The very best Caio de Pepe in a Parmesan bowl! Excellent service, prices, selection, house wine!

I made it over here a handful of times during my study abroad, and I knew about it only through a local cousin of mine. Being close to Piazza Navona makes this place a very accessible and quiet spot at the same time. It has some outdoor seating year round that I would recommend over sitting in the darker dining rooms. We have tried a combination of the pizzas, pastas as well as meats and all are cooked excellent here. I don't think you could go wrong when it comes to food, but the variety is very appealing. The service is a bit off, even as us being Italian-Americans and speaking the language, they didn't seem to be on top of things here. However, the food is great and it is priced moderately, so I am sure you will enjoy it all. Buon Appetito. read more

Amazing food, high quality ingredients and fresh ingredients. They have an all a carte menu, but I suggest to concentrate on the daily menu - still plenty of options but the best you can get on the day. We actually went here twice, just because the food tastes amazing...my favourite of trying 3 main courses was the grilled sliced tuna, medium rare!!!!! Delicious. Highly recommended for lunch or dinner. The service was the best we've gotten in Italy so far and as a bonus, the server spoke English very well! The food was also very delicious! They have all the Roman specialties and if you don't see what you want on their extensive menu, doesn't hurt to ask! We were able to order squash blossom pizza with 4 cheeses and red sauce even though it wasn't on the menu. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside on the cobblestone street. This place was recommended by our airbnb host, and it did not disappoint. The spaghetti with clams was fantastic, with loads of clams and a wonderful clam flavor with every bite of pasta. I also tried the spaghetti carbonara, which was excellent. I recommend making a reservation and specifying outdoor if you want it so they can have the table set up. A large party arrived with a reservation after us, but had to wait for them to add more outdoor tables. We made a reservation for 7pm (just an hour or two prior) and noticed when we got there that all the outside tables had families with kids. They didn't have a highchair for us when we sat down but gave us one as son as another family left. read more

Hands down my favorite meal in Rome! We found this cute little restaurant walking around the curvy cobbled streets of Rome near the Bridge of Angels. Restaurant: tucked away in a side street, it is quite a lovely and intimate dining room that was simple but functional. Two dining areas are separated by a wall and the walls are decorated with wine bottles upon wine bottles. Service: amazing! We were greeted as we walked in the door and we were seated immediately. Our server gave us recommendations on wine and pasta dishes and checked in on us frequently. Food: I ordered the spaghetti carbonara and my husband ordered the spaghetti bolognese. Both were excellent and definitely the best pasta we had in Rome. The pasta was cooked to perfection, my sauce was creamy and coated the spaghetti with the perfect sauce to pasta ratio. I loved my dish but liked my husband's bolognese sauce even more than my own! It was a gorgeous red-orange and you could taste the freshness of the tomatoes and other ingredients used. We also split a bottle of wine at the recommendation of the owner and altogether our meal amounted to €50! Would love to revisit this restaurant if we return to Rome!! read more

Was seated next to an Italian couple enjoying a nice lunch. A great sign. The house Chianti was pretty good. We got eggplant to start. A little standard and a little overpriced but it was light and tasty and gone within moments. R got a seafood pasta which was delicious. Great delicate flavor. Eggy, seafood flavors, well balanced. I got the fettuccine with bacon, truffle and pepper. Except I think I got the bacon and pepper only. I didn't get the truffle hint. Although it could have been the lovely background flavor. The pasta was perfectly cooked and seasoned. None left. This was a lovely first meal in Rome. It felt real and the artichokes looked amazing on everyone's plates. Il Corrallo Our first meal in Rome was a lunch at Il Corallo. The restaurant has a number of specialties including a wide selection of fresh mushrooms and truffles. We tried one of their mushroom pizza's and a spaghetti that was covered in truffles. Needless to say both were excellent. Service was very attentive. We dined a bit early during our trip (12.30pm lunches and 7.00pm dinners) so reservations were never a problem. read more

Stopped by for dinner because of other yelp reviews. The restaurant was down a secluded street which was perfect since we were tired of the crowds in the city center. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara which was absolutely delicious. Decent portions, enough to make me absolutely full and with no take aways. The pizza my significant other ordered was decent. Not the best pizza we had (prosciutto and mushroom), but you can't really mess up pizza too bad either. It was just eh. He agreed my pasta was better. Prices for most pasta dishes were about 9-11€ And pizzas were about the same. We also ordered 2 medium beers for 5€ each which complimented our meal perfectly. Awesome place!! The best part is no one is on the street pulling you into the restaurant. This is how we happened to find it. Great service! Locals everywhere. People were having lunch and making their dinner reservations for the same night. That's a pretty good indication of how good it is. They slice you fresh prosciutto. Everything is authentic. When you think of European cuisine the obvious three countries come to mind (Italian, French, and Spanish). I haven't been to France or Spain quite yet but Italy definitely earns its reputation for their food and drink. After scouring yelp, trip advisor, friend recommendations this Gem was found and my God was I in for a treat. Setting: The commute to the restaurant is so romantic. You could easily find yourself falling in love with anyone you spot as you travel through century old alleys, cobblestone, and buildings. Restaurant itself has seating outdoors and inside that is intimate than small. Service: From my experiences dining at Italian households in America, I was expecting the same kind of warm, family type of service but throughout Italy this was rather void. This restaurant did have good service but i'm not sure if I can call it friendly. They were very accommodating nonetheless and food was served promptly. Food: I've never been more excited to talk about the food portion of a restaurant more than this place. One of the best dishes I've ever had in my life was the bowl of mussel we ordered. Upon initial impressions, we were served a large bowl with a pale yellow broth that settled on the bottom that had a beautiful aroma of white wine, garlic, and rosemary. When I took a bite of the mussel ironically it reminded me of the opposite tissue: Fat. The flavor, texture, and creaminess of the mussel had the same as the fatty bit of a bone in ribeye, I kid you not. Since then, we spent our entire european trip ordering this dish but there is no comparison. The cacio e pepe is a staple in rome and served with a cheese bowl. The pasta was decent but too much for one person to finish IMO. Drink: I definitely love to drink but in the area of wine, all i can tell apart is the color. They had a house white wine here "Frascati Superiore" at the cost of 13 euros: THE BEST WINE EVER. Previously wine tasted more or less dry, more or less bitter, and more or less expensive but this... this had the same viscosity of water, barely any dryness, and had a crisp, refreshing taste. This is what we all want in life: something so affordably delicious yet so elegant you think you'd be shelling off a lot more for it. I would happily spend $150+ for this bottle of wine. Overall: You have to stop by this restaurant when you visit a city so crowded with tourism. Traditional Italian charm with incomparable dishes with its rivals, you must go here. read more

