I'm always hesitant when I have the option to select a Poke bowl that is a specialty vs me ordering one made to order. There are so many great options that I feel is best to leave it up to the professionals. Which is exactly what I did. Was it a number 2 I had? Or was it a number 5? Either way I don't think I could have gone wrong. I appreciate the friendly staff being patient and accommodating as well closing time was quickly approaching. Even a new tray of tuna was brought out to fulfill my order. This rather new location is clean and spacious. I hope some outside seating is next. The food is fresh and that's key in a good Poke bowl and Poke Bros does it well. The portion size seemed appropriate although I could eat two. I won't hesitate to return soon.

I've been to a few poke bowl places, but never one from the Poke Bros franchise. I happened to see this new location as I was driving by on 75th St, so I shortlisted it to try out. I went there today to pick up a bowl for dinner. It's a relatively quiet plaza. Being new, the interior was nice and clean with good lighting and a reasonable amount of seating. You can select from a signature bowl or create your own. They also have mochi ice cream, various refrigerated beverages, and some snack items like wonton chips. I decided to be bold and build my own bowl. To make it somewhat healthy, I went with brown rice as a base, various fillings like tofu and seaweed salad, and the coconut ginger sauce. For the protein, I went with half & half: salmon and shrimp. Overall, it was a pretty good bowl. I didn't get much flavor from the coconut ginger sauce, so next time I would opt for more sauce. Service was friendly and everything seemed fresh. It wasn't the cheapest poke bowl I've gotten, but keep in mind that many of the ingredients are additional cost, so the bill can add up fast. This includes things like avocado, eggs, seaweed salad, masago, and a few other items.

I love that as soon as you enter, you are transported to a tropical oasis that is dark and moody. I visited with a larger group so we made a reservation before. One pays $5 per person in your group and the amount is later applied to your bill. The food menu is minimal and most items weren't available sadly. We got two orders of their pineapple salsa with taro chips. It was yummy but wasn't enough substance to match the drink levels. For drinks, our group got a wide variety. They have all sorts of flavor pairings to accommodate every guest. I got the Captain's Revenge after hearing the Pearl Diver was unavailable. It was good but not amazing. For my second drink, I got the Chocolate Banana Old Fashioned which I thoroughly enjoyed. I didn't hear anyone in our group be disappointed with what they ordered. Our server, Jazmine, was very knowledgable about the menu and asking the right questions to make sure what we each ordered would be something we liked. Overall, this was a fun experience and I am happy I finally got to visit! My experience was slightly tainted with how much was not available the night we visited.

When my wife and I are craving sushi but don't want traditional maki rolls, we'll pickup carryout from this place on Route 59 & Hassert in Naperville. Poke Bros is near a Melting Pot fondue joint and a Warhammer nerd rendezvous (sorry, it's the truth). I'd venture a guess we order poke bowls once a month or so, that's how much we enjoy them. I usually get a custom poke bowl with spicy tuna ($11.50), but you can also get regular ahi or marinated tuna. Preset choices include "the Hula" ($12) with shrimp & crab stick, or the "Johnny Utah" ($12.50) with salmon & avocado. I *have to* believe the owners of Poke Bros were fans of the 1991 action movie Point Break, as Keanu Reeves' character is named....Johnny Utah. There's no other explanation, or Google result! If you're feeling bold, you can opt for squid salad in a poke bowl. For those not interested in sea creatures, there's an option for chicken ($10). They even offer kids bowls ($7), which is the exact same thing albeit a smaller portion. Miso soup is available for $3. When making your own poke bowl, you first select a base (sushi rice, brown rice, or salad), then pick a protein, main ingredients (corn, tofu, ginger, carrots, pineapple, edamame, cucumber, scallion, sweet onion, jalapeno), sauce (ponzu, gochujang, wasabi aioli, coconut ginger, sweet chili), and toppings (sesame seeds, crunchy onion, wonton chips, tempura flakes, crushed cashews). You can add mango, avocado, seaweed salad, or fish roe for $1 extra. Their listing of mochi (Japanese ice cream) gets longer every time we visit. You can get 2 for $4, or 3 for $5.50. I've counted over TWENTY flavors so far: vanilla choc chip, red bean, strawberry, espresso, salted caramel, purple ube, coconut, earl grey, passion fruit, belgian chocolate, lychee, green tea, mango, black sesame, hazelnut, cake batter, banana pudding, açaí, and something called 'hojica'. That's a hell of a selection! * TL;DR * When the mood strikes us, Poke Bros has been a reliable choice. As much as we love these guys, I'd put them a tick below the Bolingbrook Poke Bros (on Boughton near I-355). That location has slightly nicer folks and gives "frequent eater" stamps towards a free poke bowl after 10 purchases. This one doesn't offer that perk, and most of the time the staff just hands over my bag of fish without any pleasantries. Come for the customizable poke bowls, stay for the impressive (and delicious) assortment of mochi. We'll be back.

Though I didn't get to try it on this visit, the food menu fits the tiki bar theme of the lounge and is cooked to order. With each drink I also got a good amount of background on the alcohol used to make the drink and some knowledge on how each flavor combination was developed. The bartender, Ron, seemed to have a good deal of knowledge about rum. All of the specialty cocktails contain rum. Ron was very engaging and enthusiastic about the cocktail menu. He was very friendly and spent a lot of time talking with us. We ordered the Zombie (a trio of light, gold, and dark rum with lemon, lime, passion fruit, and bitters - limit two per customer), the Navy Grog (lime, grapefruit, honey liquor, light rum, dark rum, and Demerara rum), the Painkiller (Pusser's rum, fresh nutmeg, pineapple, orange, and cream of coconut), and the Pineapple Coconut Delight (white rum, coconut, orgeat, pineapple, and lemon). The drinks were very good and I liked the sweetness in the drinks we chose. The drinks that we were served were very strong. I can see why some of them have a two drink limit. Ron kept telling us about the his brother who cooks in the kitchen. He is a classically trained chef, but we were unable to try any of the food because the kitchen is closed on Monday. Overall, the Pau Hana Lounge is a nice bar with a neighborhood feel to it. I recommend Pau Hana Lounge, just be prepared to get a lot of alcohol from these drinks.
