    Chicken parm
    Tori N.

My husband and I visited Il Radicchio for the first time the other night and had a nice time. It's a very small restaurant, probably 15 tables max, but it was full on a Saturday night with a line waiting that moved quickly. It's a cozy place, but the tables for 2 are quite small if you're against the wall...small enough that you don't feel like you have enough space for all the items on the table. My husband and I sat down with two menus and a wine menu, and before we even spoke with a waiter someone came by and picked up the wine menu off the table...which was odd because we planned to order a bottle of wine. We noticed other tables had bread but we were never brought or offered any. We were a little bit ignored but not to the point that it was rude. We ordered the prosciutto wrapped scallops, caprese with prosciutto, the chicken parm, and a make your own pasta. All of the food tasted good, I liked that the chicken parm is grilled instead of breaded, it gave it a nice twist on a classic. My husband didn't think his pasta was cooked well, he thought it was a little overdone, but not bad enough to send it back. Overall it was a fine dinner, we agreed if we were craving Italian food we would go there, but wouldn't actively choose to go on a random day.

It was a hot day, a very hot day. We walked into Il Radicchio sweaty and hungry, and were met immediately with open seats and cold ice water (fantastic service right in the door). The menu provided a unique challenge of being too customizable, despite this struggle we landed on trying the ravioli and making a cheese calzone with both pesto and red sauce to dip. We were blown away by the high quality flavor and fantastic presentation. I am already a huge ravioli fan in general but the mushroom ragu sauce paired so nicely with the caramelized onions and goat cheese, I think I could've eaten a bucket of this. A simple cheese calzone may sound silly, but dipping it into the house pesto and red sauce was an out worldly experience (highly recommend). Comfortable vibes with outdoor seating too, although not on a hot day in my opinion. Easy to miss if you're walking by but once you know it's there you kinda know you'll be coming back.

It was packed on a Thursday night, but once the waiter stopped by, our food was out promptly! Good place to stop by for your standard Italian American fair. the salad was a perfect appetizer for me to split with another person to get some greens in. The artichoke ravioli was exactly what I wanted with a nice mushroom sauce that I finished off with the complementary bread. I got a plain calzone, but they have build your own calzones and pizza where you can add whatever you want, which is a nice option. I asked for two sides sauces and they were very generous with a side of marinara sauce and pesto. They were able to accommodate a larger group or two, but would recommend for smaller parties because there aren't too many tables, it's a cozy place but didn't feel too crowded. I will return next time I'm craving Italian!

    Amazing lasagna

It's been a few years and unfortunately I don't think this is a spot for pasta anymore. We came in on a Friday night and the inside wasn't packed at 7. We got smushed next to two other two top tables- I get wanting to save larger tables for other large groups but it's super uncomfortable to be sitting hands distance away in a small back corner when half the rest of the restaurant is empty. Bruschetta is still good but bread basket got smaller. As mentioned, the all you can eat pasta is a rip off- might as well go to Olive Garden. You get all you can eat noodles, which we all know a box of is about 2$ at the store. The least they could do is give 50% off each extra sauce you order to make it slightly worth it. The spaghetti and meatball is just two meatballs cut in half to make it seem like it's 4. Pasta quality was good but meatballs were very grey and grainy. The biggest let down is the lasagna changed completely- while it appears larger, the sauce they use now is completely different than the one we loved from 2017-2022. It had chunks of celery and carrots and just was not good. Maybe a spot to grab pizza from still but definitely no longer a place I'd crave pasta from.

    Penne with bolognese

Got takeout which was easy to order online. I really like their concept of the build your own pasta! I got penne with bolognese. I've been trying to find an authentic bolognese in nova (where there's less tomato) and have been struggling to find one. This is still pretty tomato-y but it's getting closer to what I've been looking for! I would go back to try another one of their sauces

I've strolled by here enough to glimpse the faux candle light flickering off the wine glasses of a merry group of 4 dining on the outdoor patio. It looked warm & inviting. I ordered the chicken parm ($20) + bruschetta ($11). I spotted the all you can eat pasta and suggested it to my partner who was famished. My food was basic and filling. Just as I expected for the price point. What leads me to the poor review is a mixture of their misleading menu + nonchalant attitude of server. When I spotted the "all you can eat pasta", my partner was suspicious, too good to be true. We hailed our server and asked for clarification - crystal clear- it was all you can eat. When my partner tried to flag for his 2nd filling of pasta - woopty do- you're charged for the sauce. We called the server and he backtracks "oh it says on the menu only the noodle". We ask him to point out to us where on the menu it's written---and he searches and says - it's not there. No acknowledgment of the misinformation let alone an apology. I still tipped out of societal pressures. Yes, I can afford the sauce. I want to say it's the principle. But it's more than that. My working poor immigrant parents hated dining out because of all the huge hidden costs + small unsaid cultural etiquettes. I think we went to Chili's twice a year MAX. Be forthcoming with your menu. And don't ever try to make people feel stupid for not deciphering the cryptic code in which you + your menu speaks.

