We had a good experience at IKEA when we started, and most of the staff was helpful however when we started asking questions about "picking," which you have to pay 40.00 if you want them to get your items for you, and another 59.00 to deliver, we had the unfortunate experience of talking with a service rep named Andre. He was rude and unhelpful. For customer service I would recommend being a bit more empathetic to customer feedback and less concerned about his next break. I am at least grateful that we had Tanner to finish our order and redeem our experience at IKEA. read more

I must say 8 out 10 people that it seen working the on the lower floor where great. Two men where to busy doing something else to even give a crap what you needed or help you with finding an item on there computer to locate, all I got was go there make a left to the computer department they will help... In a rude way, not nice. The top floor I did not see one worker the entire time. Hard to purchase a bedroom set with know one to answer your questions. The items that are listed in stock are not. They need more workers I was there with my sister and mom who was in a wheel chair, you try and walk a cart a wheel chair and two furniture carts with two people, no help down the isles to help a lady load a bedroom set. Horrible... I was asked after I paid if I needed help and said no since I was not helped much my entire time at the store. Working for a large department store back in high school I get it. They need more workers maybe union works that can stand around and just answer questions and help or seniors like they have at walmart! my sister said this was her first and last time going to ikea. Out of six furniture pieces only 3 where in stock sad no free delivery on the items or something like sorry we don't have it only it will be in stock tomorrow. You feel like an animal in a line to pay and leave. Maybe if another location closer is built I'd go again, but other than that I'm going to do online shopping and purchase what they did not have in stock. This will be much less stressful and you can call and ask someone questions about a product. read more

I love IKEA! I consider myself an IKEA expert, i've remodeled my entire home using their products. Every time i go there its great, the staff is also very friendly and helpful. here a a few insights: -- i lost my bed hardware when i was moving into my new house, but it was no problem! they have a billion extra parts in their returns section. and whatever they didn't have, they ordered and mailed to me! it took a few days, but i didn't have to head back to keep checking! --I was assembling a HUGE TV unit, and ONE piece was dented/damaged due to messed up packaging, but when i called, they told me i only had to bring in the one piece, not the entire TV unit that came in 4 boxes! (thank you IKEA!) -- i recently bought a new sofa set and got a gift card for 15% of my sofa purchase.. just because of the promo! SWEET! -- plus they have FREE warranties?? unbelievable. every other warranty that I've gotten I've had to pay big bucks for! -- two words: cinnamon. buns. :) if i worked there I'd gain 50 pounds eating them everyday. --they've also recently removed a lot of their self check outs. FINALLY. those scanners were terrible! the only downside :i found this out the hard way, but i dislike that when you call the number on the receipt, which IS a 480 number, you get routed to a call center. . . and they don't TELL you they're from a call center so when you show up at the store saying "i talked to so and so today" they look at you blankly. BUT, i will say that even though i had to explain the situation twice, (i would have just avoided calling and headed to the store) everyone in the IKEA customer service department was completely understanding and willing to fix my problems. another note about their customer service team: give them a break! They get some pretty crazy people in there. I've seen customers yell and throw temper tantrums but they all remain professional and courteous. I've even seen some customers practically start a brawl with each other over who was next in line. (really?? that's why there's a number system!) When I was remodeling my house, i had to buy a lot, exchange a lot, and fix a lot of pieces (i'm picky, everything had to be perfect) Every one i worked with was super helpful and friendly. (and I've worked with pretty much everyone in the returns department, INCLUDING the managers!) as an experienced IKEA shopper/returner/exchanger: my one piece of advice for anyone returning items... or even just shopping there.... is to SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS! (scan a copy onto a computer if you can! One manager recommended it, since the heat in AZ fades the paper, and I did with everything that had a warranty, now i will ALWAYS have a copy!) You usually need the receipt for returns, and if you ever have to exchange anything that's already been put together, or if the item is past the return date. BUT if you do happen to lose it, IKEA is actually pretty good about looking up receipts too. Their systems are a little outdated, so they cant just scan the card, but if you can narrow down the date, they've been able to find a few of my receipts when I've lost them. IKEA makes it easy to maintain a home with some style and dignity on a small budget. The concept is entertaining to say the least.. the layout of the store can get to be a bit stressful.. (DON'T WALK THE WHEEL THE WRONG WAY), but this location in particular is bigger, cleaner,more organized, and less insane than other locations I have been to (Burbank, Carson, Tustin, Pittsburgh). IKEA offers innovative products at a great value.. keep in mind, however, that when you're paying 1.99 for a kitchen gadget, or $19.99 for an office chair, don't expect it to last a lifetime. Finally, the scratch and dent area can be the source of staggering bargains.. Sure it may also contain busted toothbrush holders, and broken mirrors, but they also throw in discontinued items, and floor models, at a substantial discount. read more

