    Panzanella
    John M.

My wife and I went to In Bloom at the recommendation of our daughters who saw the Michelin designation. After going, I debated whether it warranted a 3- or 4-star rating, but I settled on three because the experience was extremely inconsistent and we expected more given the cost and the designation. Here is what we noticed...some good, some not-so-good: - We arrived for a 6pm reservation and were the second couple seated. Shortly thereafter a family of four with two young kids arrived and the host seated them directly next to us even though the entire place was empty. The kids were fidgety and loud (as kids that age can be) so it wasn't too long before we asked to move to another table, which our server happily accommodated. But, I have to ask why a Host would seat all three parties nearly on top of each other when the entire restaurant is empty? - We ordered cocktails to start, and there were several fun cocktails to choose from and the portions were good. The wine list is also pretty extensive. - The Server described the menu as all "sharables", but don't think tapas, think family style dining. After having been there, we decided that we should have skipped ordering a type of main course and stuck to appetizers. That's because the two app/salad type dishes we had were good, while the main dish was a failure. - We started with the Panzanella, which was made special by the fresh tomatoes. After that, we had the Tempura Cauliflower, which was really well seasoned...it was the highlight of our entire experience. We then shared the Pachamama Pork, which really shouldn't be on the menu if they are true farm-to-table eating. Plus, at $49 it should have wowed us more. While it tasted ok, there wasn't anything fresh or bright or seasonal on the plate aside from a little lemon in the lentils, and, frankly, I've cooked better pork myself at home. - We finished with the Mille feuille dessert, which was so skimpy on the cream that all you tasted was the biscuit in your mouth. To their credit though, when I mentioned that to the Host/server as we were paying, he brought out a plate with some more cream and we finally got to taste the brown butter, etc. that was supposed to be highlighted in the dish. - Service overall was good. The vibe is ok...it is not the comfiest place, but we did like the LPs being played on the sound system. I would also say that given the prices they charge, they should have made an effort to wipe/clean our table between dishes as drops/bits from each dish collected during our entire meal. - Be aware that there is a 3% credit card surcharge. While that is noted on their website, it wasn't on the menu. And, maybe it's just me, but if a place wants to be more fine dining, then just charge more to make up for the credit card fees versus adding it onto your bill. Bottom line: We've had much better meals in Paso Robles and though we expected to be wowed by In Bloom given its Michelin designation, it just didn't deliver.

I don't want to write this review because we already spoke to the owner and he was wonderful. But we went as a recommendation bc our initial restaurant canceled I felt like the kitchen was completely lost. The dishes were confused. Each one missed the mark in different ways. A simple example- the focaccia (which was not focaccia) was served with the completely wrong knife. The knife could've easily slipped, and you could've cut yourself. The shrimp Tostada was so disappointing, the pasta dish/ravioli was soupy, and the pork belly- just absolutely no. It's a gorgeous location, great spot, beautiful, the owner is so very nice and did comp a couple dishes, but I think they need to re-evaluate the kitchen and work on execution.

What a beautiful restaurant. The decor and aesthetic was eye-catching upon arrival. The hostess, our waitress, the owner, and every other employee that I interacted with was just delightful. Truly. I haven't dined at many Michelin Star spots and this one will be memorable. The oysters and their fancy fixings were possibly the best I've ever had. Get that zinc, baby. I am gluten-free (not celiac) and the menu did work for me. That said, the options were limited given how small the menu is in general. Something to know ahead of time. Also, if you are an animal-protein forward diner, you may need to order multiple dishes. I found the protein to carbohydrate ratio to be a bit off. Outside of that, each plate had a unique taste and was impressive on some level. The Hamachi plate was my favorite (although it does have a spice to it! So beware if you're sensitive) and I would absolutely order it again. I personally wasn't a fan of the steak, which surprised me. Over all, this is a wonderful date night spot and I would recommend.

The only con of having a favorite restaurant you don't want to give up is you have limited chances to try new ones. This time I finally got a chance to try In Bloom that a friend recommended to us a year and a half ago. The beet salad with edible soil a.k.a seasoned breadcrumbs was beautifully presented and delicious. The korobuta pork chop charged by the ounce means you get the size you need to share but leans on the pricy side due to the weight of the bone and fat cap. The standout was the king salmon and the chef did it justice, perfectly cooked, so moist and buttery. I personally would skip the drinks next time as it was just okay and save the money for the food. Right next door to LeoLeo if you want to split a gelato afterwards.

