PROS: (1) MASSIVE. There's more furniture and furnishings here than any other kind of store, period. (2) DISPLAYS. They have real-life mockups of entire small apartments with all the the furnishings, showing the total square feet, itemized item cost, and total cost. Who else does that? (3) ASSEMBLABLE. Most everything they sell is intended to be assembled by the customer. That means you can get most of what they sell into your car, without needing a truck. (4) FOOD. They offer a lot af specialty frozen food, much of it vegan. We always get several bags of the veggie meatballs. (5) CAFETERIA onsite. Makes sense, because you could spend all day here. CONS: (1) OVERWHELMING. It's massive. You'll do a lot of walking. The set up is that you see the furniture display on the display side of the store, take a pic of the tag for the item(s) you want, then you walk to the warehouse and find your item(s) on the shelves. It's not always easy. I don't know how they can make the process better, it just seems like it's the nature of the beast. read more

Worst, please don't. It's always an issue with the amount of checkers or returns or whatever the case, but I can't count how many times I've come here and left with nothing. ZIP through grabbing things all the way along only to get to the end having to wait 30 min for checkout realizing uh, I have to get the kids from school so you sadly have to leave the last two hours of your life abandoned in a cart as you are still 6 people away from the front. So completely aggravating! That's happened 3 times, you think I would learn, apparently I love self punishment. Another one that gets me is going through the entire store ti find out something is out of stock. Like why not have a tag on the item inside the store? You sent me on a wild goose chaise get me all excited, have me building and buying things ti match all the way along then BAM empty shelf at the end. Today I came for a birthday gift for a little girl, I use Apple Pay everywhere, everywhere... it wants my pin and won't run as credit. Plenty of money in the account but won't run without the pin, so I ask if I can physically type in the card number which gets a quick no... okay well should I order it online since it's for a birthday party and I drove 45 min in traffic with two screaming kids. Great idea right? WRONG. Griffin looks at me and says, you can come back tomorrow to pick it up. Uhhhhh.... Excuse me what? No, I'm here now, I've paid for my item and I need it for this evening. Well I bent over for IKEA once again and I'm as per usual leaving empty handed. It was either Zoey or Josephine who actually tried to help the situation which didn't help but at least gave me the illusion of caring which was nice. The other was a complete snot, zero customer service with a shorter fuse than myself with not a reason to talk to me the way she did. So thank you to the sweet nice pretty one, not so much thank you to the mean unhelpful one. So fun spending 35 min and $35 while being there yet leaving empty handed and hot headed. Funny their online system had no problem taking my card, yup same card. At the end of the day it's about customer service, I have proof I paid for the item figure it out. It had been a while since I've been to this Ikea. I came with the intention to look at a table I saw on the site. I wanted to see it in person before making a decision but sadly they didn't have a display of it out (yet...I'm assuming since some of the rooms were under construction they are putting in there). I thought it would be much busier due to it being spring break but it wasn't and I loved it. I did see a couple sofas I was looking at and possibly decided to get a new bed in PINK. But my daughter had other intentions and picked up a peg board to go with the aesthetic of her room. We made a pit stop at the cafe and I got a Greek salad and my daughter got tenders and fries. The fountain machine was down so the only option was cans and bottles. I am a Ikea Family member so I got a free coffee instead. They were doing crafts for both spring break & St Patrick's Day but my 10 y/o is too old to make leprechaun hats (her words). I do wish they still had the paper catalog though. I don't usually review furniture stores. Heck, I don't even go into many furniture stores so I wouldn't even know how to review a furniture store. Let it be known that this is not wholly a review for IKEA, the giant Swedish furniture store that is well known for its affordable prices and Scandanavian-chic designs, but instead it is also a review for their great food kitchen. IKEA has both a cafeteria style marketplace kitchen in the middle of the store (after you've spent at least an hour walking through the showrooms) which serves a variety of gourmet meals that typically have a large Swedish influence (e.g., Swedish meatballs, fish, etc.) However, one of the most interesting things for IKEA's here in the U.S. (or at least in Texas) is the little Hot Dog + cone stand at the very end of checkout once you've finished perusing through the store. They have $1 hot dogs, $1.50 cones, and other cheap eats that are reminescent of a Costco style food court that provides quality without requiring quantity (of $$). Their veggie dog is especially interesting, a very garlicy-falafel type play with fried onion bits and other amazingly boutique additives considering the light bite is only $0.75. 5 stars, would recommend for the walk, the shop, and the food. read more