What's not to like about ikea? Drop your kids off and shop, shop, shop! The merchandise is of quality that you would expect due to the low pricing. They have just about everything under the sun! I like this one. The display area is better here than the one in Denver, and it's easier to get in and out of. If they built a parking garage I'd hook up the fifth star but hot cars and pavement=not my fave. Still love the cheap food and cute, hackable furniture though. I heart you, Ikea! This cafeteria is a great value & nice rest while shopping. The lunches & dessert were good but the breakfast isn't something I'll have again. In particular the eggs were pretty tough to choke down. The Disneyland of furniture stores!!!! Over the many years I've been coming here, I'd have to say, that in the long run, 90% of the stuff I have bought there is still working, functional, and I've certainly got my money's worth. The other 10% says, in life, you get what you pay for, and some stuff has either crapped out or malfunctioned, albeit, after I've got my use out of it. It can also be sort of a fun place to browse, get a bite to eat, and hang out. AC in the summer is cranked, so that's a bonus when it's over 100 degrees outside! read more

After reading so many great reviews nationally about eating at Ikea, I just had to try it. We got there about an hour before the restaurant closes. Already the serving line was out of quite a few items, but I was able to try their Swedish Meatballs, which were quite good. I would definitely eat those again without reservation. I also bought the Coleslaw - it was "just OK". The Corn Cobb was "just OK". The Swedish apple cake was "just OK". Guess you can tell by now I am a fan of the meatballs, but that is about all. To be honest, I was somewhat turned off by the workers cleaning out the serving line items an hour before the restaurant closes, and stacks and stacks of dirty trays and dishes on those filthy roll around carts. Prices are great if you don't get carried away and decide to try everything. Great place to try at least once, but probably only once. read more

First time here. I was not scared with all the people outside and parking lot full. Overall there is a ton of good stuff here. There were lots of things for a $1 that were better deals than Wal-Mart or the Dollar Stores. Lots of stuff as seen on HGTV. This could be a one stop shop for many. We spent almost a whole day here. I hate that everything is pick a part and put together. Stuff is made of pressed wood and cardboard! Cheaply made in China....not in Sweden. Be careful what you buy. We enjoy the occasional hike through IKEA and the food is pretty interesting once in awhile. Also appreciate the smell of the cinnamon rolls cooking at the checkout. The staff are very helpful and attentive when needed and there's obviously a HUGE selection of items. Hard to pass up a lot of the gadgets and such; they've thought of quite a bit and much of it is very practical. My only complaint is the lines when you've reached the end of the hike. Every time we've gone, it's like trying to close escrow on a mortgage!! Doesn't matter if there are 2 ahead of you or 20, the process is for whatever reason sooooo slow! We waited the other day while a dude ahead of us tried to get out with 4 neatly stacked cabinet boxes on a dolly. The girl checking him out scanned each box 3 times, then somehow messed it up resulting in an overcharge so she cleared it out, and started over. Probably wasn't a huge amount of time, but after the 25-minute wait I'd already had combined with watching this unfold right in front of me about finished me off. Worst delivery, customer service and return/exchange store I've ever dealt with! They messed up my order, I went to the physical store to fix it (she was very nice) they were supposed to deliver the correct unit and never showed! Called several times, spoke with several different people, no one cared or had any real sense of accountability! I will never buy from them again and I'm reporting them to BBB!!!!! Feeling a little silly raving about the food in a cafeteria for a furniture store - but it's true! - The food is very good, and the prices are probably cheaper than the average (subsidized) school lunch program. Vanity stops me from going to Ikea just to have a great breakfast or lunch (for like $3-4) so sometimes we make up an excuse to browse at Ikea, just so we can combine it with lunch. The food (in the cafe) is fresh cooked - like healthy grilled salmon, or from simple chicken dishes to swedish meatballs etc ... I hesitate to say "considering the price, the food is great" because it makes it seem like it's about a cheap meal. No ... I generally love this place but it seems like they intentionally stock things incorrectly so you think you're buying something for a particular price, and then at check out assume you're not going to notice. I was just buying pillows of all things, but the cashier wasn't willing to mark my items for the correct price, even though the entire stock was for the price that I was looking at. Poor Quality - No Replacement Parts I purchased a futon about 12 months ago at Ikea. This was for my apartment while I was looking for a new house. We just purchased the new home and I went to move the futon and saw that two of the bottom wooden slats are broken on the futon. I called customer service and was informed that my $600 purchase at Ikea from 12 months ago is basically junk now since there is no way I can get replacement slats for the futon. I even offered to purchase them, but was informed that this was not possible since the only item they were able to replace was the screws, nothing on the product itself. So - here I am looking at $600 purchase from Ikea which I thought was a value purchase and am finding out that Ikea is pretty much like Wal Mart in terms of quality. I'll certainly keep this in mind as I am refurnishing my new home. read more