We came here around 530 on a Friday and were able to get a table with no problem despite it being a small restaurant. The bread is free and great but the real crazy part about this place is the all-you-can-eat pasta. You can get the pasta refills but the sauce will cost you. The radicchio e salsiccia and carbonara was solid. The best one was the Alfredo pesto. You are not beating the price for decent pasta anywhere, I would definitely go back.

    Calamari Grigliati

Talk about a delicious and authentic local Italian spot! I came here to celebrate my birthday on a Friday evening and had the best dinner and dining experience. We started off with the insalate de mele and it was fresh with perfectly ripe grapes and apples topped with a subtle and refreshing Prosecco dressing which I loved. Next we ordered the calamari which was chewier than I expected but was served over a bed of arugula and white beans that added a delicious savory flavor. Then, we split a 12" pizza with fresh mozzarella, olives, mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes and a penne salmone. Both were excellent but wow...the penne salmone was my absolute favorite. I could eat it everyday! The food already makes ill radicchio one of the best Italian spots in the DMV, but the indoor ambience of the restaurant adds such charm. We got a little table for two perched in the windowsill and we enjoyed having our own private nook and the cute decor and painting of chickens on the wall. Would highly recommend for a memorable and authentic dining experience!

    Caprese
    Will M.

Charming tiny spot for authentic Italian food. Extensive red wine list. Bread was a good starter on the house. You'll have olive oil and red peppers ready at your table. Highly recommend the caprese if you crave mozzarella like I do. Spaghetti and meatballs hit the spot. Meatballs were heavy and the melted cheese was a nice complement. Tomato sauce was hearty and had little pieces of meat in it. Lobster ravioli had delicious Smokey flavors. The vodka sauce complimented it well. Maybe went a little too far with the pecorino Romano cheese. Good prices for high quality Italian in Arlington.

    Milanese di Pollo
    Cynthia Y.

It's a nice little hidden gem. Like other Italian Restaurants, they serve bread with olive oil, red pepper flakes, pepper, salt, and parmesan. We really enjoy their Milanese di Pollo dish. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is friendly. Service is a bit slow, probably because it's a small restaurant. As long as you're not in a hurry/starving I think it's fine. There is parking behind the restaurant and parallel street parking nearby (would need to check day/time to see if it's free or need to pay though). Definitely a chill little dinner date spot.

Toward the end of the meal, I was able to choose a complimentary dessert, and went for my server's recommendation, the pistachio cake. A Modo Mio offers many food specials. For example, on Tuesdays, that's when we stopped there for…read moredinner, all their pasta dishes are 1/2 price. However, given that they ranked 32nd among this country's top 50 Pizza restaurants, I had to order a pizza. And I'll get to my pizza after I discuss some other things, because it all plays together. Also, during my visit, I kept drawing comparisons between this place and Pupatella, a local Neapolitan pizza juggernaut. The Big Question to answer is why A Modo Mio got a spot on the Top 50 while Pupatella didn't even make the cut. Access is easy, and parking is good. There are lots of spaces that wrap around the restaurant. That's in contrast to Pupatell, which has limited parking and where I always wind up using the Safeway lot across the street. The restaurant is clean and spacious, with plenty of comfortable seating. It also has a long, well-stocked bar where you can sit to enjoy a beverage or a meal. Pupatella doesn't have any of that. When you arrive, you're greeted by a host who shows you to your seat. A very short while later, a waiter shows up and does all the things waiters do. At Pupatella, you wait in line to place your order, then find an open table. TLDR: Your dining experience, outside of the food, is much more civilized and relaxing at A Modo Mio. The pie that earned their 32 out of 50 ranking was the Sicilia. But I ordered a 12" Casertana because I'm not crazy about eggplant and like sausage. The pie arrived a short while later, piping hot and loaded with sausage. The taste was sublime and delicious. My only complaint was that the basil was added before baking, and I prefer that herb when it's not reduced to ash. So back to The Big Question, is the A Modo Mio pizza *that* much better than Pupatella that it earned a spot amongst the Top 50 while the other one didn't even make the cut? Frankly, it's not. It is good pizza... possibly great pizza. But that's also true of the other place. What sets A Modo Mio apart from that other place, and the answer to the Big Question, is that the criteria for generating the Top 50 list included more than the pizza. It also took into account: - Hospitality and Service - Ambiance - Beverage Program. Beyond the pizza, A Modo Mio has those things in abundance, while the other place pretty much has none. TLDR: Comparing pizzas side by side, the two places are on par. However, if you take into account the entire dining experience, you will be much happier with your pizza here, as opposed to that other place or most other pizza restaurants in the DMV area.

