I love how crispy the tortilla on the outside was and how it had the perfect ratio of cheese, egg, avocado, bacon, and chipotle sauce on the inside. Breakfast is served all day (6am-4pm on weekdays) which is a great bonus. There were a lot of Doordash orders getting picked up, but I waited around 10-15 minutes for my burrito to be ready on a Thursday at around 10am (I did come with a group of people though so that probably added to the wait time). I found the staff to be very friendly and personable which added to my experience. One thing to note is that this place is a grab n go spot: the inside of the store is blocked off so there's no place to sit in. So I raced over to the location on Sac and Battery, and ordered a scrambled egg, no cheese, but with onions and bacon, no butter. The owner looked at me, and could tell I was being very particular about what I wanted and what I did not want, so he tastefully went over the ingredients and got my thumbs up as he sensed dietary restrictions. The establishment is a hole in the wall - but the workers are working like busy bees. Service VERY attentive and food was piping hot, and portion size was just right, if not wanting a tad more. I ordered the Chipotle Breakfast Burrito (CBB) through door dash to minimize my wait time. I arrived and there were a number of people hanging outside. My burrito was ready when I arrived, in the estimated timeframe. Interestingly, at least in the AM time during the work week, they block off the front entrance. It really functions as a take out spot. The people were friendly and helpful. I rushed back to my office to unveil the delectable CBB. I added potatoes and some crispy bacon for texture. With the additions, the price was still reasonable. I was thrilled to see the grill marks on the tortilla. And while the image I took of the guts doesn't show, some care when into executing and the CBB is well layered. Best breakfast burrito in the city? Would say it's my new favorite in Fidi vicinity. This place makes a very solid breakfast burrito! The chipotle burrito with added bacon and avocado is my go-to and it never lets me down. Their portions are quite generous in general, but they are especially liberal with the yummy chipotle sauce. The avocado is always fresh, the bacon is perfectly crispy, and the tortilla is grilled just right, warm with a hint of char that adds a nice edge to the flavor profile. I'm not the biggest egg fan in general so I don't have much praise to offer in that department. I've tried both the regular and the egg white only versions which are both very fluffy, but it's just too much egg for me overall and tastes a bit artificial. The chipotle sauce is by far my favorite part and honestly why I keep crawling back for more. Even though the egg situation isn't perfect, I would say that this breakfast burrito is still one of the top three in the city. I arrived around 9am and it the entrance was pretty crowded with delivery workers but despite that the owner was super attentive and spotted me pretty quickly to ask me for my order. It was my first time stopping by so I was pretty lost but the owner was really patient and gave me a recommendation. After I ordered the owner gave me a wait time estimate which is something I always appreciate. I got the chipotle burrito with bacon and avocado as recommended. The burrito came out fresh off the grill and everything about it is perfect. It was fresh, wrapped perfectly, and the ingredients were cooked perfectly and proportioned well with each other. As soon as I pulled up, I said my name and I was on my way. Which was good since there's not really parking in the area and you'll be in a loading zone. Honestly wished I ate it on the spot as I'm sure it would've been crispy right off the press but I had to enjoy it in line as I wait for my reservation. Wrapped in foil, it preserved the warmth of the ingredients however softed the crispy indents of the grill which is what I was looking forward to. Came here since it was close to our hotel and the reviews looked promising! The line was pretty long when we got here. There is no indoor seating. We didn't know how to order but the staff member just said to tell him what we wanted so we did so and he rang us up. We had to wait a long time just in the sidewalk for our one burrito to share and 2 vanilla lattes. They had a lot of to go orders so be mindful of that if you go. The staff member taking and giving out orders was loud, rushing, and slightly rude but it was fine. The coffee was great and the avocado burrito was fantastic! Can't believe I've passed by this cafe numerous of times on my way to work but have never stopped by. I always thought they only served coffee and donuts, which is something that I am not a big fan of for breakfast. I decided to do a food crawl on a Saturday so found this cafe since I was on the hunt for the best breakfast burritos. This was high on the list on many articles. The cafe itself is extremely small and seating is only available outside. There was already a handful of people waiting for their orders when we arrived. It took about 10 minutes before our order was ready. We ordered two of their most popular grilled burritos - The Classic Bacon Avocado (with potato) & Meatlover Avocado. The burrito itself wasn't extremely big but it was packed with flavor. The eggs combined so well with the ingredients. My favorite was definitely the Meatlover Avocado since it had sausage which was salty enough so ketchup wasn't needed. By far the best breakfast burrito that I've had in a long time. Updating my review. Il Canto is often featured in lists regarding the best breakfast burritos in SF. This is a popular delivery spot, but I finally went in-person. It's located in the FiDi and there's no indoor seating, but there's a few outdoor tables next door, a few parks nearby, as well as the Ferry Building. They do a great takeout business--there were lots of Doordash motorcyclists waiting outside. Next time, we will call ahead of time to pickup so it's ready when we get there. They are efficient--they have to be, they're so popular. Service is good and quick--we only waited 10 minutes, which is what they said. Review is updated to be 5 stars because that breakfast burrito is better hot in-person than delivered (and it's pretty dang good delivered.)
