would recommend if it's your first visit, just go with a standard hamburger or cheeseburger so you can get the original taste. Strike one. We ordered double doubles without lettuce, tomato & onions. And they came with with all of em. Strike two. We ordered 4 cokes and a lemonade. We got 2 lemonades and 3 cokes. I lived in California for a long time and In n Out wasn't a big deal but my kid likes it. I don't know why their fries aren't very good either crispy or regular. I don't think they're double fried the way Gordon Ramsey says to do. I did his technique myself at home and they were da bomb. Their burgers are good especially with grilled onions (animal style) but we only get two special sauce packets for the whole order. Even when we ask for more it's not enough. We got two burgers, one with the regular double patty and one with the secret 'animal style'. The food was fresh especially seeing how busy the In-N-Out location was. The 'animal style' burger that we tried was a game changer though. All that juicy sauce made the burger 10x more delicious, if it wasn't delicious to begin with. I don't think it's because the service even though they took extremely long for just a simple burger and fries but overall the burger tasted like old burnt grease from the griddle and had no juice in it. This was the first time at an In-N-Out burger. I was thinking it would be similar to Wattaburger. I was wrong. This restaurant was very clean, the workers extremely friendly and helpful. Out food was made after we ordered. They hand test the lettuce leaves for your burger. I saw a number of patrons having the lettuce leaves for their bun. How carb smart! I would do that if I knew. Finally got to see what the hype was about! I really loved how quick and ready to eat these burgers were! They have this secret "animal style" which you should definitely get because it will satisfy all your food cravings! The people worked so fast to accomplish our big order and everything tasted great. I really liked how the prices for the cheeseburgers were $3 or less compared to other burger prices. The cheese fries are what stole my heart. I love how amazing the fries tasted and crispy they were. This place really knows how to make their customers happy. I wish they had an in n out in Florida! So it seems all the San Antonio locations are reviewed under this location. My review is for the 1604 and Culebra location. If that is somewhere else please let me know cause I couldn't find it. Now first off I'm an In n out Virgin....first time to order or have anything from this chain. My score reflects an overall score for the entire order so In n out super fans hold on. And I compare like to like, in other words not comparing to Tycoon Flats or other specialty burger places. 5 stars...Ease of getting my order in and correct. The person was very polite and took me through what I was trying to order off the secret menu. Some of my terms were not right and some things they don't do anymore or don't do here. But never made me feel stupid and the order was correct when I received it. Minus 1 star ...Fries....I thought these were like what you get out of that can of fries only worse. But this may totally be my fault in how I ordered them. Even the great packet of animal sauce couldn't save them. Now I'm a girl who enjoys dipping her fries in Mayo so this sauce was a delicious upgrade there. Now I asked for well done as I was following advice from different pages on the secret menu. Most were hard and had a sawdust taste..,some were ok but not good enough to repeat. Now in fairness I'll try them again but not anytime soon. - Or no stars for my milkshake....it was barely cool not cold at all and like drinking flavored milk. If I have to compare it reminded me more of Burger boy...when not crushed, than What a burger but rates ahead of both of them for burgers. First time trying this famous establishment. My expectations were high. I ordered a Double double add onion and pickle with an order of fries, extra spread on the side. Went through the drive through. Got there right at the perfect time. It was not busy. Only 2 cars ahead of me. Service was fast and professional. Food was fresh and very delicious. I did freshen up my fries in the air fryer for a couple of minutes as they were cold after my drive home, approximately 12 minutes. The only complaint is they forgot the spread on the side. That's what happens when you expand too much. Have nothing but bad things to say about this In N Out burger. Actually, I think it's a decent chain. Not spectacular like a lot of Californians with no taste in Burgers think. But it's better than Texas' pride and joy Whataburger - and probably better than Burger King and way better than Wendy's or Shake Shack (the worst and always has been). It's great that they are now in Texas but this particular location does not live up to the standards of the others, as on two occasions out of the three that I have been here it has been closed when it is supposed to be open - for no apparent reason - with no warning, with no sign on the door - and they need to sort themselves out. read more

It is very easy to find, right next to the I35 there's no way to miss it. I have heard so many great things about their burgers and when someone told me that there was a location here in Texas I needed to come and try it. The place is smaller than I thought it would be in the inside but it also has enough sitting for groups which is good. I came at a good time and there were no lines however I heard that it can be pretty busy here. I must say the hype bares no merit to me. I did not think that the burgers here were up to par with i have heard out there. This is a classic case of making a name and building a legend for a less than delicious meal. I ordered a double double, fries (both animal style) and a milk shake. Double double- it was a ok burger. Nothing special really, the most positive part of it was the cheese that had a prominent part on the taste and made my day happier, however the other parts of this equation were obsolete to me, the neat was so thin that for a sec I was not sure if this was a double hurger, the tomatoes even though clearly fresh made so much water in the burger that my bread was saggy after a bit. The animal fries- I literally did not like thwm at all. The cheese was hard, the special sauce is not special at all, it is just pink sauce with radish it is acidic and sad. The milkshake- it tasted artificial and it was so think that I had to eat dry my food as I waited for that thing to melt a bit. Overall it was a mediocre meal and j do not see why this chain has so much name. I am glad I came as now I can go on with my life and stop talking about this place. Ohhh my have I missed you In-N-Out. Nothing and I mean nothing compares to your double double animal style. I expected this place to be packed like the one in Austin around 11:30. But the burger gods must have heard because about 15 minutes later, the line was bigger. The staff were nice and friendly. I'm from Cali and this is always a taste of home for me. For a fast food joint it is pretty solid. You can get a cheeseburger for less than $3. Definitely enjoyed the animal style vs the regular plain cheeseburger which is quite plain if you ask me. I like how straightforward their menu is. The ingredients in their burgers are fresh but those fries are definitely not my favorite. I say go for the burgers and skip the fries unless you smother the fries in their Animal style sauce. They are very fast and efficient.
