I came here on a Wednesday night around 6:45pm without a reservation and was told to join a couple already in line and given an estimate of 15-20 minutes. We ended up waiting closer to 45 because of folks enjoying their food and folks with reservations getting seated first (understandably).
When it finally came to our turn to be seated I was very peeved at being deceived (this 15-20 minute estimate was given to everyone who poked their head in), but those ill feelings dissipated once the food came out.
Drinks: Aperol spritz and Rossini. Both pretty tasty. They also had tap water in a bottle, which was a huge plus for us Americans.
Appetizers: Bruschetta and antipasto Classico. The antipasto plate was good (probably could've replaced the spicy crackers with another cracker or another cheese). The real star was the bruschetta. I usually don't order this because tomatoes on bread doesn't sound too exciting to me but when I tell you this was the best bruschetta I've ever had. I don't know what Italian magic they did to this dish but the tomatoes were bursting with flavor, complementing the toast perfectly. The tomatoes kept falling off the bread vessel but they were so good I just picked them off the plate. So good.
Entrees: Spaghetti alle vongole and tagliatelle bolognese. The spaghetti was good but not the best I've had. The bolognese though! I'm telling you, the tomatoes they use must be grown from magical soil or something. I've had a lot of bolognese in my time but there was way more depth to this sauce and more richness to the tomatoes than I have ever tasted in other meat sauces.
Dessert: Tiramisu. Probably the best I've ever had. We split this and it was enough for the two of us. No notes, it was perfect.
Highly recommend this place and getting a reservation if you decide to come (looks like they don't have a website up and running yet so either call or stop in to make one). And don't be mad if you end up waiting longer than they estimate--it's absolutely worth the wait. read more
