Ikea offers beautiful, functional items at amazing prices. In terms of getting bang for your buck, Ikea is better than almost anyone else, including Walmart, etc. and what you get is high quality for what you pay. Some products can be atypically pricey though, so you have to keep your eyes open. The style is, what can I say, Swedish. It's not for everyone. Ikea furniture is usually really solid the first time you put it together. But if you have to take it apart to move it, don't expect it to come together the same way again. I'd recommend any Ikea furniture made out of particleboard (beds, dressers, tables), their organization supplies (boxes, shelving), kitchen supplies, and decor. Their picture frames are elegant and extremely cheap. People watching is quite fun here too. There are so many lovey dovey couples shopping together for their house, it might be a downer if you're single. Downsides: the store's so huge, even to take the 'shortcut' to the cafe is a trek. I'm happiest with Ikea when I come here only two or three times a year. Ikea is so popular, you run this risk of buying the same thing as everybody else. Friends, company, etc. will probably recognize "that bed from Ikea". Although Ikea produces some classic items, most of their products have a high turnover. I've often fallen in love with an item to find it's soon discontinued. The flip side of this is there's always new product in stock. More than once, Ikea has sold out of the item that I drove 45 minutes to buy. One time, we had a horrible experience with "eat for free" promotion where Ikea reimburses your cafe bill if you buy $150 worth. After enjoying a meal, we went to the warehouse where we discovered that the item we came for had sold out. The manager refused to refund our cafe bill and treated us like we were lying, then implying it was our fault they were sold out. The manager was totally power tripping. The predicament was unavoidable on our part however. It's a flawed promotion. In the end they did refund our bill, but we left bitter. Basically trying to get any service from anyone is hit or miss here. But that's Ikea for you! read more

Word to the wise, their "firm" foam mattresses are extra-firm and use a substandard foam that compresses like a futon. You will need to flip it up during the day to decompress it. The "medium firm pocket spring" mattress is what any other company would call firm. It's good but could use a thin layer of memory foam. The food court is the #1 reason to go to IKEA. In the last 3 weeks I have been to IKEA twice..once on a Saturday & again yesterday late afternoon (weds around 6:30pm) and I recommend to shop at IKEA during the week..you will save yourself time since there will be WAY LESS people shopping & you won't have to fight your way going down the long aisle as you move through the store. And there was practically no waiting in line when I had to check out yesterday verses on a Saturday all the cashier lines being super long because after going through the entire IKEA store it's like running a marathon..you are pooped & the last thing I want to do is wait in line forever!!! During the week I felt like the queen of England being able to park right in front of IKEA versus on a Saturday I have to park waaaay out & that's after circling the parking lot for 5 minutes. So on my 1st trip to IKEA I was very disappointed..there weren't very many furniture styles that came in different colors..for example I was on the hunt for a dresser and a table/ shelving thingie to go under my mounted tv & the colors were basic..white, black, basic brown all blah, blah, blah but no aqua or grey or any other fun modern colors that IKEA is known for. I was also on the hunt for a large area rug & no luck w/ that either BUT on my trip last night to IKEA I had waaaay better luck. I found a cool rug, picture frames, & I always hit the jackpot w/ the selection of table placemats that IKEA has :-) & at a great price..$3.99 ea. So to sum it up I think my hubby would prefer I shop on a Saturday cuz that way if I end up having to wait in a super long line for 30 minutes just to check out the chances are high that I might just leave w/out buying anything verses spending $250 like I did last night. :-) read more

This IKEA is very remote for Austinites, so you should make extra certain that you want whatever you are buying, because taking it back will be a hike. Help can be hard to get here even when the salespeople are idle and chatting amongst themselves. The restaurant sells good quality food and is a joy. Achtung! My son in law, daughter, and three grand children came from CA for Christmas. Both of my daughters and I planned it all out. This was a total surprise for Mrs. Texas and it was part of her Christmas from the family. Needless to say, we hadn't purchased an additional guest bed, until now. We found a queen bed (just assembled) and we also bought the dresser to match (not yet assembled). We also purchased one of their top of the line mattresses. The bad comes with the regular slats, unless you purchase the upgraded slats, which we did. They are bowed up, have a strong wood frame, and a square metal support pipe that runs down the middle. This system is much better than just the regular flat slats. The upgrade is more comfortable and much more sturdy. We tried to get delivery, $69, and assembly, $72, but they couldn't come out until the end of next week. So we hauled it, and assembled part of it. The dresser will be assembled tomorrow. read more

