The quality of the food has definitely gone down! I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was so dark. It looked like a burned hamburger patty. I pinched the crust of the chicken and it tasted so burned. The patty was so thin. I took it to the counter to show the employee and he told me they're frozen patties that they just throw in the fryer and they always come out like that. My mom and grandma ordered a hamburger and those patties were so thin as well. As soon as we walked outside, my mom started throwing up in the parking lot and the entire way home because the food was so greasy. Also, they charge for their refills a dollar for the large refill $.50 for the small I believe. Ridiculous. Now you know why it's so cheap. Would not recommend anymore. read more

Came in on a Thursday, half price night! But I came out for a chicken burger. No specials on those. I ordered a chicken burger, and fries. Simple enough. It was nothing special. The chicken was breaded, a thin piece. Not filling at all. The fries had no seasoning and no salt. They did have a good crisp to them though. The service was decent. Nothing special. I was so thrilled to see that Murf's offers a veggie burger! And it's only $4! It did not disappoint. It came with lettuce tomato and mayo, and then I added diced onions, pickles, and cheese. I wanted to try both sides--so I got a cheesy fry, and also some onion rings. The cheesy fries were smothered and delicious, perfectly salted. A large portion is only $3.50. The onion rings were crispy and light, very fresh and melt-in-your-mouth good. The drive thru line was long, for good reason. People are willing to wait for something locally made with love, for one heck of a deal! The drive-thru attendant was super bubbly and sweet, and thorough in double checking my order. The burgers are great here and for $2 a no brainer. Now this is not gourmet, it's drive in fast food quality and priced accordingly. First time here. My boyfriend used to frequent when it was the original owner. He said they were the best burgers in San Antonio back then so I had to try them out since I'm in the area often. The burger and onion rings were good. Definitely for the price. It was great, but I felt like my bun was a little overcharred (middle of it was black). The patty was thin but meat was seasoned well. Walked in and there were a few cars in the drive-through and I was there for a solid eight or nine minutes and even though every employee there made eye contact with me not a single person said hello I'll be with you in one moment or anything at all. I've always seen Murf's when driving in SA and it has usually has been the butt of jokes amongst friends simply because of the name. I finally tried it, more at my husband's insistence because of their Thursday $2.45 burger special. The burger was just ok, not much flavor and the bun seemed as though it was taken directly out of the bag and not warmed up. I would say it is a step below Whataburger but that isn't saying much because I don't think WB is as good as it used to be. Old lady working was RUDE. she cut us off and rushed us at the drive through, didn't get the order right, and failed to give me a receipt. We decided to go in, where she tried to start an argument with me and embarrass me in front of other customers. Upon having to go inside to ask for my receipt, she rudely ripped mine from a crazy long line of other receipts- indicating that she hasn't been giving them to other customers either. Upon inspecting the receipt I noticed she up-charged me a dollar for "extra cheese" on my cheese fries (after already paying the extra money for cheese fries in general) when I didn't ask for it and proceeded to try to argue with me as I attempted to figure out what the charge was for. Finally, she told me that the restaurant has been receiving complains on their cheese fries not having enough cheese so they started up-charging. Doing this without mentioning it to the customer, failing to update prices, and failing to give receipts is unacceptable, on top of that she was being disrespectful and genuinely tried to embarrass me in front of the other customers for calling her out on charging me extra without notifying me. Finally, she ended up taking a dollar change out of the register and slapping it on my hand with blatant disrespect. Totally unprofessional she completely ruins the experience and atmosphere here. Anyone who has ever eaten at Murfs knows that it is a San Antonio staple. It's sad to see that this is what Murfs has turned into. I have never had any issues with the food or service until today. Today at about 5:45 pm, We had the worst experience ever. The cashier seemed to have a very rude attitude and gave resistance to every single thing we ordered. We ordered 3 burgers in total. Two double meat cheese burgers with grilled onions and jalapeños add bacon on the regular cheese burger, no onions. On Thursdays, a regular Murf burger and cheese burger are 1/2 price. When we wanted to add bacon to the regular cheese burger, we were told that the burger would no longer be half price. We would have to pay full price plus the price of the bacon.When we received the two double meat burgers, they had no bacon. When we tried to order a milkshake, we were told that they were watery. We called for 30 minutes to try to talk to someone the phone just rang. read more
