Their home delivery service is awful. I had a delivery set up for two days after I purchased the furniture. Waited and waited and no one showed up. The delivery guys had no answer as to what happened. Rescheduled it for the following week. Get a call two days prior that the bed frame is out of stock. Checked online - it was available in the store and online. Had them wait to deliver so that would be included. Finally they come to deliver (2 weeks after purchase) and they showed up with a third of the stuff!! It's impossible to talk to a human being without being on hold for hours. They have the worst customer service I have ever seen!! It's the last time I ever shop there. read more

Here are some tips to make the most of your IKEA visit. 1) If possible, avoid going on the weekend! This whole area is filled with big-box stores and can get very, very busy. 2) Arrive early so you can enjoy the 99-cent breakfast. You won't believe how much food you get. And it tastes pretty good as well! 3) After the meal, shop, explore, wander, get lost and enjoy the showroom which displays all the furniture in its assembled state and then do the same in the store that sells smaller goods and accessories for the home. 4) By this time, you'll have worked up enough of an appetite to go back to the restaurant for some of their Swedish meatballs. I've purchased a few things on each visit. The quality is decent - esp. given the prices and the assembly is a breeze - much easier than the stuff you get at Staples or Target for example. read more

First things first. This store is huge and is very crowded when college kids are moving back into the area. If you want to go anytime in August or September, you need to go early in the the day. Let's say arounf 10AM when they open. If not, you'll probably end up having a miserable time because of the crowds and trying to find assistance will be difficult. I've heard others say that the quality of Ikea products is lower than other furniture stores but what the heck, you save money by building the furniture yourself! The quality is not that bad. It's actually pretty good. There is a huge cookware and dining ware area. Prices are very good especially for the college-aged buyers who will be using it for a few years before they move on to other goods. They got everything from furnishing a child's room to furnishing your entire house! And if you get hungry, they got swedish meatballs with lingonberry sauce and cinnamin buns! Went to Ikea as a first time customer spent over $750 on new furniture. Sales person was well informed and entered our purchase into the system. Delivery was set for 2 weeks plus from date of purchase. That day arrived without a text, email or phone call. I made numerous calls to the company main line customer service. Wait times are excessive spent over 2 hours trying to fine my delivery. Was transferred to resolutions center no one answers that extension. As of this writing I still have no idea when my furniture will ship. Nice store horrible customer service. I will not return to this facility. read more

Atrocious customer service when it comes to deliveries. My story is similar to many of those posted here: I've ordered a bunch of items one month ago; the delivery came as scheduled, but as many as seven items were missing. I've tried to get them to deliver the rest four times, and every time they've lost my order. Each time I had to spend an hour or more on the phone, listening to the elevator music and then speaking to their utterly incompetent and dishonest employees. I ended up cancelling my order and asking for refund, but, despite their promises, have not received a cent of it yet. Overall, I would avoid this place like plague. Today I have experienced the most outrageous customer service at IKEA. This new click and collect service process is broken and not functioning as designed. I placed my online order then received a confirmation to pick up my order in a specific window of time. I arrived at that time and the designated area and contacted the customer service agent and waited to be helped. The process took 1 hour until I received my order to my car. Upon inspecting my order, it was missing one box. I told the agent and he said that they are working on it. I waited another 30 minutes and nobody was helping. I was super frustrated and no one seemed to care or acknowledge the problem. I went to the store to speak with a manager or someone who was willing to help but I was extremely disappointed. No one seems to know where is the problem and honestly one one seemed to care enough to help and acknowledge the issue. There were I started to strongly demand to speak to one in charge to address this broken process. The process is clearly needs reevaluating and the people working there needs training. Another one of many amazing ikea stores! It's pretty huge, so be prepared to do a lot of walking. My favorite price of furniture they offer is the karlstad sofa. It's pretty great. Really comfy and convenient. I spilled quite a bit of wine on my karlstad. I simply took off the covers, put them in the washer (on the delicates setting with cold water so it didn't shrink) and I was good to go! That's why I buy from ikea! read more