Like all other Ikeas. Tons of stuff you want to buy for your house, very clean and organized, etc. The cashier's and customer service staff are so-so, they don't seem very happy to be there. They also hop on their phones when they don't have anyone in their line. So it's a love hate relationship here. I guess I only find time to go during the weekends otherwise known as peak hours only. It gets super crazy here during the weekends. They have built a parking garage so that helps with parking. There are so many things to look at here and get design ideas. I feel like a lot of the stuff is cheap and won't last though, particle board for most of the furniture items. There are great finds though, but you have to walk through the whole store to get the experience. They have a day care area you can check you kid into. There is also a cafe half way through in case you get worn out. The food is super cheap in the cafe. The utensils in the kitchen are good. But some of the pots and pans I would watch out for, some will last and some others are not so good. I like the lightening they have but it forces you to get a stupid light bulb from them only so that's annoying. There are some things that are super cheap but then requires you to get something else like light bulbs or cords and it's no longer super. cheap. The also have an As-Is section, sometimes I've seen a good deal there but others not so much, as well as a last chance section or also known as a clearance section to the right of all the registers when you are checking out. At the end there is also a little grocery with some European goodies , where you can buy the Swedish meatballs everyone likes so much (not really my thing though). There is another snack stand that has more snack type foods versus the cafe, like cinnamon rolls and hot dogs all for really cheap as well. The check out line can get crazy. If you're going to get something delivered, do not go to the store and order there. I learned this today. They do not want to deliver. They will give you a website to go to and you have to set it up. We had some problems with the website, and no one knew how to use it. They can't give you any advice. It's a third party website and none of them know anything about it. The lady at the furniture pick up desk was very rude about it too. We ended up canceling our order and placing the order on the Ikea website. Same price. Delivery was easy to set up. There's an option to even get assembly. The whole thing came out less with the delivery. If you want something delivered, order it online. I wish they had told me that at the store. read more

The staff at this location hate their jobs and it really shows :( This is a review for the food counter behind the checkout registers. These events occurred Saturday June 1st at approximately 12PM. I never received food that I paid for. I ordered two veggie dogs and was told it would be a 6 minute wait. I stood to the right of the cash register where other people were also waiting. One by one everyone got their food whether it be frozen yogurt cones or hot dogs. After a while I noticed that people who ordered AFTER us were getting their food. So I asked about the veggie dogs. The young man behind the register (not the same guy who checked me out) told me they're in the oven. Another 5 minutes or so pass by and a young female employee asked if I'm waiting on food. I told her i'm waiting on two veggie dogs. She asked if I wanted them with everything on it and I said yes. She promptly disappeared never to be seen again. 5 more minutes passed. I noticed an older woman had now joined the other staff. I asked her about the hotdogs that I'm waiting on and let her know it had been a full 15 minutes when we were told 6. She told us that our veggie dogs had been given away to other customers and that we were supposed to wait on the LEFT of the counter. There was zero signage, and zero indication that were were supposed to wait there. None of the staff helped us out even as I asked over and over about our food. What hurt more is that as the staff was telling me it was MY fault they never gave me my food. read more

I pretty much always love Ikea except for all the walking involved to get around it. This Ikea I enjoyed a little less. I'm not sure if it was because they were moving everything around so much that we couldn't find what we were looking for, or if they have discontinued some of the things that I like to look at and buy but it just seems like today's experience was more frustrating than I have had at all the other Ikeas I go to in other cities. There are certain things I always buy at IKEA. One of them are those wonderful bag clips they sell which are better than any other design I have ever used. It's only $3 for a bag of about 20 of them. I've never had one break and I'm always buying them to give to other people. We were looking and looking in the kitchen section and didn't see any so we wondered if they might be out. Further along we encountered an employee and when I asked her about them she was telling me how she loved them also. She called the front because they usually sell them up there but we didn't want to find out after we got there that they didn't have them. Surprisingly she was told they didn't carry them in the front anymore but they would be back in the kitchen section. Both of us had to look around quite a bit before we finally found them. I've never had a problem finding them in the past. I did buy a set to split with my daughter. The other item I love to buy at Ikea is their ground coffee. I usually pick up at least two bags, one regular and one decaf. I noticed they have changed the design of the bag completely. Instead of a 12-16 ounce bag for about $4 now it's a 17.5 oz bag for $6. One of the things I loved about the coffee was it it tasted delicious for a cheap price but it's getting less and less cheap over the years. She grabbed a bag that said it was organic but both in the kitchen section and in the market area we could not find any decaf coffee at all. There wasn't even a sign on a shelf indicating they might have had some and run out. I sure hope they don't decide to discontinue the decaf because it was one of my favorites. I like to mix regular and decaf together 50/50 so I won't be drinking so much caffeine. Even if they do get it back in again that doesn't change the fact that on this trip to IKEA I spent way too much time looking for products that have always been easy to find in the past. Even when I asked if they had any fly swatters the employee said they used to carry them but don't anymore. My daughter bought a bookcase that was pretty heavy but between the two of us we were able to load it in her car and she carried it in the house by herself while I was out running other errands. She spent the entire evening putting it together and the end result was just beautiful. I'll take a picture and post it. We had just eaten at another restaurant so we didn't have anything to eat in the Ikea cafeteria but that's another place that I just love. read more