There's so much parking in this area and they have indoor and outdoor seating. One of the things I really liked is that they seem to have specials three or four days a week if I remember correctly, I think Mondays are half off wine bottles. Tuesdays are 30% off the menu or maybe that was happy hour Monday through Friday and then Wednesdays is half off pizzas and then Thursdays was a sale on cocktails. One of the disappointing things right off the bat was that they took my 7:30 PM reservation and even texted me at 7 PM to make sure I was still coming at 7:30 but nobody ever mentioned that they would close the kitchen promptly at 8 PM, which meant my New Year's Eve dinner was extremely rushed. By 745 I already had to put in my drinks, appetizer, entrées, and desserts. Had I known that they were going to close the kitchen at 8 PM I either would have gone to another place or asked to change my reservation for an earlier time. At 8 PM most of the restaurant was empty, but they still had about four tables, including ours still filled along with two or three folks at the bar. Another thing to note is that they will automatically add 20% gratuity to your bill so please keep that in mind. As far as the food goes, I will say that the pizzas were really good and a small pizza comes with four big slices and a large pizza comes with eight big slices. Personally, I really enjoyed the dough and it was very flavorful, but slightly undercooked. They are known for their Neapolitan style pizzas, and it really shine through. I also got the opportunity to try the lasagna Bolognese, which came sizzling and what seemed to be a mini cast-iron pot. It was evident that this was pre-cooked though and reheated in this pot/pan but what was disappointing was that the bottom layers were sizzling hot but the top layers were room temperature and unfortunately, since the kitchen was closed, I didn't have the opportunity to get that taken care of. I would definitely come back and give them a shot especially because they have weekly deals, but it was truly a disappointment that they took a 730 reservation weeks ago, knowing that they intended on closing at 8 PM. As we were leaving, we got the opportunity to meet one of the restaurant partners and they were so kind; it's evident that this restaurant has regulars and I look forward to my next visit and seeing what it's like when I have more time to eat and enjoy.

Fun and lively atmosphere, staff is super friendly, and the menu has a great variety of food items for all different tastes. There's definitely something for everyone! Their bar menu is awesome! Amazing selection of beer and creative cocktails. Food was delicious, drinks were excellent, and we loved the vibe. We will definitely be back the next time we visit the area.

On Mondays and Tuesdays they host Trivia. On Saturday nights they do karaoke. There's also two dart boards as well. It's a place you can go and vibe and wind down after a day at work. I usually am a regular as I go on Tuesdays for Trivia night. I like that the tables have QR codes codes so you can order directly from the table on your phone. Of course if you prefer the old-fashioned way, you can ways go to the cash register by the bar and place and order. I've had the pizza before and it rocks! My go-to is the pepperoni pizza or sometimes if the pizza of the month sounds good I'll get a few slices of that. The standard pizza is very NY-style. But they also have Detroit style which is pretty great as well. I've also tried the nachos, pretzel, French fries, chicken park sub, and the chicken tenders. But I gotta say I really enjoy the pizza at Quincy Hall the most!

Against that yardstick, Portofino was really rather decent offering excellent service and fare that while not "Nonna caliber" was surprisingly good. While I wasn't thrilled about being hit with a pasta upcharge on a veal dish which in the Italian canon must come with pasta, larceny was otherwise kept to a minimum. For a decent meal in a pinch, Portofino works.

The menu discusses the chef's career in Italy before he came to the U.S. Many of the dishes were supposed to be from northern Italy. I'm not a fan of creamy sauces or bechamel. I guess my ancestors were tomato and garlic eaters from the south. We started with smoked salmon which had been bathed in Aperol. Tasty. Then a lovely salad with pears, arugula and blue cheese. The segundo was pasta dish that was ok. Wasn't hot enough when it arrived and the lemon garlic sauce with clams, shrimp and scallops was, in the words of my wife, pretty boring. The service was great and they had a pretty good crowd for a Wednesday night. The Christmas music did not add my enjoyment of the meal.
