We absolutely loved it and could not stop from eating. Felt like as if our mom or skilled grand mom back home cook and serve us. We also ordered egg omelet spicy which was perfectly cooked with crunchy onions, green chillis and cilantro. While savoring this meal my husband was craving for yummy hot rasam and we were served piping hot pachi pulusu style rasam freshly tempered with loads of aromatics. the best for throat on a cool day. We also had salt lassi which was super refreshing and in cute cup with lids. The restaurant owner and head chef is managed by the same person whom we and folks at Ahaa referred to her as Akka (a term for elder sister in Telugu). A sweet lady who talked to us and gave recommendations. She kept checking on us often and was always attentive to our likings. Price is good and quantity is plenty. Location is inside DaysInn motel in a hall. Not something I liked but its worth it for the homely tasty fresh authentic food. Adding this to the must visit place everytime we visit Dallas.. Southern Spice is a solid 4 star Indian restaurant in Las Colinas, which is full of similar…read moreoptions, due primarily to great value. I haven't had vada pav sliders before but the filling is kind of like fried samosa filling without the dough. It's good. The serving size of the biryani was very impressive. You can see from the photo that they fill the container and then add another mound of rice on top of that - basically 2 servings (we took one home). And they didn't skimp on the chicken either! The chicken is cooked perfectly, the sauces are a great complement and this is an excellent dish. The Lunch Thali gives you a lot of bang for your buck and mine included ~5 pieces of fish fry, about the same amount of veg pakora, yogurt dip, chicken curry with rice, 2 different soups, a naan/tortilla thing, and a carrot dessert (like a halwa). All had good flavor and the soups have a nice spicy kick to them. However, since all the dishes for the thali come off the lunch line (ie all premade), the tortilla, fish and pakoras had been sitting out for awhile and not too hot. Had they come out fresh from the fryer, I might have given this experience 5 stars. As it stands, I'll probably be back for lunch anyways - and the thali is available 7 days a week!

Very nice decor and clean restaurant! The menu is quite interesting! We came on a Thursday night…read morearound 930PM and it was empty. We thought it was because they were maybe closing soon! But they said they are open till 12! We sat down and ordered a veg avakai biriyani. The portion was huge! The flavours were great but it was so spicy! (And we like spicy food but it was a little too spicy for us!) the raita was certainly helpful but we couldn't finish it!

Food (2/5): Karma's platter was well done compared to other dishes. Biriyani was lacking…read moreingredients, just full of rice. Lamb was chewy. Fish is good. Curry is a bit heavy but pairs well with their Naan. Honestly, the best thing here is their naan. Update: the chicken biriyani is pretty good! Drinks (2/5): Shocked by the quality based on their regular price. The Velvet Karma was okay (tasted like watery Bailey's with cinnamon). The Karma Sutra was mostly cough syrup, almost no liquor tasted in either. Both $15 each. Service (2/5): The waitresses are all hardworking but they seem super short-staffed. The whole place was packed but they're too busy to be out in the front. It took forever for food and drinks to come out also, despite it hasn't been packed yet. Took 15 min for the cocktail to be out and was watery... Ambiance (3/5): The live music at 7pm didn't start until 7:20. We came earlier and waited for it to start. Super disappointed and wanted to like this place. We can't see ourselves back unless these changes. It just seems stingey as a business to lack liquor in cocktails this price. The staff and manager were all nice, it's just not well run unfortunately.

The service was excellent. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Some of the spices used were not our personal favorite, but they were still good. The meat was tender. I could have an entire bowl of just dhal. So delicious. Parking is available on street or in back of restaurant.