I am certainly a big fan of IKEA and I am hardly ever disappointed by one. The one in Round Rock is just as you would expect: large marketplace and showroom with a nice cafeteria/bistro towards the middle of the showroom walk. I have purchased countless items for my home from this IKEA, including a few pieces ordered online for store pickup. Every time I come to IKEA, I go to the bistro if it is open. The in-store shopping offered here is great and the staff is friendly and generally willing to help out. Given the supply shortages across the country, there are understandably many items out of stock including a Hovnas lamp that I have been looking for since I first came to this store. That being said, there is a very good selection and a few items I have been waiting to come back in stock, namely a few bed frames and tables/chairs took less than a couple weeks to restock which I was happy about. The online ordering to this store is seamless and there are generally a few people staffed to the store pickup area on the left as soon as you walk in. I would highly recommend doing in-store pickup for larger items that might otherwise be difficult to cart around the marketplace area and then check out. The food at IKEA is some of the best in any retail establishment I have been to. Biased or not because I love mashed potatoes, their selection is good, service is quick, and food tastes incredible. If you have never tried the Swedish Meatballs from IKEA, you must. The mac and cheese is also very good, and they usually have fun soda options as well. The employee named Alice kept asking me if I had scanned the items that I already scanned. I like visiting IKEA when I'm searching for classic, clean and functional items. However, I must first mentally prepare myself for the usual chaos that goes with the endless maze/flow of customers; not suited for everyone. That being said, you really do find tons of cute stuff at affordable prices. If you're crafty and creative, this place will make your heart flutter. Today's visit was mostly for the purpose of decorating my home office. I found most of the items on my list but had to buy the remaining pieces online (crossing fingers order is not severely delayed or cancelled). Restaurant is closed due to COVID but that's expected for social distancing. Everyone is adhering to safety measures - masks are worn and hand sanitizers everywhere. The only negative thing is that many popular items are out of stock and click & collect in-store at Round Rock is temporarily unavailable. If you can wait till this storm passes, you'll be fine. It's IKEA...I mean what can I say. It has everything at a cheap price and was surprisingly super clean. Hand sanitizer stations were at the entrance and exit and throughout the store due to the current pandemic. Everyone wore masks and the workers walking throughout the store would causally say hi and ask you how your doing? Or if you need help? The store did have a bit less merchandise than an IKEA usually has but I would guess that's because of the strained delivery service due to the pandemic. IKEA appears to not give a shit anymore. First of all, 20 mins after opening and there are no toilet seat covers, those sheet protector things. Prices are not posted for many products, when you ask someone they tell you they have to boot up their computer, others have no product knowledge and in the absence of knowledge make shit up. By the way IKEA your cheap ass batteries leaked acid and jacked up the mouse on my iMac. Yea, you are cheap, on so many levels. Disappointed. Will be glad when you open in Live Oak so I have to drive less to get disappointed. I have gone here once maybe twice a year since it opened mainly just out of curiosity, the drive from San Anto, and an excuse to eat in Austin. They have alot of interesting housewares and furniture. Generally everything is really cheap but some of the products are not durable. One of the best things I have ever bought is a clip on light for my bed. It clips to the bed frame and the light is perfect for late night reading with a flexible neck that I can push out of the way. It has lasted going on six years. I love it. It was about $12. If you get tired like me from endlessly walking I would make sure to look for the various shortcuts located around the store. A tip I have is to try to get there early because sometimes they do not have enough cashiers to accommodate the volume of people within the store. Besides those two tings, I really enjoy the quality of furniture and their Pizzas and Churros. If you need a quick snack, I would recommend getting one of those to hold you over. read more