I swore 9 yrs ago that I would NEVER make another purchase here and yet....... my hubby fell in love with a sleeper sofa. We purchased months ago and anxiously awaited it's arrival today. The five stars are for IKEA being completely deserted on a Friday night! Me and my buddy were the only chicks in the store, and were able to get our delicious (cheap) Swedish food without having to wait in any line! Who knew they were open until 10 PM??? That's so cool. Now I know where to go at 8:30 on Friday night to buy cute kitchen utensils. You're really able to pretend you live in a 273 sq ft apartment when no strangers are there to try it to. Love this place. Ikea is something I can do when I'm completely bored and have absolutely nothing to do or no where to go on any given day. Guaranteed to have a good time. People always tell me that they get lost in this place, but really just follow the arrows on the path and you're all good. The upstairs is all furniture, separated by each room of your house. I like to see how the have the "fake" apartments set up with some amazing stuff in such tiny spaces. The Marketplace downstairs is my favorite!! It has all the little stuff for your place. Lights, kitchen stuff, rugs, bathroom stuff, bedding... it's all pretty awesome. I would spend so much money here if I had it to spend in the first place. Before the checkouts, if you look to the right there's the Bargain Center. Check it out!!!! There's so much good stuff that is in here for cheap because it's got a tiny scratch or it's missing a piece or something. Usually you can't even tell whats wrong with the item, and maybe you are handy enough to buy it and then stop at Home Depot on the way out and fix it at home. Oh, and the cafe is pretty amazing too. Yay! for cinnamon buns and hot dogs and Swedish meatballs on the cheap!! I mean, $2.50 for a couple dogs, a drink and a bag of chips?!? What's better than that after a fun afternoon of shopping? One note would be to try to avoid this place on the weekend, it can get absolutely insane with tons of people. Oh, and there's no public transportation to this place either... but I drive so that doesn't really bother me. Some people can't stand Ikea and some people love it. I'm kind of the latter. read more

IKEA has one of the worst customer service chains and a terrible return policy. Although they grant a 365 day return for unused items, my story begins, as these nightmares often do with a visit to the Stoughton, MA location. We had so much fun shopping. dun... dun... dun... After checking out, we realized we couldn't fit everything into our SUV. So I paid 29.00 for a delivery. We were told it would be 2 weeks to receive a delivery for a 3 piece sofa (large large boxes that would not fit in our SUV). Fine. I paid and we went home. I then read online the nightmares people had to deal with regarding delivery and returns. We decided to go elsewhere for a sofa, so I called IKEA's customer service. This is not the store, but a national hotline. I wait 3 hours. This is 2 days after we made the purchase, and delivery order. I speak to the representative who informed me that I'm cancelling with plenty of time. She confirms items did not leave the warehouse, confirms that the shipping company did not receive. I should receive a full refund greater than 700.00 USD in 3-5 business days. 1 full week later.. nothing. I keep making attempts to call in, but they're 2 hour waits! This Ikea is over an hour away. No way I have time to just pick up everything and go down there. Fine. I read online the return policy is a nightmare and has taken people over 3-4 months to get any response. Hell no. This is over 700 dollars! I file a dispute with my credit card company (thank god I did). I was given a credit back, and I thought I'd let my CC company go after Ikea. Nope, Ikea was fighting back that I made a CASH AND CARRY purchase. They even provided the receipt that listed my Credit Card on file... I was also told I can have a refund when I return the items (that I never received... because I cancelled the order). Of course, I went to the Better Business Bureau. Same story. I called customer service two more times to learn I am due a refund, items never left facility, nor received by shipper. Fine. I documented this. Next step? Lawyer? I went to the attorney general. After consulting a lawyer I was told to send a 30-day demand letter. Low and behold... Ikea called me the same day to issue me a refund. This should NOT have gotten this far. I'd recommend coming on a weeknight to avoid crowds. I've been to IKEA several times but this was my first trip coming with a bonafide list and a will to get exactly what I needed for my apartment. The staff were helpful in looking up an item that I saw on the floor that didn't have a tag and for once, I actually enjoyed walking through the showroom to look at models. My only issues are that I hate weaving around slow-walking customers who are oblivious to other shoppers around them. That frustration accompanies any type of crowded place, so it's not IKEA's fault necessarily, but it makes for a slightly more stressful shopping experience. That being said, I had a "500 Days of Summer" moment when I wanted to test out one of the beds, so it can be a playground for adults, too. read more

