Me and my friends found this restaurant through Yelp in the hopes of finally trying some decent Italian food at affordable prices. We were not disappointed. We were 7 people plus a baby. At first I asked for a table for 7, when the staff saw we were actually 8 they promptly cleaned up a larger table that was just freed and moved us there. They were very polite and made a great first impression. We tried several pizzas, pastas and the lasagna. It was very good, so we ordered more pizzas and pastas even though we weren't really hungry anymore. We spent two days in Rome and this was the best restaurant we visited, so we figured we might as well enjoy it as much as we can. read more

Found this place thanks to yelp! Full of locals, which is a great sign. My boyfriend and I ordered the fried artichokes, which were perfect (flaky and not too greasy). We then split a pizza with prosciutto and mushrooms. The pizza was to die for! Crisp with the right amount if sauce and toppings. Wish we ordered more, but we only stopped for a quick lunch. Outside they had articles about multiple celebrities who had eaten there (Sharon Stone and Raphael Nadal). Great choice! read more

I ate here twice this week, because an Irish friend loves how the staff laughs at his bad jokes. Pretty great food, truffle pizza and pastas were good. Pizza was kind of soggy and watery. They forgot to bring one of the first courses. Didn't notice any other americans eating their, just locals and one French couple who were the type that give the French a bad name with their arrogance and condescension. OK food, nice experience. Mussels were also good. Nothing monumental in terms of the dining experience. read more

THIS PLACE IS HEAVEN!!! After I ate the first bite, I knew this was going to be my favorite restaurant in all of Italy (at least between Rome, Florence, and Milan). Literally the best Italian food I've ever had in my life! And I promise I'm not exaggerating. It was also the most pleasant dining experience we had in Italy. The people here were nicer and provided better service than other Italian restaurants. They also had the best wine I had during my entire 2 week trip in Europe. It was a white wine that paired really well with our pasta dish. I wish I took a picture of the bottle so I could find that wine again. Linguini with clams- A simple dish, but they made it amazing. The sauce was phenomenal and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Beef tenderloin- OMG the meat was sooooooooo tender. I was actually surprised at how tender it was when I took the first bite. It's also really flavorful. The sauce was magical. I have to say the chefs here are some of the most talented chefs in the world. Forget Michelin star restaurants if you can get better food here for more affordable prices. I was so so sad that we didn't make it out here again. Honestly I would've been ecstatic to eat every single meal here rather than eat at another mediocre touristy restaurant. It's pretty hard to find really good restaurants in Rome unless you do a lot of research. Don't walk into random restaurants because they are just tourist traps with below average food. read more

I wanted to say so badly that I loved my experience at il Corallo given its rave reviews, but unfortunately have to say my experience there veered no more than average. I ordered the truffle pizza, and my friend got the truffle pasta, and at 14 euros each, the quality of the food did not reflect its mid-range price. We had high hopes given the strong aroma of truffles that arrived with our food, but sadly when we got to tasting, we discovered that the aroma was not infused with the pasta or pizza, and was in fact quite faint and hard to detect in taste. Very good fettucini with truffles even though the pictures on yelp were put up by the restaurant, so the real plate is not as good as shown. The deserts are delicious and apparently homemade. The cons is the owner lady (the one taking care of the checks and payments) who was super rude. Not even a "thank you" or a "goodbye". She made us feel like she didn't want tourists in her restaurant or something like that. Secondi courses are a little more expensive than the usual. read more

Stumbled across this little gem having tried to get into the restaurant next door (was fully booked). I am glad we did as this was a great little find. Managed to get a table on the street, although there were tables available inside too. Tables are fairly close together, which was quiet entertaining. Mix of locals and tourists seemed to be eating here. Wine was good and reasonably priced. The food was traditional and delicious. The portion sizes were vary generous! The service was very prompt and efficient! Definitely recommend a visit if passing. read more

Some of the best food and service I've had since being in Rome. I've only been in town for two weeks, but every time I have gone somewhere else the food and service just don't begin to compare. Don't just try the pizza, literally all of it has been amazing. This isn't a tourist stop, you'll find the locals coming as well, and everybody is treated like family. I have yet to see them try and recruit people to come eat there - as a rule of thumb, go where the Italians are waiting and you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend. read more

This place deserves the high Yelp ratings. The bruschetta was composed of flavorful bread perfectly toasted, the beef was flavorful and juicy, and the pizza con prosciutto was thin, flavorful and crispy. The panna cotta with fresh strawberries was so good, so smooth and light, we ordered another one with chocolate instead (we preferred the fresh strawberry version). Add a good glass of Chianti and it's a proper Italian night. Some standouts: We asked about the artichoke, since we wanted to try a classic Roman dish, but it's out of season so they didn't have it (despite other places having it). This speaks to the freshness of the ingredients here. The service is friendly and not too slow. The value is excellent here, so there's no reason to give this place anything less than five stars. read more

Was hungry as a bear and needed a good meal. I have learned that the best places to eat are buried in a back alley and hard to track down. This is a perfect example. Staff were friendly, prices were totally fair, and it was very possibly the best Italian meal I've ever eaten. The waitress even gave me a complimentary Limoncello drink after I finished. Il Corallo was our first dinner in Rome. It was only 2 mins walking from our apartment so we decided to check it out. When we first walked in, there wa s a group of guys in the back I'm assuming we're locals and we were seated on the other side of the restaurant. It was maybe 5pm. They noted that pizza wasn't available until 6, which was ok cause we didn't want pizza anyway. We ordered the mussels for an appetizer as well as the suppli. The suppli was good . The mussels portion was HUGE and only 12€ I believe. Amazing value. We then ordered cacio e Pepe and the carbonara. Cacio e Pepe translates into cheese and pepper. The pasta was served in a cheese bowl (very creative!) and was super rich. I couldn't finish it but it was good! The carbonara was good as well, with thick pieces of bacon sprinkled throughout. My boyfriend liked the carbonara better but also could t finish it because the sauce was so thick, creamy and rich. The pasta dishes were good and the dinner was pretty reasonably priced! Place was packed during lunch hours but it didn't take long for us to be seated. The food was delicious even though my friend noted that the eggs in the carbonara was more scrambled so you can really taste eggs instead of sauce. The zucchini flower appetizer was exceptional and some of the tastiest thing I had in Rome. read more

Want to feel like a local? Then eat here! The environment, people, and food were amazing! I had the fettuccine alla polpetta (meatball), so delicious! The house red and wine is great as well. Like most of Rome. Any place that makes homemade pasta is excellent. Their fettuccine, mushrooms, truffle and bacon is phenomenal. Their Pasena pizza is good but not as good as other pizza places in Rome which is why I have to give it 4 stars. And finally don't forget the house wine. It's affordable and hangover free. read more

I did not like my meal here AT ALL. I ordered a pasta in a Parmesan bowl in Venice and it was fantastic so I was so excited to get another one but this one was GROSS. i booked this restaurant on a whim after knowing of good reviews and being approached as i walked past it. saturday night dinner. do not recommend. way too much going on and despite booking we had to wait and then were shoved in between a bunch of tables in a cramped area. they try to provide good service but when it's so busy and you're allowing so many customers things just don't work and allot of things went wrong. we were given eggplant balls instead of eggplant parm. we were given only 2 sets of utensils for 3 people. you don't get plates so it's almost impossible to share dishes. also, the food was mediocre. nothing special. i didn't enjoy the cacio e pepe. the buratta was more like buffalo mozzarella. the (wrong) eggplant dish we received wasn't very good. overall i regret coming here. read more