It's inexcusable to continually not staff enough cashiers. All 3 lines run 12 people deep while you watch countless employees just saunter by like they've got no where to be. It's a Friday afternoon at 2; there's just no excuse for not staffing properly. There are no lines designated for people with smaller quantity of items - 10 or less type of thing - which could accommodate more people more quickly. The pace of any given line can be slowed to a crawl by a single individual with two carts full of 75 small items. Next time I'll drive to San Antonio- it might end up being faster. read more

I would not shop at IKEA in the first place, but DO NOT order online from them. Their delivery service, CRST, caused 1500 dollars worth of damage to my home when picking up a dangerous and defective IKEA item that was recalled. CRST refused to pay for repairs, and even though IKEA sent them into our home, they have essentially said, "not our problem," and won't help repair the damage. Even though CRST has awful reviews and their claims handling is unethical and possibly illegal, IKEA continues to use them. Once they have your money, they don't care. Bekant sit/stand desk dead after 3 months. Customer Service and returns are impossible. Regrettable purchase and now its like pulling teeth to get my product working as advertised - simply raising and lowering the desk. Put a mislabeled sink in the clearance section to screw people over. You come to Ikea with your measurements and pick up something that says those measurements. I live south and the Round Rock Ikea is still closer to me than the one closer to San Antonio. 08/23 I found a beautiful sink in clearance and it said it was the Rattviken 32inch showroom model, which matched my measurements so I took it home. It never left my car because it was extremely heavy. Called our handyman friend to come install it but he looked at it and said it was not 32 inches, measured it and it's actually 40, which would put the sink going OVER my toilet. I have a small bathroom. Given I live in South Austin, work full time, and am doing school with my son, and this sink was very very heavy, I can't just drop everything and go back to Ikea right away, it did take me two weeks (09/05) to be able to go back with someone who was available to help me carry it into the store (because it stayed in my trunk the whole time) and although it was Ikea's error mislabeling and placing it in the clearance section that way, they refused to take it back. Actually, the girl was just the messenger, the manager didn't even come and talk to me or hear anything out face to face. I think in this case store credit should've been given and they should've taken the sink back. They didn't. So I asked for the plumbing parts (because the sink did not come with them), so that maybe I can sell it and get my money back. Then they gave me the wrong plumbing parts. I won't be giving Ikea my money anymore. I just recently purchased a queen size bed with storage drawers, a full size bed, a shoe cabinet, two cube storage shelves, a bathroom cabinet, and a bunch of other random stuff in the past month and the same day I went and got this sink. Day 4, post-due date, still no delivery of our $13k+ in cabinets and appliances. Just this morning it was promised to be delivered between 5 and 9 PM today. I waited. And waited. At 8:00 I called North America Logistics and learned that the driver marked the delivery complete, and that I had signed for it. There WAS NO DELIVERY and I HAD NOT SIGNED ANYTHING. I placed an order 2 months in advance before I was to move to my new apartment, which would give them ample time to coordinate logistically to deliver my furniture. The day before my delivery date, I checked online and they had mysteriously moved my delivery date back a few days without notifying me. When I asked inquired with customer service (after being on hold for an hour), they were unable to provide an explanation. So then I waited the extra 5 days only to find out they have now pushed my delivery date by another few days forward. No explanation was given. DO NOT SHOP HERE. read more

Convenient location if you live in North Austin. There is plenty of parking and the space is HUGE. I recommend avoiding the furniture and sticking with the decor (e.g. curtains, picture frames, etc.). So far, I don't have any complaints on quality. The only downside I can think of is it can be hard to locate what you are looking for as everything is arranged in a maze. If you're lucky to locate a staff member, they can help you track down items on your shopping list. read more