Slowly but surely my apartment is becoming filled with IKEA furniture. I have to say, I love each piece I own and I don't worry about getting sick of it. And even if I do, every thing is so inexpensively priced I can replace pieces in a few years and not feel bad about it. I went to this IKEA when it first opened and of course it was a mad house. Since then I have been on two other occasions and both visits were during the week, at mid-day. I highly recommend visiting the store at this time as it was relatively empty and provided a relaxed atmosphere for browsing/shopping. I also think IKEA is a great place when shopping for gifts. I managed to get some Christmas shopping done during my last visit. You can find pretty unique gifts that are very inexpensive. read more

Wow. The traffic on the weekends getting here is IMPOSSIBLE. There's even a warning on Rt 24 south saying that you should expect stopped traffic for about a mile and a half on weekends. It's all due to IKEA. That's the power of that place. It's insane. They really need about 2 more exits on that highway JUST for IKEA. We went there looking for a desk on Saturday. Let me first start off by saying that I DO love Ikea. I love their furniture, the price, the wide array of choices, the style, etc. I love that I can walk through the store, see mini-rooms set up, and get a feel for things we can do back home. I love that I don't have to pick anything right away, and can just make notes and write things down, and get what I want at the end. I love the random things you'll find here, things you didn't even realize you HAD to have, until that very moment. I love how huge the store is, and how things are spread out, and not jammed into a tiny space. I do NOT love how it's a ginormous playground for kids, whose parents come for the day, and let their kids run all over the place screaming and yelling, unsupervised, while they stroll idly by, lost in new-couch-conversation. Seriously. I've almost lost a leg a few times. I also don't like how the minute people pull into the parking lot, it's like they're 16 again, going for their learner's permit. Follow the arrows, people, pick a spot. Word of advice? Go either first thing on a weekday morning, or on a Friday night. You'll find parking near the exits, on ground level, only about 200 kids running around, instead of 700, and the checkout lines with only about 10 people waiting, instead of 20. Almost all of my current furniture is from Ikea. The store itself can be a bit overwhelming to navigate. Its very easy to get sidetracked and lost. I actually had to go several times to find everything I needed for my place. The furniture can be a bit tricky to put together though. 26 year old single guy here. I needed to upgrade my bed, which I had been using since high school. Did my research prior to ever stepping foot into Ikea. Found a few frames I liked and narrowed it down to two. Went into the store and saw that they still carried a discontinued frame. Threw out my other two frames and picked up my original, but discontinued, favorite (Hopen). Didn't anticipate buying a mattress, but the prices were more than reasonable so I picked up the Fidjetun along with the sultan Luroy bed slats. Set up was as expected. If you follow the instructions and are careful with the parts you should be fine. Got it set up in less than an hour. First night sleeping on it was MISERABLE. Woke up with shoulder and back pain. After some further research, I found out that it can take up to 4 weeks for the mattress to fully support you as it should. After that first night, it got continually better. Today, 3 weeks and 3 days later, I've never slept as well as I do now. I enjoy the stiffer, yet just plush enough, feel that the Fidjetun provides. In reality, I was sleeping fine after 3-4 days. Now that the mattress has had a chance to get settled, it's much better. In terms of store experience, it's Ikea. Don't expect people to hold your hand through the process. Do your own research and come prepared. The do it yourself nature is part of the charm. Prepare to do some heavy lifting (If you're buying any kind of larger furniture). If you need help, there are warehouse guys walking around. All in all a great experience and I'm very pleased with my purchase. If you're anything like me, you hate spending a ton of money no matter what you're buying. I'm the guy who does google searches for online coupon codes for anything and everything. To those who would benefit from these words, do not fear spending good money on your bed. You spend a third of your day there. While the bed I bought may not be a 10,000 dollar luxury bed, it is certainly an upgrade from where I was before. Anecdotally, I find myself more relaxed throughout the day and I look forward to when I get to see my bed again. read more