Literally the worst delivery I've ever experienced. I scheduled the delivery a month in advance for a day I know I will have off. I get a confirmation text the day before delivery saying it will be delivered. The day comes and I'm waiting, so I check the online tracker. It was moved to Monday without my consent nor did they bother to notify me. They moved it to a day I'm unavailable. I'm on hold for two hours and they say if I'm not there to pick it up it will count as a missed delivery and I will pay the delivery fee and recieve nothing, even though it is 100% thier fault. They say they will request to move it to next Saturday. So Monday comes and I still got notifications saying it will be delivered that day(which means the request was ignored). I got a call at 11 saying it was 5-30min from delivery. So I took time off work to race to my place only to find out they moved it from 11 (when they said they would deliver) to approx 2:30. Which means I will miss the delivery despite doing everything in my power to adhere to thier screwups. Twice they said they would deliver, and I was there both times WAITING, and they keep moving it without notifying m This is the most infuriating and loathsome experience I've ever dealt with. Never stepping foot in an IKEA ever. Thanks for wasting my time and my money. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Edit: Wow so the delivery people just left all my packages ($1000 worth of stuff) outside my apartment while I was gone, and signed/forged my signature for me. I regret ordering from IKEA. Everything about this ikea is terrible. Always out of stock of everything. Terrible delivery service. Terrible customer service. They're pointers, as opposed to showers like you SHOULD be in a customer service role. Today was so traumatizing I decided to finally share why not to come here. I will make the drive to San Antonio from now on. I bought a tv stand in the as-is section because they were out of what I'd been checking on for over a month, go figure. So I decided to check here and found one that would suffice as I desperately needed one as I'd been waiting for awhile now. Well, it didn't fit in my car. One person helped me by getting me the Allen wrench to undo it but then the "service" attendants were on their phones, staring at me struggling to disassemble this tv stand. For clarification, my wrist got smashed in a near fatal accident 2 years ago. Totally metal now. Low functionality. And they just watched me struggle. Then when I went to ask them for help as I'd broken all the pegs to hold it together, they wouldn't even look at me. Totally ignored me and stayed on their phones. Do not go to this ikea. Wow the place had even had a food cafe court in it! The map helps to keep you on course...the place was super busy but didn't feel like it. If you're buying furniture, be prepared to put it together. It was my first time trying out the restaurant and I wish I hadn't. As I'm going through the line, I immediately start having flashbacks to my childhood eating in the cafeteria. All the cold food items look so sad, like vending machine quality. But the line was too long to change my mind, I mean the food is cheap and who knows, just because it doesn't look attractive doesn't mean it doesn't taste good right? Oh what a tragedy, it was like eating a TV dinner in the old school foil tray. The snack bar at the checkout area is better. Men get giddy in Fry's Electronics. Kids get excited in a candy store. I get lighthearted in an IKEA store. I still remember my first ever IKEA visit. My sister and her friend took me to one near Los Angeles, CA. I was relatively new in this country. Coming from a country that's considered 3rd world, going to a big box, 2 stories home furnishing store was quite a mind blowing experience. You mean there was another level to this humongous place? After I graduated from college, my CA IKEA memory stuck with me. When I finally had some income to spend on home furnishing, I drove to Houston, the nearest IKEA to me, before the one in Round Rock opened. The Houston IKEA had furnished many of my kids room and my house. Now that there is an IKEA in Round Rock, I drive there at least twice a year, even if I don't have anything particular to buy. I just like browsing around there, marveling at how a small space can be furnished so comfortably and usefully. I can easily spend 2-3 hours on my feet in this store. The first time I drove up there, I was on my leisurely day off. As I exited out I-35 exit 256, I drove on the access road looking for the building. That morning was foggy and cloudy. Visibility really sucked. After a few seconds, I finally spotted the blue flag with yellow letters flying near the store building, the vision of it blurred by the fog. I am a bit embarrassed to say this, but I felt a buzz, a wave of excitement coming over, the same excitement I felt when I came over the US the first time, the same excitement when I drank my first margarita, the same excitement when I got my US citizenship. Yeah, I know, it's silly. My kids love visiting this place. The Houston IKEA has a better kids section. They have more play things for kids in the Kids section such as slides and crawly places. The Round Rock IKEA's kids section is not bad either. A few times, I let them play at the Smaland. You check in your kids here and pick them up in an hour. But the Smaland tends to be full, so unless we come here first thing in the morning when they open, we most likely could not get the kids in. This place also offers the cheapest meal. Breakfast for 99c!! Who could beat that? Of course, you come here for the Swedish meatballs and Lingonberry sauce or preserve. Yum! What can I say.... I love IKEA read more