Horrible experience with the delivery service, horrible experience with the phone service, and Brett the in-store manager was rude and short with us the entire time, offered no solution other than to have the phone service call him. Even walked away while my partner tried to talk to him. I was appalled by how he handled the situation and I was spoken to by him and the other employee working the desk, and, as a manager in the service industry myself, would never hire him to be a representative of any company. Still don't have any of the hundreds of dollars worth of products I've purchased. IKEA is a bit of a magical place, with a wide variety of furniture, furnishings, and snacks. Anytime I'm in the area I try to stop by for organizational items and to pick up fun food items. This time was no different and I ended up selecting some unserved storage container which I'm already enjoying to maximize my current closet space by storing off-season clothing items and additional bed sets/blankets I only use in cooler weather. And of course, when the season changes and I no longer need my warm weather gear, I'll swap them out! My review two is largely consisting in two things. First, I'll talk about the accessibility. As I am currently on crutches, it was incredibly challenging to maneuver around and absolutely exhausting. In addition, I was very limited on my carrying options as I cannot carry one of the bags and was limited to storing everything in my personal backpack. Not only was this inconvenient to transport, but it was incredibly inaccessible when I stoped to get food/pay/etc. I wish they had a motorized scooter option to make this more accessible for people. For this reason alone, I cannot give a 5 star review. That being said, my second reason is really where I'd like to give a huge shout out to the employees of IKEA, particularly the employees of the food court. I was struggling to carry my food (blackberry summer salad with grilled chicken - pretty tasty, by the way!) when I stopped for a bite to eat, and two employees assisted me in carrying my food, heating it up, etc. I cannot thank them enough for going out of their way to assist me! These are my two main focuses for my experience today, but I would also like to mention that this is just a great place in general... spaces for childcare while you shop makes it family friendly, a blend of fun, eclectic and colorful items with neutral, sophisticated, and essential items makes for a great experience, but also gives the opportunity to find exactly what you need and are looking to find! It is a massive place, with many items on display in the "showroom" portion of the building. The restroom has always been clean and I love that they offer feminine hygiene products at no cost for those emergency situations - as a woman it's always nice to see companies that genuinely care about our health! All in all, this is a great place and I would absolutely recommend checking them out...even if you're not on the market for new furniture I can guarantee they have something you'll love! read more

I like this companies products but I will never shop here or place an online order again. I had so much trouble and made multiple attempts to place an online order but something is wrong with their website so I could never accomplish it. I finally resorted to calling customer service and the person who helped me was very nice and very helpful and the order was placed in a reasonable amount of time. What are the weird thing about paying for your order online is they have to send you a link they can't just take your information by phone. She did that and I was able to make the payment so I thought everything was good. Once the payment process I received a receipt and a verification of the order and the delivery. The delivery was going to take nearly a week which was very disappointing but that was the fastest option they have. I thought everything was OK but I had ordered it for a gift and then I didn't hear anything from the person I had sent it to you I finally reached out and asked if they had gotten anything and unbelievably they had not. I was never notified there was a problem at any time. They had my phone number and my email address so that was no excuse. When I called to find out what had happened they said it was something to do with payment but that it was not on my end. For some reason their interface had not accepted it. They said I should've received an email notification but I did not receive anything so had I not reached out until I checked my credit card receipt the following month I never would've known that but just had not been received. When I spoke to them about this and expressed my concern and told them I thought they should send the gift right away and expedite the shipping they said they absolutely do not have a way they can do that. So I ended up just canceling the whole thing. What a disappointment and what poor customer service. I've had enough. I won't be shopping there again read more

I've been to several IKEA's over the years. I've spent money in the ones in Europe as well as several throughout the United States and I have to say that the Round Rock Texas store is the worst IKEA shopping experience I've had. To start off with; there were no sales associates on the display floor to assist customers with questions. When we found our way to the self help warehouse section, you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting one (but I'll get back to that in a minute). My wife and I stopped at the restaurant to recharge with a cup of coffee or a soft drink. The coffee was "coffee flavored" hot water, the soft drink dispenser was out of order and they were out of other items as well. Very un-satisfying. Let's move on; after continuing our shopping we finally made it to the self help warehouse where we looked for a few items. One of our items came in two boxes, a fact of which we were not aware. Also, only "Box 2" was in the bin location marked on the item tag on the display floor. We did not see a "Box 1" anywhere there. After making all of our selections, we made our way to the checkout and, lo and behold, the lines were 20 to 30 shoppers deep with only 7 of 20 cashier lines open. Do you remember all he sales associates I mentioned earlier (the swinging a dead cat reference)? Well they were all standing around unsuccessfully trying to look busy. Now it may be that they weren't qualified to be a cashier (they didn't have the cool blue- striped yellow shirts) but surely they could have dispersed themselves throughout the store to assist customers. We finally made it to the checkout, where we found out one of our items was missing a box (I'd mentioned that earlier I think, let me check...yep, I did). Fortunately they had another blue-striped yellow shirt bring us the missing box (why he wasn't helping with checkout, I'll never know). Purchases complete, we had one more item to buy - IKEA Swedish meatballs. THEY WERE OUT!! And the sales clerk at the counter couldn't tell us when more would be in. Suffice it to say I will NEVER GO BACK TO THE ROUND ROCK IKEA AGAIN! I don't care if they offer me free stuff. I'm done. I can only hope the the planned San Antonio store will get it right. read more