The day i realized I was finally "getting old": when I went to IKEA and found that the food court was so much more appealing than the furniture. Oh, dear. I give IKEA props; they don't hide exactly what they are, and they really do have interesting furniture solutions, and they certainly know how to make their showroom look enticing. Enticing enough that at the end of your trip, you're lugging four thousand pounds of WOOD from their basement to your car and thinking it's the best idea ever. Here's where things get tricky: have you ever actually tried to read an IKEA instruction manual? i swear that either Swedish people are incredibly brilliant and thus, are truly the underdogs of the world and will eventually take over, one Juuska at a time (that's a lamp, everyone) - OR, the IKEA folks are really just trying to make people nuts. I don't get how stick figures of people dancing can somehow build me an entertainment center, especially considering that they include screws in their 'tool bag' that don't exist anywhere else... but all in all, I've been a fan. I've had IKEA furniture last 6 or more years, and that's pretty crazy. This particular location is great because, aside from the aforementioned food court (which ROCKS, people.. Swedish meatballs are great, but you should totally try the desserts!), there are staffmembers ready willing and able to help you pick out your next furniture building nightmare. You don't have to wander aimlessly through the vortex that is IKEA if you don't want to... and you honestly don't get that everywhere. i still have panic attacks when reminiscing about those instruction manuals... but I suppose it's all par for the course. IKEA is good stuff, you just have to be incredibly patient, or have a really patient (or handy) friend. If you have those things in check, you're golden. Cheap furniture! Life is good. read more

They serve the entire east coast of Massachusetts, so they are pretty much always busy. It makes parking difficult and the interior can get pretty hectic. Oh, Ikea, I loved you in California, and you're just as amazing on the east coast... I'm so jealous that you picked Cincinnati over Columbus for your first one in Ohio. I like everything about Ikea - it's so much fun following the little path, working your way through the enormous showroom, seeing all of the displays of furniture and wonderful accessories and gadgets. I find myself feeling like a kid, pointing to everything and exclaiming, "look at this, Mom, look at this!" Nice thing is, Ikea recognizes you are probably going to exhaust yourself and need to be refueled, so they have their own restaurant. But wait... they don't actually charge you an arm and a leg because you are now their captive, you are exhausted and starving, and there is no competition? Maybe they make enough on furniture sales to subsidize practically giving food away. It's simply unbelievable the prices they charge in the restaurant. The food is so yummy, too. I mean really - $.99 for a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes? $3.99 for a meal of Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, and lingonberries? And then there is the little grocery downstairs where you can get all kinds of yummy stuff (including some of the stuff they serve in the restaurant, like the meatballs and lingonberries) to take and cook at home. This was the perfect solution for my daughter and I while we were vacationing in the Boston area. We were staying at one of those hotels with a kitchenette, so getting some of this great stuff to cook in our room was the perfect way to save a bit of money during our trip. read more

Where does IKEA get its funny name? Product names, like the Kramfors sofa and BEST J GRA TV unit with casters. It turns out IKEA actually has funky system based on names of stuff from its native lands. Items for the bathroom like Apskar (a wash basin), Toftbo (a bathroom mat), and Sanni (a bath sheet) are named after Scandinavian lakes, rivers and bays--that seems appropriate. IKEA is a much bigger deal in North America than it is in Europe. I guess "Scandinavian Design" sounds exotic when you're far enough way from Scandinavia. I can understand that the label of "Danish Design" is pretty valuable, because the products that gets attributed with this label are things like classy (and outrageously expensive) Bang & Olufsen equipment. But IKEA products are mostly basic and affordable furniture. But its not just a furniture store is it? No no Its an experience. Even before you arrive there are cues of an upcoming voyage as the airport-like signs over the street guiding you in. The place is huge, you will take hrs, whether you wish to or not getting around and finding yourself out of the maze. I always feel like a diligent ant when there, following the other diligent colony ants...follow the floor arrows, be quick, be thorough, we all must follow the defined path, dont stray too far, keep moving. It can be overwhelming at any time. During the same trip you may feel elation from an innovative discovery or bargain then feel complete torment, this is a nightmare-then back again. The furniture. Its college dorm stuff, at best it sometimes succeeds in looking like trendy bachelor(ette) pad living in downtown. I think ive bought bookshelves and a desk at some point but the serious furniture is not all that serious. Putting the furniture together is a chore. Where Ikea really succeeds, for me, is the the lower level; this is where all the home accessories are. Buy lights, rugs, posters, curtains, bedding, exotic plants, pillows, kitchen goods and on and on. Ikea also cleverly solves every storage need a human being may have. The food. Ive rarely liked cafeteria food more. If you were to get served this stuff at a restaurant you would send it back, but at Ikea you rejoice in the value. It reaffirms the notion that the needless stuff you just bought is really a great value, just like the food. No its not junk, look its edible. The Swedish meatballs and mac and cheese is my fav. For take home the Marabou milk chocolate is a must. It is similar to Belgium or British chocolate, much creamier, its fantastic. Ikea is a great place to find expensive looking and unique accessories cheap. The trip can be a day kill but i dare you to go and not bring something new home. read more