Everything was exceptional, truly, from the service to the food. The ricotta triangoli was everyone's favorite so if i had to recommend anything in particular it would be that but honestly you can't go wrong with anything here. The dish we all liked least was the chips and dip (with caviar). The interior is also beautifully decorated and even the bathrooms are beautiful. Obviously it's expensive but it's worth it for the quality of food and upscale dining experience. Highly recommend !

Super cute restaurant and pretty good food. The best part were the owners so took the time to come by our table and speak with us.

I loved how fresh everything tasted. The menu looked delicately curated with so much love. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, she was so kind and warm. Must try - mushroom dish

My favorite dinner in Paso Robles... even above those places you'll find via Michelin. Flavors, colors, etc. We're on point for everything we ordered. Service was great. We'll definitely be back when we visit next!

Absolutely loved the food and drinks--everything was bursting with flavor. The gnocchi was especially outstanding--pillowy, rich, and perfectly cooked. And the bread? Truly to die for. We had to sit outside, which on any other evening would have been perfect, but the wind made it a bit challenging to fully enjoy the experience. It got quite cold, and unfortunately, the outdoor heaters didn't quite cut it. Our server was polite and efficient, though she seemed a bit disengaged, which slightly affected the overall vibe. Despite that, I would absolutely return. The quality of the food alone makes this place worth a second (and third) visit.

Delicious, fun tapas style dishes. Not better than LA, but probably the best tapas in Paso Robles

We were greeted and sat right away. We did have a reservation. The interior was well decorated and the music was at just the right volume. Conversation was easy. We started with the Shrimp Tostada. The flavor was good but the shrimp ceviche were definitely under-cured in the citrus. We both decided upon the grilled branzino. Our server warned us about there possibly being a stray bone or two in the fish. Good thing because we both had a pile of bones on our plates. We were actually very anxious while eating. The fish came with two competing sauces on it. The worst was the strawberry chipotle which tasted like a BBQ sauce and over powered this delicate, flaky fish. Our server, Kelsey, who was awesome, noticed all of the bones and made the kitchen aware. Not until we were just about done eating the branzino, the manager approached, apologized and offered to fire us another fish. His timing was way off as far as his offer. I had branzino at Grace & Rose a few nights before and I couldn't stop eating it. It was $18 less expensive and came with a luscious lemon butter sauce and fennel. And...there were zero bones. Kelsey offered to bring us another item and we asked to try the Tempura Squash. We each ate a piece and didn't finish the rest. It was like eating baby food mushy squash in a tempura batter. The batter was well executed, but the squash was definitely lacking in flavor and texture. She then brought us a complimentary dessert which was the highlight of the meal. Management did remove several items from our bill. I normally would protest that but it was necessary and also appreciated. We dined here previously and enjoyed our meal. I can't see us returning.

We had the loveliest meal at In Bloom. We were limited in dining options with our pup and were thankful to find a restaurant with a great outdoor vibe, good food and very dog friendly. I was told the menu changes often so what we had may no longer be available depending on when you dine but the standouts for us were the pork chop and the duck wings. Our server was really personable as well. Give this spot a try if you're ever in the area!

    Maddy M.

Came here for my birthday dinner. I enjoyed the ambiance and our server was the absolute best. Favorite dishes were the scallops (OMG) and the yukon gold potatoes. We also ordered the delicata squash which was good, and the pork shank. We actually ended up sending the pork shank back because it just seemed really dry. I'm not someone that sends food back frequently. Our waiter was super apologetic and took it off our bill which was greatly appreciated. The manager came by and was really short with us. He said something like "Sorry the Pork Shank wasn't to your liking" and we started to tell him about how good everything else was but he turned and walked away as we were mid sentence. Super weird! We were kind of shocked honestly. Not sure I would come back here based on that experience, but maybe the manager was having a bad day. But if you go, get the scallops for sure!

