I think the view alone pays for itself because just wow! We came here for my sister's birthday and tried to plan it so we could also see the fireworks that Disney puts on. It was a perfect view of it! For drinks, I got the Golden Sunset and it came in this neat pineapple cup and was absolutely delicious. It had chunks of pineapple and it wasn't overly sweet to me. Another member of our party got the whiskey flight and I got to try a couple of sips and they were fantastic. They also came with some chocolates to pair with it. My sister got the Lychee Martini and she said that it was pretty good. Our server was absolutely amazing and helped us pick out some of our dishes and gave us some information I'll get to later in this. We started with the Shishito and Sakana Fritters. The shishito had this very flavorful sauce it came with. My sister started talking about how they were spicy but I was completely fine. Come to find out our server said that about 1/8 peppers are spicy so I just got lucky I guess . The Fritters were very light and not fishy at all if you are like me and stick to the non-fishy seafood. The sticky ribs were recommended and were also delicious. The bao buns were the only thing I wasn't impressed with. The meat was a little fatty for my liking. The roll we got, Gyu No Kani was soooooo good! It was again not really fishy despite having crab. The seared beef was the main taste I got from it but it was overall a nice balance. Will definitely come back to try the other rolls. read more

Genuinely weak. 4 tables and a dozen people at the bar. It's been 2 hours and still haven't completed our food order. It's small portions and pricey. Outside of the bartender none of the staff have a clue. We put in for a reservation for 8:15 and waited 45 minutes for it. At 8:15 we were told it's not actually a "guaranteed reservation" but they could "guarantee 9:00". What?!? We walked past the 4 occupied tables and sat at the bar instead. 1:15 minutes later still not done and candidly still hungry but wary of ordering anything else. They're understaffed is my read but don't want to admit it. Not necessarily their fault though they are at a premium property. Just don't make their problems your problem. Poor communications, weak management and long lags. read more

Amazing food but very slow and lacking service. Gorgeous rooftop with nice views. Small tables and food came out before we had any utensils or soy sauce. Booked a table for a special occasion and we were sat at a tiny cramped table by the exit door. They also brought our champagne out without a bucket and just sat it on the table: I guess coming from nyc and working 21 years in service my expectations were higher. This place definitely has potential if they can get the staffing kinks (and seating) worked out. The hotel itself is gorgeous and I liked the champagne and tequila selection. The food was on point but they really don't course anything. Next time I would just order apps before ordering entrees to insure the timing; overall a decent $400 meal for Orlando read more

This relatively new restaurant is over-the-top excellent and is a new found favorite. Everything is tailored for each audience, individual... from the (very uniquely made, served) craft cocktails, to the food, to the experience. The ambiance is perfect and the service is second-to-none. wow! our final night in orlando and what a way to end it off... we were lucky enough to have illume featured as the rooftop restaurant within our hotel, the brand new JW marriott in bonnet creek. the service was emasculate, the vibes and views were STUNNING and our dishes were amazing. to start we snacked on some miso soup and edamame while we played to cards and just relaxed and took in the views. me and my sad ordered some yellowtail and regular tuna sashimi to begin which was garnished incredibly. the taste was on point although i'm no sushi expert i thought it was fantastic. my mom got the beef skewers with the regular peanut sauce which she said was very tender and delicious. we then were guided by our waiter to select the dragon's breath. again....so, so good and not to mention how fantastic everything was plated. the food wasn't only amazing but so was our waiter, brad. brad was incredibly respectful and nice. he pretty much ordered for us as we described to him our experience with sushi and he told us what we should try as sushi noobs. you could tell he knew the menu super well which was very helpful. don't like sushi? make a sunset reservation and have a drink on the patio...it's worth the drive. i promise. read more