Make sure you have reservations. We went with a party of 9, including 3 children about 11-13 years old. It was totally booked and very busy, but the service made us feel like we were the only guests in the restaurant. We ordered 1 bottle of red wine, 2 glasses of Chardonnay, 2 beers, 3 Sprites. Beers were well priced at 5 Euro. Wine prices averaged 18-22 Euro a bottle. My team had carpaccio di filetto con rucola e parmigiano (over priced at 18 Euro), artichoke, fried squid and shrimp, caprese salad with mozzarella, tomato and basil, capricciosa pizza with mushrooms and egg and spaghetti alla carbonara (bacon) and the spaghetti alla gricia con tatufo (truffle). The only dislike was the last dish because the truffle was very salty. The wines were really good and paired well. Just ask them to pair the wine for you when you order. read more

I went because the pizza pictures looked incredible, but the mushroom pizza I had was pretty bland. The crust was nice and thin, but they used fresh mushrooms, which released water when cooked, which made the crust mush. I also ordered fettuccine with fresh porcini mushrooms. This past week my boyfriend and I were in Rome and came here for dinner TWICE. Not only was the food amazing but the service and overall atmosphere was what brought us back. Delicious pizza, pasta, wine and tiramisu all at a great price. I recommend making a reservation on the weekends but it is worth the wait if you don't make one. The bruschetta was amazing and light. Words could not describe the flavor of the pizza. I don't think I could have another slice after this place. The pizza was thin and light yet filling. We were not uncomfortably stuff to walk around Roma. The menu had variety for people who want to try anything besides pizza. My husband and I were famished after a hectic day at St. Peter's Basilica and being herded like cattle through the Sistine Chapel when we came upon Il Corallo! We were seated instantly and quickly ordered a pizza with burrata and fresh basil and the fettuccine alla bolognese. The food came so quickly and it was DELICIOUS. I was looking forward to trying cacio e pepe for the first time at this place. Sadly, it was not good at all. I'm talking worse than Italian chain restaurants in America. The pasta came as linguini instead of spaghetti. I wish the server had asked my preferences as I wanted spaghetti, but wasn't given an option. The Parmesan bowl definitely tasted premade, maybe a a few days before hand? It also had a burnt taste to it that I did not care for. I didn't even bother taking my leftovers. The was my first dinner in Italy and did not disappoint! Came in on a Thursday night, early, from the jet lag, and were the only table, at 7:30 when I was leaving there was a line out the door. Superb food and service. One primo, one secondo and appetizer and a glass of wine was just about 40€ you can't beat that! We ordered the famous Roman pasta cacio e pepe and the lamb. Did not disappoint!! For appetizer we got fried zucchini flowers. It was good but heavy on the batter (also included cheese and possibly anchovies?) Which was good but a very heavy appetizer. This place is amazing - considered going here multiple times even though we were only in town for a couple days. This is the real deal guys. Super authentic AND DELICIOUS Italian pasta, the pasta is HANDMADE, It took a bit of time for our order to be prepared, but man was it worth it. We the Carbonara pasta, and the Cacio e Pepe We really loved both pasta dishes since they were perfectly al dente. The Cacio e Pepe, together with the deliciously tasty white sauce, was also amazing. It was super tasty and balanced the handmade pasta very well. The carbonara didn't have a ton of meat by volume, but it was spread out well and very filling due to the nature of the ingredients. Super fresh bacon slightly crunchy bacon on the carbonara, as well. My only displeasure was that we ordered house wine and were were brought a 750mL bottle of it, which somehow ended up costing 24 euro, when the menu explicitly said 14 euro. read more

I was traveling alone so they had no problem accommodating me when I walked in. I had some pasta, pizza, and a dessert. All of the food tasted great. Our Christmas Eve dinner at Il Corallo was a highlight of our time in Rome. After the restaurant we'd made reservations at months ago turned us away (?!?!), we wandered the streets trying to find a place that could seat six people and wasn't jammed with tourists. Il Corallo was quite full, but we asked the host if he could seat us. Not only did he say he'd find us a table, but he gave us glasses of prosecco to drink in the street while we waited for five minutes! Amazing. We already knew it was going to be a good night, but we had no idea how good. The highlights: pasta with fresh truffles, grilled vegetables, burrata, penne alla arrabiatta. It was all SO good, and so fresh. The wine list was comprehensive (which made my dad happy!) and everything we drank was delicious. I had an Aperol spritz, too, which I loved. The service was excellent and the waiters were so friendly, you'd have thought we made reservations ages ago - rather than just wandering in off the street. We felt well taken care of, left stuffed, and would go back again in a heartbeat. This place is a total gem. read more

I had a pizza with proscuitto, the proscuitto was a bit too salty for my taste but the rest of the pizza was delicious. My hubby ordered the fettuchini carbonara which was delicious!
