    Seafood spaghetti

On our first night to Rome, we ate at Il Padellaccio 2 because of the close proximity to our airbnb. We were seated immediately and we were able to sit outside. The weather was nice and cool, however, the loud traffic did not make the dinner romantic. Service was quick. They had an English menu, so it was easy to order. Our waiter spoke some, but not a lot of English, so we just pointed to what we wanted from the menu. We ordered the antipasto, seafood spaghetti and carbonara. The waiter brought out the antipasto rather quickly which was great because it took a bit of time before our entrees came out. The antipasto came with some olives, dried meats, and some arugula. I enjoyed the meat that taste like bologna surprisingly. Beware, the olives had pits. We did not know this when we bit into our olives and were met with a surprise. The seafood spaghetti was average. It came with a fair amount of shrimp, calamari, mussels, and clams. However, the red sauce that it was tossed in was ok. I had a bit of hubster's carbonara and it was alright. Nothing to write home about. A little bit too salty for my taste. A week later, I asked him what he thought of his pasta and it was not memorable for him. He thought he had a red sauce pasta... Overall, dinner was average/ok and a little entertaining as there were people coming off the street to try and sell you gaudy rings and play an accordion for money. They brought out slices of watermelon at the end of dinner which was nice.

I honestly enjoyed this place - I believe it was owner outside but who ever he was greeted my mom and I with the traditional cheek kiss. We enjoyed it so much we came here two days in a round - dined for lunch and dined for dinner. Unfortunately I didn't enter the place since most of seating was outside especially since the weather for perfect. The only thing I didn't like were hustlers and beggers hanging around and asking for money as we were eating - let me offer you money for playing music; don't come asking me since u decided to play the music near me. Other than then that - the food was wonderful and they also give you refreshing watermelon at the end of your meal for no charge. Happy eating!!!

Pretty good pizza. Close to our hotel. Slow service but friendly. Gelato close by for dessert

Went here for lunch and got us some good pasta. It wasn't my absolute favorite, but the price was really good. To me, it just seemed average. Supplí was amazing though.. so I recommend that. Other than that, glad I tried it out, but probably won't go again.

This place has to be by far the BEST authentic Italian food I've ever eaten. The owner greets everyone as they walk by or to sit and eat. The Food! Its absolutely AMAZING!! I would recommend it to everyone. I have eaten here 4 times during my 6day vacation here in Rome.

It's a comfy place to eat. The waiters are nice and fast. The carbonara is rich and thick. The pasta al dente perfectly. The pancetta pieces are salty and fatty. It's a heavy meal but it is delicious. The burrata is perfect to share and delicious.

When we arrived on a late afternoon, we waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. To start off, we got the Limoncello Spritz (€10) and Aperol Spritz (€10), which were refreshing. For our pasta, we ordered the Fettuccine with Oxtail (€18) and Carbonara (€17). We also wanted to order two more Secondi dishes, but the waiter warned us that the pasta is filling. After we finished the pasta, we did still order the Rabbit (€19) because it wasn't something we usually see on the menu. For the carbonara, the flavor was delicious but not really my favorite pasta shape. It was also quite al dente with a chewy texture. I have to say that the oxtail was spectacular though with its juicy and tender meat sauce. While the rabbit was nice to try once, it was a bit dry with minimal meat. Overall, good spot but nothing worth waiting too long for. Also, I'd stick to the pasta here as it's all handmade. You even see them handrolling them inside. Note that they also charge €2 per person for service fee already.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

Great first meal in Rome!…read more I loved my artichoke pasta dish with bacon, it was a daily special. The amaretto dessert was delicious! Carbonara was super al dente. Seafood risotto was fresh. Grilled radicchio was like stir fried. Dinner for 3 for 77 euros, impressively busy for a Tuesday night. Friendly staff, easy for English speakers. :)