I gave a 5 star because of the overall experience at IKEA-Tempe. But, I have to bring up an attention relating to a healthy concern, and hope IKEA to read and take my suggestion seriously. Walking down from the dinning area to the ground floor through the stairs, every time, I can smell a very strong pungent odor. I know what the odor is as a chemist. It's formaldehyde, HCHO, or CH2O, which "poses a significant danger to human health" according to online information, and the US National Toxicology Program described formaldehyde as "known to be a human carcinogen." Attention, please! Where does formaldehyde come from? When you walk from Market Hall into Self-serve Furniture Area on the ground floor, you will be able to smell the same odor. That's the odor of formaldehyde, from the furniture. I would suspect that IKEA doesn't have a very effective ventilation system. Therefore, formaldehyde rests especially in the stairway area after an internal circulation. I believe with a normal nose, everyone should smell it, but if no one reports it to IKEA administrators, don't expect the problem to be solved. This is a customer experience I have been to IKEA, which was always great, but every time, I was choked by that stink. Therefore, I really hope IKEA could pick up my review and find a solution to remove formaldehyde from the ground floor for the healthy concern to the visiting and shopping customers. read more

The few employees actually on the floor cluster and chat in groups and relentlessly avoid your gaze lest you ask them a question, even when it's not that busy. Just a few months a go I got cabinets for our new kitchen. The quality is very good, but they give more or less parts. so you have to get back to IKEA a couple of times and return some of them and get new ones. But overall it was a good experience. it took me a long time to 'get it' about this place. i still don't think it's the end all of urban design or decor, but at least it's not too shabby looking. i probably went there three or four times loathing the crowds (still do, that won't change) and just picking up 'fun' stuff that grabbed my attention. it wasn't until i stopped having roommates and started actually wanting to invest some of my own money into non-thrift store furniture that i "got it." it's not quality stuff, and it will wear and tear pretty quickly ( i picked up a coffee table/ end table set in a dark faux wood finish and after one move the edges were all worn down to expose the light brown underneath-boo) but that's the beauty, the set was only $35, so who cares? before ikea the only other option for semi-cheap furniture that didn't totally suck around here was target, and they were way overpriced for the quality. i've now noticed that the target pieces have not only begun to look more clean and hip in their designs, but go down in price too, so double-plus-good all around. p.s. i will never get over how weird this is, but i LOVE their swedish meat balls, and their only $1.99. oh, and i hear their $1.99 breakfast is pretty killer, too. read more

i have always liked ikea. when i bought, gutted, and re-did my first condo here, nearly all the furniture, faucets, and even the laminate came from ikea. easy to find products, relatively cheap, but mostly, i liked the style and look of their products. anyone reading this knows the deal with ikea....navigating the casino like labyrinth of showroom products, only to be shuffled through another labyrinth of everything they sell upstairs! on a sat/sun, it's maddening....mostly because their shopping carts can be pushed in any direction (not just to/fro), and when a family comes barreling down the aisle with 10 unruly kids each pushing an Ikea cart, there's bound to be a torn Achilles in the end. ah, no worries...as long as i can get my lingonberry on, with a side table of Lake. read more

I like to call IKEA, Entertainment shopping, sure you go there for the stuff, but you also go there to get ideas, look at interesting patterns and arrangements. I have bought nothing but good things from IKEA, when it comes to engineering the Euro's definetely have an edge over us. One of my best friends in college refused to call Ikea Ikea. Instead, she would only respond if you called it "The Magical Place of Wonderment." I think she was onto something. It is like Costco only with good short-term use furniture and without the need to buy in "years." And the snack bar is just as good, too, if not better. The swedish meatballs are no joke and neither is the breakfast. WORD TO THE WISE: Near the cashiers by the door there is a used and returned section that is a can't miss. Most of the stuff there is broken or missing a piece, but catch it on the right day and you might find a smokin' deal on a piece of furniture or art at a fraction of the original price. This is an IKEA, surprise surprise right? As a first time I ever step foot in this place, I was happy to have my wife who has been multiple times and could navigate. As an organization person, I thought the way they lay out IKEA is perfect for impulse buyers as there is so much stuff around. The experience was pleasant and we have enjoyed everything we bought from their.