I came, I saw, I didn't conquer...but I'll be back. IKEA! You could spend a whole day here and then some. I always start off strong and enjoy walking through the kitchens, bedrooms, etc. on the 2nd level and can imagine having smartly designed rooms like what they have, but then I go downstairs...and I fade fast. Downstairs is where they offer kitchen stuff, houseware stuff, rugs, plants, basically everything for your house. They have so much in this area and it's such a labyrinth I get frustrated and can't wait to get to the warehouse so I can pick up my "build it yourself" furniture and always forget to buy something I wanted to. I like their furniture as it gets the job done and is better quality (in my eyes) than what you would find at Walmart, but it's not furniture that you'll pass onto your kids. We ended our last trip with a $1 cinnamon bun and a $2.50 combo of pizza/soda, and made plans for another trip in the near future. IKEA! read more

I go to Ikea a lot. I mean everytime I need furniture it is a necessary stop. That being said it was not any different this time. And to place this in reference to other locations I went to Jordan's first. And its right next door. I left in about 30mins. It had nothing for my two stepdaughters that was worth purchasing that they would not ruin. So instead I went to Ikea. It takes forever YES I agree however, I gave my faince some food adn he made it through adn got dessert on the way out. A whole lunch for $2 is amazing. He got 2 hot dogs, chips, and a drink. On the way out a cinnamon roll and ice cream ($3 total). So we looked and searched and what we want to do to update their storage and aesthetics will come in around $100 if we dont include the $150 wall size picture of a wave. That is what I call cheap. Especially because they share a room and they need 2 of everything. Also went over to the AS-IS section. We need another seat cover for our slip covered couch. Its like $5-10 for a new cover which is better than the $50-150 for a whole cover set but still slipcovers that are hideous are $100 minimum. Love this place! read more

