Note to self: be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes for your food to come out. We saw they opened at 1 pm on Saturdays. We arrived at 1:05 and the restaurant was already packed! We were the 2nd to last table to get our order in with the opening rush. However, the annoying Naperville pre-teens next to us got theirs first. Their parents were seated at the bar due to lack of space and both parties kept getting up and down. The quality of the sushi saved their score. The sushi was amazing. The specialty rolls were fun and flavorful. My recommendation would be get there right when they open, or come back around 2 pm when the first group of diners is complete.

We have never had such delicious sushi in Illinois. We loved the creative different rolls. All of the sauces were amazing. Everything was super fresh and it came out so fancy looking! We couldn't even pick a favorite there were all so delicious. The staff is super nice too. We haven't been so excited by sushi since we were in Hawaii! We will definitely be back!

We walked in on a cold night without a reservation, and they were able to accommodate our group of 4 by the window. This is a small restaurant, so I recommend grabbing a reservation if you can! We started with miso soup that was warm and full of flavor. The ambiance of this place is perfection. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls, and it did not disappoint. The Naperville roll was especially fun! They have other things on the menu, but if you enjoy great sushi, this is a good spot for it.

Great place and good quality sushi. Servers are attentive and they give you warm towels to start. Although a bit on the pricey side, the flavor profile and details were on point. Highly recommend grabbing some sushi here!

I came to IKKAI on memorial day weekend on a Sunday with two friends for lunch. The place looks more suited for dinner as it's dark and a small space, super intimate. It was surprisingly not too busy and we were able to be seated immediately. We were able to order from the dinner menu when we visited. Note: Outside drinks are not allowed -- but the staff stored our drinks in the fridge as we ate. We ordered the Ikkai Sashimi ($40), the Main Street Roll ($13) and the Sake don ($35). The Sashimi and Sake don came with a salad and miso soup which were decent. The Sashimi was overall good and plated beautifully, although the cuts were smaller than average. There were two different kinds of salmon -- my guess is salmon and ora salmon. The ora salmon (fattier) tasted especially fishy, as if it wasn't super fresh; however, everything else was great. The sake don came with a lot of pieces of salmon and some baked salmon with mayo on the side, which was a nice surprise. My friend said that the main street roll was the best crab roll she has ever tried (she loves crab). Overall, I would say that the value of what we ordered was not bad. The taste of the sushi was also good for the area. The portions are definitely smaller, but the presentation was definitely a nice touch. I will definitely return to try other dishes in the future!

IKKAI Sushi - The Best Sushi in the Chicago Suburbs, Hands Down I almost don't want to write this because I don't want more people finding out about this place -- but it's that good. IKKAI absolutely decimates Swordfish (which I used to think was the best around). The quality of the fish, the precision in preparation, the balance of flavors -- everything is just on another level. You can tell every piece is cut and plated with intention. The fish was incredible -- buttery, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth good. Every bite was perfection. Honestly, this might be the best sushi in the suburbs of Chicago, maybe even better than some of the top spots in Oak Brook. If you haven't been yet, go. Just don't take my seat at the sushi bar when I come back -- because I will absolutely be back. The bar is the best place to sit! Great service. Great ambiance

A hidden little sushi place in Naperville... blink and you might miss it. We really enjoyed this restaurant. The service is friendly and appreciative. The sushi chefs are clearly enjoying their work. I loved the little telephone prop in the middle of the sushi bar. My review is from August (sorry I'm late) - the shrimp tempura is awesome. We ordered some nigiri and rolls and everything is fresh. The presentation is very fancy. It is a tiny restaurant but super good quality food. It's a bit loud in here though so hard to hear one another. A bit pricey overall but a nice dining experience.

The staff are super friendly. Great ambience. The freshest sushi I've found in the area, super tasty.

Randomly popped into this Japanese izakaya in DT Naperville and was pleasantly surprised. The fish seemed sourced very well and at a quality better than most Chicago suburban sushi spots. I got the Ikkai weekend special. A bit pricey but actually well worth it. As you can see smoke was part of the dish (for special effects). The regular rolls were good too. Menu was well-rounded and service fantastic. I would recommend Ikkai to anyone in the DT Naperville area.

We have been here a couple times now and I can say this is so far our favorite sushi spot. It's fresh and we haven't had a bad roll yet! It is a smaller place, but we usually are able to get a table.

One of my work friends is a regular visitor here and he suggested this place for lunch meet up. This place is nice and cozy spot in Naperville downtown. Staff is super nice and attentive. Our food was excellent - all the sushi options were so good. I prefer vegetarian options and this place didn't disappoint. Highly recommend it if you are sushi fan.

First time but not the last for this place. Wow, amazing flavor profile throughout. A very small restaurant in downtown Naperville best to make a reservation as we got seats at the counter, but by the time we were leaving, it was filled up. It was fun, watching the sushi chefs, making all of the rolls, using a blow, torch, etc. We ordered the edamame as a starter, which was fine then we ordered a few sashimi pieces as well as three rolls. The Ikkai roll, the Wabisabi roll, and The Ex, all three of them I would highly recommend. I tend to go for the spicy rolls and these all hit the mark.