Very big store that also has a restaurant/cafe as well. Everything is affordable and has different themes for you to choose from. From furniture to home decor, they have everything! At the cafe, the prices range from $4-$20. I've heard so much good things about the Swedish meatballs so I had to get it. They have healthy food options that you can choose from, and they have sides you can order like cornbread , french fries, Mac and cheese as well as soups. I also tried their broccoli cheddar soup, it's a little watery but very flavorful. I wish it was a little thicker. As for the Swedish meatballs, they have vegetarian meatballs and chicken if you don't want the Swedish meatballs. It comes with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. We bought 3 meals and 3 sides and 3 drinks and our total only came out to $24. Very, very reasonable! Would love to come back next time I need to buy some furniture. read more

My daughter just moved to Austin so we ordered a dining set to be delivered the next day. Delivery window of 9am to 1pm. We even got 2 call alerts and text messages on the delivery. It never showed but they kept moving the time. Ok that's bad but try calling IKEA customer service and get an answer. One, you hold all day and then when you get on line no one knows anything. Be prepared to spend the whole day here, but do 't worry, they have a place to sit and take a break while eating on the middle of the way. The store is design in a way that you can walk the entire store. It has everything for home, and you can see different settings at the beggining of the store, this way you get ideas on what to get. Take paper and pencil that they provide, so you can take note of the things that you like, because at the end you will pick them up. My husband just recently picked up a king-sized topper. When he pulled in to quick collect, the young woman just told him," here you go" and walked away! My husband is frail and disabled. No one offered to help him load this heavy topper into our vehicle. He did manage to load it after struggling for a while. Shame on you! Poor customer service! Horrible service in the returns department from Lanie and Cass today. Lanie was just chewing her gum, very unprofessional. She pushed the cart through me and was very rude. Cass was unhelpful about a delivery question I had. It's like they did not want to be there. Worst experience I've had in Ikea. People who don't like IKEA just don't get it. The top two complaints I see for IKEA are: -getting lost in the store -having to put together furniture themselves Both are personal problems. There is not a single employee in that store that will not help you find what you need if you really can't figure it out on their very up to date website that tells you exact aisles and bins. Duh you put the furniture together yourself. That is the literally how they are able to offer affordable, environmentally conscious, well designed furniture at price that you can't beat anywhere else. IKEA flat packs their furniture. It's more environmentally friendly then factory assembled. Back to getting lost: Every store is more or less the same. I am an IKEA enthusiast (addict). I've been to the IKEA in Dallas, Seattle, Kansas City, and New York. Some of those more than once. The set up is almost always the same at every store. The products are the same. Some seasonal collections transition but several of IKEA's products are decades old designs. I'm pretty certain the kind of people that don't like IKEA can be found in cookie-cutter suburban neighborhoods named Lost Creek or Breezy Valley. They'd rather pay $700 for a $300 sofa so the pushy salesman can get his commission and the store can get their profit. P.S. The Smorgasbords are really fun too. My best friend and I went into this Ikea to find a desk; and I've never had a problem with Ikea, I love it and it's workers, but when we checked out it was terrible. Your staff is usually very kind, courteous, and patient, but the lady ( about early or mid 20's with tattoos) didn't really great us or smile, she just seemed like she wanted us to go away. This wasn't my problem because we all have those days, the thing that made us upset was that when she pulled the cart from me she was about to hit the items on her station and gave me attitude and told me to let go of the cart, it was so rude especially since I was trying to avoid the products we were going to buy to be damaged. I don't have her name but I do have her employee cashier ID: 10067022 As we were leaving without apologizing she said " have a nice day ladies." In conclusion, all was great except the cashier, make your employees aware of the nice establishment their in and how they should act in a professional setting. read more