It feels like a tucked-away garden you never want to leave. We came for lunch before wine tasting and had such a lovely experience. Kennedy was our server and she was great, warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. I ordered their Kale Caesar salad and it was not your typical Caesar but in the best way. It had raisins, red onion, crushed pistachios and the dressing had these subtle mustard seeds that gave it this bright, slightly tangy pop. It's their unique take on a Caesar and I'm officially obsessed. I'm definitely going to try to replicate this at home! My boyfriend ordered the soup and sandwich, and once I tried a spoonful of the soup, I instantly ordered a cup of my own. It was the corn and shishito pepper soup, velvety, a little smoky, and had just the right kick without being overly spicy. So, so good! The restaurant is right in the heart of downtown Paso Robles, making it an easy stop if you're exploring the area. We had reservations through OpenTable and arrived a little early. They seated us within a few minutes, and although outdoor seating was available, it was around 97°, so we were happy to wait for an indoor table. The inside has a really cool Spanish hacienda vibe with rustic wood beams, warm lighting, and plenty of unique décor to take in. It's a fun space with lots of character and is connected in the back to the tiki bar next door, making it easy to continue the evening with a drink. The atmosphere was lively without being overly loud, and we really enjoyed the classic '80s music playing softly in the background. The oysters were fresh and very good. My wife ordered the ceviche and enjoyed it. I had the hanger steak salad--it was decent, but I'd probably skip the beets next time and order something different. Overall, the food was good, but it didn't quite rise to the level of "great." Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, Fish Gaucho is worth a visit for its downtown location, unique Spanish-inspired atmosphere, and solid food. While there are probably stronger culinary options in Paso Robles, we'd happily come back to enjoy the ambiance, check out the connected tiki bar, and sample a few different menu items.

The second quietly gets on with dinner and lets you figure it out yourself. Six Test Kitchen belongs firmly in the second camp. It's a tiny room. A dozen seats wrap around one open kitchen, so everyone sees everything. That should be chaos. It isn't. No shouting, no crashing pans, no television drama. Just cooks orbiting each other so smoothly I caught myself watching a man spoon sauce onto a plate with the focus you'd give a guitar solo. I have never been that focused on anything, including merging onto a highway. Everybody slows down in there without being told to. Nobody made a rule. Nobody held a meeting. Within a few minutes the whole room is whispering like it's a library with a tasting menu. Ask the staff about a wine and you're suddenly touring vineyards on the other side of the planet. Ask about an ingredient and you get a story instead of a speech. By dessert I figured they could explain quantum physics, provided somebody opened a Riesling first. I stopped trying to remember every course somewhere around the middle. That's a compliment. I just accepted that these people had a better plan for my evening than I did. A few dishes survived the amnesia anyway. The bluefin tuna proved just how hard it is to do something simple. The duck showed up in several forms, including a warm brioche stuffed with confit that weighed roughly nothing. I now believe butter has discovered antigravity. The duck liver ran so smooth and rich my brain filed it under dessert and refused to correct the error. The fifty-day aged Japanese wagyu arrived and politely ruined beef for the foreseeable future. People love telling you this stuff melts in your mouth. This one had better things to do. It raised my standards, thanked me for my time, and left every future steak to explain itself. Somewhere out there a perfectly respectable ribeye is about to get a deeply unfair comparison. None of that is its fault. With the final savory dish, the chef came over carrying a handcrafted wooden box and opened it the way you'd show off family photos. Inside sat knives forged from recycled ball bearings by a bladesmith in Athens, Georgia. He handed me one to use on the duck. I held it with the nervous respect reserved for museum artifacts and someone else's newborn, then spent ten minutes concentrating on not becoming a line item in the restaurant's insurance paperwork. The service deserves its own paragraph. My water glass never dropped below half full, and I didn't once catch anyone filling it. Empty plates vanished before I finished admiring them. Each course landed the moment I was ready for it, which I found mildly unsettling, since I didn't know I was ready. By the end, the whole night felt like a ballet where the audience gets fed. I left already negotiating with myself about how soon is too soon to go back.

I admit it. I had fairly low expectations for a mid-level hotel, Cambria. I've stayed at other…read morelocations, and thought the food was fair. But coming here the other night to dine & socialize with friends, I was duly impressed and the food was excellent. Here at Ironhorse, we had drinks, and the gf and I shared a burger & caesar salad (her idea, not mine -- I like the whole enchilada), and partook of a chicken wing app. Whoa. The burger was absolutely delish and one of the best in the greater Paso area. The caesar was HUGE made with little gem lettuce -- we loved it. The wings were perfect, so good. Service was lovely. The server had an attitude when I had to return the salad for having cheese (I am allergic) claiming I did not request to have no cheese (which I did clearly). As to food quality, the appetizers were amazing. We ordered the home made chips and shishito peppers, which were the highlight of our meal. The quality was overall fairly decent. The salad was not properly washed and had lots of sand particles in the leaves, which made it inedible. I therefore leave a mixed review. I have no plans on ever recommending this place, or returning for another meal.