It's a snug and tiny place in downtown Naperville that serves absolutely delicious sushi! The people there from the chefs and wait staff were friendly, attentive and delivered some absolutely decadent sushi! If I still lived in the area, this would definitely be a place I would frequent regularly. So I did something special and went with an omakase meal that's a bit off the menu. It's a Japanese experience where you basically trust the chef to put together an awesome meal and boy did they deliver! I took a photo of everything as everything was a work of art that tasted as good as they looked. Everything was prepared to perfection and the only criticism I have about the place is how tiny it is. This place earned its 5 stars easily and I'm looking forward to returning the next time I'm in town!

Blue is a damn, damn good place to go. The vegan options are wide and varied (Hello full vegan…read moremenu), and most importantly - good. It is a bit pricey as it is a downtown Naperville location, but it fits for a lot of family activities that tend to match what I do: friends in Bartlett, swimming events nearby, etc. They have two(!) nice outdoor seating areas in addition to lots of space inside - making this a great consideration for summer. I've been here at least 2 if not 3 times now, and I will be coming again. Happy hour menu during Happy hour (which I believe is Sunday) is well worth it. I found my photos for both days, and added them. I do appreciate they have the qr code stuff for paying at the table as well. When I go out with my infant I usually bring a stroller. Places have been hit or miss when I bring it in, but thankfully Blue Sushi Sake Grill had no issues with it. They placed my group in a spot where no one would be reaching over or around my baby. I greatly appreciated this! The options for happy hour are large, probably the best happy hour menu I've seen, EVER. The deals included drinks and food. I tried the white peach daiquiri and it was refreshing. It was a bit on the artificial side but overall I really liked it. It comes with boba which I found super fun for this drink. For food we tried the calamari and 4 different rolls. I don't normally like fried calamari but from Blue I LOOOOVED it. It was crispy, tasty and also comes with veggies. All the rolls were delicious too. A friend suggested we try the cowgirl roll and surprisingly it was so good! Reminded me of a cheeseburger in sushi form, super fun! This is a spot I see myself being frequent and recommending to others.

I live on the north…read moreside which isn't far but having to deal with the traffic honestly keeps me from going, sometimes especially if I just need a few things. First world problems. Anyway, everything about the store is a win for me. I love the selection of produce, but sometimes they do run very low on things. They do offer a lot of products that are hard to find elsewhere and the quality is always really good . I don't go out of my way for organic, but they definitely have a really big selection Since Covid, I don't do hot bars, but they're premade meals are decent like the prime rib for like 10 bucks I found some of the best deals on really high-quality meat I've never been good at cooking steaks, but grabbed a Wagyu strip steak there for half off and it was easily the best thing I've ever made my family like their plates. Yes they're savages, but even they don't usually go that far. They have great selections of cheeses and ethnic spices that are hard to find in an actual supermarket so it's nice not to have to go to 20 different places. I love to cook, which means sometimes I need small amounts of spices if I'm trying something new so it's nice to be able to get most of them there. I think they originated in Ohio, so it's nice to see some of the Kroger offering since I lived there as a kid so it's nostalgic. The neighbor people that hanging out with the bar freaked me out a little bit not gonna lie. I don't get it. I can get behind one and have a drink as you walk through a grocery shopping but to go hang out at the grocery store for no reason, but to sit there and drink as people try to navigate their carts around you... yeah.... Weird. Sorry. Now here's what I definitely don't understand. Their cakes are so underrated unless I've just been walking through life with sunglasses in the AirPods. I have never heard anyone talk about how good their bakery is. They have a huge selection of premade stuff that isn't really their brand but the cupcakes that are made in the store and the cakes they make are incredible. The frosting for their buttercream, you can tell has actual butter in it most grocery stores around here for buttercream seem like they use shortening. I think Mariano's is fantastic and will definitely consider them when I need to order cakes in the future. The people there are also really helpful. My favorite is the woman that supervises the self checkout. She's incredibly friendly and helpful. She doesn't always come across that way initially because she doesn't seem outgoing but she really is great. I definitely say just throw this on your list of regular spots to shop.

We were seated immediately upon arrival and placed our order shortly after. Our waiter recommended 2-3 tapas per person. A quick tip: if you order a paella, order fewer tapas overall as the rice makes it very filling! The standout tapas were the cold Patatas Con Alioli (the garlic in the potato salad was divine), the Vieiras Albariño (scallops were tender and cooked to perfection), and the Calamares A La Plancha (very clean squid, no strong fishy taste). The Solomillos A La Plancha was a unique take on beef tenderloin, though it was ultimately forgettable and the Pollo Al Limón was sadly overcooked and needed more lemon. While we got seated quickly, the dish delivery was very slow and spread out, stretching our total meal to two hours. By the time our Blanco Y Negro dessert arrived, we didn't bother mentioning our missing Queso De Cabra just because we wanted to wrap things up. Another staff member tipped off our waiter about our anniversary, so he congratulated us, took our picture, and brought two glasses of champagne. While a cute moment, we were surprised to be charged for the champagne on our bill afterward. Since I'm not much of a drinker and we already had a pitcher of sangria, we would have declined had we known it wasn't complimentary. Great ambiance and seafood, but watch out for slow food rollout and unexpected charges.
