The ambiance of this coffee shop is very cute and fun with unique espresso cup decor. The coffee however leaves much to be desired. It has a burnt taste. If you enjoy local coffee shops, this is one to skip.

Illy Caffe was wonderful for grabbing a coffee before strolling around the square for some shopping! Leo conveniently located near Willam and Mary campus. Service was friendly and drinks were prepared quickly despite a growing line. I loved the unique artwork and displays, plus an entrance to the shop next door. I was extremely excited to try an affogato and it did not disappoint! I wish you could choose your gelato flavor, but the vanilla was amazing so no real complaints. Definitely would recommend and return again!

Great lemon donut, super tasty. I liked the crunchy bits. But on the small size, cold from the pastry fridge and cost me just under $6. Also the WiFi wasn't loading any YouTube videos.

Loved everything about this place. For one that HVAC system hits different. It was 90 degrees outside and had to be 68 in the restaurant. It was such a relief from the weather. My iced latte was amazing, I love that when you eat inside they give you real glass. The sweets were amazing. Wish we had one near us in south NJ.

One of the many coffee options in Merchant Square, silly had a variety of hot and cold options for you to choose from. While they can get busy, they can get through the line pretty quickly. Both the indoor and outdoor seating are also kept very clean. I got a caramel cream tempesto, which is basically a frappe. It was filled past the top when I got it, which was great because I was sticking around, but if I wanted a lid, I'd probably make a mess. It also turned to just ice when I had about a quarter remaining, which was a bit of a bummer.

It's Illy so those who know coffee know a good thing. I've never been to an Illy caffe before but was happy to find one in the heart of colonial Williamsburg merchant square It's bright, clean, serves amazing coffee, gelato, pastries, and COCKTAILS. Did I mention that you can enjoy an aperol spritz or espresso martini while the rest of your group eats their gelato or brownies? And it's fairly reasonable for a tourist area- $10 for the cocktails and $5 for an iced mocha. Service was fast and friendly. Stop in and you'll appreciate why Illy outshines a Starbucks any day.

Let me just say this place has a lot of great options to choose from. Unfortunately, I could not sample them all. I took the suggestion from one of the workers and chose the raspberry tart and I got an iced vanilla latte. Iced coffee is not normal go to. I've only had one other iced coffee that was so good that when it was finished I immediately wanted another one. This is one of those. Unfortunately I didn't have time for another. Raspberry tart was real good crust flaky. Great raspberry taste..

This place must be a locals favorite because the line was long and the store was busy! The menu and pastries options were plenty. There's even cocktail espresso drinks. I ordered a decaf iced lavender cafe latte. The coffee wasn't as strong as I'm use to, but nonetheless pretty good. Not sure if their syrups are homemade. There were also milk alternatives like oat and almond. The pastries consists of donuts, bread, croissants and etc. They all look yummy! But didn't try it this go around. I will the next time though. Overall, it's still a decent place to get your coffee fixed.

Very slow, 2000 questions and finally your expresso ! That doesn't taste like an Italian expresso ! Should change their name !

She made recommendations and was so attentive and funny. Hubby was between 3 different meals but went with the Hanger steak special. It came with a potato knish, perfectly cooked asparagus, in a burblanque sauce. He said it was one of the best meals he ever had and it was cooked medium rare as he requested. He also had a perfect manhattan. I wasn't super hungry, so I went for the salmon poor boy. It was crunchy and delicious and the sauce was perfect. I had a Saint Germain spritzer which was light and refreshing. We couldn't leave without ordering beignets. They came with a chocolate and a vanilla sauces. Hubby got a coffee that came in a fun cup. The decor in the restaurant was so fun and made people feel welcome.

Starting with the service, the staff were attentive and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. While portion sizes were reasonable, several dishes lacked the creativity and seasoning needed to stand out. The mussels and French onion soup were highlights, but the escargot and rotisserie chicken were only average. For dessert, the Gateau Breton is fantastic and a standout! However, I would skip the beignets if you are expecting the traditional version. These are smaller with the consistency of a donut hole, and lack the light, pillowy texture typically associated with classic beignets.

However, I would not recommend the brownie and chocolate sundae dessert. The brownie and cookie were cold and hard, which made the dessert disappointing. On the positive side, the carrot cake was huge and definitely worth sharing -- easily enough for 3-4 people. The service was excellent as well. Our waiter was very attentive throughout the meal and made sure everything was taken care of. Overall, Second Street American delivers great food variety, strong service, and a family-friendly atmosphere, with just a few misses on dessert.

We weren't sure where the restaurant was located within the building so we stopped to ask where the Terrace a room was at a hostess stand where three women were working. They all stared at us like we had dropped from the sky and then one woman gestured down the hall. Except it wasn't down the hall. We were in fact at the Terrace Room hostess stand. Sort of an odd beginning. We were seated at a two top with one chair and a couch with huge pillows scattered all over that left no room to actually sit. Had to toss them to the center of the couch to squeeze in. The menus are giant in size so it's hard to lay them down on the small table. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We started off with a bourbon cocktail that included some candied ginger and was very refreshing. The server gave us each a small cube of bread and some butter. It was sort of comical how miserly they were with the bread. The menu offerings were sort of odd but we were able to watch what other tables ordered to make our selections. The entree prices are pretty hefty. We each got a Caesar Salad to start that was good. We both settled on the brisket sandwich (a July Fourth special) and one of us got the fries and the other a side of summer veggies that was squash & zucchini. The sandwich was okay but nothing grand for $21 and the veggie side caused us to both explode with laughter at how meager it was. C'mon folks, squash is dirt cheap so load it up. Absolutely ridiculous. Their wine selections were not super familiar to us and pricey but they give you an ample pour. The Inn itself is very beautiful and the night stars shimmering on the reflecting pool out front is very romantic. I'd recommend a drink at the bar and skipping the $200 dinner for two.