I LOVE IKEA. But you need some tips before taking a trip here: 1) Bring a bag (purse/ man purse / fanny pack if you dare) and keep a bottled water and a snack in it. Yes they have a restaurant inside (incredibly cheap too!), but honestly, I've never been in the mood to sit down and chow while I'm there. You're there long enough, I don't feel like sitting and losing momentum! 2) Leave you jacket in the car. I don't care if it's -20 out. You will overheat and get faint from all the activity (especially if you don't pack a snack/water as in #1. 3) Bring at least 1 person with you. Maybe even two. Don't go it alone. You will need someone to push your cart or hold your bags and if you end up going to the warehouse and taking home their flat packed furniture, you're going to need someone to push the dolley and someone to push your shopping cart. 4) Don't go on the weekend if you can help it. Especially Sundays. Weekends are packed and I've found that by the time you get to the warehouse part of the building on a Sunday afternoon, they're out of half your prized modular furniture. :( And IKEA is too far away to come back the next day. 5) Tylenol or Advil. Yes. 6) Take your time but don't get too excited about the showrooms at the very beginning of your walk through and write down every location of every item. Odds are, you'll probably see those pieces farther down the line and you don't want to overwhelm yourself and burn out. I know a lot of people think IKEA is trash and cheap furniture but I have to say, I've owned stuff from here for years and it's in better shape than the $3K sofa we bought 5 years ago. I love IKEA because it gives people (i.e. college students, people in their 20's and 30's etc) who may otherwise have to settle for hand me downs and Goodwill finds, a chance to furnish their apartment/house with things that actually go together and do so inexpensively. You will find everything here from sofas, beds, bureaus, lamps, pillows, picture frames and framed art, candles, kitchen utensils, cat toys, plants, drapes, Swedish foodstuffs, storage boxes etc. I think the only thing they don't sell is clothing. Ok so I have made the pilgrimage to IKEA many times since it opened in late 2006. On a weekend it gets 3 stars on a weekday it gets 5. First on weekdays: I have taken a few "sick days" in my life to go to IKEA crowd free. There is no wait and I can take my time to stroll through the showroom, take pictures to send to my fiance and then after walking a few miles it is time for a meal. I go and get some yummy lunch ( swedish meatballs are delicious) they also have 50 cent hotdogs for the kiddos. Vegans this is not your place to eat. It actually kinda suprises me since there tends to be a hippish crowd. I then head downstairs to the marketplace and shop until my hearts content. The carts do not work too well but its not the end of the world. They have everything from linens, towels, pots and pans, lighting, decor, etc. I mean everything IKEA is an adventure. Then you get to the self service area where you get your weight training in after and hour or two of cardio. Lifting those heavy boxes is a great bicep workout and I will take it . The stuff is easy to build, decent quality and they have cheap prices. I almost always do the self service area after I went once and dealt with the bichiest cashier of my life. I have never really met a friendly employee here, I would assume IKEA does not pay well but these people need a little bit of an attitude adjustment. On weekends...... It is a zoo. Parking is near impossible. Check out lines are huge. It is like an theme park. Lots of strollers, screaming kids, pouting boyfriends/fiances/husbands, bitchy women who are on the prowl for a cheap end table and will fight to the death for it. I will not go on and on but I know longer go to IKEA on the weekends even though the people watching was enjoyable. read more

I declare shenanigans on Ikea hype! Long-time listener, first-time visitor last night, and while the conditions seemed to be perfect--not crowded, perfect parking space--I was still left feeling seriously underwhelmed at the end. Now, that's not to say I didn't enjoy my trip there, because I certainly did...I WANT that college-psuedo-Indian bedroom set they'd created...but I just expected the prices to be a little bit lower, the sets to be a little more creative, and their furniture to be just a little better made. I did enjoy daydreaming about my future non-apartment house, I saw a bedframe that I'm seriously considering going back for, and I always will appreciate a place that sells hot dogs for .50 cents and a cinnamon bun for a dollar...but it didn't spark for me, there wasn't anything other than the feeling I would get looking through a Pier 1. "Ooh, that looks nice!" "Wouldn't that be great in the living room?" but in the end, all you walk out with are dreams and inspiration for the future. read more

Dealt today with the worst manager from any store, let alone any IKEA. I was treated rudely and brushed off - and told it was my problem. "Dan" should not be a manager. He should be removed from your customer service department at the very least. I asked for his manager and the "Duty Manager" "Robin" came to talk with me. She also dismissed me without addressing my issues with Dan and the fact he was rude and dismissive. I returned most of what I had just purchased and left. I won't be going back. read more

You should think of this place as a museum where you are allowed to touch and even sit on the art. You may or may not like their style, but many items are quite cheap and you can walk around and try out everything. It's worth a visit if you have not been to IKEA. read more

Okay for a quick nosh if you get hungry while shopping. Not the type of place you will long for a meal at. Prices are good and the cafe is large. Take home the cinnamon buns and eat a $1 ice cream cone. read more

At IKEA i got a smoothy thinking it was a normal smoothy, but my parents said it wasn't JUST a normal smoothy. When i got it and tasted it, i relized it was truth, it tasted a little different, and it was thicker than i expected. The texture was different. IKEA is soooooooooo big that didn't get bored looking around and trying out couches. IKEA also has MUCH, much more. If you want to know the rest . . . you'll have to go there yourself!!