So we went for cocktails on this rooftop bar...illume after dinner. We sat down & ordered drinks. After we got our drinks, we were told that we had to move because this section was reserved. So we moved to a different location and after minutes of sitting there we were told that we had to move again!WTH? I think we should have been informed of where we could sit so we weren't bouncing around as if we were playing musical chairs! We decided to leave...very embarrassing! We did not finish or enjoy our drinks due to the unprofessional display from the manager. The bar is beautiful but not enough to ever return or deal with them having a lack of communication. We had wanted to come here since we booked this trip for my birthday. Recommendation from a couple friends. So as soon as we checked in we kept checking for someone to show up at the reservation desk. 6PM Friday rolls around and they told us no reservations were available due to be at full capacity. The hostess told us to check back Saturday as they don't release seating for outside till the day of. Which was totally fine as it was a new restaurant. So we came back the next day and the hostess said they could get us in at 830PM outside. Which was perfect we could see the fireworks from Disney. We arrived at 830 and we were sent up to the 9th floor and we checked in with the second hostess. She greeted us very nice and showed us to our table. Table was not out and I asked, we requested to be outside. She stated they were fully booked and not able to accommodate outside. I told her we were specifically told we would have outside. She stated it could not be done. We sat at the table they provided which was in between the bar and sushi bar. Erin came and greeted us and was very nice. Explained how everything worked and it was perfect. She explained if we wanted to go outside for the firework show it was fine and she would know we went outside. She offered great recommendations for drinks and appetizers. Sushi was ok very overpriced not the quality I would of thought for a sushi roll being $32. Maybe it would of been a different experience if we had been outside not entirely sure. Wouldn't recommend to anyone else. Also included photos of the tables outside that were never sat. read more

I was looking forward to dining here for a while now and unfortunately it was a complete disappointment. Arrived at 8:45 on a Friday and I've actually never seen such a confused host stand. We got a drink and waited but after 25 mins I found a host in the dining room to us get seated. Zero management seen until much later in the night. Once seated it's hard to find a table you'd actually like, we were tucked behind a pillar. Lighting in the restaurant is completely off, bright LED's ruin the ambiance. The first bottle of sake I ordered wasn't available followed by their suggestion that I was told wasn't unfiltered, it actually was. The first app that came out, watermelon and crab tasted off and had to return that. The substitute bao's we ordered arrived after the meal... the sashimi was actually good and a great value with nice pieces of otoro All unfortunate because the restaurant has so much potential. The outdoor terrace is gorgeous but half of it was dark the other half high beams, no music, no tables set up, no servers. Our server was great though, he really tired his best to fix the situation with zero management help. We still left him a 25% gratuity because I felt bad for his situation there. One of the best meals that we have had in a long, long time! The food was fantastic and our waiter Brad was phenomenal! We started with the slurpuff with shrimp while our son had the chicken skewers with rice. We finished up with the oki roll and the gyu no kani which were both amazing! I was excited to be here because I'd heard some great things about this place, but what I got exceeded any and all expectations thanks to our bartender, Roberto! Apparently when we came they had just gotten some new menu items, wagyu and toro, and I cant remember the name of the roll I got but Roberto suggested we replace it with wagyu and have some and toro nigiri on the side and that was the best decision I think I've ever made in my life. I took a pal here for a benchmark birthday celebration. We were sat immediately at an amazing table along the glass with a great view of Disney fireworks. As others have mentioned, this view is tough to beat in Orlando. The waiter must have gone to some kind of world class front-of-house training school because this dude had it together. He was prompt and super courteous. He also had a very welcoming personality and was attentive without being invasive. Kudos my man. I had been here one other time and it was great then. This time was no exception. I knew I wanted the seafood soup for a starter and then told the waiter to have the chef deliver us flavor bombs of his choosing until we were full. Best. Decision. Ever. We had a couple of rolls for starters and they were damn good. After a drink and a bit they chef brought out a platter with about 10 different things on it including some sashimi, crab (not krab) topped roll, and a wagyu topped roll. My man explained everything he had done in excruciating detail. I could tell this guy was passionate about his profession and proud of his craft. The display was beautiful. The flavors were amazing. After that, we were both stuffed and they still brought out a dessert on the house for my pal's bday. That was delicious as well. As others mentioned, the price tag is on the expensive side but to me, the taste won out in the flavor/cost ratio. I'll 100% go back next time I'm in the area.
